Susan, I have still been mowing although I got the major, very high, portion of our front yard done. Now it's easier to go out there and get areas done without it almost slaying me. We can let the horses out to graze in the front yard and let the dogs out there to play, with a chance of all of us seeing snakes before they get us.

You did have an interesting day at work. And it sounds like you and John will have a fun September. The electronic work you did sounds impressive. R and my computers (since I got a new one and R inherited my old one) are wired and I'm in the process of getting all the cables tied up and hidden...they drive me nuts and it's like they multiply. My parents tease me about the time I visited them when Dad was being treated for cancer. He was zonked out on pain drugs so I took that time to organize all the computer cables running from his computer.

I used empty toilet paper and paper towel rolls to hold the excess cable wires and attached them where they couldn't be seen. They didn't realize I'd used toilet paper and paper towel rolls until a year later when they were having some computer work done. They thought it was funny that I had used those things...kind of extra thrifty, extra creative, and silly, all at the same time. emoticon

R had never eaten yogurt in his life until last week and now he's eating it everyday and he's not going to stop eating it everyday. The changes he's making in his eating habits amaze and inspire me. emoticon

I'm back, at almost 2 AM no less! I took a nap earlier so of course now I'm wide awake :)

Marilyn I've heard of oxygen bars where people go to breathe oxygen through little hoses, so working out on oxygen does make sense to me. You and R are wise to do the research and make your own decisions. YAY for lawn mowing as a sneaky way to exercise.

Pat it sounds like you had a good day.

I had an interesting day at work. I was working at a different office and first a customer who I used to have when I worked at a branch in another city, had not seen him since 1998 came in and was impressed I remembered his name. So impressed he brought back muffins for the employees. Later the mailman brought in the bank's mail and it was the young man who cuts my lawn! I knew he had gotten a job at the post office, but didn't realize where. Small world!

I also met a man who wanted to show me his "Pride and Joy" and produced an old picture of a bottle of Pride furniture polish and Joy dish detergent. I've seen that before but I smiled and laughed anyway.

I talked with John for awhile and we made plans to go bowling next weekend. With seeing my sister last week and the funeral this week we haven't had a chance to see each other, but talk or text just about every day. We have plans to do something together just about every weekend in September.

Tonight I watched "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" and "My Best Friend's Wedding" on Amazon Prime, after installing my new WIFI gateway that the cable company sent me about a month ago. It was a fairly easy install and I now have less spaghetti wires hanging all over the place. This one piece replaced two I was previously using and I have it configured on my laptop, kindle, cell phone wifi and ROKU. Last one will be wireless printer which I will do tomorrow.

Need to try and sleep now. Have a good night everyone! emoticon

Susan, enjoy your time off! emoticon

Pat, you are sounding like you feel better! emoticon

Have you guys heard of EWOT (Exercise With Oxygen Therapy) R is doing it everyday for 1 month...it's a long drive to the naturopath place, each day, to do it, but he at least then heads to work on his work days and on one of his day's off, we are going to his neuro, which is 5 miles from the naturopath, so he's giving it a 30 day try. (Long sentence) emoticon emoticon

We researched EWOT and it appears to actually have real health benefits rather than being a gimmick. Whereas the ionized water that the naturopath wants us to buy (although R gets a gallon free every time he does EWOT) does seem to have a lot of doubters and naysayers. Our friends actually bought a Kagen water machine but R and I think that would not be a good idea for us. We really do want to stick with things that have been proven to work. Also, R may not go for a follow up appt in a month because we think we have learned a lot and continuing with the naturopath will probably lead to him wanting us to pay for things we don't think are going to be helpful.

Pretty day today so this evening I'm going to do some more lawn mowing. I'm proud of my lawn mower and like using it. emoticon Plus I put on my heart rate monitor and don't stop working for 2 hours and that gives me a good workout for the day. emoticon

Heating up a bit today. Went to the library to return some books. A neighbor called to say they were taking some paint cans to a legal dumping area so we got rid of about eight cans of half filled old paint. What a relief to get that out of the basement. I need to do some cleaning of my wreath making things and get rid of some of it We have a resale thing at church in September and I think I will put them together for that. Have some other things also to get rid of too. Need to get very serious about unloading things we do not use to want anymore. I am going to go through my summer clothes that I did not wear this summer and give them to the Salvation Army. . I can and will do this!!!

Glad you had a good day Pat. R and I are busy reading and studying and it's fun but all the appts are keeping us busy. emoticon emoticon emoticon

We just got our electricity back after losing it for 2 hours so I'm going to get off the computer since we are still having thunderstorms and I won't be surprised if we lose the electricity again.

Have a good night's sleep everybody! emoticon emoticon emoticon

If I ever win the Lottery (won't happen as I do not play) I would love to have an inground pool . Would actually like it inside in like a porch where you can roll the ceiling back in the summer and cover and warm in the winter. It is great exercise to swim. Mari, that is so great that you are doing everything possible to get you and Robert as healthy as you can be. That is so great. I had a good day. Got out and got my hair cut and styled then had lunch with a friend. Really nice day !

Jo-Ann, for the two years we lived in town, in El Paso, we had an in-ground swimming pool and a really nice indoor hot tub. It was like we were rich! emoticon I really miss both of those things but don't miss living in the middle of a big city and also don't miss the neighborhood folks warring over irrigation every 2-3 weeks. R and I got along with everybody so we ended up being the buffer between the warring neighbors and that was stressful. Also, I felt like I had a full time job maintaining our swimming pool. I learned to do it properly from the pool cleaning company, so we didn't have that monthly fee. Still, I think of that pool often, when I'm hot and tired and I also think of our hot tub when I'm cold and sore.

I'll discuss more naturopath things with you as I think of them. We are so overwhelmed by information and wacky ideas. emoticon

If we ever meet, it needs to be at a pool with Jo-Ann, leading us in exercises. emoticon

R and I feel best when we move so sitting in a chair and listening to a naturopath for 4.5 hours, just about slayed us. emoticon Luckily he gave us written material of what he said and and what he wants my husband to do, because it's going to take us a while to even figure this all out. Background: my active, 6ft, 155lb, husband was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease CIDP, 3 months ago. His symptoms are numbing of the toes (and now a little numbing of the fingers), that has gotten progressively worse over the last 4 years. He's getting 15 IVG infusions (the antibodies of 1000 people) to see if that helps. So far, after 11 of these infusions, he can't really tell if there is improvement but it can take a long time for improvement to be noticed, if this treatment actually helps a person.

It'll take me a long time to absorb what we learned from the naturopath so I'm going to throw things out, over time, as I remember them and/or we implement them. Also, we aren't going to automatically do everything he says because there are some things we want to research more before we even know if we want to do them.

A few highlights concerning R that the naturopath thinks are very important:

R (6ft and 155lbs) should gain 30 lbs (not fat but mostly muscle through eating and strength training). I agree that he should gain weight but gaining 10 lbs will be his first goal. Both of us are going to work on gaining muscle and we want R to be at a "not too thin" weight well before he's 70 (he's 57 now) because it's even more important to have muscle strength once we are older than 70 and being too thin is not good after that age.

He wants R to have apple cider vinegar (we both get 1TBS of Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar with the mother every day), sauerkraut (gag emoticon emoticon I don't even like the smell of that stuff but I'll try to start eating it and then get R to eat it too), beets (I can do beets but I'll have to work on getting R to eat them), raw yogurt (I have yogurt everyday and R is going to start today although it has not been raw yogurt until now), and probiotics (we've been doing this already) everyday.

My husband has existed on 5 or less hours of sleep for the last 35 years mostly due to the stressful, always rotating, schedules that go with being an Air Traffic Controller. He's never been able to get into any pattern of sleeping so even though he falls sleep easily (including any time he sits down anywhere, whether it's at the dinner table, in a busy mall, getting a root canal at the dentist, etc) his body is wired to wake up in 5 hours and he's off and running. He needs to change this even if it's going to be hard. He needs to be getting 8 hours of sleep a day. While he's still an ATC, it's going to be hard but he's going to really put effort into getting more sleep. He needs to slow down in body, mind, and emotions.

About R's job. He's never taken a sick day in his entire career. Also, he's always "on" for his job...he's not ever going to fall asleep there and I do think that is part of the reason he can fall asleep so easily elsewhere. When he's not "on the job", his mind and body just let him go into REM any where else. Even though he doesn't get a lot of sleep, I do think he's getting a lot of REM and goes into REM right away. Still, I also think his body needs more downtime than it's getting. He needs to learn to "relax". emoticon

He is going gluten free although the naturopath doesn't think it will change anything about his autoimmune disease (CIDP) since R doesn't seem gluten intolerant. Still he says that gluten is like eating glue and the less of that, the better. Plus we've both read Grain Brain and are reading Wheat Belly, so we are learning more information about glutin and wheat. Even though he wants R to give up milk, he encourages him to have raw yogurts and certain cheeses.

There is so much more but we are going to tackle things in ways that we can handle so that we will eventually be where we want to be but without overwhelming ourselves so much that we give up. The naturopath spoke with us for 4.5 hours and we have 100s of pages of personalized instructions and info...this was all about R but I'll make the same changes where it is applicable to me.

Part of the reason that we will take our time on some changes is that we want to do a lot of research and reading on why we would want to make certain changes. We want to understand why we are doing these things and also decide if we agree that R should make these changes. We've already done a lot of research on supplements, food, exercise, and everything health related, over the years, and even more so in the last 4 months, once R got the diagnosis of CIDP.

The intense research lately, has been fun but mind boggling too. The fun part is doing it together and discussing what we are reading but there are so many opinions and also scams that one needs to be aware of, before a person makes a decision to follow one path totally. The naturopath we saw is such an interesting character and very adamant about the things that he believes. We want to be informed and we want to understand why we are doing what we are doing. emoticon

Calllie, Marilyn, I like breakfast foods, but sometimes not at breakfast! I usually have something small with my coffee. I'm big on eggs and omelets and hash browns (and breakfast meats in any form), but I may be the only person in the world who doesn't like french toast or waffles. (I eat pancakes maybe once every few years. Love maple syrup but I don't care much for what it goes on.) I like the idea of sweet pastries, but I always go for the savory stuff every time, any time of day.

Good a/m ALL

Had a nice lunch with some friends yesterday then home.

Thought I would check into making camping reservations for the north rim of the Grand Canyon...but all is booked up before the winter sets in. We have never been to that side ....maybe next year. We can make reservations 6 months in advance.

Getting oil changed today...got a groupon discount for $19 for a $129 checkup.I am sure they will try to find something wrong.

Marilyn...I want to dream with you on swimming with the babies while JoAnn teaches class.

Susan... thanks for the prayers for grson. Glad all went well for the funeral.

Got my haircut yesterday....every 4 weeks....I am too "high maintenance". emoticon But when my hair gets 1/2 inch longer...it sticks out in the crown area. I guess I need to think that I am worth it.

Callie, I like breakfast foods any time of day. I don't even think I have a time limit on when foods can be eaten. emoticon Callie, I hope you hear from your grandson someday. emoticon

JoAnn, I am pretty hermit-y and never had a desire to go to school reunions or keep up with people from the past. Part of that my be because R and I have moved so much in his career that I don't seem to have much in common with people from my younger days. Yeppers, I dream of swimming with you and taking your aerobics classes Jo-Ann. emoticon

Susan, overall this computer problem is working out very well and it actually leaving us feeling good about this company. We also had very good service from the Geek Squad in town. Glad today went well and I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. emoticon

We were very tired after our long day with the computer and computer techs yesterday. Then we had to be up early so I could pack the returning computer part very well and then we headed to town to a UPS center to send the part. Next we got our car washed and then on to R's appt with the naturopath. The 3 hour appt turned into 4.5 hours (no extra charge) but a lot of it included BenJoseph talking about his life experiences. He's quite a character and had done a lot of everything.

We were pretty worn out by the time we left and did eat out to try to recharge our batteries for the drive home. Didn't get home until 8:30pm and R is taking care of the animals now.

I'll tell you more about the appt tomorrow when I'm had a good night's sleep. emoticon emoticon

Thanks Jo. I was just remembering how the 40 x 40 challenge that Buddy Shuh did at the beginning of 2014 helped me get focused and stay on track so thought I'd try it again.

Today was long but not as difficult as I thought it would be. It was good to see so many family members and friends. The funeral is at 11:30 tomorrow.

Callie I will add that grandson to my prayers in hopes he reaches out to someone soon.

I checked my FB page info....no phone number. I don`t think I would have put it on there. I am wondering how she got it. I know she told me the other friend said she found it on FB. Strange...huh? The other friend may "friend me" as I told the phone call friend to tell her to. The phone call friend says she knows nothing about FB and not much about the computer. I am so curious. I keep my FB page "public" incase my daughters` son may want to contact me. We have not seen him in 8 years....he is 19 now and can make his own decisions. Long story......maybe some day he will contact us.

Susan, I'll be thinking of you on this difficult day.

I like your challenge. It took a while, but I found that exercising every day works best for me. I hope you will give yourself a star or sticker on your calendar every day you get your workout done. This helped me see, at a glance, how I was doing. It is a great feeling to look back at a page full of stars!

Wow Callie that would freak me out if someone called me out of the blue without me having given them my phone number! I keep my Facebook settings pretty tight. A person can only friend me through someone who already has me in my list of friends.

Jo that is weird to get an invitation to join a team that way. It may be from someone that you saw a post you made in another team's thread, but usually they are on at least one team in common with yours.

Marilyn I hope the computer is running the right way very soon. I agree we get a lot more accomplished with good manners than with foul language. :)

I will be leaving in about an hour for the funeral home and will be there until after 9 PM tonight. I did manage to get an hour and a half nap after awaking so early this morning. I've had my shower and feel refreshed and ready to face the difficult day ahead. My niece, who was always Daddy's Little Girl (even now at age 39) is having a tough time with his death.

I have set a 40 x 40 exercise challenge for myself. To do exercise 40 days in a row. Today was day one, thirty minutes on exercise bike completed.

Onward & Downward!

Callie, that is the way I usually shop. I rarely go to malls, and I rarely buy much.

Alas, there will be no babies for me to kiss until my Y classes start up again after Labor Day. I've been going to a different Y to swim laps, and getting to go home early. I love my classes, but I'm enjoying my break. I have had a couple of lazy evenings, but plan to use the rest of the evenings to get stuff done.

I checked your facebook profile, didn't see your phone number there. I think I am a bit odd about not liking to reconnect. My feeling is that if we didn't keep in touch in the first place, we probably don't have very much in common now. Lately I've been getting some friend requests from people I knew years ago, but didn't have that much of a connection to begin with. I ignore them unless I think I'm likely to run into them socially.

Back to work for me!

Good a/m ladies

D is still asleep. So, I have a few minutes to write before he plops his chair beside me.

Went to a new mall yesterday...glad we went but not too many stores that I would even consider shopping in. Too "high end" for me and my budget. I am determined not to buy any more clothes. That is what I shop for. I bought 3 suckers from Sees Candies, The free sample was dark chocolate with chocolate fudge and walnuts. So total on the mall trip I spent $2.59

Stopped by Costco for lunch and 2 rotisserie chickens. Another cheap event....under $20

About 4:00 p/m I received a phone call from a past grade school friend. She and another friend had looked me up on FB. I guess my phone number is there. We chatted and caught each other up to date. Will I keep in contact???? don`t know but nice to connect. Through this, I "friended" the other of us 4 and have connected with her on FB. Don`t like phone calls so much as D listens in and adds things.

Marilyn...you are so smart when it comes to computers...I guess it pays to be nice. I would not be able to talk to them as they talk too much computer lingo.

Pat...glad to know that you are on the mend. I can hear your birds singing.

Susan....prayers and hugs to you and your family.

JoAnn....kiss those sweet babies for me.

Going out to lunch with friends today. I may order breakfast. I love breakfast foods any time of the day.

Want to get my hair cut...may do that 1st thing this a/m.

That`s about it for me. Not much going on.

Callie

Yay for meds starting to work Pat emoticon

Awake at 3:30 AM which I am sure is stressing over the day ahead. I will be at the funeral home from 2 to 9 tonight. The funeral is tomorrow at 11:30. I have both days off work.

I am on my Kindle while on the exercise bike, starting my day with positives. A friend of mine is a hula hoop instructor who says life is circular, if I am in a bad place keep going and the good part will come back around. I am holding on to that thought.

I had my mid year review last night which went better than I expected.

Lifting you up in prayer Callie emoticon

No I hope you have a good day at work.

Peace and harmony everyone!

Susan, your life has so much going on in it. I'm glad you can stay where you are at your branch. I miss Shell too! emoticon

Jo-Ann! emoticon

Pat, I'm glad you are on the mend. Speaking of birds, our place is full of them. We have quail running all over our property and bird nests in all the cactus and mesquite and our barn is deafening from all the birds and bird nests with baby birds. I LOVE it. I spend so much time listening to and watching the birds. And today I saw a hummingbird on our front porch. They are a rarity out here.

Also we had computer techs here today and they wanted to hear about all our animals and they wanted to meet them too...they even liked all the wild flowers growing in our yard.

Turns out there was a major problem with my computer's video card and it has to be sent back to the factory. R sent them an email last night, that we were disappointed to spend so much on a computer and a tech got right back to us. R thanked him for taking action so quickly and today he had an El Paso computer person come out to our house and try to fix the computer. He couldn't so that part has to go back to the shop and they are sending me a new one.

Normally they never contract local techs to come to a customer's house like they did today (they are in KS) but they said we had been so nice both when I ordered the computer and when I spoke to each of the techs, that they wanted to get things fixed ASAP. So as soon as the part is in the mail tomorrow, they will express mail the new part to me.

I'm not happy that the original part didn't work but the service to fix the problem has been great and the local tech they sent was really good too. He told us that the computer guy called him and said that it was really important that he get out to us right away because we were so nice. I guess this has been a good experience even amid the not so good experience of my computer not working on arrival.

But we sure are tired since we worked on this last night and got up and have been busy on it all day. Tomorrow is R's appt with the naturopath so we will be in town all day.

I'll sleep good tonight! emoticon

Well, I am still alive!!! Not coughing quite as much thanks be to God. With all the meds I am on and the daily breathing treatments four times a day I should be great very soon. I really like the new breathing inhaler with attachments. It is a lovely day here. I feel like a child looking out the window wanting to go out but knowing I cannot not and wanting to cry. At least I have lots of wonderful windows to watch the birds. When Fran and I are on the computer it is a no talk no bugging each other time unless it is a serious emergency. I would go crazy if he were looking over me, so I feel for you Callie. There is togetherness and smotherness, don't think this is a real word but you know what I mean. Mari, I am sure you are enjoying your new fur child, a dear friend of mine many years ago found out she was pregnant again having already five children. It was unplanned but she said at this point what is one more!!! lol. Hope all are having a great day. Have fun with the pool kiddies and Susan let us know what you decide on the hairs!! Hugs to all.

Fresca! Callie I have not had that in years. They don't sell it here.

Pat I hope the pneumonia heals quickly. That stuff is nasty.

Marilyn what a bummer to not be able to use the new computer straight away. I know you'll have fun setting it up today :)

Callie I also completely understand about alone time. There were days I felt like a prisoner. Looking back, I wish I could have a few more.

Jo it seems like your busy time at work will be in full swing with kiddos going back to work.

Anyone heard from Shell?

The funeral planning is waiting to hear back from Father Mike on his ability to deliver the service. We are most likely looking at Wednesday for visitation and Thursday for funeral. It was a difficult day at work yesterday with trying to focus, on top of being my first day back from vacation. I will be working today and getting my mid-year review at the end of the day. I did find out my job has been secured and I am staying at my current branch, that's one big stress relief!

Hope everyone has a safe, happy, not too hot, not too wet kind of day! emoticon

I was so excited today about my computer coming that I almost couldn't sleep and then we lost electricity for 12 hours. So my computer came and I could only look at it in the dim light in our house and there was no electricity to try it out. When the electricity came on and I started to set it up, they didn't send the right cable from the monitor to the computer so R will try to get the right one when he leaves work at midnight.

It was so hot here with no AC or fans and what breeze there was was from the east and our house has no windows on that side. I spent a lot of time outside, in the shade, brushing the dogs. I am very thankful our electricity is back! emoticon

OOPS! You are right Pat, I wasn't going to get anymore animals but now we have her...but my excuse is that she was grandfather claused in due to my finding her as a pup (or something like that). emoticon

Pat, I should have been nagging you to go to the doctor! Glad you know what's wrong now so you can treat it properly. emoticon emoticon

Susan, sending hugs and prayers to you and your sister. And thanks for the link again. emoticon emoticon

Callie, I know you need your alone time (it's important for all of us) and you can't recharge when you don't have it. A flower bed of some kind sounds good. I think of you all the time. emoticon emoticon

Jo-Ann, I thought of you today as we sweltered in the heat. I dreamed of swimming in a pool. emoticon emoticon

Oh, Pat! I suspected that but didn`t want to say it. Sometimes not saying it will keep it from happening. I am so sorry.

Yes...we can whine together and I will drink vodka and Fresca.

Thank you JoAnn...it can get very annoying.

Hope to BBL

I went to the doctors and found out I have pneumonia . Doctors was very upset with me that I did not come to see him sooner. I had to have a breathing treatment and am on four different medications. He wants me to stay in for the next week and rest and drink lots of fluid. I am seriously thinking of maybe orange juice and Gin. Then I won't care how lousy I feel. The antibiotic is upsetting my stomach. Boo Whoo! We will vent together Callie.

Helloooooooooooooo

I have tried to read all the posts since I have been gone.

Marilyn...that is ALOT of work to do ahead but your appointment ill be more thorough. I know you know this.

Susan, glad you had a great vacation and sorry for the news about your brother-in-law. That is true about Good will Susan as well as every other Sat. being 50% off.

Pat....hope your cough can be eased up. I can feel your frustration.

Sheila..I .understand about absence.

D wants to come and sit by me when I get on the computer. It drives me crazy. I don`t say anything but I am hardly on at all. If I want to vent to you guys...I can`t. My time is limited. We look a lot at pictures I have on my laptop.

He is asleep now...so I thought I would sneak on here. I use to be able to have a few hours by myself in the a/ms but lately he has been getting up.

I miss my SP time and keeping up with all your happenings.

I am playing with the idea of going back up north but I need to think of a project tat D and I can do as he does not like just lounging around. I would love to have a wild flower bed. I threw a packet of seeds up there 3 falls ago but reading up on them...they need to have at least 12 weeks of warm weather to germinate. So, when I did this....it was getting really cold. I thought they might just lay dormant til spring but if that is the case, it has not been fruitful in 3 summers. So, thinking that "maybe" D and I could get a flower bed going as we will still be going up there til maybe mid Oct. But I have to consider the expense of the gas , etc. emoticon

I am going to go get Ds last lab work results from the docs office today. I little short drive. They usually call me with the results but this time they did not. I will ask for a referral to his neuro in Sept. They were suppose to do that and they did not.

Not much else going on. Had a busy and "fattening" weekend.

D is awake... emoticon so I will go for now. emoticon to ALL

Gary's brother Patrick passed away at 2 AM this morning due to complications of congestive heart failure and pneumonia. This is the brother who is married to my sister Barb who just went to Pennsylvania with me.

We will not be posting anything on Facebook until final arrangements have been made. Most likely will have his funeral on Wednesday or Thursday of this week.

Marilyn it was Legacywriter.com that I used.

Pat I hope all goes well at the doctor! I like my short spunky hair too, but then I won't be able to color it as well. Still deciding.

Going through the motions today, but for the most part holding strong to my faith.

Well, waiting for the doctors office to open to make an appointment. I am coughing like crazy again (drats) and very short of breath. To be honest I am a bit concerned that the shortness of breath could be a heart related problem so I plan to talk to doctor about getting an echo cardiogram to check my heart out. Having had two heart attacks about ten years ago I do not want to fool around with this. Susan, you have the best times. I am so very happy for you! Personally, I like you with short hair think you look spunky with it. Mari, that is one large house 4000 square feet. Glad all is going well with your newest adopted dog! You really did need another animal!!! lol. Hope all have a wonderful week. Sending hugs out to all.

One of R's co-workers, an air traffic controller who retired from the FAA and now works with R at the contract tower, is a personal trainer and has his own small gym with equipment. He and R discuss working out all the time and someday we may visit his gym. Wish we didn't live so far from town sometimes. emoticon

Lightly, I think summer is the my least favorite season since it gets so hot here. My walking always ends up being indoors because it'll be hot as soon as the sun comes up. So I look forward to the season change. emoticon

Jo-Ann, UTIs are the worse pain I've ever had. It seems extremely important for me to drink a LOT of fluids. Glad you got an otherwise good health report. emoticon

Susan, you looked beautiful for the wedding. I think your social life in one week is probably more than my social life in my life so far. emoticon I enjoy reading about what you get to do each day/week.

Pat, I'm glad you could get out because that means you must be feeling better! emoticon

I slept very good. I've been doing so much outside, esp in the evening when it starts cooling down. I enjoy our pets so much and things have been even more exciting for our dogs now that Mika (the neighbor's dog who is now ours) lives with us. She is 3 years old and a speeding bullet full of energy and loves to play. It works out that she has 4 older dogs to play with because she needs that many to entertain her.

We are going over to our neighbors' house to see the latest that they have done with it. It's about 4000 sq feet stucco and they are doing the inside themselves, after they get off work at their tailoring/upholstery business. They are some of the hardest working people I know.

My new computer comes tomorrow. When I got my last new computer, I certainly didn't think I'd be getting another one for years. But my old computers that R was using wore out and then he was just using an old xp emachine that is so slow and outdated that it's not worth using so he gets to inherit my "not very old" nice computer and I'm getting the newest one. We do everything on computers, including some work at home business in the past.

Susan, we are actively working on getting together an updated will and new directives that will spell out more precisely the things we do or don't want done to us. Can you remind me of the link to the site you used for your documents? We also are officially setting up my farrier as the person to contact if something happens to us...we want her to know immediately so that she can get to our place ASAP and start taking care of our animals. She now has a key to our place and the combinations to all our gate locks.

This business with our neighbor not making arrangements for her situation has made it clear we do not want that to happen to us. She could be on life support until her pacemaker wears out, which is sad because I think the only thing she may be feeling is pain. The doctors will keep her going as long as her insurance pays for it and she has good insurance.

Off to wear myself out again...but it's a good kind of worn out when it's from playing with pets and taking care of our place. emoticon

Pat YAY for weeding and exercise and enjoying the great outdoors!

Marilyn, sweet dreams!

I ended up doing nothing with my hair. Still in the "grow or cut" decision making process. I like the current color too :)

I went from Cinderella to Tigers fan with my employees last night. We won tickets to the Tigers Suite in a contest at work. 6 of us enjoyed all you can eat baseball food (yikes) while watching our team lose to the Texas Rangers. We got to Downtown Detroit early and sat in Grand Circus Park enjoying the atmosphere. A pedicab circled the park with a couple in the back who yelled out "We're having the time of our lives! We're getting married tomorrow!" After the game Downtown was hoppping with pop up concerts in several parks and lots of people and police presence to keep things safe. I was home by 10:30 PM.

I did have one too many hotdogs (which means I had two) and I passed up the decadent desserts cart that came by towards the end of the day.

Today I am Mistress of Grilling Mayhem at our Improv groups annual picnic. I may even put on my swimsuit and venture into the water for a splash with them! Our leaders Birthday tomorrow so we'll all be signing a Sympathy card for him to offer our condolences for the "passing of his youth and loss of his hair". We're kind of silly that way :)

Back to work tomorrow morning. I'm not ready. I want another week off LOL! My next vacation is September 20th, just around the corner really!

Love the color Susan. What are you thinking of doing with your hair? Men are so lucky they just wash and go. Today was much nicer, not so hot and humid. Got out and did some much needed weeding. Yard looks really good! Got some good exercise in !

Pictures from the wedding I went to yesterday are on my Facebook page. I will post just one here. I am in a transitional period with my hair and can't decide what I want to do next with it.

It was the most unusual wedding I've ever attended, outdoors in a shelter at a park. We sat at picnic tables, were fed before the ceremony. I had baked chicken breast, rice, and a variety of cold vegetables from the garnish tray. Water was my beverage and I did have a piece of wedding cake.

The bride was escorted down the aisle to the tune of 2001: Space Odessy by her son and daughter who were dressed as Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia. The love shining in both the bride and grooms eyes throughout the ceremony was there for all the room to see. It was quite lovely.

JO Gary had a colonized UTI so it always showed in test results whether it was active or not. I hope your next set of results comes back fine.

Callie I went to Goodwill today and bought a little black beaded purse for the wedding tonight. The clerk told me whatever the color of the week is, goes for $1 per item on Saturdays and Sundays! You might want to check yours to see if they have that too. She said it's an "unadvertised special".

Susan, thanks for your kind words. I'm glad whenever I can offer a little inspiration.

I had my annual physical, got a pretty good report.

My labwork in July showed that I had a urinary tract infection without any symptoms. I found that hard to believe, but took a course of antibiotics. Today's urine test still shows a problem with high white cell count, but we'll see what the lab results say. It may be from spending long hours in wet swimsuits. I'm very happy not to have any symptoms (I have had a few bad UTIs in the past), but curious why I have the infection.

Hi Lightly! What part of the country are you in? I'm in Michigan, and yes lots of snow and ice in our Winters here too.

Maybe a fun class like learning a new dance style? Social and exercise at the same time?

I was awake 20 minutes before the alarm this morning and used those 20 minutes on the exercise bike. I'll be calling the personal trainer to schedule a session and going to the pre-grand opening of a new Biggby (local chain) coffee this morning. The owner is the son of one of my former weight watchers leaders and today they are making free drinks while they train the baristas. I'll most likely just opt for black coffee although I could also do a skinny latte.

I chatted with my niece last night and found out what size t-shirt to buy for Betty. I am putting together a "Queen of the Hill" kit to mail her as a gift. I have my blue feather boa and a blue tiara already and am sending her the two call bells Gary used to use. I want to get a fun t-shirt to go along with that. I plan on sending her little things here and there as I won't be able to be there in person and want her to keep her spirits up.

Tonight I am going to a customers wedding along with my friend Joe. We are both counting WW points, me on an older plan and him on the new one so we will keep each other accountable.

Onward & Downward! emoticon

Hi ladies, I was just scanning the thread.. lots has been happening here that I've missed out on. It's late, I fell asleep during House M.D. reruns, so when it was bed time I couldn't sleep, so I'm up late.

Sad that summer is coming to a close because it means winter is coming up,and for me that means snow and ice, but I am feeling better with the oppressive heat being over with.
Trying to figure out some kind of a social thing for fall/winter... maybe join some classes? I dunno. Have been looking around, there are several options, just trying to find the ones that are the most appealing/maybe involving some, dun dun dun exercise ? lol

that's all for now folks, laters, Lightly_

Jo you inspire me to do more!

I stopped at the athletic center today to sign up for a meeting with a personal trainer, but they handed me her phone number to make appointment myself, put it in my purse and by the time I got home and got distracted by something else, I forgot to call.

That is on my list of goals for tomorrow along with a few others as I had my TOPS meeting tonight. We are having a Back To School incentive program. We were each given a notebook to use and bring back with:

-Readin' - labels and inspirational stories
-Ritin" - our food journals, thoughts, inspirational stories, exercise journals
-Rithmatic- tracking calorie (or for me, points)
-Review- our weekly weigh in
-Reward- lighter and healthier U

It was a good meeting.

Masters practice moved to a different Y for the summer, Marilyn, and unfortunately my teaching schedule made it impossible to get over to the other Y to join them in time. (It isn't in a good neighborhood, so I was actually relieved to not go there late at night.) Hopefully I can get back with them as soon as my Y reopens after Labor Day and I find out how their fall schedule fits with my classes.

I did a couple of Saturday morning lessons, but we didn't meet every Sat. due to various pool closures, vacation schedules, etc. I think I'll be doing that this Saturday. I hope to swim on my own a little bit Friday night.

Several of my Y classes are ending tonight for this session, the rest finish up early on Saturday. I will actually have some "free" evenings during the session break. Although I'll be swimming or working out somewhere each night (two other Ys), so they aren't totally free.

It wasn't even my idea to so all that work to get the info to the doctor a week before the visit. He actually requires it because he has his staff input everything to the computer and has programs that help him hone in on certain information that he can have ready for you when you come in for your appt. The friend who referred us to this naturopath said that when they went in for her husband's first visit, the doctor had already studied all her husband's information so it helped them get a lot more done during the appt. Her husband has Parkinson's and is getting traditional treatment but they think that the naturopath has helped her husband as much as the traditional meds.

Susan, your trip was packed with so much good stuff! Priceless to be with family and to spend that time together. Glad you have a good pet sitter. emoticon

I slept so hard again last night. I'm going to make Sat my mow day so I'll do some touch up mowing this Sat. Of course with as much property as we have, that can be hours of mowing...but from here on out, I plan to mow no more than once a week, if I can help it...and I should be able to manage that unless we keep having this freaky amount of rain for our area. emoticon

Jo-Ann, that is a good idea of taking truck rides as something to do all by itself. It it wasn't so hot there, walks would be good too.
