My daughter pulled out her waffle maker so I am going to give the chaffles a test run this weekend. Woohoo!!!

On the MCT Oil- the store has powered but the THM website has actually oil and I definitely see the difference and feel it especially when mixed with my protein shake as well

I am delighting in the chaffles - they are so easy, so simple, so exact in same recipe every time and have it in my Sparks nutrition tracker as "grouping" so is easy to include in my record keeping and the best thing is it replaces three favorite food groups of mine - waffles, pancakes and sandwich breads!!! No more buying the expensive gluten free things full of addatives and still spike my blood sugars!
Husband has accepted a lot of my gluten free or sugar free meals but yes, he has his "poison cupboards with wheat pancake flour, crackers and cookies, he has sugar in his ice cream, jams and jellies, ketchup other sugar deserts, and the white potatoes/ French fries and chips that I choose to not eat. We learn new ways to deal with and accept these things each week.

MCT - I have occasionally in hot tea - probably once a week - I cannot tell if benefits me but have not put it to a true test. I due use coconut oil in cooking and Just have not gotten on that train yet.

emoticon I was telling my daughter about the chaffles. Will definitely have to try them.

emoticon Sometimes we do not think about the challenges of other people, Linda so your husband still eats regular food though you have to be on a special diet with the celiac? That's got to be challenging? I have enough challenges in my house with no required diet.

emoticon Anyone else do the MCT in your coffee? I've finally gotten use to it. I have powdered MCT oil that I had bought and forgotten about, then oil I received directly from THM website. I'm finding their cookbook uses way too many of the specialty items and hard to keep track of right now. I love the menu builder on their website but it only works well if you manually type leftovers for those meals you already have and then if you use recipes off their site. Hard to get the family in on some of them, even though for example egg white meals taste great to me, hubby grimaces.

All S day for me - trying to get my blood sugar lower - finally resisted ice cream!!! If I could win that battle some of the others will fall inline too.

Kind of feeling challenged to think f this the same way I did the training for the 5k I walked back in 2016 after the back surgery - had to train every day for 6 months but did succeed so trying to reset my thinking that way for the next 6 WEEKS - today was success in today's goals - now to plan out the whole time period and sticking to it!!! Will share as I go.

Mine makes two squares like half of the old fashioned kind and this chaffle recipe makes a large oval [not enough to fill the corners] I got this about 5 years ago and it lives in my gluten free area and hubby still has the old big one n his "poison wheat corner" celiacmeans I have duplicate of several things!!!

The minis are great. For some reason I don't get the sticking problems with the mini waffle iron that I do with my regular one. And it's like making your own egos, only healthy.

Oh that sounds really good!!!! So do you use a regular waffle maker? I saw something about a mini-waffle maker. I bet my grand kids would eat those, or two of them

Smiling at my Chaffles - they are so fun and delicious - basically you mix 1 egg and 1 ounce shredded cheese and cook it in waffle iron 4 minutes. You can sweeten it or spice it and eat as a waffle or as breading for sandwich or wrap - yes just google chaffle in Keto recipe sites in particular.

Karina that is awesome on the job!!! Well then you've had a great week of seeing your grandson happy as a fireman and a new job to boot. Thanks for the prayers for my daughter and I. My youngest son and I are much like your son and you. My older one, he's in between the two and tends to isolate himself.

Linda - Chaffle? Is that something from THM? Gonna have to look that up.

Linda, that sounds like so much fun. Truth be told, I would have done the same as you with the dessert. We have to live life, along with changing many of our habits. Celebrations are a big part of living and being happy, so good for you!

We went to my daughter's yesterday to celebrate our grandson's 3rd birthday. We had a great time, and seriously, I must brag that my grandson is one of the cutest kids I have ever seen. He's so adorable! We got him a fireman suit at Costco from their costume section, which is really rather realistic! And a driveable fire truck. Oh my word he was cute. He couldn't quite get the idea of releasing the accelerator after he crashed into something, and reverse/forward are concepts to be learned, but gosh he was so cute. We drove down their rode, he would stop, jump out of his truck, say I have to save them!!! And take the plastic fireman ax and fire extinguisher and pretend to put out a fire. He would climb back into his truck, wave to the pretend fire victims and with a blare of his siren and a honk of the horn, drive down the road. My heart! So cute!

I got the job!!! I got the job!!! I got the job!!! I don't know if you can tell, but I'm pretty excited. I am not excited about putting in my resignation to my current boss tomorrow, but obviously it must be done.

We had fun attending an Apple cider pressing party today - this is an annual event for one family in our church ...so fun, out in the fresh air, fires going for grilling hotdogs and sausages potluck salads and desserts and cider to drink - I took a water bottle and drank 1/3 and then added cider to the 2/3 to dilute it down and still gave me the delicious flavor - had grilled polish sausage and no bun and a small salad and was fine till they offered me berry pie and ice cream and then I rebelled and wanted to be "normal" and had a piece!!! Suffering from the high sugar and gluten but I am satisfied with the treat for weeks to come!!!

Hey ladies.

Brenda, I am so sorry for the strife between you and your daughter. When my daughter and I have words, which isn't often, but we are both very strong personalities, so it does happen occasionally, it rips my heart out. My son and I typically don't have words. We can be blunt with each other and be OK with it. If he crosses the line I just remind him who he is speaking with - so mind his tongue. He apologizes and we move on. Either way, we all work it out quickly because it hurts too badly to have distance between us. I will add you and your daughter to my prayers. And for your mind and heart to be at peace with what you are dealing with.

I had a 2nd interview yesterday with a job that I really want. I'm almost afraid to want it so much. I just know I am suffocating where I work.

Tomorrow will be a busy day. It's my last shot at making a decent low carb cake for my grandson's birthday party on Saturday. I'm really hoping that this recipe works better than the last one. I'm going back to my keto recipes and getting one from there. At least most of the time those aren't too terrible.

Hugs for your day Brenda - Lord I just pause to pray for the emotions of our days - for Karina and Brenda and for me. We ask for your Peace like a river, Joy full of your glory and Strength to do YOUR will in our lives.

Starting my day with Peppermint tea and collagen, two scrambled eggs and computer time since I fell asleep early last night. This will be a busy day of clearing house and prepping for daughter's visit next two nights for her work in our county.

Will have meats cooked and sliced, got salads, frozen and canned veggies, fresh fruits and lots of ingredients - when you combine diabetes, THM and Gluten-Free severe celiac the menus are simple and individual but I am learning to just go with the flow and KEEP IT SIMPLE.

Hubby is taking load of winter squash and tomatoes to the local food bank this morning. The last produce from our gardens for this year except a trunk of winter squash for church parking-lot sharing Sunday.

Linda I will keep your son in my prayers as well. My daughter lives me us and for whatever reason - probably because I am a strong D and just now learning to recognize personality differences - we too are somewhat estranged. It breaks my heart almost daily. My grandkids adore me so that gets me through the difficult days where I feel excluded.

Karina-Sorry your cake was bad and thanks for your honesty. Some of the recipes are bland for sure.

Well I'm in a lull, not sure why. My emotions are all over the place and just letting things get to me that normally I try to let roll off of my back. It's hard to feel like you have to be intentional 24/7 with people or else the relationship would easily blow away in the wind. Finally finished some major deadlines Tuesday, yesterday I felt like a zombie though started the process of evaluations & organization to start getting things in place for a successful 2020. Off I go - hope everyone has a great day.

I will continue to pray for healing for this situation.

As for the shrinker, the 1st time I tried it, I hated it. I used cashew milk the 2nd time and really enjoyed it. I have never purchased THM sweeteners, but I do get my erythritol off Amazon. I really enjoy the Hoosier Farms brand. I have 5 pounds a month that comes on auto-ship. You can make confectioner's erythritol out of it just by whirring it in the blender for a bit. Let the dust settle before you open the blender or the powder could choke you up.

Karina, thank you for your love and prayers for our family. it is a daily sadness and frustration - yesterday was his Bday and today is their 14th anniversary. They seem to have a good marriage as observed by mutual friends and I am thankful for that. I sent really nice card and small gift on Bday and just a simple message for recognizing their anniversary. Just wanting to keep communication open from my end - even though there is none from them. I must keep peace in my heart as much as possible that I have done all I know to do and "Wait" for return of prodigal. I will not let seeds of bitterness grow, but admit that the hopelessness often gets close to the top of the struggle.

THM news - I tried my first shrinker today and was not thrilled but did use the whole quart through the day. Will try it again tomorrow with different milk and sweetener - I think it is time to invest in some THM sweeteners and a few other special items - I am not succeeding with just replacing with store brand things. We are so rural that there is not much chance of some needed items. Time to spoil myself a bit!

Oh Linda, my heart breaks for you because of the distance between you and your son. I will pray for you right now!

Dear Heavenly Father, we come to you today, gathered in spirit, if not in person, to lift up Linda and her family to You. We ask for healing of their hearts, minds and spirits. We ask Holy Father for the spirit of love and forgiveness to fill hearts and overflow. We ask that they find their way back to each other so that they can be united in love, as you intended for families to be. Thank You for defeating the enemy who attacks families and tries to destroy them, and in advance for the reuniting of Linda and her son. In Jesus Precious name we pray, Amen

My heart and prayers will continue to be with you Linda.

No, unfortunately she does keto. I am concerned that she will start having thyroid or hormonal issues. My son was on keto for 2 years, hardcore, and now at 31 his thyroid numbers are low and his cholesterol is really high. The Sheriff's Office he works for had their doctor tell him to get it under control. However, even on keto, she can eat S meals and desserts, since they are low carb.

The cake I made was AWFUL! Absolutely AWFUL! So many people said it was good! It was the Special Occasion Cake from the original plan book and it was as bland as cardboard. I followed the recipe to the letter. As a recipe tester for a keto cookbook author I've tasted my share of fails, but this certainly takes the cake. (pun intended.)

Home midday from weekend away with daughter and son-by-love - good foods in their household but lots of treats and poor portion control with new and delicious foods. Poor sleep the first night but good last night and then the three hour drive back home. i'm worn out but a very happy contented mother.

I became a mother 40 years ago today with son's fortieth birth-day - we are estranged so is mostly painful missing but also thankful for the good years we had till he married and turned away from us.

pic of me second from right and daughter is the preggo one next to me.

It sounds lovely! We don't typically get much snow on this side of the mountains - sadly - but my son had some in Spokane yesterday. I was a little envious, I'll admit it. I love everything about winter, even if it means rain.

Today is my Friday, for which I am grateful. I need to practice on a THM cake to take to my grandson's 3rd birthday next Saturday. My daughter eats keto, and though she gives carbs to the baby, she doesn't want those carbs to be unnecessary sugar. A good S cake will cover it for both of us. I know that she'll be serving S finger foods, so we'll be on the same page.

Karina that is awesome progress with your FIL. emoticon

Linda so glad you are getting control of your numbers. emoticon

Well hubby goes back out Thursday am at 6, I'm struggling with wanting to go to be with him but wanting to be on track. It is such a challenge to do what needs to be done when we are not at home. Plus my daughter is due over the weekend. I'm eating too much without counting calories. Going to have to get more intentional or go back to tracking all my foods again.

That is awesome! I'm glad that it went well for you, overall, and even if it wasn't perfect, it was better. And since NOTHING is perfect, this worked out nicely!

We are currently at my in-laws house in southern Oregon. There is absolutely no point to telling my FIL how we eat, since he never listens to anyone anyway. I figured I would do what I could with what he made, since he does all the cooking since my MIL's back surgery a few years ago (it didn't go well). It was a THM nightmare. He made fried chicken using Crisco (yuck), and regular white flour. At least the chicken was skinless/boneless and I could sort of be discreet about scraping off a bunch of the breading. He also made chicken gravy using the fat of the chicken drippings - crisco mixed with chicken - and fake butter. Yum, right? And canned green beans, which I hate, but at least they weren't smothered in fake butter. Oh, and mashed potatoes. Seriously?! The trifecta of bad food for both weight and my arthritis. I just prayed that I wouldn't wake up a swollen mess unable to use my hands or knees. Overall, I was stiff this morning, but not too bad. We went out to lunch today, so I was able to pick what I could eat from the menu. Tonight's dinner is what really shocks me.

During dinner last night he asked if I wanted more potatoes, noting I hadn't eaten much. I explained that potatoes make my arthritis flare up - that all nightshades do. He asked what I ate instead. I explained that we eat a lot of cauliflower in place of potatoes or, depending on what meat we have, I sometimes have a sweet potato. My husband and I took a drive so he could show me some of the area where he was raised and stop at a couple of stores, when we got back my FIL had gone grocery shopping. He got an enormous New York Strip roast to put onto the rotisserie outside, and sweet potatoes, cauliflower and salad stuff. I wouldn't usually do the sweet potatoes with the beef, but dang, he listened for the first time since I met him and spent quite a bit of money trying to treat us to an amazing meal. I'm going to eat it with enthusiasm because I honestly didn't think he liked me much, and this effort on his part shows me he cares.

We have to get through tonight's meal, and will leave here early, grabbing breakfast on our way home. It's a 7 hour drive with potty and food stops, and we just want to get home to our own bed.

We are heading back today. I "feel" like I've made good solid choices and I brought several THM meals with me that had been frozen - muffets and sausage balls and I brought my stevia for my coffee and the MCT oil. I have drank more soda and tea than I have been but truly minimal overall. Will see how the scale rewards me when I get home, but either way, best I've done on a trip with him. Fueling every 4 hours has kept me from snacking mindlessly which gets to the norm when I take time away.

Brenda - enjoy your time away - let us know how you do if the accountability helps you. Keep your water or tea going consistantly all day and all evening then you will be going potty lots too. But it does keep the hunger pangs lower.

My daughter and her 4 kids live with us and right now my youngest son is temporarily with us while he is working to get into a place. We all have specific days to cook, I only have 2 days with the hubby. Daughter eats lots of carbs. My problem is I've avoided the fats like a plague and I tend to eat low fat or carbs, carbs, carbs. I;m trying to fix it and have an alternative but that's easier said than done.

Going out of town with hubby so now the real fun begins... hard for me to figure out foods while out except doing low fat. I've got that one down and it's what I am most comfortable with but doesn't help with my fueling. Will see where I'm at in a week. I normally put on 5 pounds while I'm away with him.

Me. I only step on the scale once a month or so, otherwise I tend to obsess. I do 99.9% of the cooking. Hubby has the perfect excuse for not cooking - he is "afraid he'll de-rail me". That, of course, leaves me doing all of the planning, shopping and cooking. Oh, joy! Don't get me wrong, I love to cook, and I MORE than love to bake. But I love to do those things with food I know will be delicious on the other end. The sad truth is that THM is an awesome program, and I believe it's the way I need to eat for my health, but doggone it, not everything on the plan is satisfying to the old taste buds, which are in rebellion at giving up the fun stuff. I do great, I lose a few. The taste buds win an argument, so I cheat a little, up goes the scale. It's very sad because I KNOW what I need to be doing but I am most often my own worse enemy.

emoticon Anyone else teeter on the scales? Ugh, so good and I stopped tracking all of my calories and unless my house scale is broken, I've picked up a few pounds. Typical for me to do that but I'm thinking I am destined to track my food forever in order to stay within limits. I am making a weekly menu out though with not being the one to do all the cooking there are question items until that evening and I try to stay on plan as much as possible.

Thank you for the new topic, Karina. I took a peak but not being able to concentrate well tonight so will try again tomorrow - I did change the setting so it shows.

Thank you so much. I appreciate it more than you can possibly know.

At this point I am not going crazy with food. We even went to lunch today and I made good choices and felt pretty great about it.

I can do this, right? The potential new job that I had 1 interview for a few weeks ago wants to do another interview when they complete the renovations on their new office. I hope they were serious. It's closer to home and actually has benefits, which my current job doesn't.

Karina, I paused to pray right now for job in application process - Lord, please make Your will and direction and plan very clear to Karina - put her heart and mind at ease and give her courage and health inclination to stay steady in her food choices, rest and activity levels through this waiting phase.
I encourage you to keep simple protein snacks handy - like cheese sticks, boiled eggs, premeasured packages of roasted meats like chicken/turkey breasts and keep pint bottles of water in your fridge so when you get fidgety or stressed, you can choose a protein and water and be healthy. Keep us posted I put you on my list.

Hey Ladies. It's been a rough couple of weeks. I won't go into all the details, but I'm looking for a different job. Long story short, I was in my previous job for 14 years. Family run business. My boss had a falling out with her family, sold her part of the company and moved. She is one of my dearest friends. The day after she left, her sister fired me, said she was re-organizing the company. I took this job because I needed something to pay my bills, and it isn't terrible, but I am so depressed when I am here. My bosses are opposite of me in every way, I am so sick of hearing the Lord's name spoken in such horrible/blasphemous ways. I am sick of hearing the leadership in our nation ripped apart on a regular basis, and am REALLY not good at holding my tongue. So not good at it. I'm sure I have callouses forming from biting it so much. I have a potential job that wants to hire me, but they aren't going to be done renovating their new office until the beginning of November, and in the grand scheme of things, that's not that far away! However, there isn't any guarantee I have that job. They said they want me, but I've heard that before. So, ladies, please pray that God's will be done. This new job seems great, has all the benefits and the pay I need, and it also is half the distance from home. I'm afraid to hope for it, and have put out applications at other places, but so far nobody is responding. As a result, I'm having a real crisis in the food department. I'm not eating all of my feelings, and I haven't thrown myself off of the wagon headfirst into a vat of cookie dough, but I am just not being as careful with portions or keeping my fuels separate. This is a slippery slope that leads to the land of I Don't Care! *sigh*

The weight was down a little more this morning but oh the puffy feet!! Need to decrease sodium and increase potassium. hardtop balance the different parts of my medical picture - wanting to "drink lots" for detox and flush out stuff but also restrict to my max for the congestive heart failure... But I have a good plan - just have to patiently and consistently WORK the PLAN!!!

Brenda B Blessed, how are you doing? - you are such an encourager, how can I help you? Others on the team, let's chat and help each other out.

Well, my first Monday without the Market schedule always on my mind - nice freedom and calm feeling. Also day 1 of my personal challenge to really get particular with eating and exercise plan for the sake of getting the blood sugar numbers DOWN to consistent safe rangeland the scales down too. Will follow the same plan i have been practicing but "really do it" - so this was a low cal day and carefully weighed foods and kept the protein level up and chose some good fats instead of carbs ended my day 150calories over goal but macros were good with LOW carbs! Tomorrow is careful THM day plus counting calories. And getting the time spans between the meals and snacks ..Determined to do this critically and precisely for two week challenge then ease it a bit with the lessons learned still at the forefront. Feeling proud and happy tonight.

I am. I really like it. You get more access to the recipes, there is a menu planner that helps you by making a shopping list as you plan the menu, you get 10% off at the store, which I use all the time, etc. You also get access to the E-Zine, the "un-show" which is basically like a podcast only on video, etc. I don't really use the forums much for conversation there since I'm part of the THM Facebook group - a couple of them actually.

Good Morning!

So far the coaching is going really well. We're using the "Veggie-Full Ultra Trimming" menu from the membership site. I don't think I've ever had so many veggies in such a short amount of time! emoticon I know this is certainly more healthy than how I've been eating, so I'm pretty pleased.
