I prefer the gym than home because i workout harder there. Stretching is usually done at home because i find it more relaxing.

I burn more calories and work harder at the gym. I usually do light workouts at home. For some reason I am lazy at home. emoticon
During the summer months I like to run outdoors instead of the gym.

I think 2 times a week is a great start; then eventually work your way up to 3 times a week. I have a gym membership that I barely use, I prefer to work out at home or walk in the park or around the track. But I do like to use the exercise bike and weights at the gym. I think I would use the gym more if they offered classes.

I think there are advantages to both. Working out at home removes all excuses such as leaving your workout clothes at home, not knowing how to use the equipment, and not being able to keep us with the other people in the classes. The problem is that you may not work out as hard because you don't have others around you to push it. One thing that I did was to purchase a heart monitor watch. This helped me to monitor how hard I was working out to be certain I am burning fat. The watches only cost about $10 and it really helped me to step up the pace.

I like to do both. I try to go to the gym more than stay at home. I feel better when I get out of the house to go to the gym, and plus I feel like I'm wasting my money if I don't go to the gym

I do better when I leave the house to exercise. Home means I don't have to do it.

I enjoy them both, working out at home and in the gym. I find that I am more motivated to workout harder when I'm in a class. If I see someone putting in a greater effort than I am, then it tends to get me pumping harder.

What doesn't kill me can only make me stronger.

When i do exercise i do jazzercise, i belong to a rec center but got bored just walking the treadmills and eliptical machines. My cousin and i both go and we keep each other motivated.

Go for you. I agree 2 times a week to start is very good. Then once you get stronger you could increase it to may 3 times a week.

Glad you are taking matters into your own hands, you are better then me I had a couple of memberships and both times I let them lapse. My advise is to be serious and stay consistant. Good Luck

I used to work out solely at home, but I just got a gym membership. I need to workout outside of the house, because I find to many other things to do instead of working out. I am looking forward to going! It will give me some me time out of the house as I am sahm, and I will look forward to working out and getting healthy and being able to take classes at the gym as well. I do not know how many days a week I should start out with to not get burned out. I was thinking maybe 2 times a week for 30-45 minutes? emoticon
