hard-boiled eggs are good as snacks, in salads and sandwiches. have just done a batch of organic, free range.

i, too, am glad the challenge is back. i tracked my food today. yay me! i ate all real food. only plain yogurt and cottage cheese from a container. my nuts were roasted. i had a 490 calorie deficit. that's close enough to my goal of 500 for my first day. i sat from 7:30 till midnight. not so great.

Like Minnie, I have been a member for many years and am happy that the Challenge is running again.

I eat very little canned food, occasionally salt-free beans or soup. Fruit is either fresh or frozen and I make my own yogurt..

My weaknesses are:
I too often buy precooked meals from a .local company. The meals are cooked the same morning or the night before and the ingredients are good but the sauces they are cooked in, although delicious, are high in calories
I find it hard to resist temptation on social occasions.

I don't track food calories but can tell from my clothes which way my weight is going.

i'm an old member of this team and would like to return. i've gained weight over the lastt year and a half that my health does not permit. i exercise when i'm well.

i tend to eat this way. but i eat more than i burn.

i eat canned mushrooms, olives and hearts of palm after i rinse off the salt. my canned beans are salt free. my canned cherries and pineapple are sugar free.
my frozen fruit and veggies have nothing added. the rest are fresh.
my salads are fresh.
the rest i cook and eat simply. except when i'm at a social event.

writing out food plan is best for me, but i don't bother!

Breakfast started out good today. I had eggs with kale, basil and rosemary from my garden.

I still find it hard to find the farm fresh eggs but I prefer those.

Lunch was chicken.

Snacking I had a sweet attach kick in. So I went to the frozen yogurt stop with more sugar and processed food then I needed.

I did check labels when I was at the store today. I am considering this a victory day for me.

Encouraging Habit Change - Log what you ate.

This week I'm going to challenge the way you are eating. If the is part of your daily life already, I would like to challenge you to provide tips 3x during the week to help others.

What this forces us to do is stay on the outside rim of the grocery store, sticking with fresh foods that you cook yourself. It does NOT include: bread, pasta, rice, frozen entree's, packaged cheeses, yogurt, etc.

That said, any grain that is sprouted is ok, plain yogurt is ok (with honey if you choose), bacon is ok...but choose meats with no nitrates and no nitrites, minimally or not processed. Choose wild caught fish, not farmed and choose, organic if you can/are able to.

Eggs are ok, they are in your diet, farm fresh is best or get organic, free-range if you can! Raw nuts are ok. Not the roasted, and not the salted kind. Raw nut butters are ok, but not with sugar in them. Next is pre-packaged greens and fresh frozen veggies, such as spinach. It comes in a bag but that is ok....it's fresh. Lastly, any canned item is ok as long as it is organic, no sugar or salt or preservatives added.

So, who cares to try this?

"Just do the best you can, remembering that this is a MC only and if it does does nothing more than inspire you to look at labels then I'm happy, my job is done." From Lynn but worth repeating.

Post your success and challenges to meet the MC.

Good luck and happy shopping!
