Sleeping.

This was a tough one this week because of the time change in the US. I hate getting up in the dark. I did, however, get 8 hours in each night....very relaxing weekend too.....

:D

Great job, everyone!

This morning I woke up a half hour earlier than normal, without an alarm. As I lay there trying to fall back asleep, I started to think that maybe God heard me when I said I wanted to get up earlier than usual. So, I got up and did the treadmill until my normal wake up time. The first day is always the hardest.

I'm so dumb. I just realized waking up earlier is harder during this daylight savings....I was thinking it should be easier!

Hi Lynn,

Never quite sure. Does this mean actual time we think we sleep or hours in bed even if we're still awake?

I don't drink soda, so I'll be working on my ZZZZ's. I've been intending to get up earlier in the morning to get in some treadmill time, but it doesn't happen because I go to bed too late. I usually get 8 hours of sleep. If not, it's at least 7 hours. But I'd like to switch my body's biological clock to go to bed one hour earlier and wake up one hour earlier. This would have been the perfect week with daylight savings, but my body was not tricked. It wakes up at 7:20am every day with no alarm.

Here I go again....late posting.

This week, the schedule calls for an Intake Challenge and we've made it a Choice Challenge this time, so you'll choose which of these MC will do you the most good for you!

Choice 1: Intake some Zzzzzz's!

Are you the type of person that folks describe as "burning the candle at both ends". Me too! Hopefully, I won't run out of candles anytime soon! Anyway, I've always figured that I'll sleep when I die! There is just too much to do that's fun these days!

Yet, did you know that catching enough z's is actually important for losing weight? No? Well, check out this link and find out how two hormones that are essential to weight loss are decreased significantly when there is a lack of sleep:
ww.proactol.com/pro-articles/weight-
lo
ss-and-sleep_23.html

Read this article to find out about how best to get in a good nights sleep, why drinking a dairy product before bedtime is your best option, and how technology may play a role in keeping us up at night, rather than helping us wind down:
www.livestrong.com/article/74796-sle
ep
-important-weight-loss/

Also, in case you have trouble sleeping, here are some tips from SP:
www.sparkpeople.com/resource/nutriti
on
_articles.asp?id=876
(Don't forget to get your 3 Points for reading each article today!)

So, should you choose the Snoozing part of the MC for this week, beginning Monday night, you'll be charged with getting as many hours of sleep as you can for 4 of the 7 nights this MC is in effect.

Of course, discuss it here in this Forum.
1. How do you feel?
2. Do you think getting enough sleep helped stop you from snacking?
3. How about concentration? Did it help?
4. What are your personal tips for a better nights sleep?

or

Choice 2: Cut The Carbonation (CTC)!

For a lot of folks, soft drinks are a major part of their calorie/liquid intake and a hard thing to put aside.

Yet, did you know that carbonated beverages are not only a problem for a diet because of what they include (loads of sugar and high fructose corn syrup) but for what they EXCLUDE from a diet? If a person is busy drinking "liquid candy" all day, what are the chances they will make more healthy choices like water?

Check out this link: www.emedexpert.com/tips/soft-drinks.
ht
ml

Read how soft drinks can strip us of our needed calcium:
www.ehow.com/list_6465969_harmful-ef
fe
cts-drinking-soft-drinks.html

So, if you choose this section of the MC for this week, you'll cut out all carbonated beverages for 4 of the 7 days the MC is in effect. And, of course, post about it in this Forum.

1. What tips do you have for others who are cutting the carbonation?
2. What obstacles have you encountered?
3. Did you notice a significant change when you cut back or stop?
4. What replacements did you use?

Please pledge your choices by Wednesday at the latest, and let us know if you're going with ZZZZZ's or CTC! :)

Good luck ya'll, I know you can do it!
