A 14.5 oz can of green beans has 14 grams, and 7 are from fiber ( 7 NET ). As you move out of Induction, you could have macadamia nuts ( 2 ozs. ) 8 grams - 4 fiber = 4 NET. Or raspberries ( 3 ozs ) 9.8 grams - 5.8 g fiber = 4 NET carbs.

Those 3 items get you 31.8 grams - 16.8 fiber.. or just 15 NET carbs. One good thing about fiber is that it lets you eat more carbs. So if you were at 30 NET carbs for the day, you still have another 15, and could have some cheese, eggs, and other veggies, without going over that 30 NET goal.

I wouldn't eat all of these on 1 day, but I tend to eat 1-2 of them every day just to nudge my fiber over 10. The only reason for such low fiber is that I am eating around 35 total carbs, so around 20 NET.

You might want to add a snack with fiber daily, like the berries, or nuts, but I wouldn't sweat it. You will get more fiber as you increase carbs from all the vegetables you will eat. I just used the tracker to look at every kind of food, and picked several with decent amounts of fiber that were not heavy in carbs.

Thanks for that reply. I am at 60 to 70 fat and my fiber is only 5 or 6 grams. I don't have any issues with being regular. I didn't realize that it was the fat that was helping with that. Blood sugar is under control and I'm looking forward to coming off Metformin. Hopefully as more weight comes off. It's interesting one of the members commented because of the high fat that they didn't worry about fiber and I just didn't put together that was why. Amazing how much I still don't understand about all of this. But finally this way of eating is working for me. Understand it or not. It's working. Highfat - Low Carb. Blood work comes back next week. Can't wait to see it.

I find that berries, nuts, and green beans give me more protein. Today I am eating 52 grams of carbs, and 20 are from fiber. That is enough fiber for me. I think fiber is only needed to keep you regular, and if you eat over 60 % fat, that you will be regular, even if fiber intake is 5 g a day.

Since I have trouble with most of the vegetables, I have Benefiber (actually, a brand like it). I can only take 1/4 teaspoon, though. I can eat a few veggies, but not many and not much at a time.

On the low-carb/high-fat diet I am eating eating high fiber is not required. I get all the fiber I need from vegetables, about 5-8 servings/day and nuts. It is easy to use a magnesium supplement (which is a good idea for most people anyhow) that also works as a mild laxative, magnesium citrate.

I will use Metamucil once a day and IF I am having bread in the morning I only eat Thomas English muffins but they are the light ones, they have 100 calories and they only have 26 carbs but they also have 8 grams of fiber so that takes the carbs down to 18 grams. When I eat sandwiches I prefer Martin's WHOLE WHEAT potato bread. 2 slices have4 grams of fiber & 28 grams of carbs but that is about the only carb I get when I have a sandwich except for the fresh spinach and tomato slices I put on my sandwich and I like this bread because it is the only mass produced bread I have found that does not have HFCS plus it clearly states it's made in America.
One of my snacks is the Dannon Diabetic friendly yogurt that I will add 1/2 serving of granola and whatever berry I have in the house.
that brings me to 20 grams a day so then I only need 10 more which will be covered in my afternoon snack which might be an apple and some PB or nuts and I fill in the rest at dinner with my vegetables. I try not to eat a lot of meat or dairy because I also have a fatty liver so dinner tends to be vegetarian.
If I am still short of my fiber I will go ahead and have another Metamucil.

I alternate breakfasts. Fresh fruit and yogurt with 1 Tbs. Flax seed and Fiber 1 original cereal with banana. Once a week I cut up an assortment of fresh fruit, keep in fridge and use for breakfasts and snacks.

I do supplement w/psyllium husks. NOT INULIN. But I also use pumpkin seeds, flax seed, brazil nuts (just 2/day), almonds, pistachios (of course, nuts in moderation).

I have been enjoying a Philippine bran dried young coconut product. I found it at Cosco. It is a little bit sweet but very tasty. I notice when I record an ounce on the tracker, my fiber score always jumps over 25 for the day.

I'm curious how does everyone get in their fiber. When I look at my tracker, I find that I'm not doing a great job of getting in my Fiber. What ways do you use to get in your fiber.
