I tend to eat when depressed or stressed also and it doesn't help when hubby wants a bunch of foods better left at the store. But I just try to take it a day at a time. Do my best and let it go. emoticon

Thank you firstly for responding and also sharing with me. This aggravation of measuring food has always been there for me and near impossible for me to do. I'm not perfect and I'm not trying to achieve perfection. I'm only trying to do a bit better than I did in the past.

My moods, my feelings are what I eat over. I want things to change to the way I want them to be with other people. That is not possible but I have a hard time accepting that. I want close family to treat me a certain way....and they are who they are and not necessarily who I want them to be. So, I feel upset behind that instead of just accepting it and letting it go and live my own life. That's another problem of mine. Who am I? emoticon

With me, I was at an acceptable weight until I hit menopause 10 years ago. Since then I've put on over 100 lbs. and now I just want to get back under 200 lbs. again. I'll still be considered obese since I'm 5'6" but it's better than the 255.4 lbs. I am now.
I don't eat a whole lot of junk foods except the first couple of days after grocery shopping ( we shop 2 times a month), but I tend to eat larger portions of any foods I eat. Like instead of one sandwich, I'll have 2. Two hotdogs instead of one. A double serving of any side dish. I need to measure foods out but that is so aggravating.

I've struggled my entire life and I just had a 65th Birthday. I'm still fat! I weigh between 225 lbs to 232 lbs. I'd love to be under 200 lbs. The last time I remember being about 180 was when I was in my 20's. Having explained this I also read what others are doing and I've tried those things as well. What I never tried before that I am doing now are a couple of new ideas I've had. I look at this problem as an addiction. I've understood that I am a compulsive overeater and I understand what that means for me. Something sends me off the deep end...happy...or not, and I immediately want to seek out food. I start to eat and all I want to do is keep eating. Not good when I finally stop because I feel so guilty and angry at myself. Here is what I am doing now.

1) I stopped eating trigger food. Whatever I would go for and keep going till it was gone and then I would seek out another trigger food, i.e. like cereal (cheerios or cheesy puffs, chips, crackers etc. *This has been working, by the way. If I don't start with any of those foods then the addiction doesn't start. Food has always been my drug of choice.

2) I started going to art school. I couldn't draw anything but a stick figure and now that has changed. I put a lot of energy into this and I love it. So, this has been my strategy and for the most part...I don't get very compulsive. If I must eat something, I eat the foods that I allow myself, i.e. a salad, tuna fish, turkey and chicken and cottage and certain low fat cheese and Fruit! It is delicious and the most delicious part my addiction hasn't taken hold. But, I must beware...if I allow myself just one cookie, it will turn into a nightmare! emoticon

I have to join this team again because I gained weight and NOW am over 200 pounds again. I WILL LOSE to be under 200. I have done it once about 3 years ago and got down to 186 but after my mother passing away and taking care of her affairs and estate and turning to food for comfort I gained up to 225 and bouncing from 223-228 for the last year I am ready to get serious and eat right, exercise and lose weight again. I am on the right track for this week. I am down to 221 as of this morning.

Great Cafe, the only thing to consume is Conversation, Encouragement, Friendship and Great Ideas ... All extremely low in Calories, Carbs, Fat and Sodium ... but ... WARNING: These can be HIGH in SUGAR Coated Inspiration and Kindness.

So glad you both have kept trying!!

My month was also bad, was sick most
of the last 2 weeks, lost 7 pounds both
times but couldn't hold onto it!

Im not setting any goals for this month. I have been having a really bad year. If I lose anything, I will be happy.New Years was when this all happened. I made a big mistake by ordering holiday treats for New Years. I did great last year. 33 lbs lost. This year zilch.. I hope I can get it all together after the 4th of July Hugs to all.
