Weigh in day - yesterday was third day in a row at 207 and I claim it as my present weight for start of Nov 2019 - my next goal continues to be 199.5 "ONEderland"
My goals are weight under 200 and blood sugar under 100 and remain mobile enough to maintain 2500 to 5000 steps.

Aw, bless you Linda.

I usually wear very sturdy hiking shoes so I can take walks at lunch. My new job started today, and next week we will be in our new office in Port Gamble. There are miles of walking/biking trails in the forest next to town, and even walking around town itself is like walking down the byways of history. It's so beautiful there, a little gem sitting on the end of the bay. I am really looking forward to working there every day.

I have put make-up on the veins, and I do have pantyhose to wear - even a pair of $110 compression pantyhose. Now THOSE are very special occasion only. I'm scared to get any sort of a run in them! I have a couple of pairs of shoes I can wear for dressing up that work - at least in the spring time. I have found that espadrilles work well for stability and they are cute. Now, for winter, I usually wear boots, or I have a couple pairs of decent leather clogs. They aren't dainty, but I suppose, neither am I. At 5'9" tall I have never been what anyone could call dainty, even when I was thin.I am sorry I was whining the other day. I was just feeling sorry for myself. Right now, after a day at the new job, learning new things, my brain is too fuzzy with all of these details to have the power to worry about appearance!

Oh Karina, Big hugs!!!! It breaks my heart to hear the pain in your post - just wish I could ease it away. I have a strong faith that God made me and he does not make garbage. I am blesssed with a husband that thinks I am pretty or cute and a grown daughter that has fought self esteem issues and is emphatic in making me feel pretty. How to help you? Silly idea, get a little bracelet that is dainty and makes you feel feminine. That was one of my first steps - The leg that is not pretty, can you put make up on it, or wear nylons over it - might also make it feel better! or nice slacks. For the sore foot, I have given into the good-for-me supportive shoes - I can be thankful that they are helping me walk a little longer and in spite of the progressive neuropathy. Keep talking, be real and we will try to encourage you!!!!

Brenda, you are right. Satan does want to take our joy and me being bummed out just feeds his appetite for preying on my insecurities. Thank you. I'll be sure to pop in and welcome the new folks.

Linda, I usually have a great deal of confidence. At least for all things not related to physical appearance. For years I had a sort of eating disorder. It wasn't anorexia, nor did I make myself throw up. I would overeat, KNOWING I was overeating, then exercise to the point of hurting myself - when I wasn't working I would set up my exercise videos and do one right after the other for up to 6 hours at a time, taking a break to feed the kids or deal with their issues. They thought it was all a game. Mommy was exercising so they would flit about the house "exercising" too. Now though, as my mid 50s arrived, so did a plethora of other stuff. I have a HUGE upper abdomen. I have enormous fibroid tumors that they assure me will shrink as I get through menopause. They don't hurt and aren't causing me anything except emotional discomfort, so surgery isn't on the table, even if I had had insurance up until now to cover it. I just look pregnant, which affects how I feel about myself, how I look in clothes, etc. Now if I really WERE pregnant (ignore the age thing) I would be thrilled because my husband always wanted children of his own, but apparently my early years of being fertile ended before we met when I was 40, and believe me, we tried. I hate hate hate how I look. I hate it. I hate trying on clothes. I hate buying clothes. I hate trying to look presentable at work. I hate it. I know my husband would love it if I dressed up more for him, but I hate how I look. I have a vein issue in my left leg, so I have to wear compression socks - and yes they do have cute ones, but they are stills socks! Compression pantyhose are ridiculously expensive, though I do have some for special occasions. At the same time my veins decided not to pump my blood out of my leg efficiently I got plantar fasciitis in my left foot - welcome to not having cute shoes! Dressing up without cute shoes is really difficult too! I know, that's all on the surface. I am not fat, I have fat. I am not ugly, I am beautiful. . . on the inside, which is what counts. I still avoid looking in the mirrors because I just feel angry at the person looking back at me. Sorry - it's a bad self-esteem day.

emoticon Linda prayed for you this morning and will try to keep you in my prayers for wisdom, courage and a good outcome on your follow-up for the aorta.

emoticon Karina I am with you on the weight thing however I have been coming to terms that if we embrace it then we work on it, otherwise we become discouraged because we feel there is little hope there. Hope is a great motivator and gives us the perseverance to push on. Satan likes to take away our hope, so I try to find the small spark to focus on. I think of it as walking by faith not by sight, like Abraham did. So when family members who I'm praying for act out, I ignore that other than to pray harder, but instead try to find something positive to focus on so Satan can't take my joy. You can't see the weight loss, but you have to pray and believe that IF you are faithful to eat and live healthy, that eventually it will happen and most likely not at one time.

emoticon Can you guys say hello and encourage my friend Melissa who is new to the group and posted some questions a few day ago about what exactly is THM? I am newest so my explanations will be the weakest but I didn't want her question to be unseen. Plus we have another new team member.

Karina, sorry for your discouraging weigh-in - yes it is "just a number" but it definitely affects us and is one of many measures - So deep breath - if that number fits the way clothes fit, and how you feel and look, then take a deep breath and set goals for changing

What can I do to encourage you, help make it easier, or just be here for you?

Linda - Praying for the heart issue! Please keep us posted.

Did the monthly weigh-in this morning. I hate the scale. I shouldn't let it bum me out like it does, but the "just a number" thing isn't really logical to me. The number is high, and that makes me a combination of sad, angry, etc.

Approximately every 6 months I set fresh baselines to match the Dr office. Yesterday was Dr. visit and smiling at results and sharing new baselines:
Weight - 207 on their scales matches my home scale the last three days!!!
Blood Pressure - 124/55 similar to what I have been recording at home last few weeks
BMI 32.9 - I need to learn about this - I have never paid attention to it
A1C - "the diabetes number" 5.6 Down from 6.0 and right on the border line between normal and "Pre-diabetic".
NOW - to keep learning and USING THM lifestyle:
to get the Fasting blood sugars under 100 in this next 6 months,
to get the scales UNDER 199
to increase mobility to consistently get in 5000steps per day
to learn about and set BMI goal
Finally - I would ask for prayer about the concern brought forward in this Dr visit - Heart tests show an enlarged aorta so will be going to cardiologist for evaluation and discussion - appointment set for Dec 2

Happy for your steady "hovering" at 190# seems like that is just a part of the very slow but sure path of weight loss. I am having trouble even working at loss right now - just want to maintain and not get scolded at the Dr office this coming week!!

I'm having trouble being consistant with recording things - Tuesday weigh in day was 205 Wednesday was 204.5 and this morning 204. and blood sugars are up again to 113 and 112

really wanting carbs in this colder weather here in Washington - hot tea just doesn't warm me like a fruit or a GF tortilla or potato - not sure if it is emotional eating or body really needing something or just rebellion against the restrictions of diabetic diet I do S breakfast real well but then want carbs at lunch and dinner - I keep working at it.

New prayer request and concern - my daughter [yes the pregnant one] has many moles and several have turned real dark - she had one biopsied today and is so scared they are caner. Has to wait a week for results and has been crying all day. Pray for peace, faith and for clear report. Dr. did not explain anything so will have to do some research on my own so I know how to encourage her - for tonight just reminded her God is in control and knows what goes before and after our times of fear.

Must get to bed - thanks for being here for my Mama prayers and progresses.

I love you thankfulness at being under 190 - sounds like that has been a goal. What is next goal? As you learn the THM food patterns and not cross over, your body will heal and that might take time and "stalls" but you are getting healthier and that is the real goal - not a number on the scale. A lot of people use measurements and how clothes fit to encourage them when the scales don't show it. Keep at it and the portion control comes with practice too.

I am a numbers person and have to know my calories and measures - not true THM style but it is what works for me. I love my food scale, the little 4 oz mason jars and measuring cups when I am really on task or in a specific challenge then I purposely take one day a week to NOT measure or record or count - just to see if I can apply what I have learned that week.

My weight was down another bit today and can tell that I am loosing some of the inflammation and swelling - happy Friday to you!

emoticon 189.2 Happy to be under the 190 mark, but feel like I stalled again. It seems to me focusing on the S's or E's for an entire was easier so I didn't cross them, but I also ate too large of portions this past week. I'm trying to think smaller no matter what I'm eating.

Rough last two weeks of markets - ate to survive not to be healthy
this two week challenge is getting my mind and body reset - todays official Tuesday wt was 206.4 so I am moving in right direction - I did see 210 one morning that was really scary to me!
Blood pressure is up a bit for me and swelling in feet in evening is out of control so have got to really work this challenge and get my numbers back in line.

Scales are coming back down. Actually saw the other side of 190 for a day but weighed in this morning at 190.2. I will take it. I was getting close to the 200 mark and nothing was helping. Current eating and taking Vitamin B Complex is a win.

I'm not sure if this would work for you, but I got some sound canceling ear protection and asleep mask for my eyes. It's pitch dark, and though I can still hear my husband snoring like a farm animal, it's definitely quieter and I can get to sleep easier. It helps if you sleep on your back, or inclined on pillows like I do, but it does help with the light and sound.

emoticon 193.8 - Scale back up. Heavy work deadlines and losing my focus a little. Finally boiled a couple of eggs, determined to eat on plan and do what needs to be done. Only had one walk this past week and have watched too much tv again or laid in bed wide awake for hours, tossing and turning from not being able to relax. It makes such a difference. Not sure how to sleep when the tv is on until 11pm or later.

Scale is finally moving........... I've been taking my Complex B and fueling better and just a week of being more focused I have lost 2 pounds this week as of today. Linda I am like you, I do the yoyo thing and I lose like a turtle typically so I know I have to be consistent. I am so encouraged and excited.

Though I claimed 203 as my low wt - I have bounced back up to 204 - but not concernd - will continue consistency and accept that the inflammation/ pain levels are high and will affect weight some - Tuesday is still the best day for me to do my official weight.

Yesterday, Tuesday, my weigh-in day was solid 205.5 so definitely the new low until this morning

April 1 - actually started week yesterday on the 1st -
FBS 97 and very happy for that!!! THM is low glycemic and teaches a few special tweeks for my pre-diabetes
Wt 210 and yoyos around that a few pounds - really hoping to concentrate and get it back down in the 204 range of course real goal is still ONEderland!
Mobility - going to work hard at getting pedometer steps up to 3000 daily and maybe see some higher - short walks outside feel good but frightening with advancing neuropathy and not feeling feet when I step on them - two canes when out of doors for stability.

Personal health issues in my 70th year: heart stents, advanced neuropathy w/back rebuild, pre-diabetic, celiac - Goals are JOY in living, be the best I can be, maintain mobility.

I missed weigh-in have been close to my 203 then got hit with congestive heart failure and fluid weight - progressed into flu symptoms so not doing well.
Blood pressure good, FBS is up with sickness and weight up 3# over-night and then back down with water loss.

Tuesday and weigh-in day for me 205# is three up from all time low but I am content and ready to tackle the loss again - Dr appt showed same as 6 mo ago when his scales weighed e in 5 pound lighter than mine! Diabetes stable and improving, cholesterol all stable and improving and EKG for heart issues was very good. Sooooo let's lose some weight before Christmas!!!

9/16 I still yo-yo a bit but am seeming to be more consistent in keeping wt closer to my lower numbers... have seen a few 202.0 days but scattered too far apart to claim it... today 202.8#

Tues - official weigh in day and want to bring all up to speed with my life
August is our hardest month for harvest of market gardens and huge loads to Farmer's Markets as vendors three days a week - long days even though physically I cannot help in the gardens, I keep the hubby going, and am active from my stool at the markets - Not much time for computer or even for taking good care of my health but daily try to eat healthy, hydrate and sleep
Stress level up but good stress with grown daughter visit with her beau - special dinner and close friend joined us - aware of eating total compliance . Pain levels and blood pressure both up. Busy day and no naps - slept VERY GOOD but did not use CPAP last night ...ooops.
8/07 FBS 110 BP 114/71 and weight down lowest in months! 205.0#

Doing a lot of resting and siting and rocking in the livingroom - not even out on the porch - flu like symptoms have ushered back in an auto-immune/fibromyalgia flare so back on meds starting tonight and will be pretty low key for a week - I don't talk about this much as that is not the emphasis of this team - lets get to learning THM and enjoy each other as we seek health and healing.

New treat tonight was 1/2cup fresh strawberries, 1/2 cup water and 1 Tbsp Chia seeds soaked all day in refrigerator - simple good food, good fiber and part of a good E meal - had a boiled egg with it and cup of hot peach GGMS. and 1/2 cup goat yogurt.

My goal is 144, but in the event I get lower I'll let it happen...but will stop at 140 for sure given my age and all..

Today is my official logging of my weight down to 159, can't believe it.....from 206.4 to 159, who would have thought, some months I lose 1 lb or 2 lbs, but thinking by next May 1 my second year I'll be at goal of 144...I maintain 144 for a couple years and felt great at that weight so my target.

Congratulations, Jean!

Luckily, that rate of weight loss usually does not continue beyond the first week. I say "luckily" because sustained rapid weight loss is very hard on the body and the metabolism. It's great to get a kickstart, though!

Weight loss shows popular on TV have proven that extremely rapid weight loss usually results in regaining all the weight (and then some)...because the metabolism is depressed, and the diet and exercise necessary on those programs is unsustainable.

THM is different. It works for me because it is sustainable. I just realized I am approaching my 100th day following THM! I can see why so many THMers have "Trimaversary" success stories to share!

That is great Jean!!!! You'll love this plan, have been on it 13 months and love it..right now I'm enjoying an iced coffee/chocolate frappe...like having a wendy's frosty, or a good ole shake...

Hello all...
I have been a week on program the scale went from 252 at Dr office to 248 yesterday morning...4lb down..WOO HOO! It was the 1st week tho...I do feel better...Jean

Hi there, no not discouraged at all, I lost 2.2 lbs this month - my reality is that is how I will lose the rest of my weight.
