I do take Lantus Solo Star too. It is very good insulin. I took many different other types, but no one type worked for me. So, it is not 100 units in pen. It is 300 units.
HAve nice day

What type of diabetes do you have?
As I do think it is very unusual type of diabetes. Just 3 weeks and your numbers down. Just 3 month, and A1c from 13.2% down to 6.3%
Do you have low blood sugar? You take 10 units of insulin and metformin. Does your numbers go up and down?

I only test my blood 2 hours after lunch and dinner. And once before breakfast. If thats what you are asking?

Or if you mean when it started testing, it took me about 3 weeks after I was diagnosed to get my numbers down to where they are now.

Have you ever tested your sugar for how long it was above the normal? I mean for how long your sugar was above the normal till it is returned down to normal after eating? One hr, two, three four?
thanks

nightstar My fasting blood sugar when I was diagnosed was 278. Now my morning fasting numbers are USUALLY 85-100 with a few times it was in the 110-115 range. My after lunch and numbers are under usually under 120. They are in the 140s when I eat pizza or potatoes. They almost never go over 150 anymore.

I did drink a lot of water, not sure if it was too much, but it might have been. I use a 32oz water bottle and was filling it 4-6 times a day. but i am not nearly as thirsty now, so I drink less. But still try to drink at least 65oz a day.

Its ok, I dont mind the questions. I know the numbers were bad, my doctor was horrified when she saw them.

Very interesting.
What were your numbers when sugar was 13,2%?
What are your numbers today? Fasting? 2 hr. after meal?
Did you drink too much water when it was 13,2%?
I never had this number. So, please forgive me for curiosity.
thanks

The medication is a tool, but it would not have accomplished what you did without your lifestyle changes! Congratulations!

NIGHTSTAR. I am indeed on medication. I was not hospitalized thankfully, it was all at home. I take metformin twice a day, and 10 units of lantus once a day. I watch what I eat like a hawk and measure literally everything. I stopped eating out all together, changed nearly everything about how and what I eat and i monitor my blood 3 -4 times a day. The medication no doubt helps a ton, but i like to think some of it was me too emoticon I also go to classes for help on managing. I just hope I can keep my numbers down. I might beable to get off the insulin shots soon!

I am interesting, how do you do it? From 13% down to 6% just three month! What did you do? Was you in hospital? Was it home treatment? Is this some alternative treatment? How do you do now? Do yoy rake some medicine, or you diabetes - free?
thanks.

"The real secret of success is enthusiasm..." thanks, Walter P. Chrysler. I believe it. That's what I want in my life--to give my imagination a chance, to live with energy and enthusiasm!
P.S. I looked up enthusiasm, and it says the root words mean God within... interesting...!

Ralph Waldo Emerson said 'Life belongs to the energetic.' But you don't have to be frenetic and hyper--some energy is quiet and steady, like a heartbeat... and that works too! LOL
