CindyM19, it sure sounds like extreme insulin resistance. Protein can be broken down into glucose in the liver. Not to mention that the liver is programmed to create glucose In the early am. You didn't mention your BGL before bed. Or for that matter whether you are hooked into that whole "eat six times a day" thing.

Start intermittent fasting. Go full on keto diet. I'll bet your body will respond favorably and quickly.

CINDYM19 ,
What did you do after supper? And what time did you go to bed that night? For me, a whole LOT of control has to do with the timing...

"The real secret of success is enthusiasm..." thanks, Walter P. Chrysler. I believe it. That's what I want in my life--to give my imagination a chance, to live with energy and enthusiasm!
P.S. I looked up enthusiasm, and it says the root words mean God within... interesting...!

Ralph Waldo Emerson said 'Life belongs to the energetic.' But you don't have to be frenetic and hyper--some energy is quiet and steady, like a heartbeat... and that works too! LOL

Life comes one mome

I took Metformin for about 10 years. Because of Metformin never worked for me and never reduced level of sugar in my blood, Dr. Rx Glipizide, Medicine from SU family which force pancreas to secret more insulin. After I got MI and stroke, I started to look at my med with open eyes.
I stopped all medicine at once, and started to add it one by one to see which one works and which one is harmful. Sugar without metformin was better then with it.
This was how I stopped to take all what Dr. said, and started to take insulin. No SU, no Metformin, Just Lantus Solo Star.
Now I do not take medicine just because of someone said it is good for me. Probably it works for others, but never for me.
Good luck for you. Take care. And keep your eyes open. Trust in yourself.

Thanks for all the interest. Ate hamburger patty with cheese, horshradish and spicy mustard, broccoli and a small salad with lettuce tomato and cucumbers for sipper at 7:00 and fasting blood sugar was 181 this morning at 8:30. Very frustated. Taking METFORMIN. Go back to my Dr. In three weeks

I am not sure that my experience can be helpful. I take Insulin, Lantus Solo Star. In the morning my sugar all the time is lower then I wish to have. I have to reduce dose of insulin, so I try to do it now.
My weight did not dropping. But my A1c goes from 9.4% down to 5.9% (last blood work). Hope it will be better next time.
I do not take Metformin (poison effect) or SU, because of SU reduce Beta Cells insulin production. I do not take Invokana or any other medicine the same family. I cannot take Diuretics. They increase weight, level of sugar in blood, and effect heart in very negative way.
So, all what I can take just Insulin.
