Kate - taking swimming lessons was a good idea! I also considered that, but couldn't afford it at that time. And I actually have few or no opportunities to swim these days, so I guess I won't bother. If I should happen to go out in a boat, I'll be sure to wear a life preserver!

You certainly did have an active day yesterday! I can imagine how tired you would have been after all that.

Your DGS sounds like a very bright little boy!! He's certainly doing well with reading and math! I hope he enjoys being on a horse today. It sounds like another busy day for you today.

I got good news from my doctor yesterday - the spot on my lung is now a 'tiny shrinking nodule'!! That was a big relief.

It's very hot here today. I am having a big glass of iced tea and waiting for my library volunteer to bring the 3 books the library has for me.

Enjoy your day!!

Leslie - I can swim but not very well. I also figured that once you learned you'd never forget, but when I started swimming again as an adult, I'd forgotten everything I learned as a child and had to take lessons to re-learn the strokes.

We had a very active day w/ a climb up a small mountain in the morning (3 hrs) and a 'cave' exploration in the afternoon. They're not really caves; they're spaces and tunnels between huge granite boulders where you creep and crawl and twist through tiny spaces. We were all pretty tired out.

As I was typing this, DGS was looking over my shoulder, read the word boulders, and asked if I was writing about our day. He's really reading well now. And yesterday when we were driving he was adding up our ages. I was impressed that he could add 66 and 66 and 7 in his head.

Today is going to be pretty warm so we'll take DGS for his horse ride this morning and then mini-golf. The afternoon will be at the lakefront beach.

Kate - I'm glad your DGS is now safely with you. I've never been in a salt water pool, but it sounds nice. Did I tell you that even though I had been swimming my whole life, the last time I tried to swim, I just kept sinking - I was amazed. emoticon I thought that once you learned to swim, you'd always be able to do it, but that is apparently not the case!

We're going to have a very hot weekend; it will feel like it's over 100 with the humidity. I do have a doctor's appointment this afternoon, but otherwise I will not be going far.

My husband and I have been separated for almost 14 years, so I decided it was about time to get the divorce. The guy who is helping me was available yesterday afternoon, so I was able to fill out a lot of the forms online. He will send me the ones I need to sign, and then I have to send them, and the marriage certificate, and a check to the government. There is nothing emotional about this since we've been separated so long.

Enjoy your day!

Leslie - I didn't know you were going through a divorce. That must be frustrating not to get hold of the person helping.

DGS is here safe and sound. It was a wild ride through pouring rain yesterday morning. But so lucky that the day we had to spend in the car is the only bad weather we're getting this week. We had a nice swim in the pool before dinner. I thought with the rain more people would be staying around the inn and swimming but we had the whole pool to ourselves. It used to be a regular chlorine pool but they have switched it over to salt water. Much nicer.

Today should be sunny and low 80's. Perfect for hiking, visiting caves and wandering around Weirs Beach board walk and arcades. We'll stop in the afternoon at our favorite ice cream place with all the toppings - just what DGS likes.

Kate - How great that you were able to go riding, but it's too bad you can't do it again with your DGS - oh well, he'll be able to ride next year.

I hope all your driving goes well today. This is also the last day of school for the kids here.

I am getting frustrated with the guy who's supposed to be helping me with my divorce. I keep leaving messages but he's never available when he says he will be.

I am getting meds and groceries delivered today, and I've called my library volunteer to see if she can pick up 3 books the library is holding for me.

Enjoy your day!

Leslie - the weather is certainly like that. We complain about the cold all winter and then the heat all summer. If only spring and fall lasted longer.

We've got that same rain here now. Today is supposed to be stormy most of the day, but we’ll be spending a good part of the day driving so it won’t spoil any vacation plans. We’ll leave mid-morning to drive back home and pick up a few things and then to DD apartment to pick up DGS’s clothes, pillow and stuffed bear. Then to the school to pick up DGS. We should arrive back here around 3:30 this afternoon and the rain should be clearing out by then. Not sure what we’ll do. Perhaps swim for a bit if DGS is energetic. Or play games if he’s tired out.

Yesterday we went riding. I had hoped we could all go together but the age cut off is 8 not 7 like I thought. So DH and I went riding and Saturday we’ll take DGS for a much shorter ride being led by one of the handlers.

Kate - Portsmith sounds wonderful!! I'm glad you were able to go.

How nice that DGS will be spending some time with you. I'm glad your DD will be able to visit her friend in CT too.

We're finally getting some rain! I think it will be raining for most of the day. It's going to be very hot and humid this weekend, feeling like 100+. I wanted more heat, but not quite that much! It's another case of 'be careful what you wish for'!

I hope you have a great day.

Leslie - enjoy your reading.

Yesterday DH suggested going to a historic village in Portsmith, half way back along the route home. We’ve driven through Portsmith many times but never done anything there. LOL. It was an interesting place b/c it’s not just one time period. Some of the houses had educational exhibits – about the trade industry of NE seaports, the ship building industry, the types of construction used in houses, etc. There was one house that had examples of all the different types of doors used over the centuries. And then there were houses that were set up at different time periods w/ costumed interpreters ranging from colonial times, civil war times, early 20th century, and the latest was a grocery shop set up as WWII era with ration lists and war posters. A fun day of walking around and learning.

DGS has his last half day of school tomorrow (Thursday) so we’ll drive down in the morning and grab his stuff from his apartment and pick him up at school. He’ll have tomorrow evening, all day Friday and Saturday for vacation and then come home with us on Sunday morning. DD is taking some time Saturday to visit a friend in Connecticut so she’ll pick him up at our house Sunday evening.

Kate - I agree that eating out for every meal is too much. I couldn't finish either of the dinners I had in Toronto.

It sounds like you had a very good day yesterday. I was cold all day but it is supposed to be warmer today, and will be hot by the end of the week.

No big plans for me today, just more reading. I hope you have a great day!

Leslie - nice to hear that you're getting a refund for the bus. It is nice to eat out but not for every meal. I find it gets to be too much food.

We walked all around town yesterday morning, seeing what was new and visiting the old favorites. Stopped for lunch at a creperie.

Then in the afternoon we headed to the woods and hiked in to a pond in a conservancy area. The trail led all away around the pond. At the far side there were 2 beaver dams and a beaver lodge out in the middle. We passed a number of trees that had been felled by the beavers – amazing things they can do w/ those teeth. I made dinner at the cabin and we had an early night.

DH had forgotten to turn off his phone and we were woken up just before 5 AM by an alert from the security cameras – it was the neighborhood cardinal trying to land on the camera – a beautiful flash of bright red.

Well, I had just typed a reply but before I could send it I answered the phone, and that was good news!! I am getting a refund from the airbus for my inconvenience when they cancelled the 9 AM bus the day I was coming home from Toronto and I had to wait until after 1 PM to be picked up. However, I somehow managed to lose the message I had typed here...

I think it's a big treat not to have to cook every meal! I loved eating out when we were in Toronto.

It's chilly here again today. It was about 40F when I got up, and will only get up into the 60s. Our heat is shut off in the building of course. It is supposed to get hot later in the week.

I've been to my exercise class this morning; that was good, and I was glad to get back to it after missing it for 2 weeks due to various physical problems.

Enjoy your day!!

As expected, I woke early. But then I went to be early, too. It rained during the night so the deck chairs are wet. I'm sitting inside right next to the sliding doors so I can see the lake and feel the fresh air. The little birds keep hopping onto the deck and chirping at me before flying off.

Last night after we unpacked, we walked over to one of the local restaurants and had a nice dinner. I brought some of the sides home. I'll warm them up to go with dinner tonight or tomorrow. We often eat out at lunch and make breakfast and some of the dinners here.

I checked in with Mema to and she sent me a nice long reply:

Hi, Kate

Yes, we are back in WI. We got back up here just before Memorial Day weekend. But that Monday evening I started feeling crummy and was sick off and on for 3 weeks! Flu, cold, bad cold, then bad flu! Sheesh! This last week I finally felt good all week, so hopefully everything is out of my system!

A couple of days where I was feeling OK, I was able to get to the Twin Cities to see Dakota in her dance recital! She was darling as ever and so happy to see me!

DH has had 2 dr. appts. One was with his neurologist and then the 2nd appt. with a surgeon. Looks like he is now going to need back surgery from a problem that started up the end of last summer. But he couldn't do anything at that time because we were leaving for TX. It's not major surgery, but the dr. is going to make some cuts in his back bone to alleviate the pinching that is causing pain. It's in his lower back and that's where there are a lot of nerves that run down thru the spinal cord and are being squeezed together. He'll just have to stay overnight. Usually the dr. doesn't even require an overnight stay, but since DH is 70 he wants to keep him one night. Which I'm glad about since he'll be having the surgery in the TC's and we live 125 miles north.

I'm headed to the TC tomorrow to see a girlfriend and my aunt and then have dinner with about 8-10 gals I went to High School with. Most of whom I haven't seen in 25-30 years!! I'm looking forward to that.

Then just trying to get into some sort of routine. I haven't been able to schedule my mom's memorial service since I wanted to wait to see if DH needed surgery. So since he does, (and he's calling to schedule on Monday) I'll see when that will happen, give him time to recuperate and probably do something end of August or first part of September.

I will try and get back to the chat thread next week. I haven't even been on SP. But being sick, I did manage to lose about 5 lbs. and so I'm trying hard to keep that off!! About the only benefit of having been sick! LOL

Tell Leslie hi for me and hopefully you'll see me "chatting" next week sometime! Thanks for checking in. I appreciate it! I hope all is going well for you.

Leann

Leslie - we're having some unsettled weather this weekend, too. Possible thunderstorms both days. Your post says 3:28 AM, I'd say that's "unusually early". LOL. It sounds like you had a fun day w/ the shopping and lunch.

I never did get any of the packing done so I'll need to concentrate today to get stuff ready for our departure tomorrow after church. It's only a 2 hour drive so we're not pressed for time. Although usually there is a lot of traffic on the weekends heading out of town. It's better now that they have electronic toll booths. We used to sit there sometimes for almost an hour just to pay our $2.

Yes, we can swim right there if we jump off the dock. There's a public beach w/ sand on the other side of the harbor so we will probably go there. And there's a pool over at the main resort, too. There used to be small sailboats we could check out and then there were paddle boats. Not sure what's there now. We'll see when we get there.

Kate - the place you are going looks lovely!! Can you swim right there too? Do you have access to any boats? Are you leaving Monday?

We are going to have a cool and wet weekend. My friend took me out to do errands yesterday and it was a lovely day! Once again I'm caught up with things. I seem to need to go out every 2-3 weeks. I overdid the shopping at the Bulk Barn. I got 2 kinds of licorice candies, 2 kinds of nuts, 2 kinds of tea, some sesame rice crackers, and garam masala.
Then I overdid it at the dollar store! However, I did actually need most of the things I got there. I also went to the library to pick up a book that was on hold for me. When we were done shopping, I treated us to a great Greek lunch! We had a very good time.

I hope you have a good day! I am up unusually early - just couldn't sleep, but I'm sure I'll nap later. emoticon

Leslie - I think GF took the cat since it was DS's Christmas gift to her. I think she must be moving to an apartment so she couldn't take the dog.

I'm going to be getting all the wash done today so I can pack up clothes tomorrow. There is some stuff I want to do outside, too. Yesterday I pruned my lilacs but it was hot out and I got tired. Today is supposed to be cooler so I can get work out there longer. I have spin class, too, so it's going to be a busy day.

I'll probably still be on line next week if the internet connection cooperates. I will bring my laptop with me.

Vacation - we're going to the New Hampshire town of Wolfeboro which bills itself as the "Oldest Summer Resort in America". Families from Boston have been summering here for over 200 yrs. We bought a week at a time share here in the late 1970's. Back then, we weren't sure the trading options would hold up, but we figured we'd like going there even if we could never trade it. Turns out we trade it and go else where about half the time. Our cottage is marked w/ a red x on the lower left. The other photo is from our deck. We have the upper half of a tiny cottage. One bedroom and a living/dining room w/ a kitchenette along one wall. It's a very old resort so it's not luxurious but the location is wonderful. We can walk all over town or just sit on the deck and enjoy the lake.

Kate - I'm very sorry that your DS has broken up with his GF. That is always sad, especially when they have been together so long. I'm sorry your DGS will be upset about it too. Will the GF be taking the puppy with her, or does it belong to your DS?

Where will you be going on your vacation? I will miss you but hope you have a wonderful time.

You sound very organized about your shopping! At my age, I probably have a lifetime supply of pretty much everything. I do order things online, from LL Bean, and from The Added Touch, but I need to stop that! I am planning on an austerity program for the summer. I need to make more progress in paying off my credit card.

Have a great day!

Leslie - I'm glad the bras came and fit well.

I don't like shopping either so I tend to do it in 'bulk'. When I switch seasonal clothes, I count up what I have and go shopping to fill in the missing things. This year I figured I needed 3-4 short sleeve shirts and 2-3 pairs of shorts. Two weeks ago I went and got all the shirts and this week I got the shorts. I ended up w/ an extra pair of summer weight pants b/c of the buy 3 get 1 free offer.

I got a note from my DS, he has broken up w/ his GF. So sad for them both. They've been together for a year and a half. He moved back from Reno partly to be with her. Sigh! I know he's hurting but not much I can do. DGS is going to be upset, too, since he really liked her.

Today, I'm going to start getting stuff together for our vacation next week. We'll leave right after church on Sunday so I want everything ready to go on Saturday so we just have to load the food in the car.

Kate - I did have a wonderful time with my housekeeper, who, as I expected, was able to figure out how to unhook and re-hook the bras that did finally come! They are certainly much more supportive than my old bras - thanks so much for the tip!

It sounds like you did very well shopping! I really detest shopping, and especially trying things on. Congrats on the smaller size!!

Today should be a quiet day, so I'm looking forward to doing a lot of reading.

Have a great day!

Leslie - hope you had a nice day w/ your housekeeper there.

I went out shopping yesterday to buy some new shorts. Last year I lost enough weight that I had to give a way most of my shorts. I got back into the smaller sized ones I had stored away, but I only had 3 pairs and needed some new ones. I hit a nice sale at the Talbot's outlet - buy 3 and get one free. So I got 2 pair of shorts and 2 pairs of thin summer pants for $45.

Kate - yes, the photo is from June 8, when Erik and I went out for dinner. Thanks, I like it too.

Thanks for telling me about the dogs; I love Labs!! I'm sure they're all very appreciative of your DS and GF. The puppy looks like a smaller version of the dog on the left!

The Mexican restaurant sounds like a real treat, and I would have loved to try that sundae too! I love spicy food.

My housekeeper will be here today, so I'm looking forward to seeing her!

It's cooler today, and much less humid, so I'm happy about that.

Have a great day!

Leslie - what a nice new photo. Is that from your time w/ your DS?

The 3 dogs are all rescues. He got the darker one on the left as a puppy soon after he moved out to Reno b/c he was lonely. It's a mixed breed - part beagle - and very hyper.

The lighter one is a lab. He met that dog when they are out walking around Reno and found out that he was in a foster home. He had been given up by his owner who was living in a car and couldn't feed him any longer. He was so skinny you could see his bones but he's the kindest, gentlest dog. The foster owner was trying to find a permanent home for him so DS took him. He was about 2 yrs old when my DS adopted him, but he knows who his savior was. He just adores my DS.

The puppy is also a mixed breed that they got just a few months ago. She was being publicized by the local doggy day care where DS sometimes takes his dogs. One of a litter of mixed breed pups. She's super friendly with her tail going a mile a minute. She's going to be a lot smaller than the other two but one of her litter mates that is still in this area is twice her size already.

Father's Day the kids took us out to a Mexican restaurant that DS and GF had found. It was good food and not very crowded so we could hear each other talk. For dessert they had a Habanero Chili Chocolate Ice Cream Sundae which sounded interesting. I asked DH if he wanted to share a dessert. The waitress brought a whole handful of spoons to we all had a few bites. It tasted just like a good chocolate ice cream but left a nice spicy burn in your mouth.

Kate - I love the photo of the dogs - they all look very sweet! Is the one in the middle a Lab? What are the other two?

I was wrong about our weather - it got hot yesterday afternoon, stayed hot all night, and is still hot and very humid now. I'm not sure of the current temp but it was 31C which is 87.8F. It's the humidity that bothers me. I don't have any A/C. We have a severe thunderstorm watch now, and it should cool down later.

Our library also has a lot of great activities for kids. I know what you mean about being used to a free schedule, but on the other hand you're lucky to be able to see your DGS.

Have a good day today!

Leslie - my DS and his GF went and got another dog 2 -3 months ago. She's a cute little puppy.

I'm enjoying the last week of school time schedule. My summer schedule is more constrained since we have DGS here at the beginning and end of each day except Mondays. I'll take him to drop off and pick up at camp T - R. We will have him here for about an hour each morning and 2 hrs in the afternoon. So I have lots of time during the day but it feels like I don't have the freedom to choose anything at any time. LOL I'm so used to having a really free schedule since being retired.

We'll do some special things on Fridays - when DH is free. I've been signing up for passes from our Library for different museums and attractions for those days.

Kate - I agree, it is frustrating!

I'm sorry it will be so hot there tomorrow; I think we will be staying in the 70s. It's good that you have A/C for relief.

I thought your DS had 2 dogs - where did the 3rd one come from?

I'm sorry you have to hurry more on Sunday mornings now.

I hope for a relaxing day today and plan to call my son a little later. I have a library book I need to finish, so that is my plan for this afternoon.

Have a great day!!

Leslie - frustrating to have to go in for an appointment just to get a few questions answered.

We're having nice warm weather but they're saying record breaking heat on Monday - 95 and humid. Definitely a day for the a/c.

We dog sat last night for all 3 dogs. I just went down and let them out and fed them so I need to get dressed to take them for a walk. Our church has switched to it's summer schedule w/ services at 9:30 instead of 10:45 so there's not as much time to relax on Sunday mornings.

Pat - it's good to hear from you and I hope the retreat is very fulfilling!

Kate - I'm sorry you will probably be needing root canals. I have lost 2 teeth that needed those because I could not afford them, and the crowns. I hope I won't be losing more teeth.

We can't schedule calls with our doctors. Last November when I had the scan that showed the spot on my lung, I was informed about that over the phone by someone from the doctor's office. I was referred to a pulmonologist after that, who said I would need another scan in 6 months, so that was the one I just had. I don't see the point in having a CXR, which doesn't show anything. I just want to know if the spot is still there, and, if so, has it grown... I will call Monday to get an appointment. I just want straight answers to my questions.

It's quite cool this morning, but will be warming up significantly later today, and even more tomorrow. I am happy about that!

Have a super Saturday everyone!

Leslie – can you schedule a phone call with the doctor? We can do that – talk to the doctor on the phone rather than making an appointment. The nurses and technicians aren’t allowed to tell you anything. At least you know that things haven’t gotten worse if they don’t need to see you right away.

Pat – hope the retreat is very nurturing and helpful. I remember going to a retreat like that where the meetings went all day but we went home every night. I liked that. And Yes, HP is a great friend to have in your corner.

I checked my calendar yesterday before I got dressed and realized I had a dentist appt. right in the middle of spin class so I had to cancel spin and do that instead. I had one tooth that had gotten very sensitive to hot and cold so I thought it might need work. My dentist found another one that looks like it has some root issues so I'm scheduled to see the endo-dontist for one and possibly two root canals. emoticon

Sign up for retreat this weekend. Kind of different one only there for day and home each night. So I will be leaving in a bit. gone all day Sat and Sun then back Monday evening. Hope all is well with everyone. Working at keeping myself busy both in and out of my house. Doing the next thing and asking HP to guide me along the way. I thank HP for all the help I have been given along this trip. Many times HP has given me the help before I knew I would need it.What a great program.

Kate - I hope your spin class goes well today!

I did get a call from my doctor's office yesterday, but all she could tell me is that I'll need a chest X-ray in 6 months. She couldn't say if the spot is still on my lung which is all I want to know, so that was frustrating. I guess I'll have to make an appointment to see my doctor in order to get more details. I am not happy about that.

Enjoy your day!

Kate - it's wonderful that your DGS loves math! I used to love it too.

The storms yesterday came before I went out, thank goodness, because they were quite dramatic. It's gorgeous today - sunny, low humidity, and high 60s; it could be a little warmer!

My doctor should have the result from my scan either tomorrow or Monday, so I hope I will also find out how it is.

Have a great day!

My DD does have a severe math disability and her partner is bad w/ math, too. They're constantly amazed at this kid they have who finds it fun and easy.

Leslie - I hope you don't get caught in bad weather when you go out today. And that the scan comes out good.

I think your storms are passing us by. We just have a few showers in the forecast for tomorrow. All in all, it's been a lovely week for weather here. 70's and 80's and mostly sunshine.

Kate - thanks for the welcome back! I lost track of this post for a couple of days.
Huge congrats to your DGS on his 2 awards - good for him! I understand his embarrassment because I've been in similar situations, but I hope he now feels proud of himself!

Pat - it's good to see your post. I'm very sorry about your loss and your grief. Kate's idea of a grief group is very good. If you haven't been to one, or even if you have in the past, you might find it helpful.

Today we are supposed to get storms. I have to go out late this afternoon for the follow-up CT scan to check on the spot on my lung which was discovered last fall. I hope it won't be stormy while I'm out.
Have a great day everyone!

Pat - so glad you posted here. None of us have a lot of profound things to share - just the stuff of daily life. The important part is to connect w/ another person.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I just celebrated my 45th anniversary this year and I can only imagine your pain and grief.

I helped facilitate a grief support group a few years ago. What you're feeling is quite normal. All the things we own can bring back memories and stir up emotions. Be gentle w/ yourself and you'll make it through.

DGS's award ceremony was yesterday. DD says he was embarrassed b/c he got called up twice for awards - academic achievement and math.

I have been reading all you shares, not much to add to them. I have been working my house both inside and out. 5 years ago my husband died and after 45 yrs together it was hard to move on with my life. Finally adjusted to being alone and improving my life. I have working on cleaning out my excess items. I can't seem to push though all of the emotions that are coming up Well that is enough for now be talking to you later.

Too bad about the bus delay. That really was inconvenient.

Good morning to you both - I'm back!!

I did have a wonderful time with Erik!! We had a steak dinner Thursday night which also had shrimp (prawns) and was delicious. Friday we had breakfast at a Second Cup coffee shop, then went to the Aquarium – that was fantastic! For lunch, Erik went back to the Second Cup for sandwiches – he brought me a warm zucchini and cheese panini; I'm not sure what he had. He had discovered a place called The Canteen, which was a block or two from the hotel. We were given a great table outside for dinner, so we had great fun people-watching as we ate and talked. I had poutine (which I couldn't finish!) and he had short ribs. He had thought we might go to the Blue Jays game Friday night, but my legs were collapsing from all the walking, so we stayed at the hotel and watched a movie on TV, The Wedding Crashers. Each of us had seen it before, but it was definitely worth watching again – very funny! Oh, I forgot to say that after we had lunch we went to the AGO (Art Gallery of Ontario), which was OK, but I think I was really getting too tired to enjoy it. As I said to Erik, I probably did more walking Friday than I usually do in a whole month. My back and hips and feet were all killing me Friday night, and still this morning too. It will take me some time to recover.

I did get my big hugs! I held Erik's arm a lot as we walked too. I was sad to see him walk away yesterday morning. It is good to be home again too, and sleep in my own bed. I got up at about 4 am both days in Toronto. I just stayed in bed and read until Erik got up at around 7 on Friday, and 6 yesterday.

We got to the airport at about 7:30 yesterday morning, because Erik needed to check in for his flight; we had breakfast together, and I found where I needed to wait for the airbus. It was sad to watch him walk away. My bus was supposed to leave at 9 AM, but since I was the only passenger for that trip, they 'couldn't find a driver', and bumped me to the 1 PM bus, so I had a very long wait, and that bus was packed full. It's actually a big van, and I was squished into the seat with two big men. I am thinking of asking for a partial refund, since they really inconvenienced me.

We had perfect weather on Friday. Yesterday was cloudy, but today it's clear and will be 72. I doubt if I'll be out today though. I still need to recover.

Cynthia - I'm glad you have A/C again!
I am also sorry about the person who was gossiping about you. I agree with Kate.

Kate - I'm very sorry about the little boy whose father was murdered - that's really awful.
I did find some good photos to give my son - he really appreciated them.
I'm glad the spin class has been going well for you.
I love the idea of a butterfly garden!
I hope your DH was able to bring you a plate of food before it was all gone!

I hope you both have great days!

Kate~ A cookout sounds like so much fun! Glad you are having nice weather for it. Enjoy the plate DH brings you!

Well I have air conditioning once again! It was fixed a little before noon! I am so grateful as more hot days are ahead of us.

Yesterday I did go out. I met a friend downtown for coffee. He had coffee. I had a lime refresher, a green tea drink with lime, ice, and sweetner. It also has a little minty taste to it. After sitting outside in the shade for a while, we went to Dollar General so I could pick up a few items.

No plans yet for today. However, my best friend texted me late last night saying she might be able to meet some time today. That would be great!!

Wishing y'all a wonderful day!

Cynthia - hope the A/C got fixed. I don't sleep well in hot weather.

This weekend we're having that wonderful June weather that we get occasionally - 70's and sunny. It's particularly nice since the church is having a cookout in celebration of all the graduates. I made a veggie salad to bring.

My "job" is counting and recording the offering after church so I'm usually late to the cook outs. There is usually very little food left. If I'm hungry after church, I'll have my DH bring me a plate. He knows what kinds of food I eat.

Good morning!

Another day without air conditioning. This is day 3. Our units are wall units and are run by some sort of huge water cooling machine of sorts. Great big. Anyhow the entire thing is being replaced and they are still working to get it up and running. They said they are hoping to get it done today. Oh I do hope so. Last night I went to Lowe's and bought another fan. I have a friend that is putting it together for me.

Not sure what the plan is for today. I kind of feel like just staying home and watching my show on Netflix. A lazy day of you will.

Kate~ oh my what a terrible tragedy. I will be praying for the little boy and his family. Also for all the school children affected by this. I hope DGS has a good day.

I currently do not have a sponsor. However, I do have a pastoral counselor that I can talk to. Thank you for sharing your great wisdom of how to approach the situation. I certainly don't want to get into an argument.

I too hope Leslie is having a wonderful time.

Blessings!

DD will be dropping DGS off for swim class this morning. DH usually goes to pick him up but she has some work event this morning. She called last night to warn us that he might be a bit moody. The father of one of his class mates was murdered last week and all the kids are upset. No wonder. I thought it was hard when my DS's friend lost his father when they were in middle school. I can't imagine losing a father in 1st grade and in such a manner.

It has been really good to be back in spin and my knees are not hurting the way they were when I stopped a while ago so it's good.

Cynthia - renovation can be noisy but they don't usually take that long. As long as they don't start pounding too early in the morning.

Sorry about the gossip behind your back. Do you have a sponsor you can discuss this with? In general, it's better to ask someone directly if they have a problem w/ something you've said or done but only after a lot of prayer and preparation so you don't get sucked into an argument.

Hope Leslie is having a wonderful time w/ her DS.

Hello and good morning! emoticon

A lot of pounding and hammering going on next door. My apartment building is getting renovated entirely. I don't mind the noise for a bit.

Last night a friend let me know that one of the ladies I had befriended has been talking ugly about me behind my back. I am so hurt and disappointed. I know she had been avoiding me suddenly but I never would have dreamed she would do that to me. Course I don't know her all that well. I don't know what to do, but count my losses and move on. I thought about confronting her, but I think that would only turn into an argument.

It's another hot day here. I might venture downtown for iced tea or coffee and sit in the shade or in the air conditioning.

Kate ~ A butterfly garden sounds very nice. Way to go increasing your time at spin class. You are making great progress!!

Have an enjoyable day!!

I'm headed to spin class today. The first week I stayed 30 min and the second week 45 min. so I'm going to try for the whole class today. I was surprised that I didn't feel more saddle sore. The first week my lower back ached so I worked on keeping my core taut while standing the second time and I was fine.

Leslie - hope your trip is smooth and uneventful and that you have a lovely time w/ your DS.

Cynthia - nice to have sister time while getting the wash done. I'm w/ you - I don't llike to work outside when the weather is hot.

I've been looking on line at garden plans for a butterfly garden. I should start the digging soon before it gets too hot around here. I'm not sure I can do more than the planning and digging this year. By the time I get that done, it might be too late to plant much. I'll see how much energy I have.

Hi!

Sitting out on the screened in porch at my sister's. It's rather warm, but I am enjoying the sunshine! One load of laundry done and second is in the dryer. Her washer is commercial size so I am able to get it all done in just two loads.

My sister and I went to Arby's for lunch. Enjoyed our chatting and the food. She is outside weed eating the back yard. It's a hot day, so I don't see how she does it.

Kate~ How have you been doing this week?

Leslie~ Wishing you safe travels and a wonderful good time with DS.

Enjoy your day...Friday is almost here!

Leslie - I have used the same style of purse for years b/c I know where everything is inside it. I hate having to dig around in a bag looking for something. I get AmeriBag Healthy Back Bag which looks very much like your new Sash Bag.

Hope you found just the right photographs for your DS.

Cynthia - my husband broke just one rib last year and it hurt him for a long time. Sleeping was particularly difficult.

Nice to have your sister close enough to be able to go over and do laundry.

Good morning friends! emoticon

Kate~ Glad your finger is healing some and feeling a bit better.

Leslie~ Sounds like a busy day ahead. Organizing a new purse can be a chore. I find it hard sometimes to make sure I get everything I need in the new one. I am bad to forget things in the old. How nice of you to have great photos to share. I hope they are an easy find.

Gals thanks again for your prayers. I know how very fortunate she is not to have broken her hip.

Last night I got a much better night's sleep than the night before. Not much planned for today, unless my friend calls wanting to meet for coffee. I had a nice phone chat with my sister. It was a good start to my morning. Tomorrow I will be going to her house to do laundry. I am grateful for that as it saves me from having to go to the laundromat.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!!
Blessings!

Cynthia - I'm very sorry about your aunt's fall! I too am glad she didn't break her hip, but I know it hurts to breathe with broken ribs. I am also praying for her recovery.

That's great that your filling won't cost you anything!

Kate - I'm glad your finger is getting a little better. That does sound painful!

I did have a good time with my housekeeper yesterday. Today I'm skipping the exercise class because I have a lot to do here. I want to find some photos of my son and daughter when they were young so I can enclose one or two in a card for my son, Erik. The old photos are in a big old trunk, so it will take me a while of digging. I also need to pack my small bag, and reorganize my purse. It's a new one, and I need to be able to find the things I would be looking for. I have been using a fanny pack for several years, in order to have one hand free, since I use a cane, but the fanny pack would destroy the look of my new pretty top. The new purse is called a Sashbag, and was advertised online. It has a few problems, like where to keep cash and change since a wallet won't fit... I have 2 change purses instead.

I hope you both have great days!

Cynthia - we'd been looking at a new lap top for several months. My old one had gotten very slow and frustrating.

Glad the repair for the filling won't cost anything.

Saying a prayer for your aunt. Although broken ribs are very painful, they're much better than a broken hip.

My finger was very swollen and I couldn't bend it at all. It's getting better, but it's still stiff and hurts when I try to bend it all the way.

Leslie - hope your time w/ your housekeeper was relaxing and fun. We'll be getting that nice warm weather tomorrow although it's already beginning to get warmer.

Hi!

Kate~ Yay a new laptop. Mine is no longer usable since I updated it with windows 10. It slowed it to a crawl, and so I haven't used it in over a year. Sorry about your finger. I hope the pain has let up some.

Leslie~ I hope you enjoyed time with your housekeeper. I am so glad you're having warmer weather. About time right?

I went to the dentist today for a cleaning and a filling came out. Sigh...So I go back in two weeks to get it redone. Thankfully there will be no charge for the new one. I am just glad it happened there and not at home. After the dentist, I went to the pharmacy to pick up prescriptions and a few items. Awhile later, I walked downtown and sat in the shade with my coffee and people watched. It was relaxing. It's been gorgeous again today!

Please pray for my aunt (My mom's sister) who is 85 years old. She fell in her driveway last Thursday and is in the hospital with 4 broken ribs and a broken toe. It's a miracle that she didn't break a hip. She has early onset of dementia and gets confused. She thinks she fell due to there being ice. I appreciate your prayers.

Tonight will be an evening of Netflix.
Have a great relaxing evening!

Congrats on the new laptop! I hope it will be exactly the way you want it.

My housekeeper will be here today so I'm looking forward to seeing her.

Our weather is gradually getting warmer, and should be perfect for Friday; I'm happy about that.

Have a terrific Tuesday!

My new laptop arrived yesterday and DH spent some time loading it w/ everything from my old laptop. Then we did some fiddling w/ the settings to get it almost the way I like it. The font size is still a bit smaller than I want when it comes up automatically, but I can expand it with the touch screen. When we went looking, the one that DH was thinking about has a kind of textured surface - sort of suede like - and I told him it would drive me crazy so we got a different one that has a smooth metal surface. It's silver rather than black.

Kate - I'm sorry about the bras too emoticon Oh well.

I'm sorry about your sprained finger - it's amazing how much a 'small' thing can hurt!

I tried to write earlier but my computer froze, and I lost what I had written.

It's cool and rainy here today. I've been to the exercise class, and my friend will be taking me out to do errands this afternoon.

I hope you both have good days.

Cynthia - we took our DD one of our old ones - it used to be in my DS's room but he's in his own house now. We can just shut that room off.

How nice to have a good talk w/ your friend and to be looking forward to seeing her soon.

Leslie - sorry about the bra shipping. I've never tried to get anything from them super fast. Fingers crossed that it gets there early this week.

We're supposed to get rain today and tomorrow.

I sprained my finger on the weekend. I was lifting my heavy insulated bags of groceries out of the shopping cart into the back of the car. I guess I just twisted it the wrong way??

I took off the finger splint last night to cook dinner but the finger started aching so I put it back on. I have it off this morning since it's extremely frustrating to try to type w/ one finger in a splint. One funny thing was that our church accompanist had her baby finger in a splint. I wonder how she could manage playing piano?

Ha Leslie we were writing and posting at the same time. So sorry about your bras not coming in on time. How very disappointing.

Good morning! emoticon

Kate~ Bummer about the air conditioner. Is there a Habitat for humanity store nearby? They often get a.c. units and you can get one at a reasonable price. I hope DD finds some good child care those few days. How nice that you will be going on vacation!! Where are you traveling to?

Leslie~ I bet you are getting really excited for your trip!! I hope you have some sunny warm weather. Enjoy your magazine. I don't subscribe to any magazines at the moment, but my favorites are ' Real Simple' (hmmm that doesn't look right...oops) and 'Motor Trend'. I love cars.

It's nice and sunny at the moment. It was beautiful most of yesterday until a storm passed through. Yesterday afternoon I met a friend at Starbucks and we sat at the tables outside in the shade. We had a nice time chatting.

Last night I had such a wonderful time having a long talk on the phone with my best friend. It was so nice to hear her voice. Better yet, she will be coming into town next weekend! I am so excited and I can hardly wait!

Today, I have a lot of cleaning to do. I feel overwhelmed by it, but once I get started hopefully it'll get better.

Have a wonderful day!

As far as I know, we didn't get rain yet, but it's supposed to start this afternoon with possible storms.

I am rather unhappy with the place where I ordered the bras a week ago yesterday, and paid extra for faster delivery. I was just notified yesterday that they have been shipped. Now there's almost no chance they'll be here by Thursday. I am sorry I won't be looking my best, with one droopy side...

I'm very sorry about your DD's A/C - that was a lot of hard work, and then to have it not be working must have been very frustrating.

I hope you have a great day!

We did get some rain in the afternoon but it was after we had taken DGS back home. My DD had muscled her window A/C to the 3rd floor from the basement - it took her 45 min. - and then it didn't work. We brought her one of our old ones.

This cooler weather is nice but it won't last.

Have a lovely day.

Kate - sorry I didn't see this thread yesterday - I finally sought it out this morning, so now I should stay subscribed.

We didn't get thunderstorms here either, but it's much cooler today! Monday's high will only be about 60. I hope it will be warmer than that when I go to Toronto, or I'll have to rethink my wardrobe choices.

I'm sorry your DD will be left scrambling for child care - I remember those days; they were very difficult. It's great that you will be able to help part of the time. Where are you going on your vacation?

I went downstairs early this morning to get yesterday's mail; my New Yorker was there! I'm looking forward to reading part of it this weekend, but I want to save some of it to read during my travels.

Have a great Saturday!

I guess the thunderstorms moved south of us b/c i woke up to sunny weather. And another warm day. Tomorrow it will drop down and be cool for the next week.

My DD got a message from her after school care that they were closing up on June 15th to get ready for the summer program. That leaves her scrambling for care for a week and a half until the 28th. We'll probably have to drive down and pick him up for a number of days during the week of the 17th. But we are going on vacation the following week. We plan to come back and pick him up on the last half day of school and take him for the last few days of our vacation. But she'll need to find something for Mon - Wed. that week.

Leslie - we'll be getting the thunderstorms tomorrow and then some nice cooler weather. I hope you do get good weather for your trip.

I'm off to spin class today for the second time. I may try to stick it for the whole hour this time - well maybe for 45 minutes. I don't want to increase it too quickly. I felt OK after the half hour last week.

Then the car needs to go to the shop for it's routine maintenance.
