Hey all! Been having computer problems all day :-(, but I'm finally able to get online with some regularity now, so I could check in with my SP friends' blogs and check in here. Waiting for DH to get home from work... only 8:15pm. sigh.

Volunteering tomorrow, so hopefully a bike ride there and back (depending on the shoulder). did an hour today, but with a backpack, and my shoulder is a little sore.

Got a swim in on Sunday. It was my first in a few weeks. It felt good. Couldn't go tonight because my little boy had a flag football game. He got his second touchdown of the season! Yeah! Did the P90 Sculpt 1 workout when I got home. Going to try to get up early in the morning and get a swim in... Take care all!

Good afternoon all!

Had a moderately good weekend, got one swim in on saturday, but worked all day Sunday trying to clean up the dissertation. Today the Beastlet starts his swim lessons again, so I'll go to the pool when he does and get in a workout then. Masters is cancelled for tomorrow as the coach has jury duty, but I'll be working out anyway.

I've got to get some work done, but I'll be back later. Enjoy the afternoon all!

Just stopping in really quick. Hopefully I'll have time to read your responses this afternoon, or tonight.

Today is UBER hectic. I woke up this morning and did the first workout of C25K Week 3. :-D. I was pleased with my pace for the sprints. For some reason, though, I was really nervous about doing it. I have no idea why, but I woke up at 5am and couldn't sleep w/o nighmares about running. Whaaa? As the boy says, I've "got a bit of crazy going on there." lol.

Today, I came in to a zillion emails (really, I counted) from being out of town and all sorts of things backed up b/c no one else did them. *headdesk* So I'm catching up on that. This morning has been hectic yet time has moved soooo slowly.

Tonight, my swim is getting moved so that boy and I can get some chores done: dishes, basic cleaning, and grocery shopping. Our freaking landlord hasn't fixed our sink so dishes are a feat - our faucet previously leaked, but in attempting to fix it they've punctured the "p-trap" (name I've been given for the thing, I have no idea) and now water leaks from below into our cabinet when we use the faucet... so someone needs to wash and the other run the bucket we have outside dump it and bring it back.... *headdesk*. He's also been working on "fixing" our toilet (currently, it's leaking badly enough that we're using 187 GALLONS of water a DAY) and we've come home to a flooded bathroom twice since he started his "fixing." *headdesk* The landlord has 30 days to fix them before we can legally charge him for calling in a plumber, but it's only been about a week and I'm going nutso. He's a nice enough guy, but he needs to realize that he doesn't know how to fix things. He's already cost himself additional money due to the p-trap puncturing (a new faucet is like $20, new p-trap is several hundred...), and he just needs to suck it up and call a plumber. /rant

So yeah, tonight should be interesting, as should the rest of the day. But hopefully I'll be able to get on at some point, even if it's at like 10pm.

*hugs*

Kourtney

Morning all,

Kobe - way to go on the tri! I can't believe that you still managed it after not swimming since June!? And congrats on the bike - we'll await the first ride report.

My group is done swimming at the outdoor pool for the year, and we're on hiatus until mid-September. A few of us don't want to get out of the rhythm, so we decided to check out a new pool that just opened. It is one of the Olympic legacy projects (tho why a pool when it was the winter olympics?!...not that I'm complaining!) and it is beautiful! There are tonnes of windows, and the light from the sunrise was streaming in:

50m lengths which is my favourite length. Not so long that I'm dogging it at the end (the summer pool is 137.5m), but long enough that you are able to get a good distance before flipping. I find it much easier to keep a steady pace.

A little warm and a little pricey (more expensive than the other pools), but definitely a good option until our club is back in mid-September.

Have a great day everyone!

morning all!
Carol I saw the fulcrum paddles and they surelook interesting and may pick some up after the competition.

Kobe I hope you get your bike and that you get a good deal on your hybrid-
You have been involved in so many sports this summer so I can see that you may be feeling tired! Winter is coming and maybe some time away will energize you for next summer!!

Heather-not too much fun at work!!!

I love the scale being PITA and if my experience is worth anything-it's an up and down ride on that scale especially in the beginning-I GAINED weight when I started and it is coming off so so slowly but you just gotta keep going-what other choice do we have? Can't give up the fight for a better healthier life despite the ups and downs we have-keep close to this team they are great supporters of your efforts!

heading to the pool

I love, hate, love, hate the scale!!

I took measurements ....hmm when?? July? and I plan on doing them again next Tuesday (hope I can find the paper I wrote the other ones on - probably burned it) emoticon Hopefully that will lessen the blow of the scale not moving a little.

Good luck with the P90x in the morning - I bet it sure will wake you up! I am the opposite, going to try and swim in the morning - at least 3 days a week and P90x it in the evenings.

Good morning fishes,

I am getting frustrated. Scale is being a total PITA!!!

I did not swim this weekend .. I swam 4 days last week though. Today I try jogging again. We shall see.

I was trying to figure out how to put the px90 into my schedule in the fall. Imight have to get up an hour early do px 90 then my jogging at lunch and swimming at nihgt. Alll of that excerise you think the scale would go down. but ahahhhhhh my scale sux and my fat loves me lots!!!

Well at least it is nice to be loved. emoticon

Hello all again!

Went back again swimming on Saturday. I feel I'm doing okay but I can only do a lap before I feel the need to clear airways and start again. I'm stopping tonight at the store for a nose plug to see if that helps.

Weekend was a long one. Josie had a soccer tournament all weekend, which translates to sitting in the hot sun for most of the weekend. My skin is certainly showing some color this morning!

I start a new part-time job this week so I need to get my gym time in during the AM... today I was not successful getting up. Tomorrow will be better!

Zoe starts her swim team today. First practice and kick off meeting today. I hope she stays as psyched about it as she has been all summer!! :)

Have a happy Monday everyone!!

well...ok then...
OK – let’s try the “weekend saga” short story again….
Friday I left work and went to our LBS and they have “my” bike in – 2011 Specialized Dolce Sport. I decided that I am going to bite the bullet and get it. I have to wait and talk to the owner b/c he said he would take my hybrid in on trade (not something they usually do) so we’ll get the details worked out this week. After that we went to the YMCA and got signed up. DH and I are now gym rats – I feel I will be more of a pool rat but when the weather turns yucky I will utilize more of the facility to make sure I get my money’s worth. Mainly I did it to have the pool and focus on learning, practicing, REPEAT!! for this winter.
Sat. morning I woke up still not wanting to go do that mini tri – I think the effects of the tri bug that bit earlier in the year have worn off. Due to softball and volleyball, I have not been to any OWS or RBR’s so I’ve kind of lost the connection I think so maybe getting back to swimming will help that feeling return. If not. I am sure next spring with all the hype will. Anyway, it was kind of chilly – about 55 degrees – but the water was a little warmer. Swim went ok but I got tired FAST – haven’t been swimming since June 21 and could tell. Now here’s the really sad part – I woke up yesterday with tight, sore triceps??? Is that possible from such a short distance??? I have to say yes since that is the only thing it could have been (P90X is SO going to kill me!!)
Hopped out spent a lot of time trying to get dried off, put on shorts, sock & shoes, and threw on a long sleeve jersey since it was very chilly. Set the Garmin and off I went. A lot of head winds in the direction of starting out and finishing up but the middle was OK. I must have thought that the bike course wasn’t quite long enough b/c I took a wrong turn and had to back track out and get on the right route – adding about a mile or so. My own fault, failed to read the markers. There were a lot of hills, most not too steep but looooong!! I still managed over a 14mph pace. I felt kind of good later when DH said he didn’t do well on the hills (he did the duathlon). Surprised me b/c he is tiny and zooms right up them.
Got off the bike and decided to hit the bathroom before the run - drank a lot of water on the ride. The run was very short (1.5 m) so it was over quickly.
No records were broken and I am not marking it off my “To Do” list yet as I want to do at least a sprint distance to call it a real tri but I got the feel of it and how quickly time ticks by in transitions – geez.

Gary - I totally agree that working Saturday makes them that much shorter...that's why I decided I would just simply skip it this week : )

Morning, and thanks Carol cause I was thinking a garbage can would solve my problem, but because you have such positive attitude about it, I will try to work on cleaning it up the old fashion way.
Superfish, I love your books,
Heather, the weekends are never long enough and working Saturday makes them even shorter.
have a great day and keep smiling

Lynn - You're right, she's really smooth! This is the fulcrum I bought. It's less on the shoulder joints and more about forearm and elbow position. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yz13urOPSXU It's all about perfect form, but doesn't drag on the water, and it won't hurt your shoulder. My shoulder is so damaged from going through a windshield that I can't handle the pressure from the other types of paddles.

Morning Heather and Kobe!

I had a beautiful hike yesterday. The it was in the mid seventies with a light breeze. It was absolutely perfect. It was Tom's turn to choose the hike and he decided on an almost all soft sand, hilly hike. It was a great work out and it was so gorgeous out.

I took the whole weekend off, no work at all. My office my look like a hurricane hit...but I'm feeling the endorphins from my swim and I can handle the day!

Good Morning! Welcome to the start of a new week!

One more week with the boss out of the office. Woo hoo!! It makes for a more calm work environment but not really any less work. And next week I'm on vacation again. One last hurrah before the school year begins.

I had a good weekend. I never get as much done as I think I will, but it was good anyway. I had a great lesson on the horse on Sunday and the family went for a bike ride on Saturday. The weather seems to be cooling off for this week and I'm grateful for that!

Fill us in on what you did this weekend! I have to go back and read yesterday's posts to get all caught up, but I did see that Lovey posted a race report on her Iron Girl tri yesterday. See her thread for details!

Have a FUN and ACTIVE day!!!
