Linda this also helps me. I was wondering if the % fit into the THM but it seems like when I am tracking and fueling properly I do better.

Thinking this might be of interest to others as well as me...
I still count calories with the spark nutrition tracker and then appreciate the % on that page also at end of day lets me know how I m doing for carbs with pre-diabetes, and fats for reality check towards more healthy eating of Keto type meals and then always throw in the celiac so basically ignore grains in my world. For the THM part, the tracker shows me how many fats, carbs and proteins I am getting and helps me stay closer to my "even keel" or macros that work for me.
What do you-all do . come share and encourage.

For me, I am just doing a daily plan, Right now I am doing 3 S meals and 1 E snack. I normally do my E snack in the afternoon, when I start to drag. I also have a FP 3-5 times per week.

I do still track all the water I drink, and try to make a point of having 5-8 freggies.

Goal 1000 fitness minutes/month!

I may not be to the finish line yet--but at least I am in the race!

A healthy me is up to ME!!!!!

Phyllis you are doing great!!!!

My recent doctor visit we discussed THM, told her not a diet because after 4 months I would be done, she said to be honest sounds like it is a lifestyle change not diet and makes for success verses dieting.

Thanks Deb - honestly - I am eating more often now then I ever have in so many many years - and wouldn't even think about the calories as I am more focused on the THM plan concepts. But SP tracker obviously puts those Calories front and center - and I have yet to hit my goal. So, I was just curious if anyone else experienced the same.

I will take your advice and ride it out for now - and I am NOT starving myself - nor wish to do so - as this is something I want to make my life - not fall away from..and if I was restricting myself - I would not be able to maintain it long term.

Hi Phyliss, I think if you have some high days and low days shouldn't mess with it, just my assumption. Are you measuring and weighing your food? Sometimes when we eyeball things we really are over say 1/2 cup, might really be 3/4 cup. If you are not weighing and measuring perhaps you are getting your calories in.

I read a study recently that said if a person doesn't prefer to eat breakfast it doesn't cause issues with their metabolisms actually what they found is those people ate 400 calories less a day and lost weight without any effects.

I would keep doing what you are doing and when you come to a standstill then worry if longer than a few weeks while your body adjusts to the new weight.

I'm not an expert just read a lot and see some many different studies done. If you come to a plateau ride it out for a few weeks.

It is funny but when I used to track calories when my range changed from 1200 to 1700, daily different calories I lose weight..so with your calories up and down you may be on to what works for you.

So..I use spark to track my meals..and use daily notes to track meal types and times so I Don't end up stacking my meals if there is a conflict. I am feeling good, losing pounds and inches in my measurements. I feel satisfied..my issue is, I never come close to my calories for the day..way under..should I be concerned that this will wreak havoc on my metabolism long term?

Thank you both so much... I have learned an important fact from you two. A light bulb lit up for me from y'all's comments and a youtube of Pearl and Serene I watched about a seesaw of the E & S meal fats.

I didn't measure anything but I guess I used about 3 TBs of Coconut oil and shared 3 very small (about 4 inches long) sweet potatoes with hubby, 2 meals of it. Chicken and all were diced.

I'm excited about learning more and more about THM so I can do this without guessing what I should eat.

Hugs, Charlie

Hi Charlie!

Just throwing my 2 cents in here. I think your breakfast looks like a great "S". Dinner is a little trickier. With the sweet potato, I would think it would be an E. But, it depends on how much oil you used. The rest of your ingredients would fall into the E category. Unless, I'm missing something.

We're all here to help each other. I love that we can chat here and get the help we need!

Hi Charlie, sounds like your breakfast was an "S" and your dinner "S" possibly a crossover because of the sweet potato..not sure...I'll ask Phyllis "maverickbaby" to opine here.

Thinking the chocolate drops were an "S" dessert.

Thanks for the link, I may end up printing it myself.

Hi folks,

I'm new to this team and THM but, I'm posting on the sparkpeople nutrition tracker so I can see how many fats and carbs I'm getting.

I don't have the book yet so until I do I'm learning what I can from here and the internet.

This is what I ate today www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/nutritio

Please tell me if I'm on the right track. My dinner meal was all those ingredients stir fried.

I have been trying to put everything I eat into the sparkpeople nutriion tracker. For me I have not added snacks yet and I am scared of not eating enough and my body going into starvation mode.

I used to do points, then used sparks nutrition tracker for years, but since I started THM I feel so free and I don't worry about calories anymore.

Funny when I first started I was freaking out about all the fat, cheese, fatty meats, etc. but so love this plan.

Sometimes I do add recipes to the nutrition tracker and post in our recipe section...it is nice to know. Once in awhile I also check for a day and totally surprised when I see within a normal calorie range.

emoticon in however you feel you can succeed!

I'm a lifetime member of Weight Watchers.....one of the things I do like about WW is that it has helped me keep portions in check. When I started doing THM, I gained weight. The added fat in my S meals were something my body had been lacking and I went crazy.

I've taken what I think is the best of both worlds. The new smart points program really steers you away from sugar (and saturated fats). My beloved coconut oil doubled in points.

I now log my meals on WW. It's something I need to do to keep my portions in check. I'm often over on my points, but it helps me realize if I'm eating too much.

I'll be 59 next month. My daughter's are on THM. They are young and nursing mamas. They have 3 snacks a day. I have either none or one. Snacking every 3 hours works against my metabolism. (And I'm super active).

Doing what works for me.

2 lbs lost at this weeks weigh in! Almost down what I gained during the holidays.

Hi all in the THM plan book page 89 "Can I continue to count calories or points? I thought perhaps I can find sections of the book open for discussion that might be fun!

What is your take on what is in the book? Do you count calories or points? Do you prefer not to?

Read the section and share your thoughts, feelings about it.

No one is right or wrong, as they say in the book "Do this your way and let nobody shame you--neither yourself nor anybody else!".
