I hadn't ever seen the Ceylon until going into that spice shop last year. Love that store.

They have a new one at the spice shop I have been going to. I think maybe Singapore. Can't remember for sure. It is supposed to be a sweeter cinnamon. I wanted to get one of their samples, but I kept forgetting to go over there.

I was taking the capsules, but I think that is what was bothering my stomach, so I have quit for a while. Might try again once that settles down.

My Dr said to use cinnamon in the spice section. Can't find any other kind.

Thank you for the link Linda. I have it pulled up to read.

NorasPat, thanks for the information on the almonds. I hadn't heard about them helping. I can't eat the whole ones, but can manage the slivered, so maybe I will add that to my diet. That would be great for when I am wanting to munch on something.

I googled Cinnamon" Ceylon or Cassia and got lots of hits. Here is one article to get you started.

I take a couple of cinnamon caps everyday, but must admit I never thought of the SOURCE of the cinnamon until now. But now that I know, I sure will be more diligent....

My doctor has said that cinnamon, whether in a capsule or in food or drink is not going to hurt. The ceylon just isn't the kind they sell in grocery stores or even in the health food stores around here (though some of the capsules might be that kind). The Ceylon is sold in the spice stores just like any other kind of cinnamon. All I am wondering is if the other brands of capsules has Ceylon or Cassia.

I am not wanting to start an argument of whether a person can take it or not or whether it works or not.

I understand it is not table cinnamon you want to use. I would caution using herbal remedies without a good nutricianist (herbal) guiding you.

I love the flavor and put a good amount (maybe 1/2 teasp.) on my breakfast chia or my yogurt, together with some apple or berries and maybe a bit of stevia/eryhritol. It also mixes well in milk/cream drinks.

My daughter mixes up cinnamon in honey and keeps it in a Pyrex bowl. Then she takes some daily.

Only I can make it happen

Oh, I didn't even think of that. I have some ground Ceylon cinnamon, but that is hard to use in some things (like drinks) because it doesn't do anything but keep floating on top. I guess I need to go to the spice shop and see if they have the sticks. Thank you.

I know the use of cinnamon is controversial and many don't believe in the use of it for sugar control, but my question is for people who do use it. I have read often about it helping, but I have also read that it has to be a certain kind, not the kind you get in most stores. I was thinking it is Ceylon cinnamon that is supposed to help and Cassia was what you find in the spice row at the grocery store. I got some supplement capsules of cinnamon and found out the other day that they are Cassia. If you take the supplement like that, what brand do you use and does it say what kind of cinnamon is used for them? Mine, I think, was BOGO and I got 2 large bottles of 1000 mg capsules.

BTW, for anyone who wants to try the cinnamon for that purpose, don't just take it by a spoonful of loose cinnamon. Don't want to hear of anyone choking on that.
