engagement party. ate mostly well, with half a piece of chocolate cake. not sure if it had gfcs. that's what i get for going hungry. oh well. a little bit once a week isn't that terrible.

yesterday saw none.actually there may have been candy on the doc's counter, but it didn't even register.
today had only fruit by neighbor.cookies may have had hfcs.

I always look for HFCSs and avoid them. The most surprising place I often see it is in what I would consider otherwise healthy whole grain breads, and it is often high up in the ingredient list. I've also acknowledged that I'm a sugar addict and am on day 30 of managing not to compulsively eat sugar. I seem to have stopped thinking about it all the time; hope that continues.

Sugar is hard to give up. I don't eat HFCS, but I do fall prey to the occasional goodies or chocolate. I noticed this morning that my protein powder had 9 grams of sugar in it. I usually add half a banana, but I skipped that this morning as I figured I didn't need any more sweetness.

Funny, I was just telling a friend today I couldn't give up sugar. That said I do avoid HFCS and use stevia in place of artificial sweeteners. I will see what I can do here and at least be a bit more aware.

Hello all!

Bottom line: Sugar, well too much refined sugar, sucrose, fructose, etc. is not good for you! And it's in just about everything these days! It's important to check labels before buying and ingesting!local paper. Intake of too much sugar, and especially items with High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) can be detrimental to my body and my diet. More so than I even knew way back then.

We cannot stop the barrage of chocolate and other sweet delectables that flood the market every perceived holiday but we CAN take control and win the war for ourselves, our health and our bodies. This weeks MC is to keenly watch the amount of refined sugar, fructose, glucose & HFCS that we ingest into our bodies. It's in much, much more than just chocolate & other sweet stuff.

Now, and here's the tricky part, HFCS can be lurking in places that you might not realize they are. For instance there is loads of HCFS in canned sodas (we broke that cycle 2 weeks ago, yes?), in breakfast cereals, in ketchup and in snack bars & power bars. So, your MC is to read labels & choose wisely!

For 5 days out of the 7 this MC is in effect, make a substitution of a healthy snack when you find too much HFCS, refined sugar, glucose or fructose in a food that you might otherwise have eaten had you not been paying attention.

Report in this Forum exactly where you are finding the hidden sugar in your diet and what substitution you made so that it can help us all!!!

Also, did you know that refined sugar is THE number one offender in causing 'belly fat'? Ewwww....and we just finished all those crunches! Don't let all that work go to waste!
