Afternoon temps 18 - 28 province - wide. And a glorious sunset of streaks of color. What's not to like for the last day of summer, post-Dorian?
Hopefully you have power back, and were able to recover from losing food, from storm damage, from extra time devoted to clean up...

Hot, hot, hot, and hum - di - di - dee. That last spelled out expression was how I heard grandparents pronounce "hu mi di ty" when I was little. I think it was my misinterpretation more than anything else. Ah, the joys of the growing up years. And the joys of seeing our younger ones enjoy the seasonal weather, no matter what the rest of us think!

In anticipation of the rain on Friday, I chopped up a bit more of the ice ó none left where I park the car. Colder than one could imagine where the wind rises from the harbor. But just love the sunshine - thatís why I slopped on the sunscreen. Have to get used to wearing it again. But thatís OK.

I was at a function last night, and the person presenting didnít wear a coat. Then I got invited out for a ďstudy sessionĒ. And when I arrived, the same person had no coat. Oh, well - later day is the first day of Spring 2019. And at least we get the sunshine to go with it!

Couldnít believe that I raked leaves in preparation for compost / yard waste collection! It was hovering around zero degrees Celsius, so the bound leaves came up in clumps of organic matter that responded to the tug of my mini plastic rake. This implement is about 25% of the full size model, and is quite agile when used around still sleeping bulbs.
It is always a surprise to me when the Nova Scotia public school March Break has a week of Nova Scotia weather that is calm and tolerable, and people spend time, money, resources to escape from a time of stillness in the physical environment. This, in contrast, to the multiple meteorological events of January - March 2019, inclusive of the Maritime Special: snow to ice pellets to rain, followed my a deep freeze. Where I am, we are in a good place - some dry pavement, not too soggy paths, and enough patches of blue sky to knit together some blue jeans.

These swings in temperature are amazing! One morning, one layer is all that is needed. The next ..... hang on to your hat, cover up your legs and have water protection all over to avoid the inevitable "SPLOSH" from passing cars ... I'm just asking that, when the snow comes, I get some warning so I can adjust my gym routine to account for the extra work required.

Who let the heat out?
Big numbers in the Annapolis Valley, especially Kingston / Greenwood.
Stay cool, stay hydrated.

After Saturday's surprise (or not so surprise) precipitation, some may wonder what I wrote (or why?)! emoticon There were enough flakes, and then some, to go around.

If you liked the milder conditions, February 2016 was for you. Sorry to snow bunnies on the Atlantic Coast of our wonderful province of Nova Scotia -- probably not enough flakes to "make your day".

I am finding that February 2016 is a month of the most unusual weather contradictions. Does anyone else share that opinion? How do you view the progress of Winter 2016?
