Monday – Cold again yesterday, but the sun was out most of the day. Hurray!

Both of us are feeling up to speed again. That’s a good thing because it’s MONDAY! Back to work.

Almost ready for our trip to MN for my check up. I’ll be glad when we get back!

Let’s make it a momentous Monday!

Darlene: Good for you for being a kid @ heart! Sounds like you had a wonderful day tyesterday.

Smoked turkey is so good. Enjoy.

Amy: good to have an uneventful day. Awwww, the cats know what a good thing is!

Yes, LOTS of mail, but got thru it.

Today actually is a bit warmer. I’ll take it! AND the sun is out. Definitely appreciate that!

That’s so awesome that the Botox is working. I have never had a migraine, but my brother suffered from

I had an uneventful day today. I do need to get caught up with the housework, I figure that will come soon. I ended up taking a 4 hour nap this afternoon. I didn't miss much as the Broncos lost this afternoon. When I woke up all the cats were cuddled up with me. I found a few recipes on Pinterest this morning that is supposed to remove cat pee stains and odor. One of the grandfurbaby boys sprays insanely so I hope it works on spray odor as well. It is also supposed to work as a cat deterrent also. Considering that I am allergic to cats and having this problem it could be a part or maybe all of my sinus problem. The cats have been very vocal today. Everything is great in their world as far a food, water and clean cat boxes, so have no idea. I just talk back to them :)

Barb.... I was slammed with Sparkmails as well this morning! Keep warm over there. The weather is ok here in the 40's I think tomorrow and Tuesday it is to get into the 50's. I am so ecstatic that the Botox is working!

Darlene....I hear you with the going to sleep in the middle of the night. I also have the problem of sleeping a couple of hours and waking up in the middle of the night not being able to go back to sleep. The cookies sounds like they would be really good, love cinnamon sugar:) sounds like the hayride was so much fun! I have seen and head a bass oboe, there was a girl that played one in the band I was a part of in middle school. I played the clarinet. Ugh I forgot that Murdoch's was having reindeer! Oh good that you finally got your smoked turkey and it is always lovely to come home to a nice meal.

Enjoy the start of a new week tomorrow!

Yesterday I was having problems getting things done so I didn't get to essentrics. I woke up late because I got to sleep late (or maybe early -- like in the morning). I got some cookies done and took them to the church. Just some sugar cookies from a package and without decorating sugar I put some cinnamon sugar on them. I couldn't believe that people actually were eating them, but when we got back from the hayride most of them were gone.

The hayride was around the Christmas story, from when the angel told Mary she would be the mother of Jesus to the full inn, to the barn and Jesus birth. Before the ride we went through a room where there was someone taking pictures. The one she got of me was the best one since I was about 19. I really liked it. There were also people playing different instruments near the refreshment area. One played a bass oboe, which is something I have never seen or heard before. Another a saxaphone, I think.

Before the nativity started I went to Murdoch's, where they had a couple of reindeer. Guess I am just a kid at heart where something like that is concerned.

Today I got my smoked turkey, so I had a nice meal when I got home. I haven't had anything very good for about a week and a half or so, or since a few days after Thanksgiving when the leftovers ran out.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend and has a good week ahead.

Sunday – Looks like SP e-mail notification is s back working. YIKES! Slammed this morning.

What a cold day yesterday was! And continues on today. Ah well. Just have to bundle up.

Feeling better today. Yesterday was tired from the vaccine. So, just had a chill-out day.

Hugs and blessings

Amy: Glad you’re feeling better this morning.

Glad the botox helped and do hope that the CT of the sinuses goes well.

Glad that at least you will have the opportunity to take the seminar again.

Sunday

I was so sad last night and I am not sure why, couldn't shake it so went to bed. I am feeling better this morning. The cats are very vocal this morning their talking woke up this morning LOL. I am so happy that I got Botox injections on Thursday! I am finally out of the feeling blah today from the injections. I am not sure yet what I am going to do today, I have catching up to do with whatever I decide to do. Tomorrow evening I have my CT Scan of my sinuses.

Barb....Glad that you got out for breakfast. I was not getting notifications and mail from Spark yesterday also. Wonder what that was all about. It really sucks that I had to leave the real estate class on Friday so need to do the workshop the next time they are in town. It is probably better as I will be more up to it then. I am so happy the headache no seems to be gone and no nausea today. Hopefully next weekend my sons and I will be going out on the town :)

Have a great Sunday!

Saturday – Out to breakfast. Kinda tired from the vaccine, but ALWAYS have energy for the breakfast date!

Glad that today is a bit of a slow day.

Enjoy your Saturday.

Is anyone else not getting blog notifications, etc. from SP!? Think it’s down. OH well.

Darlene: Hope the real estate classes go well.

That is nice that the gentleman will bring information on lectins in case it might help someone else!

Have fun @ Essentrics and the nativity @ church.

Amy: Sorry to hear you were sonauseated. **SIGH** But glad the headache wasn’t aws bad.

And sorry you had to miss going out w/your sons, but hopefully you can do that when you’re feeling better.

Friday Evening!

Getting into the teams late in the evening I have got to stop! I woke up very nauseated and my head hurting although not nearly as bad as it has been. I went to the real estate workshop but could only stand 2 hours of it as the nausea was getting worse. I talked to one of the people in charge and she said I didn't look like I was feeling very well. She said to call the headquarters and talk to someone about attending another workshop. So I get home and call and one will not be here for around a year. Figures! Those 2 hours we were discussing what we were going to cover over the 3 days and tapped briefly into some of them. A year is probably better as I am just now starting to really work on my health and getting myself to feeling better. I took a long nap when I got home and I am now feeling a lot better. My son's wanted me to go out on the town with them this evening, when they asked I definitely just was not feeling it, now it wouldn't be so bad. Maybe tomorrow night.

The Botox injections left behind bruises on my forehead and bridge of my nose. I can't see the back of my neck and shoulders and scalp if bruised there. I don't care if it helps stop the headaches. On the way home I saw a couple of new housing developments being built up that are more in my oldest son's price range. He will be coming up here tomorrow to visit with his cats.

Jules... Oh good, I am relieved to hear that it was really your bank. That is the downside of the identity theft protections, it makes it a real pain the rear to prove that you are really you! I hope you get everything sorted out soon. We can make unscrewup a word, LOL. I think the Botox deal very interesting as well and it really helped me in the past. You get injections every 3 months. No snow here either but chilly. I am so ready to end this year! this year has been the year of infections that won't go away, before my sinuses it was my kidneys with infected kidney stones.

Barb....Glad Jason is home for the day! I will be getting my Shingles shot in January. Such a nasty condition/disease. My mom's boss had shingles that somehow affected his brain! I also hope that 2019 is a better year for all of us!

Darlene...I will have to attend another workshop when they come back to town. I do have a lot of book reading to do in the meantime about it. That is interesting with the lectins. I am in the beginnings of finding out what foods reduce inflammation, really did not think of looking for ones that cause it. The live nativity celebration sounds wonderful!

Have a great Saturday everyone!

Amy, that is great that the Botox helped with your headache. A friend of mine used to have to have that for hers. All except when she went to a lower altitude. Something helped a few years ago and I don't think anyone knows what, but she doesn't get them now, or at least not as bad.

Hope your Real Estate stuff is going well.

Jules, that is terrible that you are having such problems with your bank. Hope you can get it straightened out soon.

I went to Bible study this morning (almost ran out of gas or at least was really low). Then this afternoon went for my yoga class. There was one man and me and the teacher and we got discussing diet tweeks. He has been studying on lectins (beans and such) and the inflammation they cause, so he is trying to get off coffee and such. He knows some people who have had things like rheumatoid arthritis and other problems that getting off the lectins helped. So we didn't end up with our yoga at all, but had a very nice discussion. Decision was made he will bring copies of information on that and he said he would also treat us to a meal at a particular restaurant that I guess is a very healthy one (similar to Dr. Weil's restaurants). The guy was wearing scrubs and I got to wondering if he is a former partner in the vet clinic I take Cassie and Orzo to. Have no idea, though. I can't remember at all what that vet looked like.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Tomorrow I plan to go to essentrics and in the evening to the live nativity at church. The live nativity will have the Christmas story narrated, some songs and music, hayride, cookies and hot drinks.

Friday – Jason is working from home today, wahoo! We get our Shingrx vaccines today, so imagine we’ll be in line for a nap. We shall see.

Have the laundry done to be able to start packing for our little trip.

Enjoy FRIDAY!

Darlene: Cold here for sure . . . 17F. But at least the sun is out.

Amy: Soooo glad the Botox helped end your headache!

Wishing you luck w/your Real Estate Workshop.

Jules: good luck working thru the situation w/the bank. I can only imagine utter frustration.

I hope 2019 is a good year for all of us!

emoticon TGIF!

well the bank stuff is/was real - we are still trying to prove/document ourselves... for crying out loud.... been with the bank since early 90s... it is crazy... the new regs and banking systems... I'm sure it's all to help with fraud, prevent blackmarket activity, terrorist funding or whatnot... and when something gets screwed up in the system, it can be hard to unscrewup. Is that a word??? LOL

ok... big deep breaths... releasing it for today... putting my smile back on...

Amy, interesting on the botox… hope it remains helpful...

emoticon no snow here... but chillier so bundling up when outside... I can't believe 1 week down in Dec already... we will reach 2019 soon... just intend to enjoy the next 3 weeks as we ring out this year... I am glad this year will be over... I hope next year is better, for all of us… A girl can dream, eh?

Late Thursday Evening

I took the herbal medication that I took on Tuesday night and they did work at all the next day! I am so worn down and beyond frustrated. I went to see my neurologist this afternoon (Thursday) she was looking for meds for me that may work, she said the Dr. didn't try very hard for alternatives. Then she asked what about Botox and I said I would love that and my former Neurologist was sitting on it. I asked how soon I could get an appointment for the Botox, she said with the situation of how long I have been suffering with the pain she said today, right now. I have had Botox before and it does work. I was feeling a little nauseous driving home which is normal when I have had my previous Botox injections. I went to bed as soon as I got home at 3pm and I got up at 9pm. I am felling better now and no headache!
The headache was the major concern to work on today so we did not go further with discussing coming down off of the Gabapentin.

I have my Real Estate Workshop tomorrow and all weekend, so I hope that the Botox keeps the headaches at bay.

Barb....I hope your CPA gets things moving forward from now until closing. That is good news from the eye Dr. Enjoy your trip.

Darlene....Oh cool, my mom does Silver Sneakers also although I am not sure if it the classic one or not. For me it is comfortable outside well except in the early mornings that is. I just went out in leggings and a long sleeve shirt and was fine. I have been feeling so hot the last few years and if I am comfortable on 25 degree weather without a coat, I am absolutely suffering in the summer time. I have to have air conditioning. I am drinking honey vanilla chamomile tea right now. I am the same with tea as you are.

Jules.....Life does seem to love throwing things at us that is for sure. Oh my I hope you hung up! Banks will not call you about personal information, only written correspondence.

Have an awesome Friday!

Jules, that is crazy with your bank, especially when they are doing it more than once. Have they been having problems with hackers? Make sure you go down to the bank for your proof so they can't do anything to get your private information if they are scamming.

Barb, I'm glad your eye appointment went well.

About froze this morning going to pickleball. They had said on the weather report that the entire state would only be in the 20s to 30s high and I think it was below that when I left here this morning. I am still cold. Didn't do too well playing today, either.

Hoping it warms up tomorrow. Have a nice day, all.

Thursday – The eye exam went well. No problems. Grateful. There is such a long history of glaucoma on Mom’s side of the family!

NO appointments today! Lots of phone calls to make sure things are in the works to correct mistakes made. Mailed off the information needed by the IRS via UPS so I am sure it’ll be delivered.

Otherwise, it’s a game of catch up and prepare for next week as we’ll be gone to Rochester MN for 2 days.

Hugs and enjoy Friday EVE!

Jules: All I can say is YIKES!!!! Hope it all gets straightened out quickly.

emoticon waves hello :)

life! sure has a way of throwing weird stuff at us, eh? We had a call from the bank today, had an account with them for decades but they needed to verify whatnot because of regulations... a few years ago, we had to show our birthcertificates/reverify for our drivers' licenses... after having the licenses for decades... now bio stuff can be used for phones/computers? Heard about a scam today where they record you saying affirmative "yes" over the phone and use that to rob you blind... and for all that, I still have to prove who I am... and how do you prove you're not? LOL - don't even get me started about the other 1/2 dozen people who live nearby with our same names who we get mixed up for...

ok, I know this makes no sense but... it's nice to have friends chatting here :)

Hope your week is going well ~ all things considered! (grins :)

Amy, I'm glad you found something to help with your headaches and sinus problems. It is so awful when you can't do anything.

My Monday class is Silver Sneakers Classic. I should have gone even though I was so sleepy this week.

Had to run out and get some honey for tea (hot tea I don't like without it, cold tea I can handle with no sweetener), milk and spreadable butter. Cassie did not want me to go anywhere. I was only gone about an hour this time. It's just too cold for me to stay outside now.

Wednesday – Well, today’s entertainment dujour is my eye exam. Not expecting any surprises.

It is definitely going to be freeing when this estate is closed. Still waiting for a call back from the CPA and in the meantime, MY CPA got involved. Maybe that will get the fire lit! Lord have mercy.

Well, it’s Wednesday . . . mid-week, we’re still standing. Victory!

ON a fast track, ladies. Talk more tomorrow! HUGS

Greeting on this Wednesday at the witching hours of the morning

I went to Pulmonary Rehab today, I really didn't feel like going because of the headache. I had the exercise portion first since it was my first day I had more of fitness assessment for them to figure out what do for me for exercise. For equipment I was tested on a bike and my nemesis the treadmill. I just really hate them. I'd just rather stay on the bike for the 30 minutes than the bike for 15 and the treadmill for 15. I finally found a herbal remedy that works for my sinuses it is called Mezereum, I did buy 2 other herbal remedies one for headache and the other for eye strain, I haven't had to use them at all. It is so nice to not be having pain.

I sent my Dr. an email about please give me some Vicodin until we find out what is going on. May not have to worry about it anymore now. She wrote back that Vicodin actually caused rebound headaches which would just make things worse. My former Neurologist was worried about that. So I am to talk it over with my new Neurologist at my Thursday appointment. I have gone through so many Neurologists at this clinic because they all end up leaving.

Later today I need to do my assignments and get things printed out that I need to do before the Real Estate Workshop this weekend. I really hope this is worth my time. Somebody paid for me to be able to attend the workshop, I have absolutely no clue as to who. They must have belief in me that I can do this! I am both nervous and excited. I bought some nice dresses to wear for the 3 days at the Goodwill store, even better everything in the store that days was 50% off :)

It is chilly here during the day I don't need a jacket. At night and early morning I do need the coat, hat and gloves and boots. It is 15 degrees out there now.

Jules....Oh yeah I imagine that Costco will be a zoo, have fun there today! Here that is a good thing to be outside with furbaby because of the coyotes in the nearby open spaces. Glad that you are getting little bits of exercise in while you wait. I hope the Neurologist helps me too.

Darlene.... Not that I am aware of it is consistent less pain when waking up and gets worse and worse throughout the day. I have the few days here and there when I am without pain for a time. I really think they have caused some brain damage. Maybe should get an MRI done to see. True with the canned goods at the food pantries, the sad thing is the bread doesn't last very long. The food pantries up here also have a lot of sweets which I take none of it. What class is it that you have on Monday? I also watched that show the guy with the cans I wasn't crazy about how he decorated them though. I wish that I was a crafty person. So good that you did not injure yourself with the fall. Heck just from hearing the description of pickleball I doubt I would be able to hit the ball either! I hope today is a better day for you.

It is now 3:30am and I am not at all tired and I am just loving freedom from the headaches. I know if I lie down to go to sleep now I will just toss and turn. I think I will do a meditation/visualization exercise session now. Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Barb.....Oh good glad this is the last part of the root canal. Oh dear, what a total disaster with your parents estate. I would just be fuming with that CPA! I am sorry that you are having to go through all of that! Thank you, I really am feeling better now, I knocked out a severe headache with that herbal remedy that I am so grateful that I bought. Get this I knocked it out in 5 minutes time! It is going to be nice to spend time with my Uncle this Christmas. Colorado Springs is so beautiful sorry the altitude was not nice to you.

Barb, that is horrible. They seem to just be running you around.

We got sun today, but still cold. I just am not liking the cold temperatures.

Today I just am having problems with everything, it seems. I fell down playing pickleball, turned on the wrong burner on the stove, and burned my soup. I sure hope I am through with all that. At least I didn't get hurt when I fell. Couldn't seem to hit the ball, though.

I'm glad your tooth is feeling better, Barb.

Tuesday: Off to the dentist for the last part of my root canal. Glad to be done w/that.

I am in disbelief. In order to close my parents’ estate, I have to wait to get their refund deposited into their estate account. THEN today in the mail, I got a note from the IRS that they need MORE information to process the refund. WTH! So, now I have to talk w/the CPA who did their tax return and figure out what to do now. Makes me mad, because if HE had done the return when I asked him to, there still would have been a chance to close this account this year. NOW there is no chance. The IRS says it takes 6-8 weeks to process the information and issue the return from the time they receive the additional information they need. I am ready to spit a tack!

I have a call into my attorney AND that CPA. GAH! Then to top it all off, some of the account information for Mom wasn’t stepped up to the time of her death, or it was done incorrectly. GAHHHHHHHHH . . . I NEED A DRINK!!!!!

Amy: I am glad that you are feeling better.

That’s nice that you’ll see your Uncle Edwin @ Christmas. I lived in Colo. Springs back in 1988-89. I loved it, but the altitude did NOT love me!

Got the presents mailed out. Now to wrap the rest! That’ll come.

And had visit #3 today. Tooth feels good, but have 1 more visit on the 17th. UGH

Jules: Glad you have the sun. Haven’t seen it in awhile.

Darlene: Good luck w/making items for Christmas. I just don’t have that talent.

Amy, do you get any kind of warning before a migraine comes on? I don't think that is very common for people, but warnings like the light flashes in your eyes or some kind of different visions showing up in your eyes seem to give a warning to some people. I found out that those are precursors to my migraines, so I just grab a tylenol or ibuprophen and stop it before it starts. It would be great if you could find a warning like that.

I have noticed I really need to eat a bunch of canned food. I have mostly been trying to make food from scratch and the canned food has really backed up. That is what they have mostly at the food pantries. I still have to get tomatoes, pumpkin and green beans from the store, though.Mostly get meat, dairy and some produce from the store. I have too much pasta sauce now, so will have to fix some spaghetti squash now.

I have missed my Monday class again. I didn't get to sleep until close to 4:00 this morning, so I really didn't want to get up before 7:00. I have to stop doing that.

I've been trying to figure Christmas gifts. Today I was watching some program and the guy was doing a DIY using recycle cans and different ways of decorating them. Then he glued them on a decorative board to use as catch-alls. Wish I could see more of those things. I don't know that the cans are such a great idea, but I do have some craft supplies that might work to make some things nice. Before I always had to get the supplies to make anything.

emoticon Hi everyone ~ I also am avoiding stores as much as possible... except we're doing a big restock shop at Costco on Wed... such a zoo! better Wed than weekends though!

fortunately, the clouds parted and its sunny instead of grey... my little furbaby likes us out with her when she does her business ~ I actually have come to enjoy the little exercise bits I can fit in while I wait... and especially when it's sunny and not too cold but I am going to have to whip out my winter mittens, my fingers have been getting frosty!

need to jet - back soon! Hope you all have a good week/appointments with whatever you do!

Amy - hope the neurologists helps!

Sunday Evening

I am feeling much better, I broke down and borrowed 4 Vicodin pills from my dad yesterday. Headache was completely gone until this afternoon it started coming back a little. I bought some Excedrin Migraine and it is keeping the headache at bay I hope it continues to do so I don't have to borrow anymore pills from my dad.

My Uncle Edwin moved back to Colorado after being in California for 40+ years, he lives in Colorado Springs which is about a 2 hour drive from where I am. My mom said that he is coming up here for Christmas. This will be my first Christmas with him. I did some Christmas shopping today as well as grocery shopping, I just could not get away from crowds today!

It was downright cold this morning, it was a sunny day and a little chilly in the afternoon so after I got my shopping done I got my walk in.
Tomorrow afternoon I have a Social Security Widow Benefits phone interview. I hope it doesn't take too long for them to make a decision. My Mary Kay business is just not making enough money. I am attending a 3 day Real Estate Workshop starting this Friday, curious to find out what this is all about.

It was supposed to snow this afternoon and it didn't happen, I have no idea if it is snowing now and I don't feel like getting up to see if it is now.

Barb....Thank you for the hug :) I am so happy to be seeing the Neurologist this week also! I am glad that Jason worked from home on Friday! I hope you got the presents mailed out. So happy that your mouth is feeling normal now! Terrific that you went out for breakfast in the cruddy weather! Glad the overnight snow didn't arrive.

Darlene..... Awesome, I am happy that your dogs like the Christmas lights as well! That is too cool there is a set up like that in a Northglenn neighborhood in his backyard, Shadow absolutely loved seeing the Christmas decorations up close. Awesome that you had a great time with Pickleball! I sure would hope in 3 hours time that you would get some rest.

Jules.....Thank you the brain fog and spacing out was horrible. I am now tapering off the Cymbalta, I will be tapering off the Gabapentin when I see the Neurologist. You are a part of the family now :)

Jules, my actual play time at pickleball is anywhere between 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours, depending on how many are there. Most of the time lately there has been at least 10 minutes between games, but this week there wasn't much break between games at all. Then after about 10:30 a lot of the people leave so there isn't much wait between games at all. I just try to estimate based on how long between games and how many games I get played (and sometimes how long a game goes). I might have it figured too long sometimes, so I have figured lower calories burned than what it says on websites about the game (they say around 350/half hour for my size).

We have a cold day, today, but no snow at this point. It's predicted for this afternoon, though. I might get some more of the windows insulated later or else tomorrow. Meanwhile, I think I am going to put on a jacket.

Hope you all have a nice day.

Those clouds sure do keep it colder. I enjoyed the sun today.

I hope that you all get to feeling better.

Amy, I always liked going to see the lights around town. The dogs liked them also. I haven't seen many the last few years. Couldn't spend the gas. Last year my friend and I went to see some. Mostly small displays, but there is one guy who does one in her area that covers his roof, front and back yard. To get to the back you go through an arch of lights. He has 3 or 4 train setups, dolls and stuffed animals in display cases. And on the way out there are cookies and hot chocolate. I hope he has it up this year, too.

Today I really had a great pickleball time. I haven't hit the ball so well since I started. Even against a guy that put a spin on the ball so it did at least a 45 degree turn after it bounced and he could do that either direction, so if you figured it out one direction he'd just send it another direction. Boy, did I wear out, though. I was ready to drop at the end of 3 3/4 hours there (not 3 hours straight play, though. I did have some rest between games)

I just got over I lost count how many days of a very foggy brain, I could not concentrate on anything for long. This is more than likely the effects of being off and getting off the Gabapentin or the sinuses, I have no idea anymore. I have a slight headache, I have found wearing my winter hat keeps the headache from getting too bad. I have an ice compress on my head under the hat right now. I have an appointment with a new neurologist as mine has left the clinic. It is on the 6th in the afternoon to discuss going safely off the gabapentin. Right now I am tapering off the Cymbalta. I am going to look through the list of meds I am on and see if there are any others I can go off of. I rescheduled my sinus scan for the 8th totally forgetting I have a 3 day Real Estate Workshop that weekend, so will have to reschedule that again.

Youngest son and I went out this afternoon for a walk in the open space. I told him that getting exercise will help relieve some of the stress he is going through, after the walk he agreed with that.

I watched the lighting of the tree at the Rockefeller Plaza last night that star at the top of the emoticon is gorgeous. I also watched on TV the lighting of the Denver City and County building absolutely beautiful. This is the first year in 12 years I will not be driving around the neighborhoods looking at Christmas lights as I don't have my little buddy this year, he loved Christmas lights. He liked the Santa Tracker and when I said Santa is in America right now he would run to bed LOL. My little buddy was my fur dog grandbaby:)

The mountains have sure been getting a lot of snow, nothing here but strong wind, They are saying that tomorrow late afternoon snow is to come in and go into Saturday 1-3 inches expected.

Darlene.....It sure didn't feel as warm as they said it was yesterday, it felt warmer today and it is cooler, go figure. It seems that the window film is getting harder and harder to get on anymore.

Barb......Awesome that you did not have another dental appointment today! I am glad that your tooth is feeling better. I hope the weather people are wrong about the weather out your way. I have though of having a glass of wine at times when making out Christmas cards LOL. Kicking back enjoying Friday Eve!

Jules...….Thank you, I am finally feeling better.Turkey soup sounds so good. True, you could paint the chair pink :) I got the winterizing done last month so I would have to do it in the cold. The ripple cloud break does sound like it would be beautiful.

Hi everyone :)

emoticon yes, so enjoying the turkey leftovers! made a big batch of soup (prepackaged ingredients with tons of salt) for hubby but my feet don't like it. hope to use the pan liquids to make some salt free for me but need to pick up some more veggies for it.

Almost tgif!

Darlene - that's some adventures with window coverings... i didn't mean to giggle but that so would happen to me! LOL

it is time to cover our outdoor plumbing and winterize things... our weekend project... if we can dodge the cat & dog downpours long enough. it has been sooooo grey these days.... we have a ripple cloud break today - it looks like the ripples in the sand when the tide is going out, kind of pretty but I am looking forward to spring when I can exercise outdoors regularly again... I found a nice porch chair for my wish list while I was browsing the black friday sales! It might be a splurge reward some day... they don't come in pink, but i could paint it, yes? (smiles)

ok, back to work! Hope you're all having a good day!

Barb - hope that tooth heals up!
Amy - hope you're feeling better & rested! Thinking of you!

cheers, jules

Thursday – well, no dental appointment this morning! Wahoo. What shall I do with the extra time!

Got snow overnight and still flurrying. The weekend is supposed to be wretched. HOPE they’re wrong!

Starting on the Christmas cards today. Better have a glass of wine! LOL That’s what Mom would do – sip @ a small glass of wine as she did cards.

Tooth feeling a little better today! Still being very cautious about what I eat.

Ok, let’s enjoy Friday EVE!

Darlene: Good luck w/the window coverings and I hope things work out for you to do your painting as you'd like it!

It was cloudy all day today. I was trying to put up the plastic window film and pretty much made a mess of it. It was folded and I didn't realize it, so it wasn't fitting across the window too well. I finally figured that out, but couldn't cut it and had to go get a new utility knife, which I can't get open to get the blade in. Well, I'll work on it some more. The film also won't stick to the tape very well, so I had to get some other tape to put over it to hold it on. Don't remember having that trouble before. I also have some tape I thought was like weatherstripping, but it is double sided, so wasn't what I was thinking. I'll have to look and see if I have weatherstripping that will work.

I figured out today that I can't do much to start the painting I want to do for my neighbors yet. I can do the sketch part, but need odor-free paint remover/thinner for the painting and can't afford it yet. Hope it will dry in time. I do oils. I can't afford to do acrylics cause I can't afford to get the tubes. I would just have to use the craft paints. Don't know how those would work.

Hope you warm up some.

Wednesday – shades of déjà vu – dentist this morning for part 2 of the root canal. **SIGH** Early Christmas present, I guess.

Cold, cold, cold, cold, cold. BRRRrrrrr. Have to move quickly not to freeze in place just getting the mail!

Otherwise, after I get home from the dentist, am going to relax a little!

HUGS and have a wonderful Wednesday!

We had some sun today -- for a couple hours. When I got out after pickleball it was heavily cloudy and didn't feel anything close to the 51 they said it was. I got some window film to put up on the windows that don't have it yet. There is just too much cold that comes through the windows. It probably won't be enough, even if I find what was left from last time, too, but I can get some of them covered. Then I'll see what else I can do.

The exercise classes I started taking are really needed. I have missed a couple weeks worth and today was really feeling weak at pickleball and then my back started hurting. That hasn't happened for a while. I have learned my lesson.

I just saw something on Facebook from an Herb some kind of sight. It was on Teas to help for certain things. I thought of Amy and her sinus infection. The recommendation for sinus infections was Turmeric Ginger Tea.

I found that my printer problem was from one of the cords. I didn't see if it was the extension or the surge protector, but plugged it in to another set I had. I am sure thankful that it will turn on now.

Yesterday I got some stew meat from the closeout at the store and started some stew. Today I added the potato, carrot and tomatoes. That turned out really good and didn't cost me much at all. Maybe $3.25 total.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Monday – Well we ended up w/just a dusting, BUT areas south of us are getting slammed w/8-15 in. of the white stuff, blizzard warning. So, seems like the roads Jas would need to travel are snow packed. That means Jas is working from home. THAT is good.

Hugs and stay safe. Have a good Monday.

emoticon meds just scare the bejeebers out of me! the docs are really pushing the statins b/c of the diabetes - that it as protective effects for kidneys and cardiovascular benefits including improving cholesterol/placque buildup... the 1 doc wants to quadruple it... scares me.... I am trying a small increase instead after pcp said I could go back off if #s go low enough but it's hard to get that low... so my next big focus is eating helpful for cholesterol.... thinking that means more freggies and the kind of fiber that helps lower cholesterol.... can we say oatmeal and beans/legumes & things? will have to read up!

emoticon tried to cyber-shop, didn't find a thing on my list... on Black Friday, did pick up a pretty pocket calendar for 2019... it has 2 pockets for each month - it suggests coupons, receipts, bills... pffft, what fun is that??? think I"ll use it for 2019 NSV's, gratitude, happydances, motivations & celebrations ~ funner!

Well, need to scooch - much to do today - Happy Monday everyone! cheers, jules :)

We had a great Thanksgiving yesterday at my friend's. All the usual treats, plus celebrating three birthdays that run close to Thanksgiving.

Yesterday we had sun, wind, rain, and snow. The wind, rain and snow had stopped by the time I came home, then the wind started up really bad about an hour later. Then the power went out for a few hours, I think. I ended up falling asleep before it came back on. I didn't have any flashlights that would work and was using my cell phone to see where I was going (just the phone - don't have the flashlight app on mine). I finally remembered some tap lights I have and found 2 of them. Today I had a friend help me get the two other lights I found opened so I could get batteries in them. So now I have something in case the power goes out for a 3rd time this month. This was the 2nd time in just over a week.

Amy, be careful going off the gabapentin. I knew for sure it was that that caused the stroke symptoms because my Doctor would look things like that up and verify that the side effects were being told correctly. Had a problem with a statin, too, after her attending (boss) said there were no side effects. I could barely walk by the end of the week I started taking it and could barely get my jeans on. She allowed me to get off it right away. It actually took almost a month to get that cleared up. But sometimes dropping something will cause worse problems and I wouldn't want that to happen.

Those nails are nice and festive.

It snowed sometime in the night, I was surprised to open the door and see about a half inch of snow. I am not feeling so hot today, I still did my ST and my morning walk. I have slept most of the morning. The cats love having the cuddle time :) I have to call and reschedule my sinus ST Scan tomorrow. I was hoping to get caught up in Spark yesterday but didn't get it all done and really doubt I will today. I have been awake for an hour and already just want to lie down again. Which I am going to do now, I will be back later.

Sunday – Rain changing to snow. ACK

Had a nice breakfast yesterday morning. That was a treat!

Today I guess I’ll be in charge of making the hot cocoa for Jas as he shovels.

HUGS and blessings.

Jules: Yes, definitely do google cognitive behavioral therapy. Basically in a nutshell, it’s about changing your thought processes.

Have a great Sunday, ladies!

Happy Dances for articles Barb!!! Woot!!! Your holiday activities/weekend sound lovely :)

Amy - beautiful nails! Fun!!! that Gaba & other brain drugs seem to take time to build up and time to decrease - imagine the brain might feel a bit wonky for a bit!!!

emoticon pain management idea new2me... hey, I don't know anything about this but I was reading an intro to a book yesterday and it mentioned some research/studies have shown that CBT (cognitive behaviorial therapy?) can help with pain management. Absolutely no further information beyond that statement so I have no idea what that means, except it may be a possibility to explore... I haven't even googled yet... just mentioning...

on the run and need to scooch, lunch is about over and have much to do! Happy, r&r Sunday everyone! jules :)

Saturday – Had a productive day. FINISHED MY ARTICLES! Doing the major happy dance about that.

Had leftovers last night and one more round tonight. Was so glad that the kids liked the food! Shoulda gotten a bigger turkey. Now I know.

Raining out, and ugly. Sheesh!

Otherwise it’s Saturday, so that means . . . breakfast date! Hurray!

Hugs and enjoy Saturday.

Darlene: Hope you find something that helps with your pain.

Jules: Glad that staying carb focused is helping you.

Wow, I didn’t venture out to shop @ all yesterday!

Amy: Oh boy. Looks like it’s going to be a battle to get off the Gabapentin.

Wish you luck!!!

Love the manicure!

Saturday:

We are having a warm day with cold wind. The wind seems to have stopped for the time being. It is lightly raining now. The mountains are getting pummeled with snow and it is going to blow over us and dump snow on the Midwest tomorrow. I am taking a much needed rest day, I put my PJ's on after I got back from my morning walk. I am hoping that I can get caught up here on Spark today. I didn't do Black Friday shopping, I have only done it once in my life and I absolutely hated people's behavior! I did treated myself to getting my nails done and getting my bangs trimmed up. I got in touch with the Dr. and she told me to stay on the gabapentin like he!! I will!

Darlene......I have had stroke like symptoms and epileptic effects not realizing what was causing it until now. I haven't tried infared light therapy. I have been taught reliving pain through mediation, I have that monkey mind, my mind is always jumping around. I am told to just let them come and go, however it is hard to meditate this way. I really do believe in mind over body as I used to be able to do it. How nice of your cousin to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving!

Success......I haven't heard of Topricin cream.

Barb …..That is a great Thanksgiving dinner, it is nice to not have not much leftovers. How adorable Rylund singing songs :) My Thanksgiving meal turned out great! I really need the class and the rehab.

Jules..... So happy that you had a good Thanksgiving! If you Diabetes class is close to what is offered here you will get answers to your questions. My BS numbers are crazy right now but that is because of my sinus infection. You will also learn about food in relation to BS if the class is similar to mine. That Blue Emu was a joke did absolutely nothing. Capsaicin cream actually gives me 1st degree burns.

My brain has felt weird for years, I have been taking the gabapentin for years, being off of it for 2 days my brain was really whacking out. Exactly the side effects are not worth taking it. The brain altering drugs are scary! I tapered myself off of Abilify because it was messing with my brain also. Tens units haven't helped me. I am really trying to focus on mind control through meditation for pain relief. Mind over matter does work, I used to be able to do it, which makes it all that more irritating. I am grateful for the Spark Trackers and recipe calculator also

Darlene - no wonder she wants to nuzzle you! I always wanted a horse - they do live a long time, eh?

emoticon well, I'll just say again, it is nice to find people here, actively chatting...

we have a few diabetics in our family but they all totally dive into treats & eats...

it is a real change in my thinking to stay carb focused to ranges... and is helping... I was so mystified yesterday morning to have my fbs# pop up after I had not even overeaten carbs... so salt/stress/fatigue and less exercise (especially less exercise) must be part of why it popped back up.

It was back down to usual this morning... and am back on regular day eating/exercise routine...

we don't shop/buy a lot... the trip we made yesterday was madness - there were mounds & piles and tables full of socks - crazy people digging through them... We beelined for fresh slippers for me & hubby and had to pick up some printer paper... and snagged a 2019 calendar then did a self-checkout at the grocery... got lucky to snag a register right away because the regular registers lines were long... the $ save always helps but the store jamups are so not fun.... people are so cranky! LOL

ok, hope the weekend is good, long & nice! ttyl, jules :)

All your Thanksgiving with families sounds so nice.

I have tried the capsacin rubs, but didn't get any help from them. The infra red light helped some, but it didn't last very long. Probably would have done more if I'd been able to continue, but I don't know. The vicodin helped when I took it. I only took it when I absolutely needed it, though. I wasn't on a schedule. It was 6 hour minimum between doses, but I didn't even take it even every 24 hours.

Yes, Fancy is a horse. I got her as a yearling. She is now 33 years old.

Yes yes yes salt and fatigue definitely hikes up the cortisol in our system which hikes up the blood sugar. I found salt a harder habit to ditch than sugar!

Awwww, yes they are so much fun @ that age, and the best part . . . you get to spoil them and they go home w/Mom and Dad! HEE HEE

Hope you have a good Friday!

emoticon Hi Everyone :)

Sounds like we all survived Thanksgiving! Ours was yummy too but visiting with the kids was the best... 1 of my nephews is thinking he & girlfriend see a future together and will be living in our area - so made my heart happy... The other teen/senior in HS is back to talking with us older folks instead of acting like he wanted to be elsewhere! The 3 year old was not shy and very active playing with everyone! and the little 1 1/2 yr old girl who looks like Cindy Lou in Whosville was darling cute too - it just all made my heart clap!

emoticon i'd like to take the diabetes class at our clinic - even if it just gives me someone to ask/talk too... swear, the bs# still mystefies me... This morning, I had my highest fasting bs# in weeks, and really did not over-indulge carbs yesterday. Maybe the fatigue and extra salt... I just don't know... I didn't track Thanksgiving dinner but my mouth sure did the salty yippy skippy! we don't add salt at home when we cook, I forget how much people tend to add until I eat other people's foods!

emoticon Barb - Rylund singing - how cute! our little guy is Ronin... aren't they fun! Glad you enjoyed the day! You sound so organized... yay you!

Success - haven't heard of that, will google...

emoticon my hubby bought/tried Blu Emu (topical pain relief)... the guys in the tv ad sound so convincing... he was so disappointed.

prescription topical pain relief - our doctor recommended a prescription crème but our insurance won't pay for it... they offered to pay for a capsaicin topical cream. We haven't tried that yet.

emoticon Amy, speaking of pain and meds... Gabapentin - my hubby hated the way it made his brain feel and ditched it... said it did cut/eliminate the pain in his legs.... but it really significantly had side effects he couldn't stand... and it seems to be the go to thing at our clinic for pain... doc said nothing else to try...

I was wondering about a tens unit... and darn, regular pain meds are off the table now... it is just so frustrating... I hope they figure something out soon... I don't think they have enough experience/data on these really strong brain changing drugs.... I find them scary...

The Sp tracker report is amazing - think the link is at the bottom below the food each day... I don't usually print off but sometimes when I want to show the nutritionist. I also track a few additional things which show on the report (like sodium, fiber, cholesterol...) so way cool!

I have browsed online for a new food/journal paper tracker - and have not hit on anything ideal.... I like the paper journaling and have been using the Biggest Loser spiral bound one but they are finally about not available anymore... ok, I"m rambling... but I also have a big stack of diabetes recipes/books from mom... and you know... I find a few here and there but do not have a go to one like my betty crocker cookbook we received when we got married! I am so glad we have the sp tracker & recipe calculator... helps me understand where I tend to feast! LOL ;)

emoticon Darlene - did the infrared therapy help? Is fancy a horse? Sounds like a nice day home today, relaxing! My fav thing to do! Better safe than sorry on that turkey! Hope your smoked one is delish! Looks like we won't do ours until Mon or Tues next week, still not sure.... Hubby ended up having to work this weekend, so we will do ours at home when he's off next week...

emoticon ok, need to scooch, much to do! Have a great weekend! jules :)

Friday – Had a wonderful time w/the family yesterday. Not many leftovers. Did send the kids home w/a “care package”

Had turkey, dressing, green bean casserole, cranberries, olives, sweet potatoes, biscuits and DIL brought mashed potatoes, greens, deviled eggs and a cake. Had a pumpkin pie, too, but everyone was more interested in the cake, which is fine! Oh and we had a spinach salad. NO shortage of food! It was just fun and laughs having them here. Rylund sang a few songs he learned in kindergarten. Adorable (of course, right!?!)

Today is a chill day and getting the house back in order.

HUGS

Dagnabit! My post from 11-22 disappeared! GRRRrrrr.

Amy: Glad that you are feeling better. Probably a good idea to talk w/the Dr. about getting onto another medication.

Darlene: Sorry about the turkey!

So glad you got to see Fancy today. And that’s cute that she has a donkey friend.

Nice you got e-mail wishing you Happy Thanksgiving.

Amy: good if you take that Diabetes: Take Charge class. The more we learn the better we can take care of ourselves.

Yes, exercise is a very vital component for controlling the blood sugar.

Good for you participating in pulmonary rehab as well.

Hope your Thanksgiving meal turned out well.

Yes, I have packages that have to be mailed. Got the prezzies, now have to wrap and mail them!!!

Amy, I don't find it odd for someone to get some recipes to try from the books at the library. That is the only way I can do it. I cannot afford to go out and get all those books. I will be lucky if I find one that I can afford. When I was first diagnosed I got several books with recipes for diabetes. I haven't used them. I've gone through looking at the recipes and they all have too many carbs for me to like.

The neuropathy spray has "nerve" in the name of it. I wish I could remember it. Maybe Nerve Pain Away. I haven't tried it, so don't know if it works. (Well, reading online it says expensive and some places don't recommend) With the gabapentin (mine was Neurontin) I was told that it had no side effects by one doctor. That is what the drug company told them. She was in shock when I told her fatigue was one of the side effects. That one didn't bother me, though. It was when I had all the symptoms of a stroke that it freaked me out. I'm glad I didn't have to wean off of it.

Have you tried infrared light therapy? I had that for a while until after the podiatrist retired and the new one just wanted to do surgeries for everything (like amputations). Dr. Carnegie used the infrared light after seeing it do some amazing things that a dentist had used it for. He had several patients on it and I was referred to him for my neuropathy.

I am sitting at home today, just enjoying whatever I can find on TV. Got a text from my cousin who I rarely hear from wishing me a Happy Thanksgiving. (I rarely hear from any of them. Only when I contact them.) So that was nice.

Hope everyone is having a HAPPY THANKSGIVING.

Just got settled in from the store run and it was absolutely a zoo! I did get everything that I needed. It sure would be nice to find alternatives for relief from my neuropathy. I did not like the way my brain felt it was not a good feeling at all. I have here and there had this same thing but never thought it was the gabapentin as the cause of it all. I am definitely going to wean off of it, I do not want whatever it is doing anymore. I am going to check into massage, acupuncture and I want to check out dry needling. Is the spray called BioFreeze? It doesn't help at all. I am actually feeling really good right now.

I wanted to take this class that my medical clinic does it I called, Diabetes: Take Charge! It is a 4 hour class that is split up into 2 classes the first was yesterday next one is next Tuesday. We discussed the glucometer and when to take readings. Most of the class was discussing how many carbs to eat a day for women it is 30g and men it is 45g per meal. Make sure that you are reading the total carbohydrate on nutrition labels. We played around making plates of foods that would equal 30 carbs. It was easier than I thought it would be. However there is more to learn next week in the nutrition category. We also discussed the importance of exercise. People have been known to drop 40-100 mg/dl off of the blood sugar after exercising. We have homework, to tack out meals for 4 days this week. I already do this thankfully. I just have to figure out how to print each days reports out.

I am going to be beginning Pulmonary Rehab it is a 10 week program I do believe, on December 4th it is every Tuesday and Thursday. My first half of the class is exercise and the 2nd half is classroom learning. I am hoping that keeping myself busy outside of the house will help keep me active instead of napping.

I am cooking the dinner tomorrow because I am just so awesome at it, my oldest son Bryce also cooks an awesome meal, my youngest son is good with the sides but hasn't figured out cooking the bird quite yet.

Darlene....Sorry you had a bout of gas, I hope by now it is gone.
I wish so much that I could take Ibuprofen because it also helps reduce the inflammation. It is very bad for my kidney's. Acetaminophen works maybe 2% of the time. So glad you were able to visit Fancy today! Nice to hear that she has a friend :) What is Cushing Disease? Maybe a new cord for your printer will help.
That is horrible with the turkey smelling.

Barb......I am glad that Jas is home with you too! I am glad I didn't fall as well, it was so crazy. Awesome that you are done with the Christmas Shopping! Keep warm!

Jules......I love your turkey too. LOL how many books are there to thin down to 1 or 2. My Diabetes Instruction had mentioned going to the library and the book store taking pictures of recipes she would like to try. If there were quite a few in a book then she would buy that book, LOL.
I know right? I am serious that is what she told me. I agree is totally absurd!

Have a great night of getting some of the things cooked tonight. I am also going to try a rose gold hair dye tonight.

Amy, I hope you can find some help for your neuropathy. I had to stop taking the gabapentin for mine because of side effects after a while. I have tried a couple other things but can't remember what they were. I have seen recently a spray that is something like no more nerve pain. just supposed to stop pain from things like neuropathy.

My problems continued some today. I started to get my turkey ready to cook and it smelled terrible, so had to throw it out. I did get my Thanksgiving box from the food pantry today, so that is good. Didn't have any meat to eat for lunch or supper. Finally decided on a frozen pizza for tonight and it will last a few meals. Turkey needs a few days to thaw, then prepped for smoking. Meanwhile Saturday I will have some smoked turkey at my friends' and get some chicken out of the freezer.

Went out to see Fancy today. She looks pretty good for 33 years old and with cushings disease. She is happy with her donkey friend Jack. Got her brushed a bit and took a few pictures, which was difficult since she kept following me closely and sticking her nose in my face.

I am finally starting to feel like a human again rather than mindless blob of pain for the last couple of days. I went to get my Gabapentin refilled but the insurance was saying it was too soon to fill it. I take the Gabapentin for my neuropathy pain. I took two days to get it filled on a medication you are to taper off of I didn't have any for the 2 days, I forgot how bad my neuropathy pain was, ouch! But I was string off into space and jumpy without it. If it was doing that to me it more than likely is not a medication to be taking. I got it filled mostly because I cannot cook Thanksgiving dinner being in that condition. I am going to talk to the Dr. about tapering off of it. Needless to say I didn't get the CT of my sinuses this morning because I couldn't get there. I am go glad that this happened or I would not of been aware of what is doing to me. My sinuses have been great since the mountain trip. I just have the irritating ear ringing that is more than likely what Jules mentioned from taking high doses of Acetaminophen.
I need to take a shower and get to the stores to get what is needed for dinner tomorrow. It is 1:50pm so I best get going for now then I will come back later to chat!

Got my pictures printed by my friend after pickleball today. It turns out the picture I took when Pete was taking Abby for a walk was the best one. She has her head turned just slightly to the side. That one would be great just as a photo except we can't get Pete's toes out of the picture.

Had to take one of the Keto books back today and didn't really get many things out of it in time. Guess I'll have to put it back on hold. I also took the one back that was all slow cooker recipes since I got what I wanted from it. I then went to Natural Grocers to see if they had the plain erythritol so I would know where I could get it. Also got a "Swerve" smooth so I could try some candy. Erythritol was only course. Of course, it didn't make Cassie or Orzo very happy that I was gone so long.

I'm going to try different cords to see if that will help with my printer. First will try an extension cord, then a different surge protector. I hope that will work.

Monday – Well, so glad Jas is home this week! He was uber tired yesterday, so I think another day of rest and he’ll feel better.

Got the turkey thawing. Going to make cranberries today.

Have a great Monday.

HUGS

Amy: Glad you got to go to the volunteer appreciation event. Oh boy, glad you didn’t hurt yourself slippig=ng on the ice!

OH yes, going up and down the mountain, definitely it does change the air pressure in our ears, so it works. I used to go on elevators to try to pop my ears!

Yes, I was very glad when Jas got home! Now he’s off (working from home Mon – Wed, then off for the holidays).

Glad you’re feeling better and the ear ringing stopped. That is so utterly annoying.

Darlene: Glad that the gassiness has gone away a little.

Oh no on the printer problem!!!

Jules: Hope you do get some relaxing time in before the crazies set in. Crazy busy here as well.

LOVE the turkey!!!!! It is adorable!!!

Jules, I like your turkey.

I don't get much help from acetominofren. Have to take ibuprofen instead. Have to go get some, too, because I have all of one left and am going to need it in a little while. Had a light thingy in my eye, which often leads to headaches. Maybe I will be able to skip it this time, though.

I'm having trouble deciding on going to Bennett. I was thinking Wednesday, but that is Thanksgiving food pick-up day. I might still be able to go after. It's supposed to be 60 that day. Tomorrow I would go after pickleball, which will be almost as late as Wednesday, but only 54. I think Friday is supposed to be 57. Saturday colder weather again.

I need to figure out how to get a printer to work. I have it plugged into a circuit breaker or whatever those are called to keep damage from happening to things, but when the electricity went off last week it apparently blew my printer up.

emoticon funny, this weekend I was just browsing books... and daydreaming 2019... as I think about the holiday idea to focus on delish veggies and lean proteins, thought I'd check recipes and found a world of ideas/books to look at... now I need to narrow to like 1 or 2! LOL and imagine i'll surf recipes on the net more...

Amy - yes - qutting smoking, sinuses - both can = headache. I get acetaminophen headaches on high doses too... and withdrawal headaches if I reduce those things or coffee...

--I can NOT believe no pain meds after surgery? What the heck are they thinking??? I just don't get it... it's like a boomerang over-reaction... absurd...

well, before I rant about absurdities... going to take a deep deep breath and relax! headed out in a few minutes and this starts our crazy busy week... Hope you all have a wonderful week ahead... jules :)

I've been laying around all day, but I don't have as bad a gas attack as it was yesterday. It has come and gone a few times. So going through the recipes in those books I got from the library and copying those I want to try. Haven't been on the computer until maybe a half hour ago. That's unusual for me.

Went to my volunteer appreciation event yesterday at a very nice event hall a little ways into the mountains in Genesee, Colorado. It was nice getting together with everyone and socialize for a bit. When getting out of the car I put one foot on the ground and it just slid, it was a fun walk in the parking lot, I joked that they didn't tell me I would need ice skates, LOL. There was never any ice here where I live. Yesterday was just such a busy day. Today I have been so tired I got my exercise in early this morning then have been sleeping off and on all day, thankfully no headache this weekend and my ear ringing stopped after going up and down in elevation it made my ears pop, guess that helped relieve the pressure in my ears?

Barb......Thank you, it does suck not getting any help for this! Glad you only got inches of snow not bad at all. Glad the living room is done. Wow, getting home at 2am, glad Jas I home safe.

Jules....Actually I am taking high doses of Acetaminophen as this all I can take (so ridiculous) 2 tablets don't work, heck even 6 at a time don't work. Maybe the headache is a cross between the sinuses and quitting smoking and acetaminophen. LOL, well can't say I have bad breath :) I took notes when I was taking the nutrition class and that was only a part one class it was free but would have to pay to take the 2nd part. I am thinking to myself good grief there is more it was a 6 week course and a online class session once a week for 2 hours. There is a free Zumba class at my clubhouse Monday-Thursday. It is too high intensity for me I would have a hard time getting my breath back. It sure does look like fun though. It is more fun when it is game like.

I am feeling better no headache all weekend and my ear ringing stopped Saturday after going up to the mountains. Yeah do ask about the Alpha Lipoic Acid at your hubby's Dr. visit, Heck my Dr. told me that they don't prescribe pain meds for broken bones or surgery here anymore!

Darlene.... I didn't even think it got out of the 40's on Friday. Sorry you weren't able to go see Fancy, but glad you were able to get food for Orzo and Cassie. We a supposedly supposed to have warm weather all this week.
Oh dear, I hope the gas goes away soon, it is so painful! A soak in the tub may help.

Have a great rest of your Sunday evening!

Sunday – Jas got home about 2 am. YIKES! So I think we’ll probably go to breakfast on Monday since he’ll be HOME!!!

Blessings on your Sunday. HUGS

Darlene: Hope you’re feeling better!

Jules: It is hard to give up a favored food, but for sure when you think about it as you have and put it in perspective, the largest part of it is indeeed emotional.

And YES it’s the same w/sugar/carbs. With type 2 it just isn’t good for our bodies. Hard to wrap the brain around, but have to learn to let it go and replace it w/healthier options. Easier said than done for sure!

emoticon that's so encouraging Barb!

awhile back, I had adult onset allergic reaction to crab, severe... doc said if I kept eating it despite the reaction... well, I could die... think violent allergic reaction to bee sting. kinda that way for me with crab. I adored crab. I had to give it up, because it hurt me. I grieved for the crab, and eventually accepted that I just can't eat it.... because it hurts me. putting my hand on a red hot stove is a lot like that too... I wouldn't do it, and I never ever grieved not burning my hand!!! LOL - so part of it is perspective... part of it is so emotional - from cultural expectations, especially in this day and age to gorge ourselves like every day, every meal, every treat is a feast! the tv ads are incessant and I was looking at the holiday ads that came in the mail today. full of holiday sugar...

emoticon overeating sugar/carbs hurts me. is what it is... working to accept that.... making progress... but it hasn't come easy, it's something that churns over in my mind until I get things resolved and released... this holiday feasting is kinda 1 of those "things I loved" that I am releasing to embrace better, healthier, happier... for me... and that's a good thing :)

This afternoon I started getting gas really bad. Now I am in such bad shape I can't sit, can't stand, can't eat. I don't know what caused it. I've already taken 6 ultra Gas-X and no help. I'm waiting for time to take Cassie outside so that I can try soaking in a hot tub and see if that will help.

Got info today that we are having Thanksgiving on Saturday, so I will fix a little something here for Thursday. I think my turkey will be thawed before then.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. It's supposed to snow overnight tonight.

My dear I went thru that for 2 yrsl I just found on my own that it wasn’t worth feeling lousy (and I did) overeating carbs.

I concentrate on the proteins and complex carbs (veggies primarily) and am satisfied w/that. I try one or two bites of pumpkin pie (not the crust, just the filling) but no more than that. Again, I just found that that icky feeling just isn’t worth it!

And yes, between nutrition and exercise I got off my statins, and Metformin. No meds for Diabetes now. It's possible!!!!

Oh winter has arrived here even though it’s ot even on the calendar yet! ACK!

emoticon Hi everyone! Have a chance to chat over lunch! Good to see everyone :)

Barb, so waycool you were able to get off the statins! thanks for the encouragement! yes, saw a nutritionist and they gave me the thumbs up on combining SP tracker with a myplate design... I find the info from them equivalent to SP articles - SP has such gr8 info!

I have kind of been asking the question many places the last few weeks as I ponder the holidays... what I haven't seen anywhere really was an article on how to handle carbs and the typical feast overeating (beyond recipe updates.) a few years ago, I adjusted my approach to what I felt was reasonable for me, but that was majorily eating my fav holiday carb dishes...

Now... I am trying to balance those favs with the reality of diabetes... I could just ignore the diabetes for a feast meal but am thinking that would hurt my insides, so is there a way to eat that would be just as delicious and just as emotionally satisfying... I think so... and feel really good about it now...

I posted that question here and also on the SP diet nutrition board. SP coach Becky posted some guidelines that I thought were really helpful and some people have posted various yummilicious ideas... so I'm looking forward to trying some of these strategies and foods in the coming years! kind of fun/excited to explore it :)

emoticon snow? brrrrr… not here, not yet... :::knocks on wood!!!:::

Darlene - glad you were able to stock up on the pet food before bad weather! relief! the land Zumba is still a bit much for me... I have been doing a little chair Zumba. we moved away from the pool that had water Zumba, it was awesome!

Amy, how are you feeling? better I hope! sinus/headaches are no fun! thanks for all the nutrition info! We're going to ask doc about the alpha lipoic acid for hubby... I just hadn't heard that, and they just don't prescribe pain meds except for like surgeries, here, anymore...

Have a good weekend! jules :)

That bad weather forecast got me a bit upset today. They were still saying a high around 60 at 3:00 and it hadn't gotten over 50 as far as I know. Did get a little sun about 4:15 or so. A little late for going to Bennett. I should have gone after getting the feed on Wednesday. Too cold to stay out there with only light weight jackets, even though I had two and a sweater on. My heavier jacket is too bulky to wear anywhere like in the truck or even to another building.

I did get Cassie's and Orzo's food this morning. Got more canned for Orzo than last time because I told them he is eating it 3 times a day and not very much of the dry. Cassie got both dry and canned. With the vegetables she has to have and maybe a mix of the canned and dry I think maybe hers will last for the 2 months coming up.

I hope there is some warm weather next week, maybe Wednesday or Saturday.

Jules, I do Zumba Gold on Friday mornings when I can afford to get over there. It's a little easier to follow than the Zumba I was doing a few years ago that I couldn't keep up with. I did have fun even when I couldn't keep up. I wish they had it at the closest recreation center, but nobody showed up for it there.

I had a really severe headache, faceache, along with the loud ear ringing. I can chat with a Dr. on their website from 7am-10pm, so I began chat at 7:05am. The Dr. I have says you will need to see your Dr. and I say I have been seeing her for this for a couple of months, I just need the pain to stop. He transfers me to an appointment setter without telling me so. So I got an appointment with my Dr. at 3:40 in the afternoon. She gives me nothing for the pain she said we need the results from the CT Scan first, which isn't until Wednesday morning. After staying awake all day when I got home I went to bed and stayed there until about 9 and 10 minutes later went back to lie down. I am feeling better today the headache is a slight one, I am beginning to think the ear ringing will be there forever.

I have all of my medical appointments made, but one. Usually I sit on then for a week before making the appointment. It is a totally different day than the one the weather people forecasted, it was supposed to be sunny and in the 60's. It is overcast with a chilly wind it was 49 when I got home 45 minutes ago. Snowstorm is coming in for tomorrow we are not getting much 1-4 inches. I was out running errands and I just wanted to come home to rest a little now I don't feel at all like going back out to get a little groceries.

Jules.... Oh ok, I have only known it as a pressure cooker. My mom uses hers a lot, I used it a couple of times and it scared me so much. It does reduce the cooking time for sure, I think it just hates me , LOL.
It is strange how gas prices are, there is an intersection with gas station on the NE and SE corner and one on the NW corner. The NE and SE ones are always the same price the one on the NW corner is always 10 cents more than the other two. Go figure. I never never read or heard of the book. I took Cinnamon Capsules but I stopped because I wasn't too sure if good to take it with Diabetes. When I burped it smelled like cinnamon, LOL. LOL with the apples, well because they are good for you and it keeps the Dr.'s away, if only, sigh.

You get tested for Diabetes every 90 days, Cholesterol Screenings once a year. I love cheese too which sucks because I can't have it much because my blood calcium is high. I took a couple of nutrition classes and I am still so very confused, LOL.

Great that you are having your feast at your brother's. I am now curious how pumpkin soup would be. I jut don't like the pumpkin things because they are all sweet. Doubt the soup would be sweet. I love Butternut Squash Soup.

Barb....Sorry that your allergies are acting up. Yes the Apple watch is helping me with my health goals, it also does my heart rate that I need to keep track of since it is high. I'd imagine that the air quality is horrible since fights are being delayed. I am so happy that the alpha lipoic acid is helping with the neuropathy. Thank you I hope relief comes soon.

Oh so good to hear that Jas made it safely. It is crazy how fast this week went!

Dalene....Good that is what I had thought. Wow $2.25 I low, I got gas this morning up here and it was $2.49 after my 10 cent Kings discount. The Conoco station by my son's work is always 50 cents more than it is up here. My feet are numb and there are days here and there I can't feel my legs from my knee down, including my feet. The Turmeric helps with arthritis if so I need to take it for my knees and shoulders. I hope that you got the cat and dog food today and got to visit and brush Fancy. I am not looking forward to the Saturday snow either I only get excited about snow if it is going to be a foot or more and blizzards.

Have a great Friday!

We're still supposed to have a warm (60), sunny day tomorrow. Snow isn't supposed to hit until about noon Saturday, the last I heard.

The gas prices are definitely strange around here, with even places across the street from each other or one block down having about a twenty cent a gallon difference. I am glad it is going down in price here. Hope your's goes down soon, too.

I've been trying to take different exercise classes on top of the pickleball I play. So far I haven't lost any weight, even when I have been eating right, but I can at least wear one pair of my jeans. They were really tight before I had played pickleball for a few months. I am hoping that the newer classes wil help me lose some, too.

Hope everyone has a great rest of the week.
