For the last 4 weeks I have lost 1 pound. Slow and steady I know, for me, is the best! There are times however I get impatient and would love to see a 5 pound drop but with my age and the fact that I don't have the will to employ any super strict diet plan I think I will need to be happy with that 1 pound a week loss!

Finally! I'm back to somewhat of a normal routine! I really did not foresee this holiday season being so disruptive. My daily exercise routine suffered the most and I indulged in more sugar than I should have and I am feeling the effects!! I even slipped into soda drinking mode again but am grateful to say I am slowly putting my routine back together and I am feeling much better. emoticon

Hey, just checking in. Haven't been on the forums much due to the holidays, and yes I indulged a-plenty, but tracked "most of" it all. Foot's in a walking boot, and might be getting in an ortho shoe next week - that would be nice. This thing weighs over 2lbs by itself, and goes almost up to my knee, so it's cumbersome & I'm ready for something less clumsy. Anybody else getting back in the swing now that the holidays are done?

Great post! I have been such a slacker when it comes to consistently tracking my food. Must get back to it because it really is the only way to safely include a treat now and then and not let it screw everything up! Sooooooo, this week my goal will be to track daily! Thanks for the motivation!! emoticon emoticon

Still so glad to be tracking fitness & food on SP. I'm actually starting to be surprised at the end of the day when I've allowed myself to indulge in a treat that it doesn't add up to all that much. That's because I've become so much more aware of the proper serving size of everything. And sometimes I talk myself into a piece of fruit FIRST and then if I still want pie or cake or whatever later I can go ahead & enjoy. It's usually a smaller piece by then, if a piece at all. Anymore the first thing I look at on a package of anything is the nutrition label to check out the serving size & calories & fat. Then I decide how much of it I want. It's not about restricting, just being knowledgeable about what your putting inside, isn't it?

Well Thanksgiving's in the bank & we've already turned another calendar page! Happy to say I did just fine over the feasting holiday, thanks to SP tracking. Was able to enjoy what I like but not overdo it. Also very happy to have gotten back in the gym these past couple of weeks. Limited activities there, but I'm getting it done! Rowing machine for cardio (the only thing I can do without bearing weight on my right foot), lying leg lifts/stretching, and some modified barre work. Need to get back on the upper body strenth machines and I'd love to try to do some battleropes, but tricky staying balanced. Thought about doing them while seated or on a stability ball. Depends how brave I get. Don't want to get too crazy, tho. Setbacks are a drag. How is everyone else's workouts going now that we are in the cold?

Aww Thank you That's a supernice thing to tell me. It's so therapeutic just to kind of vent/journal here on SP whether or not anyone else ever reads it. REALLY encouraging when someone responds like u did! Thanks for the encouragement. Now to go buy some turkey, lol. "I'm all about that baste, bout that baste - mo' buttah!" :)

First of all, YESTERTHING, you are such an inspiration to me. I am impressed with your commitment to this process though you have had huge stumbling blocks along the way. How exciting to be that close to your goal weight. So proud of you!!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I am trying to hit my goal weight by Jan. 1st. I've lost about the same as you so far. Gained 15 lbs last winter recuperating from a foot surgery over ALL the food holidays - Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's and Valentine's Day. Then a back surgery in April, and now this last (unrelated) foot surgery. Thanks to SP though, I am tracking calories & not spending all this sedentary time with my foot up mindlessly stuffing calories into my face. I have lots of fruit & veggies to snack on & only drink water or tea. So I have managed to maintain and maybe keep on the downtrend (not really sure, hard to weigh yourself when you're on crutches).

Still working on losing 10 lbs by Christmas day. I am wavering between having lost 5-7 lbs so far. Anyone out there with me?? Breaking down my larger goal into smaller steps has been much more motivating!!

Hi everyone. Just checking in. I joined in September and wasn't as serious about the diet as I should've been. I then fell off the diet and exercise bandwagon after getting a bad sinus infection. Back on the bandwagon as of 10-27. Been a good week so far. Hoping to get in some exercise today!

Congrats on losing a pound a week! I've read that losing a pound a week is the best way to ensure being able to keep it off!! Good luck on your surgery, I hope all goes well! emoticon

I am very happy that with fairly little effort, just a bit more serious about the gym & a bit more aware of what's going in my mouth, I've managed to lose about a pound a week since joining. Gained it last year while recuperating from 2 different surgeries. Now I have another one next Tuesday that will have me off my feet (literally) for 6 weeks. Glad I am on the SP now, though so I won't be soothing myself with mindless calories.

Good Morning Everyone!! It's supposed to be a cool crisp fall day so I will get some yard work done. Yesterday on my way to the mailbox I took pictures of the first 2 trees of fall colors. Brilliant red starts off the fall parade in my yard! Love it!! Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!

Good Morning Everyone! Getting back in the swing of things. I started Spark about 6 years ago and lost 40 pounds. About a year ago I injured my foot and had to have surgery, then my Dad died and then we got a new job in Houston.....gained all my weight back and now have to start over. But that's OK. I know how to do it, just need friends and encouragement to stay the course. Bummer to have gained, but my body type requires an incredible amount of physical activity daily to even maintain, so it's quite a daunting task to lose!!

Looking forward to chatting with everyone! emoticon

Daily check in? Well, yesterday was alright, got two brisk walks in and a bit of bodyweight. Today is renewed stress, and despite my still-sore-ankle (rolled it 5 days ago), I'm probably going to end up running as a stress reliever...

any suggestions for increasing stamina/distance at a slow run? I can run about 0.5k in one stretch if it's down-hill (very shallow grade) but only .25 if it's up said shallow grade. My driveway is 1k long, and I'd like to be able to run both up and down it (and it's uphill both ways) as one of my first fitness goals. :)

I used to be a member of this site 2 years ago. I ended up hurting my back and somehow never logged back on till now. I made a new account so I could relearn the site and re-set my goals. When I looked at my old measurements and what not I was pleasantly surprised that I maintained what weight I lost from the last time I was on here. I feel a lot less discouraged now that I know that I have not gained back all the weight I had lost. Now to just rebuild my good habits.

I'm a bit frustrated today. I am able to exercise and eat right but find my motivation is based upon how I feel about my family. My 17 year old daughter attends an online public school. They are a great program except keeping her on a schedule is a daunting task. My autistic adult son is so sweet and a big help. He loves to do laundry which is a miracle and a blessing. Today my husband doesn't go to work until 2 and that is HARD! Three adults to work around. I prefer it when he has the morning shift because by afternoon I am exhausted.

So far so good. Have done well in the last three days with food. I also chose to walk to work last night. A little rough walking home this morning after working a 12 hour night shift but felt good. Plan to do it again tonight :) Hope to keep up this momentum.

Food at work is THE WORST. I used to fall into that trap. I literally had to walk around the office to avoid it (and one co-worker had a candy dish on a shared cubicle wall! ARG). Try to get something bitter -- bitter lemon hard candy (lo cal of course) and eat one of those when you're tempted!

You CAN do this!!!
