As for the Kung Fu I've found it's all in the timing. I struggle with the leg lifts but don't miss often on the hand moves. But I know what you mean by it not always responding to your move because I get misses once in a while that make no sense. As for the Rythm Parade, that is the most complicated one and I have no idea how you score on the rings. I was exhausted just trying it once.

I love the feature where you can add minutes of other activy in the activy log. I picked up the Sports Resort today and there are several activies that are at least 2-3 mets if you do them right.

I have had that problem with the Kung Fu and the Rhythm Parade. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I think maybe it is how or when we punch or wave it. It takes practise. I don't get the kettle on my head nearly as often.

HI everyone!
I have been doing the wii active every morning, and I love it! Some of the excercises I really feel workin'! I just bought the wii fit plus too, and so far I love that too. I have only had it for two nights. I love the karate excercises, put for some reason my remote and nunchuck dont work all the time on some of the punches and kicks, and I end up getting the kettle over my head! Has this happened to anyone else? I don't know if it makes a difference how I am holding the remote. I have not fully looked at this teams messages yet, is there challenges? Thanks!

I LOVE the obstacle course. At least 1/2 of the calories I burn doing the obstacle course is laughing hysterically when I'm bounced off the course.

emoticon

I definately feel the burn in my bum when I stick with it.

Hang in there. Keep working at it. I don't finish every time but I'm burning calories every time. Isn't that the goal?

what have you done today to make yourself proud?

I managed to do it this time. 444, nice number

Wish it wouldn't take so long to burn off enough calories. I'm doing the 30 minutes I'd set up in the exercise section on spark but the calories burned is only half of what I'm supposed to be getting. *sighs*

I know you're not supposed to actually jump. However, it's kind of frustrating that if you jump the slightest in the game on wii fit plus, it penalizes you making the game start over completely. I finally made it to the 3rd level on the obstacle course and couldn't handle doing it again after being sent back to the beginning (including 0 points).

Hi everyone. I'm Becky and my Dh gave me my Wii Fit Plus for my birthday last Nov. I love it! I did 30 mins of Yoga tonight and try to do a little every day. I just discovered the My Routine (or whatever they call it) feature. Nice!

I bought Jenny McCarthy's Your Shape and I'm really having a tough time with it. Seems every time I do it, I get worse and worse. I've tried playing with the room lighting and the camera angle but no luck. Has anyone else had an experience with this?

Thanks

The traditional cooldown is about 5 - 10 minutes of stretching, walking or slow cycling on the stationary bike.

I have a question... normally I work out daily with the wii doing a combination of wii fit, my fitness coach, golds gym cardio boxing etc.etc. first thing in the morning for three hours (no I'm not kidding). I have an effective warm up and work out routine. But what do most of you do as a cool down? What cool down exercises are the most effective? How long should a typical cool down be? Any comments are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I have a question, if you use another program compatable with the balance board, are the stats recorded in the Wii Fit Plus program?

Thanks

Hi everyone! I just joined this group and was wondering where do I go for the challenges or do we just do the Wii 10 minutes each day?

I like how on the free step I can change the channel to watch tv while doing it. However, it doesn't tell you when to change which foot to step with first and I always forget to do it. The 20 minute long one starts to get monotonous with the stepping.

My nun-chuck is wonky; i have to hold it a lot higher than the remote end. We noticed this with boxing in Wii sports and with marching every time it's a nun-chuck only action, i get a miss. If i hold it up above my head and flick it, I get a perfect.

I really like the new Rhythm Parade. It's fun! It cracks me up to see our crazy Mii's playing instruments... like Voldemort on the Snare drum and Admiral Ackbar on the cymbals. My hunny's Mii always plays the tuba. LOL.

I also like the Kung Fu one, it's fun, but I always thought those kind of moves were called tai chi.

I usually do 4-5 yoga exercises to warm up, then the basic step once. Then I'll do the advanced step, advanced boxing, and long run til I have 20 minutes of the cardio. I make sure I keep moving between exercises to keep my heart rate going. Then to cool down, I'll do some of the games, then another couple yoga poses. I always start and end with Sun Salutation, that's my favorite yoga move. Then I get off the board and do my own stretches.

And yes, those trainers get really annoying repeating themselves over and over. I wish they would just not say anything.

I mostly do the free step in arobics, the bicycle, and the free run, I try to do a half hour at least two of them each day.
I wish there was a specific warm up and cool down routine tho,

Tried some of the fit plus games today like the cycling and snowball game. Very fun and not easy. The parade was cool but weird. I like the bicycle one but it took so long.

Is there a way to make the Fit Plus trainers stop saying the same thing over and over? Its especially noticeable when I'm doing the tricep extension. I find myself yelling at the tv and losing focus LOL

I just finished my workout for today and I have to admit I am use to doing it after work so it was a little bit of a challenge getting motivated to do it this morning. But once I got started I am glad I did. I work days and so I get up during the week at 4:30 am every morning. On the weekends if I sleep to 6:30 that is sleeping in to me. So I was debating on whether to get up or not, now that I am done I can shower and get on with the rest of the day. YAY! I also did the light cycle challenge and placed first, I have to admit that I seem to do the Biggest loser DVD more that Jillian's but I also try to alternate. Maybe I need to go up another level on Jillian's???
Have a great day all.

I don't know about the BMI portion, but I belive the wii age has to do with the balance. On the first test I got age 22 (and I'm 25). However, when I did the test after doing all my exercising with treadmill and wii my balance wasn't as good and the age I got was 41.

Hi! I'm new to SparkPeople and the team, but I am so glad I have found both! I just dusted off my wii fit for the first time in about a year. I'm having a fun time rediscovering the games. I am, however, shocked that my scores are much better than they were when I played daily when I got it, but I now weigh more than ever! I'm hoping to buy the EA Active soon to give myself a bit of a challenge.

I don't use any of those stats either and I always weigh myself on my own scale and don't use the one on the games. But I do have to admit that I feel better and have lost 6.2 lbs. So I feel great and may actually reach my goal this year.

I don't think you should pay much attention to the age thing. When I first did it I was SO IMPRESSED! It had me at 55 and I am 57. I decided to only do the body test once a month. Not much can change in a day. Seems like a waste of time to me.

My daughter did it the second day. I watched. She was not doing the test correctly and it put her at 44. She is 22. She is not that out of shape. She is just not co-ordinated enough to balance properly.

This is going to seem silly but I have to ask...

is there any way, to turn off the "OH!" on the Wii Fit or Wii Fit Plus when i first step on... on occasion i get a "Great!" but mostly I get an "Oh!"... feels like the thing is grunting at me, LOL...

I mean I just tell it to shut up but if i could turn it off... or get it to say "Hey Gorgeous"...

This is an interesting experience.

Today, I did some of the strength training, aerobics and yoga. Found out the foot board can be backwards and work, just the left and right foot gets mixed up. lol I did the first aerobic set having to do right foot when it said left. Very difficult. Did much better once I fixed the board.

The yoga portion is easier than I thought. I always thought I'd be horrible at yoga, the balance and flexibility. Turns out that even completely out of shape, I still have pretty good balance and such.

So far we just have the wii fit plus, but the first try was fun. The most amusing aspect was the wii age. I think all of us were laughing when each got their age. It was me, my younger sister and our mom. Fun times.

Monday, during the day after hopefully I've slept a little, I'm going to really start the exercising. Can't wait to begin for real.

I just got the Just Dance and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!! It has 32 songs that you dance to- I don't pay any attention to the scores it gives- I just use it for making me get up and move. It is full of 80s music like Girl's Just Want To Have Fun, Blondie etc, but it si a blast and always makes me want to move .... or JUST DANCE!!

Hello all, just wanted to stop by and see how everyone is doing? The holidays are over and I have started using my fitness games that I got for Christmas. On Friday I used the Jillian's 2010 and Saturday I did the Biggest loser one. Needless to say I was a tad sore so I wanted to get in some form of exercise so I thought I would take it easy and did some of the Wii Fit Plus games. I had so much fun with that and little did I realize I actually burned more calories than I thought. I feel really good and some of the soreness is starting to go away. I didn't realize how much is in that game but I will defiantly be going back to that game.
Have a great Sunday all.
My cardio for today is 30 minutes of fun!! LOL....

EA Active was a great purchase for me. My kids love it too!! Blockbuster had it the cheapest $40 while the other places had it for $60. I hate the running cuz I'm soooo out of shape but the other exercise are fun and it has a 30 day challenge part where it tracks your progress and while your playing it shows you the time and how many calories burned. Good luck to everyone!!!!!!!!!!

Hi I am Holly in KY. I got the wii fit in 08 for Christmas and we had a devastating ice storm in Feb 09 and I hadn't been on my wii since. I got it out last week.

I am going to give the south beach diet a try this year starting Monday. I plan to use my wii and treadmill and free weights.

I have struggled with weight my whole life.

In the last couple of years on spark I have managed to lose 30+lbs but have gained back about 20. ick!

So Happy New Year y'all!

Holly

Hey Char I'm Tiff. I can't help b/c I don't have either of those. Please let me know how you like them. I have Fit and I got Fit Plus for Christmas. I am so excited about that. I am enjoying the Fit Plus and I love the fact that it updated to the info I already had on the original Fit.

Hello, My name is Char and I am new to this group. I have a few question and am hoping someone can help me.
I received the Biggest loser and Jillian 2010 DVD's. How do I calculate how many calories that is burned?
Thanks,
Char

Have not posted in a long time so I just wanted to touch base and wish everyone a Happy New Year. Between Wii fit plus, outdoor challenge and exercises I do outside the Wii system I am doing pretty good.

WE got 6 new Wii games for Christmas. The kids have been trying out all of them, but I have not had much time for ME to do them yet. I did try the Outdoor Challenge (minecart) with my 3 year old and that was fun. I did try a bit of the Biggest loser one but did not have my workout clothes on, and was in front of everyone SO I did about 1/2 of it. I noticed on the back of the box you can choose 4 week, 8 week or 12 week. But I did not see that when I put it in. I may have to look a bit longer and see. I was expecting to do stuff like the EA Active before I could do a workout, but that did not come up either.

My new goal is to do something on the Wii games every night when Hubby is putting the kids to bed.
