I'm 117.25lbs this morning, which is 2lb above my average weight for the week. It was caused by eating bread, pastry and sugar over the weekend! My body adds weight (water or whatever - it feels podgy!) immediately I eat those things. Darn it - still, I know that it will come off again this week.

I'm sorry to see that Paula has left the team. Can we sustain this without her?

Gill you can buy and or build a normal sized house on your own land here in Australia but just not a Tiny House. Makes no sense to me why you can't!

Yes I do better also when I avoid those simple carbs Breads, pasta etc. In my honest opinion wheat is unhealthy not just for the gluten. Still have it occasionally prefer my organic oat sourdough bread.

Had an awesome day at Seaworld where part of the family swam with sharks. Then we all went out and had a fabulous dinner. Nice spending quality family time. More of that tomorrow (Sunday here).

Have a wonderful time!

I seem to be jogging along quite nicely, except that my weight is maintaining a few pounds higher than I'd like. I need to see what I can tweak to bring it down again. I think the culprits are the carbs (bread, bagels, crispbreads). I try to avoid eating any dairy, but do find it easier to keep my weight down if I include goats cheese in my diet (usually at breakfast with a bagel). Perhaps I'll have to start eating lentil dahl for breakfast.

I only just saw your post about the Tiny House - that's a strange rule in Australia - I don't see why you can't build on your own land? But, like you, the idea of a Tiny House has always appealed. There are some amazing ones, aren't there.

a Busy day at home again today. My daughter and her boyfriend arrive tomorrow morning. Have to be at the airport to pick them up. around 10am.

They will be staying until Sunday night then it's back to the airport to drop them off for their flight home again.

My daughter loves SHARKS so we'll be going to Sea World on the Gold Coast about 30 mins drive from where we live. I'll be watching along with a few other family members as Sarah, her brother Jake, my nephew Zeven and Ian (husband) hop in the water and swim with the sharks. Then we will be heading out for dinner afterwards.

Busy weekend planned. Lots to prepare today so please excuse me if I'm not on much! Will do my best and hopefully be back to normal come Monday.

Have a great day everyone!

I'm doing alright. Had to reschedule my dentist appointment and am going this Thursday to the Holistic Dentist so that will be interesting to see what she has to say.

Have seen a number of scale weights this week that came up and out of the scream weight lows. However, I suspect this is primarily due to multiple restaurant meals this week and higher than usual sodium intake with 4 of 7 days exceeding the recommended daily intake. So, we shall see if the trend will continue to climb or fall as typical eating patterns return.

Tea Bags are fine for visitors Gill. I'm like you I try to live with Less. Life is so much simpler and easier that way.

I'd love one day to live in a "Tiny House" as they are known. But my husband is not so keen. He's not too bad with his stuff but has way more than I'd like so he stores some in his shed out the back and a few things in our house roof.

Here's a link to a utube channel I really like on Tiny Houses. The only thing is most our governments and councils here in Australia will not let you own a piece of land and put a tiny house on it or build one yourself to put on there.

I really don't understand why. I would love to be able to do that. Sell our existing house and buy some land and build one or get one built by a Tiny House builder. You can however have one out the back on someone else's property. But that means paying rent and we don't do that now and don't intend ever wanting to do that. Why would we? LOL

I would like just a straight tiny house no bus conversion or huge tent like structure or that just a Tiny home looking structure.

Anyhow if you wish take a look at this utube channel to see what i'm talking about.

There is a shop in town that sells all kinds of tea pots............ I gave my china teapot away when I moved house as it was collecting dust! I have less space now, but might consider getting a medium-sized glass teapot with infuser - or even a second cafetiere which works quite well for tea too. Hmm.......... I don't want to acquire too many more possessions. Living alone, I decided some time ago to stop keeping a dozen of everything 'in case I have visitors' and now have just four of everything. Tea bags are a good fall-back for visitors I guess.

For my tea I have a glass teapot with an infuser in the middle for the loose tea to go into. This is great for making tea for 1 person. I also have a bigger 1500 L stainless steel teapot that works well with the infuser in the middle for making tea for visitors.

Good to hear that your tea company are going plastic free Gill that's awesome.

That's a great tea strainer for Halloween! I can think of someone I know that would really like that one!

Richard you've lost a wee bit of weight??? I think so am I right? from memory last weigh-in your were 141 KG ish ???

I bought a big bag of loose tea leaves today. I also contacted a local tea company (Cornish Tea and Coffee) and they said that from November all their tea-bags will be plastic-free, and they will also be selling loose tea. Good news!

I have a silicone tea infuser for making one cup - it's plain black, round, on a chain. I had no idea there was such a vast selection of novelty infusers - I just googled it! How about this one? Haha - Hallowe'en!

Also to that list are American brands Lipton’s - at least the “Soothe Your Tummy” health halo line! Their halo is crooked. One I have is the one with Fennel Ginger and Peppermint, I think - but the protective wrapper is plastic AND the tea bag is plastic. Ewww

Funny you should say that Julia about the tea bags being plastic my mother was just mentioning this to me on the phone a little while ago.

I knew some teabags must have been plastic now when I actually think about but some I would not have thought about.

For me now loose leaf green in my teapot from now on. You're right Gross to think we may have plastic inside us.

Especially for me one who tries to avoid any plastic in the home at all unless really and truly absolutely necessary.

What next eh?

Ewww latex! And just an hour or so ago, I read article by Dr Axe of how millions of nanoparticles of plastic floating in our green tea in those brands that use plastic tea bags! I have some of the Lipton’s brand teas and they are made with plastic mesh. They suggested using tea in stainless steel ball, or the paper kind. Gross knowing that I have plastics inside.

What's being done with GMO foods concerns me. I've read about latex being added to tomatoes. Because? What are they thinking?!

I really wonder how many of the food sensitivities folks are experiencing really isn't the food per se; but, the growing conditions and the genetic modifications being made.

I've done well myself green all week except for one change two days ago but it's kind of a healthy one.

What I'm doing at night along with my main meal is this: I've pulled my masticating juicer down from the cupboard and have been making vegetable juices to go with my main meal. Mostly all fresh ingredients from our garden.

Like celery, kale, cucumber, parsley, carrot, lemon, line, beetroot, cabbage etc... at this stage have not added fresh ginger or turmeric as I add those to my 11.00am smoothie. I have it them frozen in a big piece so I can just grate them easily into my smoothie.

Might buy some more so that I can cut them up into small pieces and freeze so I can add them to the juice as well for a double whammy twice a day of those nutrient dense foods / herbs.

I would like to find organic Pineapple to add that. But at this stage I cannot find it anywhere except online home delivered which would work out for 2 x 500Gram bags at $45.00 AUD Prices delivered. I'm not prepared or silly enough to pay that price.

Pineapple if not Organic 100% certified organic as well I might add then it's GMO and i don't eat GMO foods ever of any type! Not the best health choice in my honest opinion.

I do allow room on my plate for the glass of juice.

I'm liking the idea of the smoothie around 11.00 am getting all the fiber then at dinner time having the juice (no fiber) but just the straight goodness of all those vegetables etc... So easy on your body to digest.

Something I now feel I should have done a long time ago. Something I now feel I should have done a long time ago.

I use to do it earlier in the year as my breakfast but since intermittent fasting I stopped it.

Friday here in Australia! Here's hoping we all have a happy, awesome and successful weekend ahead!

Well that sure is interesting Jeannie! I tried the diet hacker site for me I found it was taking up too much time. I'm also not one to obsess to much over things. I've now decided to weigh-in only once per week.

I think I was getting a little bit obsessed with weighing daily etc.. and I have a life to live outside my eating habits, getting on the scale etc.... So now I just weigh-in weekly. I feel a sense of calm more over myself. I love keeping life simple and easy.

I actually think I'm doing better since I don't weigh myself daily anymore. I was consuming my whole life around calorie counting and weighing etc... and not really gaining anymore from it other than some slight knowledge but not a whole lot of gain and certainly not enough to let it rule my life like it used to.

Since stopping that I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulder.

I've found since I've decluttered our home and made a point to keep life simple and not take on too much daily my weight has been much better because of it.

Cluttered house / cluttered mind I think!

We are all different though and have to find what works for us and our bodies limitations.

But.............................. emoticon emoticon

Weekly nutritional intake is up. Average daily intake for the month of September is the highest it has been since the nutritional tweaks that occurred in March. Yet, the weight continues to bump along primarily in scream weight territory.

This is the third fall season that I've seen this pattern: higher (sometimes highest of the year) nutritional intake accompanied by low weight. Doesn't make sense to me; but, here it is again.

I've done okay today Had my smoothie at 11.00am then my dinner at night. Did have 2 squares of organic dark chocolate 85% dark just after dinner but otherwise did okay.

What I'm thinking of doing is this. I've never really bothered to track gardening and or housework in spark people as exercise. To me it's just been part of my normal day and did not think of either of them as extra exercise if you like.

But since I did 90 minutes of gardening today and 60 minutes of house work. I can do this amount of housework daily at least, some days even 120 minutes or more.

With the gardening I water everyday but every second day or so I end up weeding or pruning or de-heading and planting seedlings etc... So I've decided that on those days that I do more than just watering I'll track that also.

Not that it really matters in the scheme of things as I don't track food and even if I did track food I would not want to be able to eat more food just because I exercised. What good would that do? emoticon

So that's one change I'm making. It won't really change anything as I already know I do that exercise and more daily myself. but figured I might as well add it into the spark people fitness tracker.

Monday tomorrow I'll weigh in and see post here how I have gone all week.

Hope everyone has had a happy and successful weekend.

Keep smiling and Keep Sparkling. emoticon

I sometimes if I don't have a smoothie as my first meal / lunch will have a mixed plate of things and onto that plate I have a very small bowl in which I will have yogurt with a piece of fruit. Then technically it's still one plate of food only.

I prefer to have my smoothie usually though. But I do think it's good to eat a different meal instead now and again just so your body does not get used to eating the same thing. By eating a little different now and again you make your body work a bit!

I reckon the smoothie is a meal, like soup. But I do remember reading that Reinhardt says if he has soup for a meal, he has a BIG bowlful!

My fruit and yoghurt evening meals seem to be my key to keeping my weight down. In other words, almost on 2.5 meals a day really. I make lunch my largest meal.

emoticon Sounds yummy Gill.

I've actually had a smoothie for dinner before It can work well. The only thing is with No S one plate rule sometimes at night you may feel like more than the smoothie and the smoothie glass is technically like one plate I guess.

But i've had my loaded smoothie at night before then set a timer for 20 minutes knowing if I want to eat more I can do so after 20 mins lol but usually after 20 mins I'm so full still and busy doing something else by then I'm not even remotely interested in eating anymore after that.

That 20 minute timer idea can work at any meal time with any meal.

Today so far is good for me. We have our Brisbane River Festival on and tonight it finishes with a huge big fireworks display at our South Bank we'l be taking some fold up chairs and a picnic dinner with us and enjoying the afternoon markets then the fireworks in the evening. Nice way to spend a Saturday afternoon and evening. Even better being an S day.

Have a good one all. emoticon

I actually chose to have a simple smoothie for my dinner last night. The vegan protein powder I have is too sweet - even though it's all natural fruit sweeteners. I've almost finished the packet, so will look for a different one next time.

Very basic - almond milk, soya yoghurt, protein powder, strawberries, hemp seeds, raw cacao.

I felt hungry at bed-time, but just had a glass of water and went to bed.

Good to hear Gill that you stuck to your menu plan! You will start getting those pounds moving back in the right direction I'm sure. You are aware of it and that's a great start.

I did well stuck to my two meals yesterday first meal was my smoothie after having "S" days if you like on the weekend.

I always feel much better after having my smoothie. Some days I don't feel like it and it's a push to make myself have it as soon as I've had it I feel great!

I stuck to my menu plan today - three meals - which was great! My weight has gone up slightly in the last few weeks (only a pound or two, but drifting in the wrong direction). I'm not at work this way, so eat what I want, when I want - and less stress to trigger cravings.

I've posted quite a bit on my blog that I uploaded last night. I've come to realise we are a work in progress and always constantly learning.

From now on I will be weighing in once per week on a Monday. It's becoming too time consuming doing it daily for me. It is great once and while to see how you are tracking to know where you can tweak things. But adding it in daily in Spark people is time consuming.

So I'll only be weighing in once per week now. It will be a nice surprise each Monday to see how I've gone all week.

Like I said in my blog eating twice per day is enough for me. It's great being able to intermittent fast if you like the rest of the time.

Anyhow I had best get off the computer and go and get some things done.

Have a happy and restful weekend what's left it!

Keep smiling,

Hi all I'm making a few changes to my weighing in.

From now on I'll only be weighing in weekly once a week on a Monday. I feel it may be better for me to do this.

I've started a new thread on Gardening and have shared a couple of links you may like to look at for any avid gardeners like myself that are in the team. Or for those in the team who maybe new to gardening and want to get started with it all.

Feel free to take a look and share away any gardening links, tips, advice you may have as we can all learn off each other.

I'm heading out now with my husband we are off to get some materials so that we can make another 4 garden beds for our backyard. It will give us much more capacity to grow more different vegetables and herbs etc... than we already do.

I'll be back on later.

Keep on keeping on and chat more later on.

Keep smiling,

Paula emoticon

Back on track now no more little snacks at night. Ate two bags of snack sized potato chips / crisps the other night and that was why my weight was up a bit. With weighing in daily I can see anything thing going on and make minor adjustments where necessary.

Starting to get more and more in tune with my own body each day.

Did okay yesterday only thing was my main meal did not all fit onto one plate. I made a small bowl of salad to go with my 1/2 cooked rice, my lemon pepper fish and my peas forgot to allow room on the plate for where the bowl of garden salad should have been. instead the rice spread out. ( I follow NO Diet Plan and everything must fit onto one plate this according to Reinhardt avoids weighing and measuring making it easy to stick to)

Today I too can do better. As "when you know better you can do better".

Have a great day all. It's another busy day out in our vegetable garden for me.

Have a good day everyone. Keep smiling emoticon

Hi all.

Back from my weekend away. Tried my best not to over do it too much with my eating. The scales don't lie. Think I'e done okay overall.

Had a lovely time catching up with my daughter and her boyfriend. Had a nice dinner at an Italian restaurant near the Crown Casino.

Hope everyone else had a great weekend.

New week let's do our best to reach all of this weeks goals, be it weight loss / weight maintenance or others.

Packing a suitcase today with some things I'm be taking down to Sarah when Mum and I leave for our overnight trip at 7.30am tomorrow morning. Should be a lovely weekend (though short 2 days and 1 night) catching up with Sarah (daughter) and her lovely boyfriend Jarryd. Plus their good friends who also happen to be their housemates.

I'm going to be naughty while away and one time not Spark people friendly go to a place I've been to a few times before. It is this cake shop down there called Hopetoun tea rooms.

I've made a pact with myself that every time I go to Melbourne I must go there and try a new cake. All cakes are handmade on the premises daily apparently and they are to die for!

Luckily for me and my weight loss I only go down there usually once a year! (2 hour plane flight from where I live)

It's very famous over 100 years old and everyone goes there even if they don't wait in the long que to get in just to take a picture of their famous window filled with all your heart can desire in deliciousness!

Here's a picture of what I'm talking about.

Have a great day all and excuse me if I'm not on much this weekend will be enjoying my time away.

But I'll be definitely back to normal come Monday.

Keep smiling,

Heading out this afternoon with my mother she has an appointment at the hospital a once a year check she has for one of her knees that has been replaced. (both knees in total done) but think this appointment is just for the most recent one done (3? years ago now) time fly's by around our place.

Did better with my eating yesterday technically kept to all the No S rules / guidelines. (they are easily to follow anyhow that's why I like it so much).

Have a happy and successful day all.

Yesterday was not so good food wise for me in that I ate a small snack sized bag of potato chips last night. I was watching something really good on utube on being minimalist and had the urge to have some.

Normally this does not happen to me at night after dinner. I waited and persisted for a bit the feeling did not go away. So..................eventually I gave in and had that one small kid snack sized packet of chips.

Oh well No snacks part of NO S DIET turned into a small snack last night.

I know it happened for me as I should have gone to bed earlier. Oh well lol

Today is a new day to move and do better though.

This morning's weigh in looks like this:

WEIGH IN: 58.2kg or 128.309 pounds

BODY FAT PERCENTAGE: 31.4% as per my scales.

WEIGH-IN / CHAT / SHARE SUCCESSES OR FAILURES

I thought I'd move the daily chat and the weigh-in to one area. Eliminating the need for two threads that sometimes seem to overlap if you know what I mean.

Here's my weigh-in for yesterday (Thursday):

WEIGHT: 57.7 kg

BODY FAT PERCENTAGE: 32.1%

i'm using the Hackers Online Diet to see how the trend is going also now. I'll share on Sunday at the end of the week. I think it'll be a great tool to help me.

Thanks for sharing it Jeanne!

and Today's weigh-in (Friday) is:

WEIGHT: 57.9

BODY FAT PERCENTAGE: 33.7%

Today I'm going to be emptying out my pantry completely and cleaning out and rearranging the shelves and seeing how I can better make use of the space.

Plus I have a spot on the side of our garden where 1 rose bush died so I want to remove my moringa tree from it's pot into the ground there.

So that's what i'll be up to today plus getting some washing done.

Have a happy and successful day all.

Keep Smiling,

Paula emoticon
