Morning! I'm feeling a little sluggish this morning. I didn't sleep well, Collin sniffed and sneezed his way through the night, which kept me on alert in case he needed me for anything. As of right now I don't think he's going to make it to school tomorrow.

I did enjoy staying home and resting yesterday and it looks like much of the same will be happening today.

I better go see to breakfast. Have a wonderful Sunday!

Morning!

I hope each and every one of you enjoys your weekend without letting it become a weak-end.

It is raining here, but it is supposed to clear up enough by 10am that my walk with the Snohomish County team should be enjoyable.

I hate it when my resolve slips, but I am thankful that each day offers a fresh start!

We can do this! We really, REALLY can! Together we CAN do anything!

Happy Friday! I am resolved that the girl and I will go to the SET class at the gym at 4:30pm today. . I am also looking for a hole in my schedule to get in some extra time on my elliptical at home and maybe more jump roping. I used to be a champ for my elementary school! And in Junior High I was the kid who could do all that double dutch and stuff. . It was only when my boobs got too big that I stopped. . But now I have very supportive gear so they don't hurt anymore!

Survivor is DVR's too. . We do all the reality shows that way so that you can fast forward through the commercials, the recaps, etc. We still need to finish America's Got Talent too. . my poor daughter made it almost through all of school yesterday and then in 5th period someone blew it for her. . But she is being good and keeping her mouth shut!

Go Team Golden Phoenix!

Happy Friday All. Just as an aside: I was just thinking who greatly uplifting it is to find so many people here who are so filled with positivity. Man, what the world needs now, huh?

Hello Teammates:

I watched Biggest Loser Tuesday night and had to keep reaching for the kleenex! I ran/walked on the treadmill for 80 minutes while watching the show.

This morning I set my alarm for 4 am. I did 3 mile WATP's and some strength training before work.

Tonight begins the new season of Survivor. That is another one of my favorite shows!

Hope you all are having a healthy week.

I watch Biggest Loser but do so through DVR (so we can forward through all the commercials!) And we have not had time yet to watch it. . Maybe we will get it in tonight! So don't tell me what goes on!

I am very proud of myself! I realize right now I am on a 3 day spark streak for exercise! I've been doing both the gym and my home elliptical and good stretches. . I've got a kink in my lower back and I figure the more weight I get off, the better chances I have of it going away! I am tripling my efforts at exercise to get myself back into those 160's. . and then back into those 150's and then no more yo-yo's! Just down. WE CAN DO THIS!!!

Go Team Golden Phoenix!

Yep, it is one of my favorite shows. These people motivate me to move more. It is sad to see someone who is deserving kicked off the first week. I wish I had access to the physical check ups like they had on the show. I wonder if the young woman in the hospital will be able to return to the competition.

Here's to a successful day to all of us.

But for now I a out of here. Going to my dads to teach him how to home can tuna... YUM!

Good morning. It's a beautiful day here in the valley. I miss my walking, but have felt fatigued since yesterday afternoon and was running a slight fever last night and this morning. Fortunatley, I work out of my home so I can take breaks.

One of my other teams has a walk challenge going on this month of 30 miles. I got up to 29 so far. But no walking yesterday, maybe not today.

Just returned from a long weekend with some old high school girlfriends. It was wonderful to reconnect (and they ALL asked me what I'm doing to lose weight). I directed them here, so hopefully I'm spreading the spark!

Sheila - what wonderful heartfelt stories. . My friend was $500 short of her goal and wasn't allowed to walk but she did it 2 or three years ago (when it was last in Seattle) and her Aunt made the required contributions so she got to walk. . What a wonderful thing you did!!

Cyndy - thanks for poppin in when you can! I am all set for Biggest Loser too! I am happy they are letting Daniel back on with a different partner! I wish that kid to much gratifying hard work!!

I am going to fit in at least two 10 min sessions on my elliptical today and then I have a walk with my mom this afternoon (she walks really slow but I have to go to get her out there) and then we go shopping for a wedding outfit for her. My cousin in getting married in a couple of weekends (however I will be out camping with my Girl Scout troop in Canada so cannot attend!)

Hello everyone and Happy Monday!

Shelia - you are awesome! Hope the blisters heel soon. I know they are painful.

I am still working out some computer issues. It seems to have a mind of its own and works when it wants to!

I found out a few days ago that I am going to be a Grandma! I am excited because my daughter which is stationed in Bahrain will be transferred back to the USA before she reaches the end of her third month. She is trying to get orders to Whidbey Island. That would be a wonderful Christmas present to have her and hubby here.

New season of Biggest Loser starts this week. I love the show and cannot wait to see what drama this season will bring!

Diet Tribe will begin again in October. The Yummy Jessie will be back this season. WooHoo! If you did not watch the show last season, you need to check it out! It is on the Lifetime network.

Well, I had a rotten day at work and I am already looking forward to the weekend! It can only get better - at least I hope so.

Hugs to All!

I am home from the Seattle Breast Cancer 3-Day! Did you know they are changing the name? It will now be known as the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure!

Here is a quick run down...

Day 1 - Attended opening ceremonies and then walked 11 miles. My sister picked me up and took me to our dad's aunt's funeral. Afterwards we also attended the lunch to celebrate her life. Then my sister took me back to camp. I missed out on walking the other 11 miles of the day.

Day 2 - 22 miles walked. My hubby and Brutus met me for lunch. Skye was at a friend's for the day. Met many new people and heard many a story. Developed two minor blisters and one larger one.

Day 3 - Got up bright and early, packed, broke down our tent and got on the bus to our start point. Managed to walk all 16 miles for the final day, but had a couple of moments of doubt. Re-popped my blisters at lunch and the larger one was looking nasty. Just clear liquid... No pus or blood. My family came to closing ceremonies. Lost my Omron Pedometer at Key Arena... UGH!(My SparkFriend Ida is mailing me hers she doesn't like... Thank You!)

The 3-Day is a VERY emotional experience! I shed tears all weekend long. Will I do it again? Last night my answer would of been "Absolutely not!" Today my answer is "Anything IS possible!"

I am moving forward! I am making my fresh start with SP! Today I am going to get in some lower body strength training and then I will do some sort of easy cardio... Short walk or yoga. I need to burn calories and stay focused, but my body also needs to recuperate!

I am staying strong & SPARK'in on! Are you?

Hey All - had a busy weekend. . Babysat our friend's 5 year old daughter all weekend as her parents just had another baby - premie - and needed time for the hospital. Boy she was a challenge but my daughter was very good and kept her entertained and overall she had fun. . And I learned to really really appreciate my parenting skills! Seeing all the stuff this little girl is still dealing with because her parents haven't taught her yet. . I am really proud of my daughter and myself!

Saturday was our really fun day - spent the entire day on Lake Washington in our Trophy. . it was crazy cause the UW game was going on. . Never seen anything like it!

If you go to sparkpoints, it's under the "My Tools" heading and click on sparkpoints, you see what looks like a wheel. So you click it, and get whatever points it stops on. Each day you log on and click the wheel, you get points.

Hi JATAVI, welcome to the conversation! You are exactly in the right place! You'll be a pro at SP in no time...just keep using it every day!

I ended up buying a new washing machine yesterday. Since the delivery was full until the 20th, my parents are coming to help my pick it up and install it today.

DH is home, but he hurt his back....doing what you want to know? Sitting at the computer of all things! He turned his head the wrong way, and pinched something somewhere, so he has pain down his neck to his back.

I was just on my way to spin the spark wheel but wanted to pop in before my day got too busy.

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone...looks like we have another "bonus" day of summer! WooHoo!

Oh, I almost forgot. One of our chickens laid her first eggs yesterday! Two little brown eggs. We took a picture...if I have time later I'll post it on a blog. Collin was so excited!

Ok, off to spin the wheel then make breakfast for the family!

I feel for you Wendy! I had my sewing room all organized and ready for me and the son came to tell me they cut his hours at work and raised his rent = moving home. So much for my sewing room, again. Same thing happened to his sister, twice, just as I was finishing up. Oh well, at least I get to see him a little more often.

Am just heading out for a walk. I'm still learning where everything is and what all is on the site, so if I'm posting the wrong topic in the wrong place, please let me know and direct me.

Thanks all for being here - J

Looks like I'm the one who needs to catch up now, Cyndi.

I woke up this morning thinking about Shelia walking the 3- day this weekend! What perfect weather they have!

Nothing too exciting going on with me.

Hope you're all out there taking advantage this fabulous weather! Nothing like getting an extended summer after the winter we had! ENJOY!

You know I was going to be a teacher when I grew up - and did my student teaching and everything. . It was only when I discovered I was so good at sales and could make more money at it that I left that dream to simmer for a while. . But I am starting to feel that the Kent teachers are getting dillusional in their demands. I sat down last night and actually read a good chunk of what they are asking and what the district is proposing to meet their request. The Kent District has been very good with their communication during this - posting both sides of everything on the internet for parents to access. Now it is getting to the stage where the teacher's are really hurting the kids. They are 9 days past their start day - no resolution in sight. And I really feel for those seniors. . What does this do to their graduation time lines? And I feel like the first few weeks of school is going to have a whole bunch of students feeling resentful against their teachers. And once it is all over, many will explain to their students how it was not their idea to strike, they voted against it. . etc to make peace. All together this is going to be an awkward year in Kent.

Thanks for listening fellow Washingtonians!

Wow! I have got a lot of catching up to do. My computer has been intermittent or not working at all for almost a week. I have tried to log on at work but my computer at work is screened. It will let me log onto Facebook but not Sparkpeople! Not sure why?
I think my computer is fixed!!! I will keep my fingers crossed. I have really missed SP. I felt like I was going through withdrawal. LOL!

I hope you all had a good Labor Day and hope you all are doing well staying on the right track with healthy eating, exercise, and drinking that water!

Welcome to all of the New Members. Glad to have you as part of this Wonderful team! I hope you enjoy SP as much as I do.

First day back to school for Oak Harbor. My son is a senior and he was pretty excited! He got up extra early. All of the seniors were meeting at City Beach for "Senior Sunrise". They all went and watched the sunrise and then went for breakfast before school.

Shelia- I will be thinking about you for the next few days while you get out and walk for a wonderful cause. I applaud you!

Keep on Sparking. Hugs to all!

Scarousel - when is the 3-Day? My friend is in it and I need to get the donation money mailed to her still from my Aunt (who always does checks) and myself. . Eek - I have been so busy that I have been slacking on getting that over to her! Last I knew she was still over $800 shy of her goal! She is have a tough time getting that $2300 together with this economy. . and she is finding a lot of peoples companies have stopped doing the matching donations too. .

Yeah - I hope the strike is resolved soon. The District is taking the Association back to court today. I am so sick of having my kid home. . . And I bet they are going to have a LOT of homework to make up when they first start to get caught up since you know they aren't going to move deadlines for grades, semester times, etc.

I'm planning a long weekend with some high school friends (the 4 of us are going to a resort. I've not seen them for about 5 years, but we have been friends for 30!)

Can't wait. Hopefully they will notice my weight loss (even if I still have 25-30 to go).

Howdy!

Glad to hear Collin's first day went well. Sorry to hear that Kent schools are still on strike. Hope it gets resolved soon. I know one of these years it will be my turn... SIGH!

Just touching base. Need to double check my gear for the 3-Day and make sure I am really packed. Lots to do today to square away my household for my abscence... TTFN!

Sorry to hear that the Kent kids aren't back to school yet. I would be frustrated too. I hope they get things resolved soon.

We had a good 1st day of school here! I ended up doing some volunteer work for 2 hours. Collin was excited that they went right to work learning cursive writing! That was his highlight of the day.

I'm looking forward to a great year...we are going to be busier than ever!

I am so jealous Scarousel that your daughter got to go to school!!!! Here in good 'ol Kent the teachers are defying the court orders to return to work and school is still canceled pending the contracts and the teachers association. If something doesn't happen soon, those kids are going to have to make up a lot of time in the summer!

Going to yoga tonight and keeping a positive face.

Go Team Golden Phoenix!

I had a wonderful labor day weekend, and then it crashed to the floor.

I went to Spokane to watch "Fiddler on the Roof" with Topol's farewell performance tour. He was WONDERFUL in the play (and I love the play, too).

But last week my sister's husband (my baby sister) had a heart attack and died unexpectedly. His memorial service was yesterday (Tuesday). It will be a tough adjustment for her with 2 young children left at home. At these times there just isn't much to do but be there.

Morning!

Glad to be back and feelin' the Spark! Hate that I am going to be MIA from this place again on Fri, Sat & Sun. Know it is a for a great cause, but need to stay on top of things for me too!

Skye is at school and I feel like I can FINALLY come up with a fitness routine for me that is going to work. Next June I will have to look into some sort of plan that WILL work for summer... UGH!

Howdy!

I'm back from a wet, rainy yet fun weekend of camping! Came home to some sad news... My dad's aunt Helen passed away this weekend. She was 86 and lived a very full life, but she will be sorely missed. I'm trying to get Skye ready to start school tomorrow. She's in second grade, but will be in the 2/3 split class. Also trying to get packed for the Breast Cancer 3-Day which starts Friday and figure out how to attend a funeral at 1pm the same day... SIGH!

I hope to be on tomorrow and Thurs then back again next Mon... TTFN!

I'll have to read and catch up on everyone else's post then...

Well we wound up not going camping or boating or anything all weekend because of the stupid inclement weather and small craft advisory listings for the Puget Sound. . GRRR. . and now it is beautiful and sunny again. . We did home improvement instead and feel good about being productive but would have preferred the fun instead.

And the teachers decided to defy the court order and not return to work tomorrow. . They are going to all pay a daily fine of $270 that they do not work. . . But I guess they have decided to stick to their guns since they have gone this far. . I just want my daughter to go to school! I am sick of her always wanting sleepovers (always at my house since I work from home). . GRRRRRR. . .

Go Team Golden Phoenix!

Hi all;

I have been a very busy girl of late. Had our 15th wedding anniversary party over the weekend. WE had it on Sunday and we had nothing but rain and more rain. But we didn't let it bother us, we put up tarps, and covered the deck, and moved the picnic table under the tarps and lots of chairs, and set around a firepit/ BBQ pit and had a good time. We had 30 guests to help us celebrate this year. What a wonderful fun filled soggy day we had. But in the end there is nothing better than good food and good friends as well. read my blog on the anniversary and you will see what fun we had in spite of the weather

Hi Spark Friends,

I hope you are all well. Did anyone get hit by the tornado in Buckley or Enumclaw?

I received a free exercise DVD at the Women's show and finally decided to check it out this a.m. It seemed pretty good for a change in routine. It is called T-Tapp, by Theresa Tapp. It consists of isometric exercises the use all muscle groups and gets your heart rate up too. Just like cardio. Has anyone else ever heard of this or tried it? I would really appreciate it if you would stop by my Spark Page and let me know what you thought of it.

Thanks

Maggie

Howdy, Yes, the weather has been crazy today. Summer, Fall, Summer, Fall... Typical for September. Supposed to get nice in the next few days. I'm planning to do some serious walking when this happens. Don't want to be confined to the gym before I have to be... Hope everybody enjoyed their holiday. Mine was very busy @ work, but hopefully it will pay off and I'll get some time off later in the week. G'Day... Jet.

Good Morning to You! It may be emoticon this morning, but after sleeping all night last night, it is emoticon for me. Sure makes for a better start to my day.

I ran across this quote recently:
May you be well. May you be happy. May you be free from suffering.
I will add, May you have a successful day.
