Go na go for a walk today. Then come home have lunch and put my baby down for a nap. Then do some workouts.

Later go to the gym tonight. Give my kids a bath and put them in bed and go to bed myself

I had to get up really early today and take my hubby to work. Then back home and off to work I go, hi ho, hi ho....I just go home from work not to long ago, and now doing a load of laundry. I work tomorrow as well. Wednesday I hope to get in some much needed yard work, hardly been out there all year.

Had a good sleep last night - and am now ready for the day.

No definite plans yet - just a load of laundry I was going to get done yesterday
and a walk in the neighborhood later.

Went to bed at 7:30 last night and did not get up until 7:45 this morning. Had a few hours where I thought about getting up at around 1:30 but did not. Guess I needed the sleep, not that I slept wonderfully but good enough.

We have another car issue with the focus, in the shop for the alternator, steering fluid, brake fluid and coolant; just under $1000. This after spending $5000 +/- on our mustang and the focus in the last couple of months, mostly the mustang. We are looking at it as getting new used cars; we know the owners, how they treated them, etc....But still, way to much money on cars lately. Hope it is done after this.

Wow!! What a great quote, thanks for sharing it with us.

Went for a walk at our Rec center this morning then off to the Doc;s then a bit of running around. What the Doc said/doing is below.

My foot pain is definitely Plantar fasciitis. The Doc gave me Meloxicam for the inflammation. They are also going to look into special orthotics through my insurance and then let me know if and what is covered. Then I will be scheduling another appointment to for measuring and molding my feet for the insoles. He also said that I had peroneal? tendinitis and pinched ligaments or tendons (don't remember what he said for sure) so the orthotics should hopefully help with that too. Other than that, I am to keep icing and stretching. Not going to go to PT cause I cannot take that much time off of work. I am going to google some more exercises for it and do them on my own.

Anyhow......This too shall pass

today was a good day. kindof was. We were suppose to ride our bikes today, but the weather turned. So we went to walmart to get some stuff for dinners for the week. then came home and lunch. Then i did the dishes

After all that we took the kids to the carousal. it was fun. Glad we had a nice family outing. We need that.

This is what i read from my bible app

Obedince to jesus christ is essential. But not compulsory; he never insists on being master. We feel that if only he would insist, we should obey him. But our lord never enforces his "THou Shalts" and "Thou Salts Nots": He never take means to force us to do what he says.-Oswald Chanbeer (1974-1917)

Sounds like a busy day Danae. Hope you had some fun at your friends.

I spent the morning yesterday making some black bean burgers and fudge float to take to a friends house. Then my hubby and I watched our 4th of July movie. Then we went to our friends house and had a blast for the afternoon and evening. We skipped the firework show at the park and came home at around 9:45, I watched them from my front window.

Today I was at work all day, just got home a short time ago. Now I have to get dinner ready. I have the next 4 days off, YEAH!!!

Have a great evening all.

Barb, I am happy to hear that they have a strong male influence in their lives, one that they can count on. But what kind of a man does not want to be in his kids life?

I have the day off today, need to get some things done and do some running around. Hope I can fit it all in.

My feet are still in a bunch of pain but I am dealing with it, have to sit a lot though. Not to rush time as it is short enough, but....come on July 8th, come on!

Shannon,

My children may not have had much of a relationship with their father, but my Dad was a big influence in their lives.
'
The other day I asked my son who he might consider a mentor in his life and he said definitely my Dad.

That is very sad to me Barb. Wish all dad's could be like mine.

Today has been a minimal step day, after 2:00 pm and I still have not hit 1000. Still several hours to get there.

Hope you are having a great day.

Thanks for the encouraging words, Shannon. Am doing a bit more each day.

Today will be a quiet day at home. My children's father lives here in Pendleton, but they have little relationship with him. He has shown little interest in their lives - so.................

My step goal is to hit 5000 each day, some days that is really hard for me to do. When I work I make it no problem, but when I am at home for the day I tend to sit because of my feet.

My appointment with the Podiatrist is in July but I will keep you informed.

Well done on your steps, we all have to start somewhere so no comparing necessary. Well done!

I drink a lot of water, usually get in 8+ a day. Back when I would be lucky to get a sip of water in a day but now I don't have to drink tap water so that helps. Keep up the great work Barb.

My goal is 1000 a day - I know that compared to some of you that is just a start.

But, I have lead a sedentary life and have weak legs.
And, your numbers only inspire me to do better each day. emoticon

Well, am finally drinking more water. I start with a glass of iced tea and then switch to water. Now am having a time keeping enough ice made! When the water is gone i suck on the ice.

Shannon, I hope the visit to the podiatrist was helpful.

My doctor wanted me to go to the podiatrist, but did not. My main problem is the thigh muscle on my left leg. Am taking magnesium and that seems to be helping. And am trying to walk more each day.

I am enjoying the warmer weather and love playing in the dirt!!

Hi Barb, you must be so proud of your daughter. Sounds like she is doing so much good in your area. I love all of the pretties this time of year, I have not been able to do much since I have been working a bunch lately, through the end of June I don't have many days off.

I have an appointment with a Podiatrist on July 8th so hopefully they can fix my feet. They have been in so much pain lately that I can barely do anything so I have been doing a bunch of sitting when I don't have to work.

Anyway, hope you have a great evening.

Yesterday I planted the last of the wave petunias I have picked up at BiMart. Now need something else for our back area.

No plans for today except to call my daughter, Kathi. She is a nurse - works for DaVita (mostly kidney dialysis) and has also been going to school full time. So we do not have much time together - but perhaps today. Will see.

Our snow is beginning to melt - but we are freezing again this morning - in the mid 10s.
So will be icy in spots - especially the side streets and the parking lot here at our apartment.

Need to get to the library today to pick up a book and to BiMart for a few things.

And the sun is out bright now - so that should speed the thaw. Well, we can at least hope so!!

I had the same challenge, Barb. I found that if I keep my water mug (no other beverages allowed in this mug) right beside me, I will sip at it throughout the day. emoticon

(Of course I'm also getting all those extra steps from the extra trips to the potty!) emoticon

My greatest challenge is to drink enough water. Have tried all the tricks, but none seem to help. I just forget. Even now stuck inside with all the snow, I though I would do better - but not. Got out my favorite pink glass and will try again today.

Pam, only needing about 30 days to recover really shows how exercising has strengthened your body. That seems like a fast recovery to me. And look how quickly you recognized the old habit making its appearance. That shows real growth too! emoticon

Pam, you really said a mouthful! Thanks for being so honest, we've all been there. Soooo easy to relax just a little and backslide. It is amazing, sigh.

We missed you on Team. Glad you're back, and I know you can get right back into those healthy habits. Let the journey continue. We're here, travelling the same journey with you.

It has been a while. On January 8th I had a fall that twisted my ankle and my Achilles’ tendon, effectively derailing my on plan behavior. I was cleared by the doctors and physical therapist to return to exercise.

Frankl I was amaized that, after 3 years, I so quickly returned to my old unhealthy habit of using food for comfort. Anyway, I am slowly working my way back and plan to be more of a presence on my teams.

I hope 2019 is treating you well.

Not sure, but I think it resets yearly. You can set up weekly minutes and steps by going to the fitness edit section. And at the bottom of your fitness page there is a monthly/yearly that you can edit but looks like it starts at 0 for the year.

Staycation is done. Back home and time to get completely back with my program. I’m looking forward to it, go figure. A healthier style of eating is more appealing to me now. That, in itself, shows how far I’ve come and I have no intention of ever going back to the way it was.

I hope you had a wonderful Wednesday fellow Sparkers.

Just went to my 3rd Weigh to Go meeting and lost another 1.9 pounds, so far 3.1 since I joined. WOO HOO! Guess I just need that weekly group accountability. Hope the trend sticks. It is not only a weight group but one that try's to help out when another in the group is having an awful time. It is a weight and life support group, so far I love it. I am the youngest one in the group, most of them have kids that are 50 (my age) and above. Such love there, makes me feel right at home.

I crocheted my first scarf and hat. I also made some Christmas tree napkins and some stove towels (not sure what to call them).

My very first crocheted scarf and hat

My second set

Some of the stove towels that I have made

Christmas tree napkins in bulk

A single one, double sided of course. Half moon then folded.

Oh yeah....I also made some Thanksgiving arrangements, I wont post them all just a couple

Gosh....it is hard to choose, I have more but I promise this will be the last one I post

It’s been a busy week. This holiday season is rough. Last year I was not working so I was able to avoid the pitfalls of the cookies, cakes, pot lucks and holiday parties. When confronted with so many things/foods outside my new healthier lifestyle, I am becoming overwhelmed with the constant barrage of food.

Ready for the holiday ‘eating’ season to come to a close. Never thought I would be sick of seeing/eating junk food, but I really am.

So far I have been pretty successful in avoiding most of it but I can definitely feel the difference and I am ready to resume my “regularly scheduled program.”

Hope you are faring well during this busy holiday season.

Have you tried looking at the Senior Center in your area, that is where our group is. I know what you mean about being able to afford it, I used to do WW a few years ago and then it was $15 a week. Tops is only $35 a year, I think, so it is a bit more affordable, just none in my area without having to drive 35 miles to get to it. Spark is for sure an important part for me too.

Shannon, that sounds awesome. Good for you. That is the one thing I wish I had here, IRL. Unfortunately, I don’t and I cannot afford to pay weekly for a program. That’s why my connections here at Spark are so important to me.

That is a great goal and achievement Pam. Well done my friend, well done.

I found a new group right here in my small town. They are called Weigh to go, they used to be a tops group some odd years ago. This morning was my second meeting and I actually lost 1.2 pounds. WOO HOO! So happy that I finally found something to help that does not cost any money. Just a small group of people looking for the same thing, all they do is bring in a fruit or veggie to put in a basket for the person who loses the most and a dime in a fun jar, they do a drawing and if the person drawn is there and lost weight that week they get the pot if not it just adds up. What a great group of people.

I hope December is treating everyone well. The “Food Pushers” are out in full force. I have become very creative with my excuses and when they don’t work, I just firmly say no thank you. Sticking to my goal of no weight gain for this holiday season. So far so good.

Juszt keep taking it one day at a time Spark friends. We will get there. Hope you had a great week. It’s almost done and the weekend is dead ahead.

Been MIA for a while. I have followed our team daily but just was not posting. I will try to do better this month. I cannot believe it is the final month of 2018. This year has flown.

I set a goal to maintain through this holiday season (October - December) and I am happy to report that I have stayed within the same goal range (up or down 0.8 lbs) for the last two months. I am counting this as a major victory. My hope is to go into 2019 not needing to lose any holiday pounds.

I hope all of your journey’s are going well. Let’s finish this year strong and start the new year with a new resolve to reach all our goals. Have a fantastic December, Spark friends.

emoticon I finally talked to the right person....There is a support group in Brownsville so I will be starting that tomorrow. It is every Friday from 9:30-11, so excited! Bring in a fruit or a veggie and .10 to .25 cents every week and that is the only fee. They not only talk about weight but all sorts of life things that come up. Accountability here I come!

Hi Carrie and welcome back! I am no nutritionist but mine told me that I should be getting between 1200-1500. I am 50, 5'3" and embarrassed to say my weight has gone up so I am at 192 at the moment. Try to get in about 150 minutes per week to start.

Welcome to our team Fitness, what is your name? Would love to call you by that instead of Fitness.

Hi Everyone,

I am starting my Weight Loss journey over again and I need some advice. I will be 40 in a few months. I am 5'1 inches tall and I weigh about 173 lbs. In order to lose weight what should my calorie range be and how long should I be exercing everyday? All feedback is appropriated!

Good afternoon Spark friends. Its my day off and gorgeous out so I am taking advantage of the weather and getting in an outdoor walk.

They are not cheap. My replacement was around $135. However, I love the Fitbit and all of its features. I honestly believe it is the tool that started my exercise journey. It’s worth the price to me.

I think they have less expensive versions but I have always owned the Fitbit HR and then the Charge2. So I went with what I knew. They have discontinued the Charge2 and are bringing out a Charge3 but I didn’t want to wait. I feel lost without it on my arm. :)

Stress is a definite deterrent to a successful journey. Just do what you can, when you can and do a little more each day. I hope you are getting better and I wish you much success on your journey to a thinner, healthier you.

How much are Fitbit's these days anyway? I don't have one, just a very old pedometer that tracks my steps and heart rate monitor that I strap around my chest (not working all that well right now).

I am slowly getting out of my funk, I was funk induced by way to much stress. The stress is still there but I am trying really hard to let it go as there is nothing I can do about it right now. I have gained way to much weight and need to get my head back together. Slow progress but at least it is progress.

Hugs to everyone.

Well my Fitbit bit the dust yesterday. I went into a panic because if I am addicted to anything it is probably tracking my progress. I went to Target and purchased a new one. I was going to get a new one as a Christmas present to me anyway so I guess Christmas came a little early.

Anyway, I’m back on track, crisis averted. Had to play catch up yesterday to reach my 12K step goal but I did it.

Hope your week is going well. Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone.

It’s been three week since I last posted to the team. Lots of things going on with life. Some good, some bad, but all needed attention.

I hope you are having a great September and your journey is headed where you want/need it to go.

It has been a while. I hope all is going well with your lives, and with your journey as well. I am still not weighing myself until September. However, based on several NSV’s I thin my journey is going well.

Wishing all a blessed Sunday. Have an enjoyable and relaxing day.

Karen had a procedure done Wednesday, they drained over 3 liters of fluid out of her stomach. This has relieved some pressure from her lungs and she is breathing much better. She is still in ICU but sounded much better today, she can actually say a sentence without getting winded and having her air plummet to 50 after every word. They will hopefully be trying a copd machine to help her get over that hump and hope it will help her breathing. We are hopeful that she will be out of ICU in a few days then down to the regular part of the hospital for another few days.

YEAH!!!! Thank you God! And thank all of you who have had her in your prayers.

I will fill you in as I get more info.

As far as me.....I had an appointment on Wednesday for my shoulder, turns out that I have a frozen shoulder. So...I have a lot of work ahead of me to get it back into working order. GRR!!! Otherwise hanging in there. Still home for now, but as soon as Karen is out of the hospital I will be gone from 1-3 months.

Have a great weekend everyone. We will be driving to Portland again.

It’s a new week, so far, so good. Had a really good weekend. Never had this problem before but, I have to force myself to eat. I am only eating when I get really hungry and this heat is sapping all my energy so I don’t feel hungry. I am trying to get at least 1000 calories in each day. I am drinking a lot of water and I am making some smoothies and using Atkin protein shakes to supplement. This won’t last but I will work through it until my appetite resumes.

I wish everyone a great week ahead.

Hang in there Shannon. I believe that, “If God brings you to it, He will get you through it.” Glad things are a bit better and I will continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

I just wrote a huge message and lost it.....GRR!!! I will try again

Yesterday was a very long day, we drove to Lake Oswego to pick up the keys for the house we will be staying at when Karen can leave the hospital. Very charming, less than 800 sf 1890's home.

After that we drove to Portland to see Karen, we got there around 11:30 am and stayed till about 7:30 pm. She is awake but very confused. Most of the day she had a lock on my hand and would not let go, I could not even sit.

She is on Fentanyl and Prednisone, among others. Side effects are crazy, some of which are....Fentanyl; agitation, confusion, hallucinations, seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there. Prednisone; depression, mania, psychosis, mental confusion, aggression, agitation.

She is convinced that the nurses are all trying to kill her and are talking about her. Oh, apparently they are also peeing in her IV and food tubes. She is seeing things that are not there. It is all kind of scary....She is yelling at her poor daughter Darian telling her she does not care and to leave the room, only for me to stay. Poor Darian was in tears, so I was also hugging her and holding her hand and telling her to pay no mind to what Karen says that she does not mean it. Not sure why Karen chose me to be the only one she trusts.

It was a really hard day. This was not exactly how I stated everything before, it is a more simplified version of what I had. But oh well...

Update....I just received a call from Ashley at the hospital and Karen is doing a bit better today, cooperating with the nurses and not so paranoid. So YEAH!!!!

I am definitely staying hydrated. Never less an 64 ounces of water a day and, since the heat hit 100+, usually a bit more.

I hope you are staying well hydrated Pam. Hope you have A/C, we don't right now and on average in our house it is 88 degrees unless you stand right in front of the portable A/C unit then it is 84. The portable unit cannot keep up with the size of the room. Oh well! It is what it is.

Have a great Friday and an awesome weekend everyone.

Las Vegas is under a heat advisory for the next four days 110-119 expected temps. I will definitely be exercising indoors and drinking lots of water.

Have a great, goal reaching week everyone.

Being positive is a choice. My Mantra: “Every day may not be good, but there is something good in every day." Each morning seek the positive and you will have a good day. Always remember, “Your only competition is YOU.”

Thanks Pam and Carol. I suppose my body will eventually adjust to it...but man! My weight, hot flashes, cold flashes, bloating, water retention, slight moods (only one really bad one so far). It is all starting to get the better of me. But.... THIS TO SHALL PASS! I have an appointment in October so I will pick my doc's brain.

Hope you are all having a GREAT Thursday.

Shannon, how about trying some deep breathing (meditative-like) and body stretches. while your flashy-fan cools down your hot flashes. Maybe it will really zen you out, at least for a short break. Menopause hit me hard, too. It does get better so hang in there.
