Starting Date: August 3, 2010

Goal 1: Lose 4 lbs by Labor Day

Goal 2: Record food intake daily

Goal 3: Go to the gym at least 3 times a week.

Reward: Fengsation sauna treatment :)

Great idea; very motivating!

August 1: starting date
Goal 1: lose 8 lbs before Labor Day
Goal 2: Finish reading The Spark
Goal 3: Some form of exercise (zumba, C25K, hike, etc) 6x per week
Reward: New outfit for Back to School! :)

Starting weight - 213
August 8: lost 1 pound; didn't read any of The Spark :( ; only exercised 5x this week. Will do better next week!!
August 15: lost 1 pound; read 3 chapters of The Spark; exercised 7x this week!!
August 23: got off track this week, but still lost 1 pound.
August 30: started my new library position . . . did not read the Spark, but lost 1 pound. Zumba and hike 3x this week.
Labor Day: missed Zumba on the first day of school - too wiped out, but got back into it and also started week 3 of C25K. Feeling good about getting over my slump and refocusing on my goals in September. Still did not read the Spark. Must get on that this month! Lost 1 more pound!

Ending weight - 208 (didn't make the 8 lb. loss I was hoping for, but also had a 2-3 week backslide on exercise, so I'm thrilled with losing 5 lbs. this month. Planning to kick some butt in September!)

August 1: starting date
Goal 1: lose 8 lbs before Labor Day
Goal 2: clean one drawer/cupboard or closet weekly
Goal 3: walk 12,000 steps/day
Reward: New couch for my living room. (If I lose the 8 lbs, I will be out of the obese category, which is deserving of a big reward!)

August 1: starting date
Goal 1: lose 4lb by labor day
Goal 2: Run/jog at least 3 times a week
Goal 3: Drink my 8 cups of water a day
Reward: Buy a new pair of jeans!

August 8: No movement on the scale this week, hopefully it moves next week when I weigh myself again.

I did my 3 days of jogging/running, first day on tuesday, second day on thursday, and third day on saturday.

5 out of 7 days I drank my 8 cups of water. Hopefully I can make it 7 out of 7 days this week!

August 15: Lost .7 ounces this week!

Had 8 cups of water 6 out of 7 days!

And did my 3 days of jog/run!

August 23: Lost .7 ounces.

Had my 8 cups of water 6 out of 7 days! Must work on that one day!

Jog/ran 3 times this week!

August 30: Lost 2.4 pounds, woohoo!!

Had 8 cups of water 7 out of 7 days!

Did my jog/run 3 times!

Labor Day: End weight - 154! Lost a little more than 4 pounds.

Had 8 cups of water 7 out of 7 days

and completed my 3 days of jogging!

Got me a new pair of jeans plus 3 new shirts! woohoo!!

Goal 1 lose 5lb
Goal 2 Finish book Breaking Free of Emotional Eating
Goal 3 Eat at a table and eat without distractions
Goal 4 exercise at least 5x
Reward New book Women, Food and God

I start back to work on Monday. I just get into a summer routine and I am back to the school routine.

I need this, too! New Month, New Committment:

Goal 1 - record exercise and nutrition daily
Goal 2 - read at least 3 books per week (chapter and picture) to get ready for school visits
Goal 3 - walk daily
Goal 4 - ride my bike at least 2x per week
Reward - new outfit for my trip to Florida in October

Aug 8: #1 recorded what I could all days but Tues.
#2 finished the Bree Tanner book + 2 picture books
#3 Walked all days but Tuesday
#4 rode my bike only 1 day
Getting back in the habit! I felt a lot better. Had enough energy on Saturday to steam clean all my carpets!
Aug 15 - not a great week.
#1 did well on Nutrition tracking - missed only one day, but one has to do fitness activity in order to reacord it - exercised only 2 days.
#2 I did read 3 books plus book reviews this week. That feels good!
#3 - didn't walk daily. but I was active. had only one "couch potato night"
#4 went for a long bike ride Sat. - 7 miles.
Last Week of August went well, but can't remember much!
I got back into the habit of recording exercising and food - missed only one day. I am back in the habit of reading, and I'm loving it. I did only one bike ride that week, buT was active. I walked every day because my son takes the car to school and I have no vehicle!!
This was a great challenge - Thank you! I even won 3 trophies - for consistency, for 1000 fitness minutes and for over 500 total spark points for the month. Si I am REALLY glad I took the challenge.
Still trying to come up with something for the fall challenge....

Boy do I need this challenge!

August 1: start date

Goal 1: record nutrition and fitness activities daily without exception
Goal 2: make physical therapy appointment or back/hip pain
Goal 3: lose 1/2 to 1 inch from waist by the end of August
Reward: rock tumbler or dedicated fimo oven

Pretty modest goals. But I am trying to resolve a pain issue that seems to be aggravated greatly by exercise. My intention is to resolve the pain (or at least lessen it) while not getting off track with my weight loss goals. Here goes!!!

Goal 1: lose 5 lbs before Labor Day
Goal 2: read 1 book per week
Goal 3: Walk 5X week; exercise of any kind on the two off days is a bonus
Reward: $25 regular contribution to weight jar and a bonus of $20

August 8:
Goal 1: Gained 2 pounds.... : ( Boo!
Goal 2: read 6 YA and kiddie lit books this week
Goal 3: Made 4 out of 5 days.
Overall, not my best week, but this week will be better!


August 15:
Goal 1: Lost 5 pounds!! (Net loss for August 3 pounds)
Goal 2: read 2 YA and 3 regular books
Goal 3: Didn't walk,too hot outside. Did alternative exercise indoors
Great week!


August 23:
Goal 1: Gained .8 pounds (Net loss for August 2.2 pounds)
Goal 2: read only one book this week, but listened to a couple of audiobooks
Goal 3: Didn't walk, didn't exercise. : (
Despite a Rocky week I am happy with only gaining .8 pounds

August 30:
Goal 1:Lost 2 pounds.... :(Net loss in August 4.2 pounds)
Goal 2: read 5 books this week
Goal 3: Made 4 out of 5 days.
Went over my calories burned goal for only the second time since 1/2008

Great idea. I'm in!

August 1: starting date
Goal 1: lose 3 lbs before Labor Day
Goal 2: follow exercise schedule: yoga and step 3-4X weekly, daily walking
Goal 3: add bicycling at least 2X week
Reward: A new hairstyle and/or a massage

August 8: lost 1 lb., met Goal 2, bicycled just once
August 15:met Goal 2, bicycled once
August 23:met Goal 2, didn't bicyle at all :-(
August 30:met Goal 2, didn't bicycle
Labor Day:lost 2nd pound, met Goal 2, bicycled once

Didn't quite make all my goals, but I'll keep working on old and new ones with the Sept - Nov challenge. Rewarded myself with a new and shorter hair style--see pic

I will begin this Hot Summer Challenge!

Goal 1: lose 3 lbs before Labor Day/maintain my losses todate
Goal 2: read 1 book per week
Goal 3: daily exercise schedule: intervals 3 x's weekly, daily stretches, walk at least 1500 steps daily
Reward: Movie night for the family unless I think of something else! and a new mini guitar for me when I hit 177!

August 8: -.5 lb, read 3 books, goal 3 met for wk.
August 15: +.5 lb, read 1 book, goal 3 - PT/Walking
August 21: - 1 lb, read 1 book, goal 3 - PT/walking
August 30: no change, read 1 book, goal 3 - PT/walking, light cardio 3x's

Hello all you fellow librarians (or wanna-be librarians) or those among us that just love books so much they have their own personal library.

August begins tomorrow! Have you accomplished what you aimed for so far this summer? Do you have fitness goals you want to reach before Labor Day? How about all that summer reading you said you would get to? This is going to be a simple self motivated challenge since it is summer after all. Do you want to look hot before Summer ends and the school year begins?

Briefly, make a 3 point goal and list it in your reply under this topic. Update it each week to let us know how you are doing. At least one of the goals must be fitness/weight related. Then, list your reward that you will give yourself on Labor Day for all your hard work during this Hot Summer!

For example:

August 1: starting date
Goal 1: lose 2 lbs before Labor Day
Goal 2: read 1 book per week
Goal 3: follow my daily exercise schedule. intervals 3 x's weekly, daily stretches, walk # steps daily
Reward: Movie night for the family
