What a great week. I don't know if it was a week for people to get there hair done or do things with there lives or if I was just more awear of others but this challenges was a lot easier then I thought it would be
I believe I made a few people feel pretty good about themselves along the way. What a great challenges.

I have not wrote in this week but I have been making an effort to compliment. I have been complimenting people all week and have tried to comment on a blog daily (missed a day). But although it's nice, I have to be honest, I haven't yet been presented with an opportunity for a meaningful compliment. The kind that may be a bit uncomfortable to give but really makes a difference to someone. I hope I'll have an opportunity over the weekend, before the challenge ends, so I have the courage to give it plus feel like I really met this challenge.

My girlfriend has been coming over 2-3xs a week to workout with me. She has lost 30 lbs and I told her yesterday how incredible she looks but more importantly how much 'fitter' she is when we work out & her 'recovery time' has decreased dramatically. She was thrilled I had noticed seeing she has been working at it so hard.

The time is here to make things happen!

1- LABRYANT, I too think you are awe inspiring. Terrified is an acceptable and realistic feeling. BUT just think of all the support you have, not only here but I'm sure in your personal life too. You will have more prayers and special thoughts coming your way than you know what to do with :)

2- My compliments have been going to my family these past 2 days. Sometimes I think the one's closest to us are the one's we forget to compliment the most. I realized how true this was for me, as my family has been questioning my motives when I give them a compliment. Hmmmm, not good. But, the smile on my son's face was heart warming when I told him what a good job I think he has been doing with our recent move and the start of 6th grade. Having to make all new friends and start middle school at the same time, ugh. But he is handling it great! My daughter still thinks I'm up to something emoticon

Well, thank you...I haven't had the surgery yet but it will be a double mastectomy on 10/5. The DCIS does not appear to be invasive but they will test my lymph nodes at surgery time. It it's not there, I will not have to endure chemo or radiation, so that is the hope.

Don't let me kid you...I'm terrified. I'm ok some days and a hot mess others. Today was not a great day and I've struggled to keep from crying most of the day.

I do so appreciate your support. It means a lot.

This may seem odd but my first "shout out" would definitely go to LABRYANT, our team leader. I'm new here, but if I understand correctly, you are recovering from very invasive surgery, yet, you are still on your game. When I saw your post last week about your upcoming surgery I was tempted to comment then on how impressed and inspired I was by you but felt slightly embarrassed/ not sure if it was the proper forum. But with this week's challenge I knew I had to. I really am impressed and inspired, I can let the smallest things derail me and here you are not only staying committed but encouraging others as well. We are now at that point in the month for a "Motivational/Self Esteem" Mini-Challenge. Don't lose focus on your exercise and healthy eating though! This is to focus on our "inner selves" and get things going in the right direction along with your bodies!

So, this is "Pass It Forward" Week.

A friend told me something really important a few years ago and I STILL repeat it to myself and others. It was:

"We wouldn't care so much about what other people thought of us if we realized how little they do."

You see, most people are worried about what THEY look like doing something to worry about what YOU look like. Since everyone is worried about themselves, that leaves no one left to look at you! What an empowering thought! If I could conduct myself as if no one was looking, what would that look like?

What I DO know is that I always feel good about ME when I am focused outside myself; when I'm 'sending it out there' and showing my concern and appreciation for others. Read: When it's NOT all about ME!

Funny how that works, right? Yet, encouraging others and trying always to be kind helps me stay less self-absorbed, less self-focused and broadens my world away from myself and the "me me me's".

So, this week, I'm going to ask you to step out of your world just a little in order to pass some of the good stuff forward. The last few times we've done this MC, it had some surprising results! Some team members even pledge to continue their efforts. Let's see how you feel about it!

The MC comes in two parts.
Part One: Give a Shout Out!
Go out onto the member Sparkpages and simply read the page or their blog and leave a comment. You may add your personal comment of encouragement, a shout out to a fellow team member, or 'dial up' a complete stranger! Make it interesting, make new friends, make it FUN!

You can either use the search feature in the SparkPages section to find someone with whom you might have something in common perhaps or simply read the latest blogs listed on the front page of the Mini-Challenge Team. Pass your courage, your strength, your 'tude on to others and see how it comes back to you ten-fold.

Part Two: Practice Random Acts of Compliments!
If you see someone who is maybe wearing something you think looks great on them or if you spot someone whose eyeglass frames look just terrific on them, shout them out a compliment. Don't be shy. It will be appreciated, I guarantee it!

A few weeks ago, one of the dance instructors at the place I go to social dance came up to me and said that several of the gentlemen told her they loved dancing with me and that I was a good follower. Wow! THAT made me feel wonderful. It boosted my self confidence!

Later that evening, I told one of the new guys how great he was doing and that he had good rhythm. I had Passed It Forward!

It feeds our self-esteem to receive but it also bolsters our own confidence when we give without expecting in return. It's MAGIC!

So, for each part of the MC, complete it for at least 5 days of the 6 the MC is in effect. That means you'll be doing Part One at least 5 times and Part Two at least 5 times.

I promise you, you WILL feel good if you do this. emoticon Who's ready?
