Yes we in Bangladesh use it as a part of diabetic diet I saw that many have the juice on an empty stomach. It can also be used as part of a party menu as I have had it stuffed with mince

OK thanx Russell

I'm not a fan of junk food, and here in holland the portions junk food is not as large as the us yet!!!!
but they are trying now to make it obliged to use less sugar and salt in fast food aswell as food in genera( in the stores, and packaged foodl..
but still way behind the UK its on the news everyday now, so pointing to larger orgs that make and pack the foods, because the children are getting bigger so its seen as a epidemic ( not sure how to spel that), so hopefully big changes very soon...

But I do not participate as i have never liked to buy ready made foood..I cook from scratch everyday or make a meal for 2 days,..
thanx again Tisha

Standard American Diet. Basically the junk we eat, not what is recommended.

personally, I prefer to eat tastier low carb food, but here is a article on why it works.

Here is the wikipedia page, with pictures of the dish at the bottom.

While I am slightly skeptical, and personally would cut the rice, or sweet potatoes, since that has worked for me ( 4 years no meds ), I like any idea that fixes a dietary disease ( T2 diabetes ), with a change in diet. We too often look for a pill to fix our problems, even though the way we eat caused our diabetes. I still think relying on one food, is not as good as switching how we eat as a whole, but even with brown rice or a sweet potato, it is better than the S.A.D., and should improve blood sugars, as well as because of any improvement from the bitter melon itself.

The solution to diabetes isn't a pill. We aren't meant to take pills. So if this works for you, that is a much better option.

thats cheap more than that for 1 here...
cut down the middle and with a spoon, spoon out the middle then slice it thinly across so its like crecent moon and add to your meat your cooking in oil(not too much a little)
and flavour how you like it goes well with tomato barbecue flavour, i use salt beef and hot peppers and a little black soya sauce with corriander spice and sometimes if its very bitter a little tomato ketchup but that is rarely.. then cook till soft about 10 to 15 minutes..
I eat with rice but is also good with yam or sweet potato...

Never tasted it, but have read several places that it's good for blood sugar control. I know my local markets don't carry it, but there is a new health food store set to open up in the Fall. If it helps YOU then it's worth it!

google bitter melon then your get it..
Its often called dragon veg as its a reptile looking skin..you take out the seeds with a spoon like cucumber and you can slice finely cook in a little oil with salt beef or pork/bacon and i usually eat it with rice, but sweet potato will do also.. i add spices and sometimes a little black soya..
when making the drink you have to take the skin off though....
its bitter and the first time i tried it was too bitter but went back to try it and love it now so dos my daughter she was very young when she tried it...
I'm off to the market this weekend to find a bargain hopefully as its quite expensive here...
Thanks croyle

A few weeks ago i had bitter melon with salt beef and rice.. a meal i used to eat frequently before i was diagnosed diabetic... i tested my bs the next morning it was low for the first time in years..
Last night a girlfriend called me, she is originally from suriname and she started telling me how good bitter melons are for sugar control.. her DH blends the flesh with lemon and water drinks one or two times a week and he's sugar is now in control..

has anyone experienced bitter melon (it is an aquired taste) but so delicious with salted beef...????
