I have given up wheat and my blood sugars have dropped like a rock. I've had to give up my night time glipizide and now am giving up my morning dose. When I eat products with wheat in them, I am constantly hungry.No wheat products for me which includes "healthy" whole wheat products.

I don't eat wheat because it is 80% carbs by weight (sugar is 100%, so this is a close second).

But there are plenty of people who don't tolerate wheat for other more subtle reasons. Arthritis is an example of an issue that can be impacted by a reaction to eating wheat. The continual consumption of wheat (bread, breakfast cereal, cake ...) and you don't even make the connection that this is due to what you are eating.
