So, it was the first week back to school, and I have not had the chance to slow down and be meditative about food this week. On the other hand, I mostly haven't had time to eat lunch for the last three days either, so I'm neither munching nor gorging, I suppose that counts!

Isn't that terrific? I'm really honored that we will be featured! I hope more of the 10,000 members get involved after it comes out! :D

Ok, here is the news! Yesterday I received an email from Spark Coach Jen and this is what it said:

Hi LB

I'm writing a blog about member-lead challenges, and wanted to feature the weekly mini-challenge SparkTeam as one of those. I know you lead the challenge, so would you be willing to provide details about it so I can include it in the story?

I provided answers to all her questions and the article about our little Team here will be coming out in a couple weeks...as a FEATURE!

How about that?

emoticon

I'll be announcing it to the entire Team later today but wanted to let you know here first.

You did well, Lynn.

Went a bit too long without eating, then probably ate a little more than I should have.

It's hard to define which eater I am. I used to be a nibbler, but realized that wasn't working. But I can see bits of the gorger, binger & zombie in my eating. Definitely getting better, but at times I really struggle.

I can totally relate. I have a hard time with the "see-food" diet, too, Minnie! LOL Especially at a buffet. Ugh. I try to stay away from buffets.

So, this past weekend, my boyfriend and step-son wanted to go to an ice cream festival of all things!!! YIKES! 1) I can't eat dairy and 2) come on, it's ice cream!!! I'm happy to report I did not try a single bite. Yep! I WON!

They, on the other hand, ate so much they got sick! ha ha (sorry, not sorry)

PS: I have some really great news for this Team....stand by....when I get the go ahead to share it, I will! emoticon

I can go for hours without thinking about food if I'm out, unless there are "goodies" on offer and then I can find it a struggle to refuse them, or when I'm absorbed in something but later realise I'm hungry and eat too much. If I'm at home and doing things which don't really engage my mind, e.g. housework, I tend to nibble.

I'm somewhere in between a nibbler and a gorger depending on the day. The worst is that, as a scientist, I can justify eating as a way to change my neurotransmitters in the short term, but I know that the long term interactions are bad news, so I'm trying not to do that. I have a lot of chocolate at home right now (a friend just brought me a boat-load of impossible to get British chocolate) and I've been good about the amounts, but I definitely need to try the meditation!

i guess i'm a nibbler. i'm good at the store and at home. when i go to social occasions where there is food, i find it hard to resist (because i'm usually deprived?). i'm on the "see-food" diet.
so i gain, and it takes me til the next occasion to lose it. net, i'm maintaining with fluctuations instead of finishing the losing.

you're right, of course. lifestyle means forever mindful. no patience to think about chocolate for 10 min. just gobble it up. i do eat too quickly.

This week is week 4 in the rotation, so it's a self-esteem challenge and I've picked a new one. Since I lost 50 pounds and gained it all back over the span of 6.5 years, I'm doing some investigation into my relationship with food. What kind of eater am I? What happened to my healthy eating habits over that period of time? It has to be more than will power to maintain so that I'm not constantly feeling like I'm on a diet.

I felt, at one point, that I had made a lifestyle change but then what? Did I simply forget everything I had learned, did I get lazy, or did my brain twist things so that I thought I was eating properly but wasn't? I don't know...so in searching for some answers I ran across this article about the Headspace diet.

www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2

It's apparently a book. I haven't read it, but I do like the article and it makes sense.

This weeks' MC is to read the article, determine what kind of eater you are, read the solution and let's discuss. Going forward, in the coming weeks, we can put some of the solutions to the test.

Let's get ourselves in the right head space to change our minds about food!

The good news is that I've lost the weight again, am eating clean and working out...but it appears I need to be every mindful, not so much about being on a diet, but of the type of eating that is best for my body.

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Hugs ya'll,
L.
