"The real secret of success is enthusiasm..." thanks, Walter P. Chrysler. I believe it. That's what I want in my life--to give my imagination a chance, to live with energy and enthusiasm!
P.S. I looked up enthusiasm, and it says the root words mean God within... interesting...!

Ralph Waldo Emerson said 'Life belongs to the energetic.' But you don't have to be frenetic and hyper--some energy is quiet and steady, like a heartbeat... and that works too! LOL

Life comes one mome

Welcome! Spark gives us the roadmap to a healthier life. Many join Spark to lose weight, but this group is here to really save our lives. The good news is it is very doable. You have gotten some good advice here already. Maybe sit down and list the barriers to achieving your goals. I will share a couple of mine to show you what I am talking about: 1) The more sweets I eat the bigger my appetite for everything. Solution: I dropped all sweets from my diet until I was "clean" and no longer craving them (for me about 3 days). Then I very occasionally have a treat - maybe once a week, if that. I no longer want to eat everything in sight. 2) I'm a night grazer. About 30 minutes after dinner I am looking for a snack and can keep going from there. Solution: After doing the dinner dishes, I brush my teeth. It seems to signal my brain eating is over for the day. Even if I get a pang for a snack, it is not strong enough for me to give into it. Please remember you can't tackle everything at once; strive for moderation. This needs to be a liveable plan you can sustain. Pick some things to start out with, like drinking 8 glasses of water a day. You can build from there. Over time, you will see better A1C numbers and feel so much better. The weight will come off. Best of luck!

"This too shall pass."

Welcome. One step at a time. Check your blood sugars often. Keep a food journal. Those 2 pieces of information will give you an idea of what foods work (or not). Have you seen a diabetic educator? That is a huge help. Otherwise, stay connected here!

Love is the root of all things good in life.
