I've been hearing a lot of good stuff about this game. I am definitely going to add this to my small, but growing collection!

So far so good on the Walk-it-out. I've been doing well with my fibromyalgia and have now challenged myself to add 500 steps every other time I walk. I've found that once around a block/grid takes about the right number of steps to open everything. Adding steps will soon allow me to open a block and a half each session.

I was getting confused wandering around looking for rainbows and songs.

I have a lot to unlock yet.

I am planning on being snowed in this weekend (18-24" in PA) so I ran around to find Walk It Out - checked BJs, Target, Walmart and finally got the last one at Game Stop (the do have an inventory checker online so you can see if it's in stock at your nearby stores...if you live near one).

I'll have to write again after I play. My how things have changed. Before a storm I used to make sure we had enough sweets & snacks, not fitness games - lol.

We have a small living room. Not much room to walk around. Yesterday as I was playing this game my husband suggested that I use the treadmill. I tried it today. In 30 minutes I walked 1.8 miles. Normally I walk only slightly over a mile. I got more steps in, more perfects and for the first time I got a medal for calories burned. I worked up a sweat for the first time. The only drawback was that it was a little difficult to get the hand steady to click on things. I think this is just practise. I am going to alternate using the treadmill and walking in place. It certainly was fun for a change.

Wow your stats are amazing! I am ahead of you in one spot only... I have 1 constellation unlocked! I have 8 more songs to unlock but I am not in a hurry to do so, I have the fear that I will lose interest when there are no more new songs. Looks how many miles you have walked since you got this game! I am in awe...

Today I will write down my stats too and post them.

I still love this game too. This morning, I finally unlocked all 120 of the songs, as I finally found the rest of the green cd's at 2 am. I had to collect the magic clocks just so I could look at the map to see if the songs were there. I've been playing the game on Normal mode to make the game last longer.

Here's my stats from the records page.
Map Unlocked - 100%
Route Branches - 69/69 - 100%
Town Building - 1682/3346 - 50%
Songs - 120/120 - 100%

Zodiac Signs - 0/12 - 0%

I have used all three and I way prefer the DDR pad. The nunchuk missed a lot of my steps, and I kept stepping off the balance board.

My new way to play is to walk the whole island first looking for rainbows and CDs, then concentrate on a small stretch of road that I fully develop for the rest of the workout. Yesterday I worked on the windmills near the lighthouse and walked 3 miles.

I now have 112 songs unlocked, and have found some strange ones. Konami is a Japanese company and many of the songs are in Japanese, one in particular I can't get out of my head now. All in Japanese except for the words "Jack Russell Terrier". Anyone else found this song? I really like it.

I can imagine expansion packs for Walk it Out. How about Paris, Egypt, an Alien landscape? Wouldn't that be fun?

Has anyone else noticed sometimes the capsule costs seem unreasonable? 350 steps for a bale of hay and only 250 for a small house? 400 for a luxury home? A bale of hay is almost as much as a luxury home? Lol! I am not wasting my money on hay at this point, too expensive! And too many trees and streetlights!

A good strategy is to buy something tall in each part of town to help navigate your way around. The windmills, the lighthouse, an apartment building, a store, etc. so when you look around you can tell where you are headed. This has helped me a lot.

Still having a great time with this game.

I found it took some getting used to the balance board, as you can't really stride, but march in place. I liked the DDR mat much better, but now am going to try it with the nunchuk down my pants... That's not as dirty as it sounds right?

Yes it will work with just the nunchuk. Put the nunchuk in your pocket or as I like to do it right in my pants leg. The nunchuk acts like a pedometer counting your steps.

I thought it was awkward using the balance board as you can not really get a good stride and do not have the ddr pad so don't have any input on that.

If you don't have pockets in your pants try using a fanny pack but in the front. I've done that with the Wii Fit & Fit Plus Island runs and it works pretty well.

Yeah I opened a suspension bridge during my walk last night so I am exploring an all new part of Rythmn Island. Looking forward to my walk again tonight. I am hitting 1.2 miles consistantly would like to try and push past that tonight.

Can't remember if I passed on the best way to use the nunchuk method is to put it in your pants leg about mid way to your knee. This works best if you have on pants that are not too loose.

WOW..I just joined this team a few days ago and actually came on here today to ask if anyone had tried the "Walk It Out" game because I have been considering purchasing it for myself and found this post...lol question answered.
Right now I am using WiifitPlus and wii Sports and having a blast. Can't wait to add "Walk it out" and start adding more to my routine.

Thanks everyone for all of this info...

I also changed my setting to easy so that I can open music faster. But when I do complete it (think that is a ways away) I will just restart in normal mode. I found the easiest way to do this is to put the nunchuk into my pants leg rather then a pocket. My thighs are too big to use the strap from ea active so this is a good option for me right now. I am hitting about a mile every time I get on now.

BTW does anyone else find themselves stomping during Boom Boom Pow?

I got this game right after it got out and have been loving it. At first I was using the dance mat with it, but now I have turned the missed beat off and turned the keeping with the beat to easy and use it with the leg strap from Sports Active. It is doing a pretty good job of counting all my steps. Since I am not one with patience, I also turned the number of points needed to easy so I can buy things and see progress quickly. I usually pick an area or block to focus on and just keep walking in circles until I have everything bought. I start out thinking I'll play the game for 30 minutes and usually end up playing over an hour to just buy "one" more thing. Even on easy this game has so much to buy that it will keep me going for a while. What about when I am done? I plan on creating a new identity and starting over. I'll do that until Walk It Out II comes out =)

Hi Petvet, just seen your post. I think that this game will last a while. I have my settings set to normal and on the Records screen I have played the game now for 37 hours, 41 minutes. All that time playing and I only have 45% of the town building unlocked. So yes, this game should last you awhile.

(I previously posted a similar review in a Gamers group I belong to, but I *love* this game, so wanted to let people here know as well!)

Just wanted to give you my 2 cents CDN...

I received this game a few days ago and am really enjoying it! I found it works great with balance board, and I really like that my son and I can use our Disney DDR mats and walk together (he's 5).

I'm not in very good shape and have some balance issues after a head/brain injury, and I'm happy to report that I find Walk It Out quite a bit easier then getting on/off the balance board, stepping, kicking, etc., required in some of my other workout games. Some days, depending upon health and meds, I have trouble walking down the hall without holding on to the walls! I also really enjoy the music tracks, the fact that you can walk and not have to stop & reset anything and there are lots of things to see on screen. I just hope it lasts longer then I am thinking it might...

I've been using the EA Sports Active game and am waiting for Wii Fit Plus to arrive, but enjoyed this one so much that I think this will be my new go-to workout for my easy days. So much more fun then simply walking on the treadmill IMO!

For the constellations, you have to collect 12 matching blue zodiac signs just to get one in the sky. I have 65 out of the 126 zodiac signs but no matching ones yet. Eventually I'll get a constellation. Just about have all the hours for the magic clock as well - 62 out of 96.

Go into your settings and make your points easy. Then you won't lose points if you miss the beat. You might not get perfects but you won't lose points.

Also, you have to collect a certain number of the same zodiac before you actually have it.

I decided the last time I walked to pick an area and just walk around and around until I built up the area. I was getting confused as to exactly where I am on the map.

Also, I just discovered that if you don't have enough points to "buy" something it stores it in the circles above until you have enough points. However, don't select another item if the circles are full or one of them drops off. And, if you're building points and you click on something that costs less points than you've built up, it will be bought right away and you have to rebuild those points.

I do like it a lot however because I'm not bored at all and find myself walking even longer than I plan each time.

I consider this first couple of weeks a learning curve and I'll get it eventually.

Keep trying.

God is my pilot.

This game confuses me! I've clicked on zodiac signs, the points were subtracted, so I am assuming I got them.... but when I end the game it says I didn't get any zodiac signs.
I have no natural rhythm anyway so this game is challenging for me!

Great! I've been doing this game on a daily basis as well. I had a peek at my records and I seen that my total time is 36 hours, 51 minutes. That's a lot of time invested into a video game. I love it!

Yes, if you are playing it at night and you want it to be daytime, you have to collect the magical clock symbols. There are 24 hours you can collect but each time is divided up into 4 parts, and scattered through the three parts of the island and in different times as well. Same thing as the songs and the zodiac symbols. Keeps the game interesting because you will have to change the time to collect all the pieces eventually.

I just got this game today and I must say I LOVE IT! It's really fun and upbeat. I planned to only walk for a little while and ended up walking over 2 miles and kept it up for 50 mins. That's the longest I have ever walked in my life. It goes to show what one can do when properly motivated, lol. I think I am going to be doing this game everyday!! It will stay interesting for some time to come because there seems to be endless things to see and do on this Island.

Some people mentioned it being a always night, I think you can change that under the portable player--there is something called a magical clock. I think you can change time there, but I haven't tried it personally.

I would totally recommend this game to anyone using Wii for exercise. It is very flexible. emoticon

I love this game. I have had it for nearly 2 weeks and have been on it daily. When I first started I could barely make it a 1/2 a mile tonight I made it .9 almost hit that mile. I could really feel it in the back of my calves. I fell on the ice a week ago and landed on my knee so it has been rough going for working out but this has really given me the opportunity to get moving more. Like others have said some of the songs get you into a jog which I would have thought impossible for me just a week ago. Now I can jog right through Vacation and then transition to a slower song afterwards. I also like that you can select the songs you want to listen to. I prefer the nunchuk method as I don't have DDR and it was awkward to use the balance board. With the nunchuk you can walk around your room if you have the space it really breaks up the workout. I have been just keeping track of my distance/miles and entering it into my fitness here on Spark. Tomorrow I hope to break through to the 1 mile. I give this game a A+ as it really gets me moving and my heart rate up there.

When I started playing this game I aimed for a mile. That was a good start. Then I worked up to 2 miles for the second week and now I am attempting 3 miles! I saved up over 3000 steps and built a whole block in the luxury housing area. I call one particular house "my house" now I try to end up there every day. I have 85 songs unlocked now. I was thrilled to death when I unlocked "What is love", I have to add the little head bop like in Night at the Roxbury!!

I think it is a great game and I love it so far.

One more tip: if you go to the map you can click on the person icon and find out how many miles you have gone so far before saving it. Today when I checked I had gone 2.9 so I walked a little more to make 3 miles.

Hmm I'm looking at the reviews for this game and it seems like it could be fun. Any ideas on the calorie burn? Would it be comparable to doing the Wii Fit plus for the same amount of time?

I usually play it for between 40 minutes to an hour at a time. The longest I've ever gone for was 70 minutes. I just base my workout according to minutes; I have a hard time stopping sometimes.

I usually plan what part of the island I want to walk in, whether it be the ranch, shopping/home district, or the apartment/hotel district.

I collect chips for one song and when that song ends, I cash it for something that is lit up. I continue to walk along and try to save them up for something big, but I do cash one in at the end of every song so I feel like I am making progress but also saving for something big. When I have enough for like an apartment building (600 chips) I'll cash it in, and continue to save for my next big item.

How do you guys plan your workout with this game? Aim for a specific amount of time, amount of steps, number of songs, or just go until you can't go any further? I've only played it once but just sort of jumped in and couldn't figure out when I was supposed to stop :)

I'm still loving this game as well. It is very motivating to earn those chips and cash them in. I like to save them up for a two or three songs and then cash them in for a building to use as a landmark. It's pretty neat seeing the island's buildings lit up in the evening.

You'll get the hang of using the remote to change the angle soon with some practise. At first I thought it was going to be impossible but the more that you do it, the easier it is.

What a workout this game is for me! I can't seem to do much more than 30 minutes.

I like it a lot as I'm working up one heck of a sweat! I got 5 of the rainbow colours today but just couldn't keep at if for more...soon hopefully.

I really like all the built-in motivators to keep you going.

I got mine on Friday, I had to order it from Amazon.

It's going to be interesting because I have trouble holding the controler steady when I walk. Hitting the bubbles and cd's is not easy for me yet. But I did open some new songs and got a good walk in.

I'm going to try it with just the nunchuk in my pocket because I have trouble stayin on rectangles of the board and paying attention to the screen too.

I think I'm going to like it though.

I looked at 4 different stores yesterady and nobody around here has it yet. I guess I'll have to order it from Amazon.

But since I couldn't find it, I bought Gold's Gym Cardio. When I finish Sparking this morning, I'm going to go down to the family room and give it a go.

Write on!

I got this because I am really out of shape and thought it would be the easiest thing for me. Well, I don't have any other fitness walking thing to compare to, but it was a challenge for me. Because of health problems, I don't walk outside, so this is it for me. Hopefully, I'll be able to improve with time. I may keep trying it on my cardio days, but until I can burn enough calories, I'll do Wii tennis and bowling, too.

Dawn, that is a great idea to use the leg strap for those who don't have shorts with pockets. I wear a pair of my husband's old cut-off track pants as it has perfect pockets to set the nunchuk in.

I haven't tried the balance board or don't have the correct dance pat, but I really like using the nunchuk as it forces me to concentrate on getting the beat right on. I'm getting better at using the remote to aim at the capsules too.

Got a rainbow two days in a row, and for the songs I have 50 out of the 120 songs. I really hate the very slow songs as they are too slow to walk to. After I collect all of the songs, I might just delete the extremely slow ones.

I used the nunchuck today. I liked the freedom of being able to move around. For me it is better than using the board.
Warren thinks I can do better.
Yikes! I gotta get a live!

I don't have this game yet but it sounds like fun. For those without pockets do any of you have the EA Active game? If so put that on and slide the nunchuk into it like you would for the EA one and it should register fine. I actually stick my Wiimote in the leg strap when I am doing the Free Run on Wii Fit Plus.

It is a huge island. Much bigger than the one on the Wii Fit game. It takes quite a while to walk around and get the feel of where everything is.

Amazon said mine's on it's way. I'm looking forward to using it.

Is the Island WuWu Iland like in Island cycling on the Wii Fit and Sports Resort?
