Hi everyone. Been busy today, just a few errands but totally cleaned, and hand washed our Ford Edge. Vacuumed it out, wiped it all down and now it's Sparklin clean. Hubby and I both worked on it most of the afternoon. It was kinda nice outside so we both took advantage of it. The car is usually clean, but we wiped everything down just in case. It was kinda humid outside, but we kept busy.

Cheri ~ I sure do hope the peppermint is hardy cause this is son's first plant, and I'm hoping it will survive.

Time to empty the dishwasher and then I'm done for the night. Take care all, have a super weekend, and stay safe and be healthy.

It's been raining off but mostly on all day. No sun today. Maybe tomorrow. Doing the usual housey stuff. Still doing the workout challenge here and I'm liking this new team. Can't do them all but I'm doing most of them. I am grateful for the information we get here on Spark.

Donna ~ How wonderful you got to go meet with friends and actually go to a restaurant. We are still on lock down here and it looks we will still on lock down until the end of June the way things are going here. Michigan is still up there with the virus cases and we still are experiencing deaths every day. People are fussing, but with the high rate of cases we have, I know it's for our own good. We will get there some day soon.

Linda ~ I know the feeling with the rain. We've had more rain that we know to do with. Some devastating in the upper part of Michigan, with 2 dams bursting and causing millions and millions worth damage. People lost their homes and their property destroyed. Only good news no deaths reported.

Cheri ~ Thank you for the congrats. It's hard to believe hubby and I have been married that long. Seems like yesterday. And the crab legs I'm still tasting them in my mind. Gotta wait until next year to have them again. It's my very special treat. Peppermint plants look good, and I gave them to my son. He's trying his hand at growing something for the first time. Will see if they make until the end of the growing season.

Well time to do something in the house, hubby keeps bugging me to bake, but I need to find a healthy something to bake. Not sure what, but I'm going to check out Spark recipes. Later everyone.

It has been such a rainy week. Still exercising indoors (mostly the mall, where it is practically empty) or home. The good weather is coming soon. I am so anxious. I have one other mask arriving tomorrow. I will now have 4. I am wondering if even that will be enough. I think that we will probably need them for a long time. I did some housework today and had some phone calls from family.

We are having a rainy day here. It started sometime early this morning and it sounds like it will be off and on until sometime tomorrow. The grass and plants love it, I would too if the sun could shine at the same time! emoticon emoticon

We went out to our little coffee shop for breakfast this morning and our group of friends all came today! It felt like we were back to "normal" again. The health department says 6 to a party and tables 6 feet apart. There are 6 in our group so that works for us. It was great to get caught up and to have some good laughs, at least this day hasn't felt so long.

Hope everyone here is staying well and that you are able to get out some now.

Gorgeous day here today so far. Got up early, cause I was in bed by 10pm last night. Spent time outside with hubby and son. Yesterday we celebrated our 48th wedding anniversary and my birthday was Sunday, but it was a rainy day, so we just postponed my birthday dinner.

This year cause of the virus it was really hard to find fresh seafood. Hubby was relentless in his search for crab legs for me. Finally found a place, but let me tell you they were super expensive, and I think it was price gouging. Nevertheless, we had surf and turf, compliments to my son grilling. Everything turned out great, especially for the Alaskan King Crab legs son and I had for dinner. Hubby is not a fan of them. I LOVE crab legs. I know I went off the healthy path big time, but yesterday was special and that's that.

Back to the watch what goes in the mouth today. Sparkin and keeping busy. I've been doing the 30 day jumpstart workout challenge on here and I really like it. It has a lot for the core which is quite helpful for the back muscles and just everything else. I'm truly enjoying this challenge, even if I can't do them all, I try.

Cheri ~ you are so fortunate to be able to take out 40 books. Our library does not allow this, and for right now, all our libraries are closed. So it's just digital from now on until they re-open. Like I said I prefer a real book to the digital anytime.

Donna ~ I also like when I get things done early, although I don't always, so that I have free time to just do what I want to do. I'm retired so no schedule for me.

Take care all cause I have some laundry to do, and some more weed pulling, I want to get outside before the rain sets in.

Hugs for everyone!

Betty I agree with you and Donna 100% there is nothing like a real book.Fortunately for me our library allows us to take out 40 books at a time and my husband went in and got me 40 mystery books the lovely librarians recommended for me (We have a profile on our library site and the books we have read come up completed) they did a fabulous job.I have only read 27 of them but then I may have to resort to Kindle too .

Cheri that is wonderful that your son did a special fly-over for his mom.

Betty I agree with you about holding a book and turning the pages, e-books just seem cold not matter what the story is. Guess I am just old fashioned.

Got my exercise in right after lunch so I have the rest of the day to play.

Hi everyone! Been busy today with housey stuff, so I'm really late getting on here.

Cheri ~ Hubby is still fussing with that phone. I've had enough and will wait for my son to come over and give his Dad some lessons and use that college education we paid for. LOL!

David ~ Whew, that was a lot that you did there. Good exercise, just keep an even pace so that you don't burn yourself out trying to do too much.

I'm going to go and hop into the shower and get comfy, settle down for the night and just read my book. I've been trying to stretch it out, cause it's the last one I have, then I'll have to turn to digital books. Nothing like a good book that you can hold and turn the pages, that is so comforting for me personally.

Take care all, stay safe and be as healthy as you can be.

Betty I have had my phone for a year and I am still learning things it can do !
The kindness of strangers made me feel better today .35 civilian pilots did a flyover in British Columbia this evening in honour of Capt.Jenn Casey and the Snowbirds Air team.Of course there was no formation flying but it was a touching thing to do and a significant number of pilots they also have to pay for their fuel unlike the military. They said they were continuing Operation Inspiration in honour of the Public Affairs officer who died and the pilot in hospital. Such kindness.

Wow, getting my exercise points in today.
88*, sunny, absolutely no clouds out.
I've been putting off weed eater, and cleaning up front leaves etc.
I'm having enough sense to stop and sit down every 20 mins or so as I overheat.
I'm also running out of my heart meds. Finally found and made an appointment with a Doctor to be my primary physician. I haven't seen a Dr except visits to ER, in the past 2.5 yrs. I'll be able to establish this, and get my meds filled. Only catch I have to wait till June 18th. I'm supposed to go in on the 13th to do new patient paperwork and labs. It may sound weird but actually looking forward so I can discuss issues and then get referral to cardiologist to check my pacemaker. Also hasn't been checked in 2 5 yrs. The batteries are supposed to be replaced ever 4-5 years depending how hard it's been used. I've been a bit worried about that too. My wife had a close customer where she works. Husband came in and said the day she was scheduled to go have batteries replaced, she died of a heart attack in her car in way to hospital for the surgery. Yes, I want to see the DR .
Well, I've been sitting here in front yard at the lawn table and chair under one of our hugh trees. I better get up and back to work before I really get tooooo comfortable.
Enjoy your day.
David

I can't believe it's the afternoon already because:

hubby and I spent all morning trying to get him settled with his new cell phone. What frustration we had this morning. Goes to show you that new technology is so frustrating. He's still fussing with it. I've had enough with technology, so

I'll wish everyone a great day today, and I'm outta here.

I am fed up with 2020 can I trade it in on a New Year? The Canadian Forces is small.The Air Force even smaller. We lost a plane this morning.That is seven deaths in a little over a week and 5 members down with COVID-19 on top of all the other crap I am just done.

This time you really made me laugh Jan.I belonged to a community theatre group and of course, we used to say "Break a leg" it was just a reflex action .SO after my accident when I got out of the hospital I was unable to act so I was painting sets and I was whinging that I was going to have to mix colours cause and someone said: "Break a leg" meaning good luck of course.I was still on crutches with 19 breaks in one leg and nine in the other . There was a collective gasp from everyone on the stage and he went twelve shades of red and said "I didn't mean that" I just laughed and said "Not to worry you don't have to change the habits of a lifetime cause I broke a few bones" Then the big joke became Don't tell Cheri to break a leg she takes you literally!

That's great Cheri that the comment carried you down memory lane. I did not know the history behind the saying.

I did not mention the other comment my younger brother said to each other …. when saying goodbye---which neither of us liked to do...……..we would say, "Skip the gutter."
and then add: "Break a leg."

Good thing we didn't really mean it---lol.

LOL! Jan that comment took me back in time.My Mum always said "Keep a stiff Upper lip"Academic, author and broadcaster Professor Thomas Dixon believes the ‘stiff upper lip’ was the product of a relatively short period of history between 1870 and 1945, though its influence on the national consciousness has lingered.Sorry my linguistics roots get carried away sometimes!

Good for you Linda getting in to get your nails done and a walk. Yesterday was gorgeous but today gray with a little drizzle. Was glad David got in for a much needed hair cut yesterday, but the shop keeps its doors locked, and only lets 3 people in at a time. Others have to line up outside the door. I need a pedicure but think I will wait a little longer---I will just wear shoes to hide my ugly toes----LOL ....

On that---Hope all of you are well ... and as one of my brothers would say, 'Keep a stiff upper lip!" ......... emoticon

Today I did a bit of grocery shopping - mostly sale items. Afterward, we took a nice walk with hubby. We were dodging raindrops part of the day. It was nearly 80 today, finally warming up, but the rain was still there. More rain this weekend with warm temps. No plans this weekend other than finally getting my nails done. The salons all opened today.

Cheri ~ Since you grow peppermint, do you think it will do ok in a container? Also does it flower? Another thing is once the growing season is done can you clip it and make essential oils out of it?

Betty I grow peppermint it is very hardy (I live in Northern Alberta Zone 3 ) and it is a perennial here.It is very invasive.I plant it around the bottom of the apple trees in my back garden and I have black edging sunk down in the lawn to stop it joining the grass. There are many kinds of mint,orange ,chocolate, spearmint and more.I grow them all.I have loads of recipes and I can pretty much answer any mint questions.

Hi everyone! Getting here real late today. Was a very busy and sorta of a up and down day.
Had to go grocery shopping. That wasn't bad, but it still goes to show you that we need to get back to the normal way of things. Grocery store still showing empty shelves. Not sure why, but I'm sure panic buying is still going on. The meat department, was low stocked and signs all over that they would only allow you 2 packages of any one type of meat. So 2 beef, and 2 chicken, and 2 pork and so on. I'm sure hoping this will be a thing of the past soon.

Son came over and took his car into the dealer for a recall. In the mist of the recall they called him to tell him that a squirrel had come up into the engine and destroyed the wiring system. So that was not a good thing, cause the repair bill is over $1000. Luckily our car insurance is going to cover some it. Now I really don't like squirrels, not only for the all the destruction they do in my flower beds, but now my son's car.

Got a question for anyone. Has anyone ever grown Peppermint? Also if you have what can you tell me about how it grows, is it invasive and it is a hardly plant.

Also didn't do well with the healthy diet today. Meals were totally off today, and I'm now feeling sluggish because of it. I sure hope my blood sugars measure well tomorrow, but I'm not keeping my hope up. Tomorrow is another day and I will do better starting right now, right this minute.

Gots to run take care all, stay safe, and be healthy as you can.

…::Hi everyone! Just stopping by to say hello so you know I am still around! Not too much goin on right now; but am looking forward to businesses opening this Friday--the 15th. My husband desperately needs a hair cut, so I think that is the first thing on his agenda! I have been cutting my own, so mine can wait---I know there will be tons lining up!

Betty---Some nights the hip thing is more painful than others. I am thinking it may be increased due to the extra walking we have been doing outdoors--pounding the pavement. (Back to Leslie Sansone videos---which I love anyway; and less pounding.

As for books, I am too busy w/ my own writing and studying to wrap my head around any book right now.

All for now---hopefully most of you saw the team MEMO I posted on the wall---I think people who said there are too many threads' were right. No team should be bogged down with tons of threads; anyway, just post where you feel like it. No biggie.

Cheri, A Spanish cookbook? I am intrigued. Is it written in Spanish? I bet the recipes are amazing. I hope you share some with us.

That flower bouquet of fruit is so cute. What a thoughtful gift.

Betty, when my sister visited me here in California, I took her shopping with me. She thought the purple cauliflower and purple carrots had been dyed.
Bats can sometimes get lost when flying. I bet the little guy was as terrified as you were!

Good Morning All! Well the week has started and we off and running. Once again Michigan has thrown in a multitude of weather situations. For a couple of days we actually had snow showers, it didn't stick, but had to go out and cover up all my plants. Will now remember not to plant too early again.

Jan ~ Sorry to read that your hips are bothering you. I have a few friends who suffer from hip pain and I guess it's nothing to feel miserable every time you move. Hope you find a solution to ease the pain so that you can sleep. What book are you reading? I started a book called Every Fifteen Minutes, and I'm having a hard time getting into it. It's suppose to be about a sociopath killer that stalks this psychiatrist. Just not getting into it. May not finish this book.

Cheri ~ You will have to share some of those Spanish recipes when you make them. I know that Spanish cuisine is totally different from Mexican, so I'm interested to see what they have to offer. Looking forward to seeing something different.

Belinda ~ Wow, that's a pretty cool looking bat. I'm not much for bats, other than the good things that they do in nature. Back in the 70's hubby and I moved to a Victorian house that had 3 floors. This city that we lived in is out in the country and bats were prevalent there. One night I was on the phone to my girlfriend at the time, and a bat somehow got into the house and swooped down at me. Let me tell you I never ran so fast for a safe haven in our downstairs bathroom, as I did that night. My hubby was working the night shift and I keep calling out of our window, as our houses were extremely close together. Got the attention of the neighbor who called my hubby. He came home and the neighbor and him chased the bat down and trapped it. We let it go outside and he took off like a "bat out of h*ll" LOL! I'll never forget that night. Still gives me the creeps.

Alicia ~ Rainbow carrots? That's a new one on me. I will have to check them out and see if I can find them in my area. People on the West coast always seem to have a better selection of veggies and fruits that we do here in the Midwest. Will be something new to try. Thanks for the heads up.

Well time to get started, got lots of housey stuff to do, before hubby comes home from playing golf. I just love doing stuff more when he's not at home to get in my way. So going to do some deep cleaning while I can. Putting on the tunes and make some good use of my time today. Later going to do a little gardening when it warms up.

Take care all and have a marvelous day!

I LOVE all the newsy postings & photos! That bat is AMAZING! At the nature preserve near our house, we 'count' them & give them homes. They do a GREAT job teaching all the children! Can't wait for them to open up again, so I can perform my marionettes, again!

Hi! 5-11-2020 I love Mondays, helps me refocus on our thriving little business! As far as veggies go, Cucumbers are the best! I had a HUGE 1 on side with my VERY Green drink, today for breakfast! Beets are 1 of my favorites, too! Top of the list for veggies is RAINBOW carrots, YUMMY! I would rather have them, than chocolate! No kidding! Fruits: Strawberries, Apricots, Mango, Tangerine, Avocado, Bananas, & FRESH dates!

( my friend's son made this bouquet for Mother's Day for her, yummy!)

I hope everyone had a good Mother's Day, even if it could not be a traditional one.

I am passionate about bat conservation, it is something I really focus on with the kindergarteners in September, long before Halloween comes along and they might begin to feel afraid of bats. By Halloween they know all those scary stories are fiction.

My children know not to buy me knick-knacks ( I hate dusting!), candy or expensive flowers that will die quickly. I do not like them to waste their hard earned money.
So, yesterday my daughter left a package outside my door, this was inside it.
I just love it!
It is a heavy metal. It will look beautiful hanging on my fence outback.
I could not be more delighted with my Mother's Day gift!

Jan I am so sorry your hips are giving you grief..I have had both of mine replaced but since one hip replacement failed and I refuse to take opiates my doctor recommended Tylenol Muscles Aches & Body Pain it won't help you get a full 8 hours if you have serious pain but it does dull it and allows me enough that I can function.

Happy Mother's Day to you all!

Today is a day of do nothing without any guilt. I keep busy all day yesterday, so I'm just relaxing today.

Cheri ~ thank you so much for the offer, but you are right Michigan is all the way across the country. I might start some lavender in a pot and keep it contained that way. Not sure it will grow that way cause from what I know of lavender it likes a lot of room.

Time to start relaxing so take care everyone, have a great day, and stay safe.

Betty thank you for your kind comments.Lavender is not invasive here because we are so far north but I have to keep an eye on the mint! If you would like when the lavender is ready in late August I can make some pommanders for your drawers.I would say I'd make you lavender shortbread but you are in Michigan I think that is more than half way across the country from here. I could try and put them in Ziploc containers if they crumble you can feed them to the birds hummingbirds love them!!!
Happy Mother's Day!

Hi everyone, kinda getting in here late today. Been busy just doing things around the house, but once I got started it just kept me going all day. Mainly stuff in the basement getting re-arranged and still tossing some stuff out.

Donna~ I never knew there was such a bird called an Orchard Oriole. I had to go look it up. Guess they have a totally orange head where as the Baltimore Oriole has a black and orange head. They are such pretty birds. I feel it was a blessing to see one. Such God's little wonders.

Thanks for the Mothers' Day Wishes, the same to you also.

Cheri ~ your yard looks amazing. What beautiful flowers you have. Wish I had room for lavender, as it's such a invasive plant, but I just love love lavender. We have a pretty big lavender fest here in the summertime, it's a drive, but I had planned on going this year. From what I read now it's been cancelled due to the virus. Not sure if they will change their minds, but for now it's a no go.

Well time to fold some laundry, everyone take care tonight and sleep well.

Betty I am so excited for you to finally get an Oriole to come. We have 2 feeders out and it is like Grand Central Station here. We do live in town, but on the edge. We have had Orioles for a couple of weeks now. They are just so beautiful to watch. We also get the little Orchard Orioles.

I am sending out wishes to all of our Mom's in Spark Land for a beautiful MOTHER'S DAY

Hi everyone. Well Friday it is today and the start of the weekend for most. Being retired it seems like everyday is a Friday.

I am geeked today. Was busy doing housey stuff all morning, but lo and behold out of my window today this guy was at our feeder that we have for him:

He came 3 times to the feeder. You don't know how we've been trying to attract him to the feeder all last year. Living in the city, wildlife can be kinda sparse. So today was a stellar day in my books. I love watching the birds and we feed them in the winter. Not in the spring/summer as I feel they should forage as God intended them to do and teach their young the same.

Cheri ~ you have hydropondics for your herbs? How cool. I've been checking out different systems and I can't make up my mind on exactly how big I want to go. I want to try some lettuces, and tomatoes and maybe some peppers. Not sure all the logistics of it yet and hubby not sure he wants to tackle that project this year. So we shall see.

Well people hope all are doing well and staying safe as you can be. I'm outta here cause daylight is burning and I want to some other housey stuff before I call it a night.

Take care all and stay safe.

Doesn't King Julien just wanna make you smile? Sunshine today, breezy a bit cool, but nice enough to get outside and go for another walk. It's been nice to do that when we can. Michigan's weather is so fickle sometimes, you just gotta take advantage of the good stuff.

Other than the walk, going to do some upper body exercises with weights. Hubby went golfing, yea, so I've got the house to myself for a bit. Going to put on some music and breeze through some light housekeeping.

Cheri ~ I know what you mean about digging, used to that too. I'm contemplating doing hydroponics this year for veggies. Not sure if I can pull it off this year, but I'm definitely checking into it. Since my soil in the backyard is poor, no matter what we do (darn ole maple tree) I'm thinking something else is in order for veggies. Also I've been reading up on straw bale gardening. That might be another idea too.

Well time to finish up here and get going. I'm not going to waste my time on the computer.

Take care all, stay safe, and emoticon for you all.

Betty I am getting rid of some of my daughter's toys now , she will be 34 on the 22nd of May I don't think she is going to want them all now Though I did take the characters from the Wind in the Willows that I had made her when she was 7 out of a box in the garage and she took those home with her.

Yep Mr. Sunshine has graced us with his presence this morning. It's a bit chilly, but later this afternoon plan on going for a nice long walk with hubby.

Got lots of things thrown out yesterday. Some for donation, but just a lot of plain ole junk to be gone. Think I've saved way too much of my son's baby stuff. I know it's memories, but I have them in my heart so out with all this needless stuff I say.

Cheri ~ I knew you were in some kind of accident, but wasn't sure what. Yes chronic pain is taxing on the immune system, as I know a lot of people are suffering from this. I also love to garden, both hubby and I. This is something we have in common, and it's nice, cause I think of all these projects for him to do, and he does it. LOL! I love it.

Sending everyone well wishes today. It's time for me to get started doing something. I think I'll make a new recipe today, using sauerkraut. I've been having a hankering for some cabbage.

Take care all.

I hope the decluttering went well, Betty. Betty, I have artificial hips and knees (yes both sides) and I have psoriatic arthritis .I was hit by a truck so I have chronic pain all of those things impact your immune system. The allergies have made me asthmatic so they are keeping me away from any chance of COVID-19
I have teleconference appointments with my doctor and I am doing well apart from they want to remove some moles as soon as he decides it is safe to do so. I am allowed into my back garden now and I will make the most of it! I love gardening!

Just a quick hello this morning. Going downstairs in our basement and going to start de-cluttering once again. I still have things from my mother, godmother, and uncle who have passed that I need to start to get rid of. I just dread the going over their stuff. I know once it's gone that I'll feel better, but just getting started depresses me. I just need to move past this.

I look at all the stuff I have, and I'm ashamed of myself. Whatever possessed me to accumulate all this stuff, and why in the world am I hanging on to stuff that I haven't used in years knowing that I probably won't be using it at all. The basement is the last of the hurdles for me and since it's a cold and gloomy day, what better way to push past that last hurdle.

Also the upside to this, I'll gain more space, but also I know it will keep me from eating, cause once I get started I keep on going till planned meal times.

Cheri ~ Glad to read that you are still painting and starting to get your garden ready. Being outside is it all the allergens and pollen that would compromise you?

Linda ~ Looks like you got a very good workout indeed. I'm glad that you were able to get so much activity in during these times. I know when I sit at the computer or just laze around all day I don't feel motivated to do anything. So keeping busy and active is the best medicine for us both.

Betty, I am doing a lot of painting and working to get the garden ready.I have never worried about being immune-compromised before. It is not going to resolve itself So eventually I will have to venture out Still with cases still climbing here I am safest following the doctor's orders. It is new for me to actually pay attention to limitations I guess the idea that people younger then me have died has scared me.and some of them had no discernible risk factors.

I got in a good workout today, a combination of cardio and strength exercises. I received the good news that one of our fitness trainers is going to give us online training 3 days per week starting tomorrow. I am so happy. I don't know when our gym will reopen and how things will LOOK when it does. After all, there is a lot of shared equipment. The past couple of days we have had a lot of veggies. Eating a bit lighter.

Getting here early today. Glad to see everyone doing well and keeping busy. Yesterday was a gorgeous day here in Michigan. We actually got plants planted yesterday and spent the whole day outside. Was tiring but a good tiring. After showers just sat and read the both of us. Went to bed early.

Well today Michigan has done it to us again, we dropped 30 degrees today. Now I have to be on the lookout for frost warnings. I told hubby we were jumping the gun planting so early in Michigan, but it's ok, we'll cover the plants and take in hanging basket. It seems that Michigan can't make up it's mind weather wise.

Planted some new perennials this year, because all the ones we planted years ago, were getting spindly and not blooming very much. It's because we have a large old maple in the middle of our backyard and it robs all the flower beds of their nutrients. When the stores open up we need to put down organic matter. Planted a foxglove, delphinium, and beebaum which is suppose to attract hummingbirds. I'm hoping to see some this year.

Jan ~ you have cosmos blooming already? Wow the West coast sure has an early season, more like Florida.

Linda ~ Glad you got to see your DD and her hubby. I know all this social distancing is sure keeping families apart. I know we can use technology to see them but it's not like in person. I'm not liking the new "normals".

Donna ~ they extended the lockdown? Wow and I thought we had a strict guideline here. Our governor is fighting tooth and nail to keep everyone safe. She's leading our State like a Mom would, and even though everyone doesn't like it, it's for our own good. We are 3rd in the nation with the most cases and deaths.

Alicia ~ that Star of Jasmine looks gorgeous. I'm am so sure they are loving all the extra care you gave them. Would love to just stand back there and just smell. I have some candles that are scented with jasmine, love them.

Cheri ~ Hoping that all the problems you have with your auto immune system resolves itself. Thank goodness for the care you are getting from your doctor. Been up to any crafty projects lately?

Well people time to get busy around the house, so take care and enjoy the day.

I am immuno compromised so even when the province lifts its lockdown I need doctor's permission (I have just been given permission to go into my own back garden for 7 weeks I was not allowed out of the house!) So Donna I will be around trying to keep our spirits raised!

Cheri, so sorry. Hope it gets easier for you & your husband, soon.
GM we are here for you!

emoticon 5-2-2020 It's Saturday & I played in our garden. The jasmine needed some love & fertilizer! I got to it after walking LUCY. Spent about 3 hours weeding, feeding & adding more top soil & checking the drip system. "They " are all happy now. No one can see what I did, but I KNOW the jasmine is happy!!!! I think it may bloom for another week or 2, with my love. They are in BIG pots, so they needed it. It's 95 now, I'm resting after a VERY quick swim (my first time this year, water still a little cold) & fresh strawberries & cottage cheese, pool side. I'm taking it a little slower today, yesterday was fun but VERY intense out in the world! emoticon I'm doing SP Nicole's 12 minute core work out, then maybe read this afternoon. I'm reading a book about our national parks. PRETTY! Have a great weekend everyone!

(our wall of Star Jasmine, back yard before)

(our front door with jasmine growing up trellis, YES! The sent is FABULOUS!!

Our state is on lockdown and one of my DDs came into our house for the first time in 2 months today. She didn't stay long and didn't want to get too close to me and hubby. But it was great to see her and her hubby. Prior to that hubby and I took 2 walks. It is near 80 and beautiful. Enjoying it today because tomorrow we will have rain. I also did some housework and shopping. Getting in some strength exercises today as well.

…:::Taken from my still collection....:::45 Minute outdoor brisk walk. Nice to get fresh air and enjoy the sunshine. That is how we started our day; got a few groceries, vacuumed the living room, and going to spark for a few.

Betty--I also take blood pressure meds---and I remember the caution on the insert, but I am outdoors quite a bit in the spring and summer---Have never had the problem---wonder if your body will get used to it. Guess time will tell---or maybe wear a big brim hat.

Hope all of you are enjoying your weekend---and may we see lots of sunshine and May flowers!

Sorry I haven't been in here for a bit. Not doing anything special but seems I've been busier than I think. Weather is breaking so, I've been outside quite a bit weeding (a never ending job) and preparing flower beds once again. Deciding what to plant if we plant anything this year.

Stayed out too much in the sun because I came in one night and my face was fire engine red, with splotches all over. My hubby was like "what happened to you?" Come to find out, I guess I have to be extra careful in the sun now. My new blood pressure medication has a warning not to be exposed too long in the sun. So here goes all the sun screen big time. Face returned back to normal, but now I won't even think to go out before sunscreen. A first in my life.

Even with this virus stuff, life goes on. Am learning to cope with the new "normals" out there. I'm sure hoping now that they have been studying this, that there will be a vaccine to combat it like the flu vaccine.

I'm rooting for science. Well time to do some other stuff, take care everyone, keep as safe as you can, and know that I'm thinking of all of you.

Well Canada just keeps getting kicked.We lost 6 soldiers in the Adriatic when a chopper went down.My husband has been retired five years now I clung onto the hope that sad as it was I would not know any of them nope that was not to be we knew two of them. When I was talking to my son-in-law's Grandma who was in the airforce herself and at 78 has been at military and retired military life longer than me she said"Get used to it dear, when it stops being the people you worked with it starts being the children of the people you worked with" Like the advert says "Military there's no life like it" cause it isn't just a job it is a life.

Last Day of April....and Hubby & my Anniversary .

To close April ....here are a few smiles....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
THIS IS WHY WE LOVE CHILDREN
1) NUDITY I was driving with my three young children one warm summer evening when a woman in the convertible ahead of us stood up and waved. She was stark naked! As I was reeling from the shock, I heard my 5-year-old shout from the back seat, 'Mom, that lady isn't wearing a seat belt!'
2) OPINIONS On the first day of school, a first-grader handed his teacher a note from his mother. The note read, 'The opinions expressed by this child are not necessarily those of his parents.'
3) KETCHUP A woman was trying hard to get the ketchup out of the jar. During her struggle the phone rang so she asked her 4-year-old daughter to answer the phone. 'Mommy can't come to the phone to talk to you right now. She's hitting the bottle.'
4) MORE NUDITY A little boy got lost at the YMCA and found himself in the women's locker room. When he was spotted, the room burst into shrieks, with ladies grabbing towels and running for cover. The little boy watched in amazement and then asked, 'What's the matter, haven't you ever seen a little boy before?'
5) POLICE # 1 While taking a routine vandalism report at an elementary school, I was interrupted by a little girl about 6 years old. Looking up and down at my uniform, she asked, 'Are you a cop?
Yes,' I answered and continued writing the report.
'My mother said if I ever needed help I should ask the police. Is that right?'
'Yes, that's right,' I told her.
'Well, then,' she said as she extended her foot toward me, 'would you please tie my shoe?'
6) POLICE # 2 It was the end of the day when I parked my police van in front of the station. As I gathered my equipment, my K-9 partner, Jake, was barking, and I saw a little boy staring in at me.
'Is that a dog you got back there?' he asked.
'It sure is,' I replied.
Puzzled, the boy looked at me and then towards the back of the van. Finally he said, 'What'd he do?'
7) ELDERLY While working for an organization that delivers lunches to elderly shut-ins, I used to take my 4-year-old daughter on my afternoon rounds. She was unfailingly intrigued by the various appliances of old age, particularly the canes, walkers and wheelchairs. One day I found her staring at a pair of false teeth soaking in a glass. As I braced myself for the inevitable barrage of questions, she merely turned and whispered, 'The tooth fairy will never believe this!'
8) DRESS-UP A little girl was watching her parents dress for a party. When she saw her dad donning his tuxedo, she warned, 'Daddy, you shouldn't wear that suit.'
'And why not, darling?'
'You know that it always gives you a headache the next morning.'
9) DEATH While walking along the sidewalk in front of his church, our minister heard the intoning of a prayer that nearly made his collar wilt. Apparently, his 5-year-old son and his playmates had found a dead robin. Feeling that proper burial should be performed, they had secured a small box and cottonwool, then dug a hole and made ready for the disposal of the deceased.
The minister's son was chosen to say the appropriate prayers and with sonorous dignity intoned his version of what he thought his father always said: 'Glory be unto the Faaather, and unto the Sonnn, and into the hole he goooes.' (I want this line used at my funeral!)
10) SCHOOL A little girl had just finished her first week of school. 'I'm just wasting my time,' she said to her mother. 'I can't read, I can't write, and they won't let me talk!'
11) BIBLE A little boy opened the big family Bible. He was fascinated as he fingered through the old pages. Suddenly, something fell out of the Bible. He picked up the object and looked at it. What he saw was an old leaf that had been pressed in between the pages.
'Mama, look what I found,' the boy called out.
'What have you got there, dear?'
With astonishment in the young boy's voice, he answered, 'I think it's Adam's underwear!'
NOW IF THIS DIDN'T BRIGHTEN YOUR DAY,GO BACK TO BED AND FORGET IT.
emoticon emoticon APRIL! 4-30-2020 I had an intense time, yesterday. Mom (91 yrs.) went into the hospital. She couldn't walk, or even put her legs into bed. Her new room mate, (a God send) called 911. Turns out Mom was dehydrated. Drinking only about 4 cups of tea, a day. (they wouldn't let me into the hospital) Mom's room mate is NOT a care giver, just a wonderful friend. She couldn't lift Mom's legs into bed. She has a bad back. When she moved in with Mom, in late January, Mom was doing good.I talked with Mom, late afternoon after she got home. We talked & cried & laughed. She promised to drink more water. I was hoping to visit Mom for Mother's Day. But with everything being closed AND DH & his business still going & Lucy needing me here, I'm not going. I did many errands, 'out there'. I only go out about 1 time a week. This episode with Mom, helped all of us, realize we need to make a new plan, for her, just in case. So we are.
Today I hacked more of the Cat's claw. About 3 feet. It is SO pretty, sorry it has to go. But the neighbors house has become a fire trap. Just not worth it. Also, it is killing bushes. BUMMER. Just to let you know, our property is quite small. Not even a 1/4 acre. It has a 1,500 Square foot house & A HUGE pool. Not really much room for a plant like this. I'm sure it would be beautiful on VERY large acres of land. But not in the city. The landscapers put it in, when the pool went in, 2005. I knew it was climbing over the wall & asked the gardener to keep it trimmed. But, it is what it is ,right? I AM getting ALLOT of exercise, & it is helping me let go of frustrations. A GREAT work out. I feel SO accomplished when I finally finish for the day. ALL in early morning. 102 degrees yesterday. I start after LUCY's walk. So I'm back to work, thx for reading! IF I can help you in anyway, just ask! Anyone want some Cat's claw???? LOL!
(before)
(during, still many feet to go)
(our pool, LUCY pup & wall, today. Back right corner, top of photo)
I've never had children, but having been a furry & feather 'kid' mother, I understand how hard this must be for her. I left a message.
emoticon 4-28-2020 THX Peaches11: Great info about cat's claw being an herb & usually grows in rain forest. Interesting it is in our back yard. The area it grows IS very rain foresty. Lot's of humidity, because of the pool & watering system. Under palm trees. We actually planted it on the fence backing up to the park. Didn't want kids coming over it. Seems to work. The area I am clearing out, I didn't know it was growing there! Truly amazing plant. I 'worked' another 150 minutes, today. 3 more feet. PLUS found the water control 'hole'! Been looking for years! After walk with LUCY & before the heat hit. About 6:30 am. I sure am getting exercise! Mostly like pulling ropes. GREAT core workout. I'm back to work, (inside). Not sure this is very interesting to you, but it IS what I am doing! Be happy everyone! & I will try, too!
Jan thank you for sharing the information to reach Mary Jean. Such a sad story. I have a close friend that lost her 11 year old son in a car accident almost 30 years ago. She still suffers from it, so much pain when you lose a child.
Belinda I am so sorry for your loss too. That pain never ends.
I was trying to get some trimming done outside and the wind came up! it's blowing almost 30mph right now. We are dry here so lots of dirt in the air. I had to hurry and close all of the windows I had open. Looks like I will be getting a dust cloth out when the wind goes down!
Good morning everyone,
I know I posted this on the team page---some do and some don't always see the stuff on the wall---so that is why I put this note here. (It is something that touched me deeply---this is a sweet lady here in sparks for several years-- link provided if you would like to post on here blog.
Today I would like to ask ----This spark member reached out on the feed yesterday---for support---she will be burying her beloved son---19 years who lost his life to brain cancer. (I noticed when I first read, there were very few posts---so if you would like I have added the link so she can get some loving support. I thank you very much in advance.
Yes! We are VERY blessed to have our pool. It IS a huge expense for us. DH can't take care of it any more. So we have a 'guy'. I might be swimming soon! The temp in pool is about 70. I KNOW that sounds high, but I like it more like 77 or so. The temp goes down to what ever it is at night.
emoticon 4-27-2020 I've been adding A lot more minutes, gardening. emoticon emoticon It is AMAZING how much 'cats claw' has taken over part of our back yard & the neighbors house, from our side!! The vines are an inch thick! I DO need to get out at sunrise if I'm going to tackle that plant again, it IS huge & spreads EVERYWHERE! emoticon 180 minutes of gardening! Glad my 'core' is strong!
First, I walked LUCY dogie emoticon . Then I got our raw veggies packed, rainbow carrots; asparagus; celery; snow peas; for my 'grab & go' even though I don't go out much, these days. I still eat them for lunch or snack. (Turkey jerky; hard eggs; or celery & peanut butter, too) emoticon Made our GREEN drinks, breakfast. Also made Lucy her favorite 'soup' veggie & chicken. emoticon The temps are going up. It's 96 today. 102, emoticon tomorrow, only down to 77. It was 67 high LAST Monday! I am being VERY adaptable emoticon with our life right now. Plus working, of course! Sharing a little with you! emoticon Be happy & safe!! AND I will try, too! emoticon emoticon
