I have retired from 18 years of being tied to a telephone looking at a computer 8 hours a day. I want to be able to run up the steps for exercise next winter when I don't feel like driving in the snow to the gym. For the last 10 years, I have walked upstairs one step at a time. Last September I fractured my pelvis for the 2nd time. I have had physical therapy since then and I am now able to walk upstairs one at a time without pulling myself up with the banister. Physical therapy is done and I have joined a gym.

To get control of my eating and get into a size 11. I went from a size 18 to a size 16 currently and am down 17 pounds so far since January 1st.

Set my timer every 2 hours 4x a day to add 250 or more steps at a time. Hopefully this will help me to get in more activity and eventually make 10,000 steps a day a new normal for me.

What am I hoping to accomplish in 2019? I am going to be at least 50 or more lbs thinner by the end of the year, below 170lbs. When I reach this goal it will be over 10 years since I've weighed this much. Along with the weight, I want to learn well, the healthy keto life style. I have tried diets before but because of hunger issues, just couldn't stick to them. I think my biggest road blocks are breads - anything wheat, sugar and chip snacks. I want to get to the point where I no longer crave or think about these past habits. Lastly, I want to get into the habit of moving everyday more. Got out of practice. Don't need to over do it, just want to make steady healthy physical goals. That's what I want for 2019.

We should all remember to also eat some pure rock salt, also - to keep up our electrolytes !
The pure rock salt does NOT raise your blood pressure. I like the Himalayan Pink rock salt.

Get back in shape! Between losing my mom to cancer in 2017, starting a new career and having two surgeries (appendix & gallbladder removals) in 2018, I haven't taken the best care of myself over the past two years. I'm kind of starting over fitness-wise. My husband and I are planning on starting a family later this year, so I want to get back in shape and re-learn healthy eating habits before getting pregnant.

I haven't come this far to only come this far.

Goals for the new year:
Better sleep - whatever it takes, I'll try anything (ultimate goal - 7 hours/night by the start of summer)
Better nutrition - eat fish 3x/week and legumes 5x/week (ultimate goal - lower cholesterol 50 pts or more by fall blood draw)
More exercise - cardio most days/week (ultimate goal - go from walking to running by the end of the summer), min. of 10 min strength training 2x/week, min. of 5 min. stretching after exercise

Paula and Mrs E -I can see where both of you are coming from with your goals. My kitchen has a lot of things I'd like to use. I'm definitely wanting to stay away from fast food and create more home cooked meals. Baby steps I agree are also the key with what you said. Be kind to yourselves both, you can do it. 2019 is the year for all of us.

My goals for 2019 is to lose the extra weight. I know it's not going to be easy but I won't let it overwhelm me. Just take baby steps this time. I usually try to make too many changes at once and I get discouraged and give up.

Those are great goals! One of the things I am determined to accomplish is to get my pantry, freezer and two fridges organized. Eat the food I've been storing before buying any more.

How did it go today for you?

What are your goals for the new year, health related, as well as other goals? Mine are to drink lots more water, track my food and eating in moderation, and trying new exercise routines. Hopefully I can build myself up with some strength training. How about you? emoticon
