I haven't had a lot of time for Sparking. We are in the middle of our Annual Festival here at our resort. I have to finish quickly so I can go watch our parade this morning. Yesterday I went to the show in the afternoon. But, I did get over 12,000 steps yesterday. The most I've had since I was sidelined with my spasmodic muscle and the flu. I also had a loss of 4 lbs this week. I gained 3 last week but at least I'm back on track now!

I am sorry to hear about your friend. The good news is, he is going to get better but in the mean time I know he is in pain.

You are doing great, keep up the great work!!

Our friends called last night and our plans today have been canceled. They took him to the hospital in pain in the hip area. They admitted him to the hospital with a bladder and kidney infection. He is having antibiotics intravenously and he will be staying for a couple days. Say a little prayer for him. It's scary to be in the hospital so far from home. Not exactly what you want when you're on vacation!

I'm hanging in there with the walking and eating this week. Feeling much stronger about myself. I know I can do this!

Last week was a real struggle for me. We have friends visiting and we have been showing them all the touristy stuff and a lot of eating out. I gained 3 lbs! This weekend I decided that enough was too much. I am back and the last two days I've ate within range and got my steps in. A much better week so far. Tomorrow we are going to the Horserace track - should be something new and different to experience.

All four of us lost our money at the casino yesterday. Thank God we set a limit!

The best part of the whole day was I made my step goal.

I agree with walking outside compared to the treadmill!

Sharon -- Good luck! I have never won playing the slot machines in the mornings. The little bit I do play has paid off in the evenings.

It is finally getting nice enough outside to complete some hiking. Soooooo much more enjoyable than the treadmill.

We are off and running early today. We are going to one of the local casinos for breakfast and a little slot play. We're hoping the machines pay out more when they aren't so busy! I'll let you know how that theory works! I do have a nice shirt on that says Lady Luck so perhaps that will help too.

I made my step goal six out of seven days so darn the one day I didn't make it!

Hello again! I spent a wonderful day yesterday with our best friends from MI. They are visiting for a few weeks (another reason I haven't been Sparking as much). We went to the Arizona Opry which is a dinner/theater and it is a must if you visit the Phoenix area in AZ! The bad news is because I sat all afternoon being entertained, I did not reach my step goals yesterday. Today is another day!

My DH and I are the couple on the right.

Sorry I have been MIA lately. I will try to do better. I have been sick and down with a Spasmodic Piriformis muscle. But every day I'm feeling more like normal. The last few days I've been able to get my 10,000 steps in. I'm not pushing too hard, just feeling good to get out and walk without pain.

I am starting to pick up the pace a little. Slow does it. Where I had hardly done any walking for a month I became somewhat weak. Now I am struggling to get in over 10,000 steps but I am not giving up.

Still managing to get my steps although much of that has been indoors because of the extreme cold and high winds. A couple of days of not great eating has resulted in a 2-3 pound gain but I'll work that off without too much trouble (I hope). Hope all are well.

Sorry I have been MIA. I was laying in bed, flat on my back. I have a muscle in my hip/stomach/butt area that has been spasmodic. I have been in so much pain! Now the spasms have let up but it's very tender and aches. On top of all this, I have a miserable cold and the coughing spells are so painful. It's like coughing after surgery.

The good news is I am up, dressed and doing better today. Unfortunately, my walking has been derailed. I will take it very easy building back up to a decent pace and hopefully I'll be back strong in a few days!

Good day team! I do hope that you all are doing awesome with your steps. I have been to busy nursing a headache since the first of the month and then I get over it and have to host my fiancÚ's parents so that they could see the apartment. By time they left I could not go walking. Today I am going to be doing groceries! At least I will be walking and doing another activity. It adds up.

Great luck today team!!

Good morning one and all. Glad to hear everyone is doing well. It's Tuesday so must mean another week of flyers is on the way to be delivered. This is looking to be a busier week for me and I expect that busyness to interfere with making my delivery deadlines. Met a youngish woman last evening in the laundry room of the apartment block where I live. Although we don't know each other (yet) she is one of the tenants on the floor where I've been doing most of my hall walking. She said she's been wanting to ask if I'd like to walk together some time. That's kind of neat. Also noticed another woman in the block has taken up hall walking. Yeah, let's get the world amoving!

For the others, I have had computer issues for the last few days. It has been very time consuming and I haven't reached my step goals for the last two days.

So glad you beat the weather Susan. Good call to cancel your appointment too.

Sharon, I am settling down pretty good. Just have to finish figuring out my clothes placement and get my pictures hung. As far as diet, don't limit myself in choice per say, but I do try to keep a moderation. Restriction in choice sometimes make me binge and that certainly is not good!

Mom and dad are recovering okay. People are blessing them a lot! They are going to end up with more then they had in the beginning!

Morning!
I was down .8 lbs at WI this morning. Not a lot but at this stage of my loss, I'll take it!

Mayie - I'm glad you called and canceled your appointment. You didn't leave them wondering about you and I'm sure it was much better to stay home and take a nap than going out in the extreme winds!

Amy - still getting acquainted with everyone. I know you just moved so are you feeling settled in yet? What diet are your following? I use a LCHF (low carb high fat) My doctor said he didn't care if I walked fast or slow as long as I walk 30 minutes a day. That is what it takes for heart health. And we all know you really have to walk a lot to help in the weight loss so I'm working hard to keep my heart healthy as I age.

Carol - keep eating freggies (fruits and veggies) and you should keep losing! How nice DH bought a Garmin. Now perhaps you can take walks together. Although my DH ways it's hard to walk with me! I walk out quickly and he just strolls or if he walks quickly, I can't keep up! It's a no win situation so we don't walk together very often.

Does anyone use Jordan's Skinny Syrups (0 calories 0 sugar)? I have discovered them and love them! This morning I made a protein shake for breakfast and used PB2 and the White Chocolate Skinny Syrup and it was sooooo good! I've tried the peach, raspberry, salted caramel and now the white chocolate. They are good just in your coffee or tea.

Got the flyers delivered on time and before I had to deal with the extreme winds. Decided to cancel an appointment I had downtown yesterday because I really did not want to be fighting the winds any more than I had to. I am a super-responsible individual and it was difficult for me to do this but I said, Why not cancel? It's really okay. No one says you have to be there. . . .
After making the phone call I felt really liberated. The world did not end. I did not disappoint anyone. And rather than doing something I did not want to do I managed to have a nap. Awoke later with enough energy to do my 'hall walking' and surpass my daily steps.
Thanks for the support and encouragement. It means a lot to me.

Hey Carol, if your dh is on SPARK, see if you can get him to be a team member. We would love to have him as a part! Wonderful work on losing those 5lbs. Keep up the great work!

Sharon, with the efforts you have been putting in, you should lose some more weight tomorrow. So glad your leg is starting to feel better.

Pat, I find that tracking the food does make a difference. I have slacked off some but I am going to have to get back at it.

Susan, I hate it that it is so cold for you. Stay as warm as possible for your deliveries. I feel for you.

Pat -- I have been doing completely the opposite. Stopped tracking everything except steps. Instead of worrying about calories, I have doubled my freggie intake and lost 5lbs this month. Something I didn't managed to do in the entire past year. Guess it is what my body needed!

Dh bought a Garmin last night. He is finally super excited to start moving more. Now to work on his eating. He seems like he is almost ready for that change too. emoticon It would be nice if we were both on the same page to getting healthy, instead of sabotaging each other.

I sure hope the pain in my legs is gone by the time we head home and back to my doctor. It is getting better every day.

I looked back at what I weighed when I arrived at Towerpoint back on Nov 1st. I am down 2 lbs from then. Slow downward trek but at least I feel better knowing I'm not up.

I've been tracking (here on SP) all my food since the week after Christmas. It has made a big difference. It is a bit time consuming but worth it.

Sharon, the leg pain is a real head scratcher. Maybe you should mention it to your doctor at some point.

To all who are dealing with cold weather, stay inside and warm!! It is very cold here too!

Our 'heatwave' here in Manitoba means -20C this evening, a far cry from the -30C and -40C we experienced last week. Still have to get out there and finish up my flyers for this week. Tomorrow's forecast includes 50-70Km winds. It's going to be UGLY.

I take multi-vitamins everyday. I notice that if I do over 30,000 steps my legs, hips and feet hurt. I am just going on and off for now for January. Hopefully I will get it back in gear February. I don't want to slack to long or I will end up being the way I use to be, LAZY!!!!

Don't worry Sharon. I won't turn to food. I am the opposite, when nervous, stressed, upset, hurt, whatever, I get so sick to my stomach that I can't eat. I really have lost a taste for a lot of things lately anyway. No, how I deal with things like this is either art or music or both as I did yesterday. I started a new painting and I listened to my Christian songs while at it. It calmed me down.

The weather here in Waco has been funky. Warm for a few days then down to the fifties a few days. All well, go with the flow. I do hate cold days though. I freeze easy!!

Sorry I did not change the goals in the mini-challenge. I have gotten so behind in a lot of things!! Just make your own goals for the day and this weekend I will try to set new goals. I will get myself back in gear! Don't worry, even if I fail to be active, I am still there for you all rooting you on!!

Carol - we pay big bucks to winter here in AZ. Our permanent home is in MI. But since my DH's heart attack and heart surgery, I would rather pay the money just so he doesn't have to shovel snow. I'm not sure how long we can continue until either our health or finances give out but for now we are enjoying our winters as Snowbirds.

Our kids live near Holland (we do too) so they are getting dumped on as well. I think another storm is expected this weekend.

Pat - I take Magnesium every day! I started last fall when you mentioned it. I'm beginning to wonder if the throbbing is coming from my veins instead of muscles aching. It's better since I haven't been pushing so hard. So for now I'm happy with 10,000+ increasing a bit each day.

The weather is weird this year! I am hoping our wet and cold weather is moving out. We made 70 yesterday and last night it stayed around 50 overnight. Today is going to be slightly warmer. Sorry for those of you dealing with cold and snow.

Sharon, glad that the tonic water is working. I take Magnesium for cramps. I haven't had any now for ages.

Amy, sorry about your childhood home.

We are having terrible weather....got 4-5" of snow and it is still coming down.

Good Morning!

LG - yes, my legs are giving me fits! I did buy some tonic water. I guess the quine in it is supposed to help the Restless Legs. Surprisingly, it has helped! I've been changing my shoes half way through the day and that is helping the pain in my legs. To be honest, I jumped from 10,000 up to 14-16,000 a day and I think I jumped too much, too soon. Now that I'm back to 10,000 and my legs are feeling better, I'm working on getting a few more steps every day. Yesterday I got over 11,000 so I'm slowly working my way up.

Amy - so sorry to hear that your childhood home was burned to the ground. Please don't get stressed out and turn to food.

Amy, glad you found a place to walk.

Sharon, I know that you've had leg pain. Hope that it is getting better.

I'm getting over 20K a day. I'm being challenged by a friend and she had 20K yesterday before 10a.m. emoticon Took me til 5p.m. to get there! But I did it.

I'm glad you are finding safe places to walk. I'm getting my 10,000 steps in each day so I'm happy about that.

Finally I got some steps in!! The neighborhood that my future in-laws live in has many streets that I can walk on. Lots of small hills too. Better then a park!!

Amy - it's nice that you are close to your Finance's family, especially if you get along with them. They will help you adjust. You've been through alot so don't be too hard on yourself. With your wedding as a motivator, you'll be back at your pace soon enough!

I moved to Waco, Texas. I am a foreigner to Texas. I originally was born in Ohio and lived in Kentucky from 1980 to 2014. My grandmother lives in Pleasanton, Texas which is about 3 to 4 hours from Waco. My fiancÚ's parents live here in Waco. We are about five minutes away from them.

I am having a hard time getting back my pace. I am practically starting over. I am going to keep at it though until I get my steps back! I have to beat myself from last year!!

I have been pushing my walking (perhaps to show off a little) as I used to be such a couch potato. All of a sudden my legs and feet are balking and the last few days I'm living day and night on Alieve. So yesterday I backed off and only got 10,000 steps in. For me, still a good goal so I have decided to stick with that for a few days until the pain goes away!

Today is beautiful outside reminding me why we winter in AZ. We are flirting with temps in the 70's and the deep blue skies are wonderful. Not a cloud to be seen! I do love it here most of the time!

Amy - where did you move to? Still trying to get acquainted. Do you have family and friends by you now or is it a starting over time for you.

Thanks, all. I've gotten over 20K each day this week. But today I have a meeting and sewing circle so will probably only get about 18K.

I am so proud of you Pat!! I am having to rethink my walking. I can't walk in place indoors because of floor space and there are not as many parks here that I know of yet. Just having to change my game plan. I certainly am not giving up though! I will come up with a new strategy!!
