You can certainly try that suggestion, though I don't know that I agree about ALL grains and starchy vegetables, since they often have fiber and trace elements that are useful... but FOXSTAR10 is correct that we definitely should be wary of them.

Portion control is absolutely crucial, and anything that's too processed is a problem--which includes most of the forms of grains we're used to eating, these days.

The thing is, while some things are universal, we're all of us unique as individuals, and our reactions to things can vary all over the ball park.

Example:, My grandmother was diabetic and couldn't eat any fruit of any kind. I can eat any except dragon fruit, papaya, or star fruit, plus I don't have any problem with pasta, potatoes, etc in small to normal amounts, but only a tablespoon of rice--and DON'T FEED ME ANY AMOUNT OF CORNFLAKES, sweetened or not-- I can, however, eat a whole cup of unsalted whole kernel corn with no adverse effects what so ever...! LOL

Best thing I ever did in a situation like yours was to start logging and making notes on EVERYTHING: I'd advise you to make good use of the loggers here, and STUDY the data you collect. Test before each meal for a while so you can look for trends and check what and when you've been eating and make a note of the timing for your activities between the highs and lows. Then you will be able to tell when you should be more--or less-- active, which kind of carbs you as an individual are more sensitive to, etc.

If you do the checking consistently for a few weeks, then you'll have a good idea what to do. AND, you'll have information you can print and take with you to see your doctor and nutritionist. They'll love it, and might even compliment you on your recording skills! LOL

Don't worry, you'll get it, you'll see.

Keep posting, we are all into learning from each other, and maybe you can teach us something along the way!

"The real secret of success is enthusiasm..." thanks, Walter P. Chrysler. I believe it. That's what I want in my life--to give my imagination a chance, to live with energy and enthusiasm!
P.S. I looked up enthusiasm, and it says the root words mean God within... interesting...!

Ralph Waldo Emerson said 'Life belongs to the energetic.' But you don't have to be frenetic and hyper--some energy is quiet and steady, like a heartbeat... and that works too! LOL

Life comes one mome

I was taking Lantis once a day 25 units. I no longer take any and very little Humalog. The best thing you can do is to stop eating grains of any kind and starchy vegetables. You will be surprised how fast blood sugar readings get under control.
