At 6am this morning it was really nice but it didn't take long to feel sweltering. emoticon

Jo-Ann, Callie has a picture of her painting on facebook. I told her that I could probably do ok on the painting of the black part of the picture. emoticon

Pat, we are very adaptable around here. I also have some great ice boots for my horses legs and we use them all the time on our own bodies. emoticon

R has run, biked, and stayed in shape all his life. He's been great as a motivator to work out everyday. emoticon

I'm really thankful for all of you...I cherish my friends. emoticon emoticon emoticon

It is 95 and very muggy here today, ick! Glad to be indoors at work. I hope the humidity goes down tonight--no AC at home.

It is hotter than Gulden's spicy mustard today! I am doing cleaning and reading. So incredible thankful for air conditioning. Mari, how does Robert feel about using the horses TENS unit? I hope he does not start neighing and get a swishy tail!!! lol. You must have one very slim hubby at 6 feet and 150 pounds. I am sure you are doing well with your food by watching over his. So sorry about your neighbor, hopefully she can get herself straightened out. Sounds like you might end up with their dog! Mari, Callie, Joann, Shell, Linda ,Susan have a great week. If I forgot anyone I am truly sorry!!!

Marilyn, I hope the plan for water aerobics for the mom works out. I've had so many people be a little skeptical at first, but then later on, they realize what a difference it makes. I understand about R's schedule. At other points in my life, I wouldn't have been able to get to the pool either. But down the road, I think water workouts of all sorts will be great for him.

R is lucky to have you help take such good care of him. The Ensure sounds like a good plan to help with his weight.

So glad to hear that things may out of your neighbor's hands. Clearly she is not able to care for herself or her pets.

Jo-Ann, My SIL wants R's and her 83 year old mom to take water aerobics at the community college and I'm urging her to do so too, so I think she's going to start soon. Also, R and I would really like for him to have access to some type of water workout. If we were living in our last home, we'd even consider a small home workout pool of some kind (with both a treadmill for water running and ability to swim in place) but that certainly would not be practical with this home, for many reasons.

At this point, with R working so many hours and with us so far from town, we won't be looking into joining somewhere with lap swimming because R needs to come home after working his long shifts. He would have a hard time getting to town to work out at a pool even once a week. But once this job is over in a couple of years, I want him to join a place where he can get water workouts, most days of the week.

We are doing all kinds of other things to help his situation. I have owned a TENs machine for about 15 years because I used it on my horses' legs for injury and soreness back when we competed. So now we are using it on R's feet, to help stimulate circulation. We continue to fine tune his diet but we have a long way to go before it's as good as it should be. One problem is he is losing weight now that he's not eating junk foods. He was 6 foot and 155 and now he's 150.

After removing excess sugars from his diet, we are now adding in two Ensure Pluses a day for the added calories, fat, and nutrients. They have 22 grams of sugar per Ensure Plus but we want to halt the weight loss for now. We continue to do lots of reading and research on ways to help R be healthier. One thing he will not do is stop being active. We know that is how he's gotten this far in this good of shape with the disease he has.

Quick hello. Had a fun day at the company outing. Managed to get some lap swimming in this weekend, and have been doing lots of walking. I still have lots to do to get ready for upcoming vacation at the end of the month (annual history convention in western PA). This is the last week of Session A classes at the Y, Session B begins next week!
Still busy at work! Way behind on spark--lots to catch up on here.
Hugs to you all!

Callie, when I read that D would be staying a few hours with your SIL Kevin, I first thought, "your sister-in-law is named Kevin?" emoticon

A paint party sounds fun but I know my painting wouldn't look like the picture you posted emoticon

R called his mom while he was at work, after I had spoken to her and she kept bringing up us working on the barn and how he needed to be very careful and asking questions about ways he was being careful so he knew I'd been telling on him. It actually helped that I talked to his mom because now we are going to ask our neighbor to help us put the big board up and in return, we are going to fill his trailer with horse manure. There is no way R and I should be doing that part of working on the barn ourselves and of course, I'll be making sure we stay very safe.

We have R's results from the electromagnetic tests and they verify that he has CIDP and that he has a lot of damage in his feet. The report is too technical for us to interpret much further so now he has to get with his doctor before he knows more.

R's mom is from New York but she left when she was 18 and lived in TX ever since then. Still, she has a discernible NY accent at 83 and R's sister, who is two years older than her, also says some words with a NY accent because of growing up around her mom...it's weird. emoticon

Hi

Marilyn...I never thought of you having a TX accent. I`ll bet you sound real cute. You are such a blessing to R and I know he knows it and shows you.

Susan emoticon I know you are dealing with a lot and are trying to move forward.

Pat...you have a wonderful appreciative neighbor...you are blessed.

I got the court report done on Thursday and even had it filed that afternoon.....$300 emoticon Seems to me if the courts want this report...they should pay for it.

I am hopeful that it will be accepted. If not...I guess I will deal with the frustration at that time.

Today I am going to my daughters` house for a "paint party". Kind of like a tupperware party only you paint. This is what we will be painting. I am really excited and hope it turns out well.

I will show the end project...good or bad. It cost $30 for the class. A new thing that I would not do but am going because my daughter asked me to. Hope she remembers that I already paid her.

D will be spending the few hours with Kevin, our SIL.

Then home to pack for a few days at the cabin...Sunday a/m ----Tuesday afternoon.

We did more barn work this morning and now will wait until Tue/Wed to continue, when R has those days off. R's mom called just to talk with me today (she's 83, like my parents) and I was telling her about us working on the barn and things worked towards me telling on Robert. emoticon

She's asked if we wear safety glasses and I told her that we did but that R wants to take a lot of short cuts that I think are unsafe, like getting on a very wobbly ladder rather than making sure it's on a flat surface and things like that and now she wants me to call her when he's doing unsafe things. emoticon

In fact, the next thing we need to do with the barn is re-attach a great big board and I think it's too heavy for R and me to do alone. I think I'm going to put my foot down and call his co-worker who has been here with his kids, to come help us. I know he will. I'm even willing to call the repair people we use and pay them to do it.

Pat, this reminds me of you telling me to tell him to get in out of the coming thunderstorm. I need to put my foot down more around here. emoticon

Mari, you are a hard worker. I can just see those muscles now. All these accents! Our son lives in Alabama and his wife and daughter really have southern accents. Another friend is in England and she has a definite accent too. Hope your weather holds for you Susan so you can get out to the concert. Congrats on the great weight loss. You Go Girl!! I have a very strong TX accent. My oldest horse is named Khal which is pronounced like Cal but people think I'm calling his Cow. emoticon Not sure that's a TX accent though, just might be bad enunciation. emoticon

Marilyn I call those "sneaky workouts" when you are doing work that needs done and getting your fitness in at the same time. So nice that you could enjoy the time with R constructively.

Pat that bush sounds beautiful. You are very special to her.

Yes, John is a nice gentleman. We were talking about going to an outdoor concert together tonight, but now we are looking at thunderstorm warnings so maybe not.

As for the weigh in - I was the TOP loser of the night emoticon After the meeting I had dinner with the leader who is also a friend of mine. I had hot roast beef with mashed potatoes, corn and cole slaw. I still had quite a few weekly points left after dinner.

Apparently I still have a bit of my Pennsylvania accent. I was telling them I bought my notebook at Ollie's and that I got my Greek Yogurt at Aldi's, but to them, it sounds like the same store LOL!

Jo have fun at your "fun day"

Callie hope all is well and peaceful with you.

Shell we miss you!

Oh Pat, that is so sweet. It's wonderful what you do for her and it's wonderful that it means so much to her. That's a very special bush. emoticon

R and I worked on the barn again. We were both on tall ladders, holding boards, and drilling through steel and it wore me out. It's hot outside although I was in our shady, breezy barn and it's humid and I about croaked by the time we were finished for the day. "Construction" work is hard work and is actually exercise...I know my heart rate got up at times, for a long time. Also, having to balance on the ladders, run the drill, hold heavy boards, all those things require you to be in good shape. I'm going to be sore tomorrow.

But!!! even though R is going to work tomorrow, we are going to work in the barn again, in the morning. We are on a good roll and want to get as much done as possible. What we are doing can't be done when we have our high winds (which is usually), so we are trying to make good use the the calmer days we are having.

I KNOW I'm going to sleep good tonight! emoticon

Hello!!! Sounds like John is a nice guy Susan. Glad you have found a nice friend to go places with. It was cooler here today and was able to open the house up so it got a good airing out. Of course our cat went crazy going from window to window . A elderly neighbor who we take to church every Sunday stopped by today with a beautiful flowering bush. I was so surprised ,bless her dear heart. She said she wanted to thank us in a special way so she got her son in law to get us this lovely bush. When I told her how much it meant to us she started crying bless her dear heart. We have the sweetest neighbors. Such a blessing. Susan hope your weigh in was a great one! Callie, you behave now. Hugs to all. Pat

Good Morning!

Callie that is a lovely picture and will look great on note cards!

Pat- John is the owner of the hot rod I went for a ride in at the cruise on Saturday. He's a member of the Singles Group I belong to. After Niagara Falls we will be in the Pittsburgh area for a few days before returning to Michigan.

It's weigh in night at TOPS for me tonight. It's been a good week on plan and I will see a loss at the scale.

Last night I treated myself to an individual serving size of rice pudding from Aldi. It was creamy, delicious and just the right amount. I only bought one, so no worry of overdroing it and I had WW points available to cover it easily.

My house is being power washed while I'm at work today, so I will be bringing lunch from home to eat there. The same guy power washes my house every year and does a great job, no need for me to be here to watch the process.

Have a lovely day everyone!

Susan

Hi ALL

Susan your trip to Niagra Falls and Canda sounds cheap AND fantastic.

I am doing well. I have been busy doing that 2 year court report for my special sister. It was actually due march 31 but since I HATE doing it so much ..I have gotten a threatening letter form the courts that I had better get it in by this Friday. Oh, well......I will e working on it all day tomorrow.

Marilyn, I am so happy that you and R are having some time together without a lot of appointments. ENJOY!!! emoticon

Pat...I clean as well...but doing it at that time of a/m would not be something I would do. I would be on the internet or scrapbooking. emoticon

JoAnn...how ya doing? I saw you "peep in" hope you are doing well.

Shell...how is everything in "your" world?

I ordered 50 pics from Walgreens and will make my grson a small scrapbook of our weekend. We are going again this Saturday with our daughter, Matthew and a friend of his. We can only go for 2 days as that is all she can be away .

This is a picture I took and will make note cards with them. The flags were given to me and I was standing by these flowers . While I was waiting for the parade ...I had the idea for this patriotic picture.

R and I really like these very rare times when he has three days off with nothing to do. It might have been a year when R hasn't had something that takes up at least one of his days off.

We are getting ready to walk/bike together now. emoticon

Pat I also clean when I am stressing. It's a habit I learned from my Mom. My cats would have been up helping. Last night they took turns waking me up and I realize a kitten is very, very much like a toddler. She wants to play when she should be sleeping LOL!

Marilyn - A mini-staycation with time for you and R to spend together sounds delightful!

Jo- I know you're super busy with work. We'll catch up with you when things slow down.

Sheila, Shell, Callie- Keeping you all in my positive thoughts.

A funny thing that happened on the cruise Saturday. When John stopped for gas he showed me the gas cap he had custom made out of an old California license plate. He said he had lost his original gas cap at this very same gas station two years before after a different cruise. When we got back to the starting point of the cruise a half hour later, he realized he had driven off "again" and lost this gas cap too! We got in my car to retrace the route and couldn't find it. I think maybe he needs to try another gas station next time :)

I found a matching gas cap on Amazon that I got free with my credit card points and will surprise him with it when it arrives. He is already making a new custom one. This one can be a spare to keep in the trunk for the next time LOL!

Work is exhausting right now and I'm not sleeping well. On a happier note, my sister and I are planning our September vacation together. I found a Groupon for two nights in Niagara Falls, Canada for $55 per night which includes $30 dinner voucher, $20 lunch voucher and $10 breakfast voucher each day, along with a winery tour and something called Chocolate FX. She has never been to Niagara Falls. I've been there once, 36 years ago.

From there we will cross back over to the US side, travel along upper New York into Pennsylvania near Erie, and then down to the Pittsburgh area to spend 3 nights with family there before heading home.

In August we are going to an Amish area in Indiana overnight for my wedding anniversary. Her job is to keep me distracted that day.

I've done well staying on plan since Friday. Each day I write a little positive message at the top of my journal page that I write down what I ate on. So far, it's helping.

Off to work I go now. Have a lovely day my friends!

Robert and I had a good day, getting things done around here. He had today off and also Wed and Thurs and for the first time in months we have nothing on the calendar for those three days. No doc, vet, dentist, car, truck, hay appts. So we are using these days to walk/bike together and work on the property and relax. It's so nice for R to have some real time off with no where to go.

I'm getting up early in the morning to lift weights and then I'll walk 5 miles while R bikes with me. Then we are going to do a big barn repair that we've wanted to do for a long time but other things needed to be done instead.

Can you imagine us being around Susan and Callie. They are party girls! emoticon emoticon

Don't worry be happy, Sing it with me Mari!! Stress is Horrible for you and so bad for your health. Believe me Robert knows how you feel. Positive thinking goes a long way. Let's hope he wakes up on the Right Side of the Bed!!! lol. For some reason I could not sleep last night. So I decided to clean!!! At three A.M. Max, our cat was not happy with me. My hubby slept through it all. No, I was not jealous well maybe a little. I always thank God that I am not working so I can sleep in if need be. I'll be back tomorrow to really "visit" but I still wanted to check in so you guys don't worry about me (or Robert). Still waiting to hear results of his last test and pretending not to feel stressed about them. emoticon R is doing very well and staying as busy as ever. We've been doing a lot of research together on our health issues. My Hashimoto's disease is an autoimmune disease too and now that I'm learning so much about R's problem, I'm realizing that I need to be sure to address my Hashimoto's more than I have done in the past. It looks like by helping R with making his diet better, I can help myself feel better by the changes we are making.

Sleep well everybody! emoticon

Callie it sounds like you had fun at Goodwill together. I look forward to seeing a picture of your framed picture!

I have had a completely awesome weekend. First a very nice date and ride in a race car at the cruise, then four hours of Improv class with tons of infectious laughter and I always get a kick out of when something I do onstage causes them to crack up. The troupe went to TGI Friday's afterwards. I was prepared. I had looked up the nutritional information this morning and knew exactly what I would order without opening the menu. I am trying to plan meals in advance, even if that means just figuring out right before I eat it. I've had a good few days back on plan and feel more in control.

I bought these 100 calorie multigrain flatbreads at Aldi a couple of days ago. I had been making rollup sandwiches with them, but just like hot dogs and buns, lean lunchmeat doesn't come with enough in the package to use all the flatbreads. I had the last one tonight with a teaspoon of peanut butter rolled up inside it. It was a tasty snack.

I...we didn`t go to the dessert send off after all. D made the decision and he didn`t say why. That was Ok with me as I didn`t think all the noise would have been good for him. We wne to Goodwill 50% off day. He bought 3 books, I bout 20 X 24 poster frame that we needed for a poster that we got in Williams. D found it...someone had traveled route 66 and took pictures of entry doors all along the route. We did get it framed today and it looks pretty good.

D is taking a snooze and I am glad because he is a little agitated. He is getting more childish in his ways and it isn`t easy to handle. I hope the nap helps him.

We will go back to church services this evening as the teens went to camp last week and will be giving us a report.

Marilyn...you and R are in my prayers.

Pat....I love visiting with my daughter.

Susan...good afternoon. I can just see you riding along in that car ... and wish I could see you at one of your Improvs. That would be too funny

Good Evening Everyone! Callie, dessert oh my what a challenge not to over indulge. I can droll just thinking about them! lol. Went to church this morning then to the library to take some books back. Had some lunch then visited with our youngest daughter. Stopped at the food store on the way home so it has been a busy day. Hoping to get to bed early as I have been staying up too late. Callie, glad you had a nice visit with your friends and he and David got along so well. Susan, you are going to have a long haul working. Hope you get good rest at night. Mari, hope news from testing on Robert is good news. Been praying hard for you two!! Hugs to all. Pat

Good Morning from me and my emoticon again emoticon

Callie it seems this old friend also benefits from being around you and D. I completely understand your thoughts around family as we never had children.

Marilyn that is quite a lot of rain in a short time span! Sammy and company must love their troughs filled with fresh rainwater though.

I had a marvelous time at the Michigan Avenue cruise. I called my friend when I left work and he met me there with his "rat rod". A rat rod is a car from the 70's or 80's that has been tweaked to resemble hot rods of the 50's and 60's. His is a 1978 Mercury Bob Cat and I'm not enough of a car geek to understand the rest of how it's souped up to be used as a race car. He did used to race it at a local track.

I can now officially say I know how to fasten a race car seat belt though. After doing two loops around the cruise we parked and hopped in my car so his engine could cool down, and headed to a local restaurant for lunch. Then came back and set up our camp chairs to watch the cruise and chat. It wasn't until the mosquitoes starting biting that I realized it was close to 8:30 PM and time for me to head home. The time had flown by!

Today is my trilogy of Improv Sunday. I have a professional instructor led class at 11 AM following by my bi-weekly usual workshop at 1 PM and then some of the troupe will go out to dinner at TGI Fridays at 3:30 PM.

This morning once it's light enough I need to weed the flower beds before getting ready for all the laughs and good times my Improv Sunday always brings.

Starting tomorrow I will be working 13 consecutive days without a break, so I am definitely looking forward to enjoying this day! Next weekend after work on Saturday, I am working at Roar on the River, hydroplane races that are sponsored by my employer. I will be back there again Sunday working the beverage tent.

That's all for now (and it's quite a lot)

Onward & Downward! emoticon

Callie, I'm very glad you have this friend in your life and I think you will be good for him too. emoticon

Susan, you have been getting things done with work and working out and everything else. You deserve to get to play on the internet. emoticon

R had his 8th infusion this morning (his 3rd weekly treatment) and is now at work. We'll get the results of his electromagnetic tests next week. R continues with his good eating ways while adding in more good nutritional foods. He's also doing exercises for his feet, even though no doctor has prescribed them. We are all about being proactive and we are doing everything we can to help his circulation in his feet. emoticon

We have had 3 inches of rain now, this week...that's ton when 5 inches can be the total for the year. More is coming our way! emoticon

Good a/m Susan....I am sure you enjoyed your emoticon and I will enjoy my diet emoticon emoticon

I have a dessert potluck to go to tonite. It is a send off for a lovely young family of 7. Not looking forward to it because desserts are my down fall. No suggestions needed emoticon because none works emoticon .

Our visit with our past friend went VERY well. We chatted all the time and we remembered so many things. He has a very sharp memory and brought things up that I didn`t remember. He is 40 and could be like a son. David enjoyed him ALOT and we even invited him to go up to our cabin. He is not married but has been 2X and has 5 kids. ...all under 9...with 2 ex wives. He is on disability due to deep depression....since age 24. He has said several times "I love you both". Hard for me to say that back because I am not use to saying it "just because". Some people say it very loosely. I know he cares for us because we seemed to have been a big part of his childhood of which I don`t remember that. He wrote D a very nice letter of those memories and put it in a book he loaned him. He told me if there was anything he could do to help with D just let him know. I guess his best area is landscaping. Right now, D prides himself that he can still do that. But so nice for the offer.

We had 2 daughters, only because that is all we wanted. I have made a statement lately about wishing I had more children. Someone said..."Oh, you are feeling the empty nest". No...I would love to have more family around to help me in this journey. It is hard to ask others to help and can`t most times because D wouldn`t accept it. I would love to have family around for dinners, etc.

Anyway.....just a future thought with this past friend coming into our lives that he could be such a blessing in future times.

Need to go get some house chores done.

Hope you are all doing well. emoticon

emoticon Good Morning!

I don't have to be at work until 10:30 today. I've had breakfast, rode the bike, and then lazed around and played internet games for an hour. Time to hit the shower and get dressed.

Going to the Michigan Avenue cruise after work, might get a ride in a friend's hot rod! :)

Callie you owe us no apologies. It is nice to be missed though :)

Onward & Downward!

I am sneeking in with my head down because I have not posted.

Yes..we decided to stay a few more days because it was so beautiful at the cabin. Loved having my grson with us and the weather was perfect. So, green and cool....highs of low 70s. Why did we need to get back home just to swelter in the heat???

Got back Wed. afternoon....UGH 105 when we arrived and no clouds in sight.

From my lack of caring what I ate...I feel so bloated...but I didn`t eat the amounts I could have.

Today is a fresh start.

emoticon for missing me.

Susan....good for you fro joining TOPS. I am very familiar with that organization and was in it for about 30 years....off and on...mostly on. I was every position except treasurer. I loved being the leader and was contest chairman when I had to quit due to David`s health. Would love to go back but David`s a/ms are not the easiest. Maybe I can go to an evening chapter but he probably won`t be allowed to go and not be a member. He does not need to lose any more weight. In fact, I sabotage him sometimes as I want a few pounds on him. But, he is diligent about staying about 177.

Marilyn.....I also am impressed with your continuous exercising....I am having a terrible time with the heat. No interest to move any more than I need to.

Pat....here I am... emoticon for missing me.....the cabin was wonderful.

JoAnn....your little time away sounds fun.

Shell.....How are you?

Sheila.....so happy that you are back with us.

We are having a visit today, from an "in the past" friend. He is actually a son of our deceased friend ho we have not seen in 25 years. We connected up on FB. He is coming about 10:00.so I will need to get to the grocery store for drinks and food. I needed to go yesterday but it was so nice to do nothing.

Grson was a joy to have and we took him home yesterday. emoticon

will check in later. emoticon

Gary's Botox injections for his spasmodic torticollis used to be delivered via a surgical needle attached to an EMG, twenty to thirty at a time. They had to turn the lights off in the room as it caused electrical interference with the readout on the machine.

GRRRR at doctor's who don't show up!

So far today I awoke an hour before the alarm, got in some time on my bike, paid bills, have laundry going and enjoying my second cup of hazelnut coffee along with my peanut butter oatmeal at 6:30 AM.

Callie we miss you! Hope all is well!

Susan, all those things are good and we win at the petting a pet. emoticon Golly gee on the wrong results! Glad they were wrong emoticon

Callie, we miss you! emoticon

Jo-Ann, I actually tried to toe the line for a couple of months before my blood work...didn't always manage to do the greatest but I know I did make things better with the successes that I had. I stress over all my doctor appts...esp when I'm being "tested" in any way. Grr on the boss taking away T's long time off. emoticon

Pat, have a good night! emoticon

Sheila, keep moving!!!! I'll keep moving too. emoticon emoticon

Tomorrow R and I start drinking Blaggs Apple Cider Vinegar with the MOTHER, three times a day. emoticon emoticon

Today R had his big tests. The tests are EMG (electromyography - tests muscle health and the health of the nerves that control muscles) to test muscle reactions and NCV (nerve conduction velocity - to test the speed at which electrical signals pass through a nerve ) to test how well his nerves work.

Things went well except for the doctor being 3 hours late. At least he showed up, unlike last week when he didn't come in at all, for these very important tests. We'll know the results next week.

My TOPS lesson tonight....

Ways to Influence a Positive Day

1. Give yourself a Pep Talk

2. Reach Out to Others

3. Say something nice to someone

4. Escape through a good book

5. Smile

6. Have a massage ( or other pampering)

7. Avoid alcohol

8. Pet a pet

9. Go outside and breathe the air

10. Allow your own spirituality to brighten your day

# 7 & 8 are automatic for me. I will work on a couple of others throughout the week this week.

Jo enjoy the mini vacation despite T's boss cutting it short. Sounds like a great plan to do the labwork ahead of time. I wish my doctor did that as then the results are in before you see them in person instead of calling afterwards for results.

Pat I saw Callie posted on FB this evening so she may have just got back. Welcome back Callie!

Well I had a scare at lunch time. I got the email of my mammogram results saying there was a "benign abnormality" that is probably not cancer but should be tested again in 6 months and also follow up with my physician in case he wanted to do additional tests to rule out cancer. I was in the middle of lunch out with a business partner when the e-mail came across my phone (he had gone to the rest room at the time) so I had to wait until I got back to work to call them for more details. They told me my results were normal ! Praise God for that!

They had clicked "the wrong button" on the email and it spit out a false report. YIKES! They have now emailed me an actual copy of the lab report showing all is normal but I think I aged ten years in that 45 minutes.

I did join TOPS tonight and reconnected with the ladies there. I will be counting my WW points and attending the weekly meetings for additional accountability and support.

I wasn't crazy about the number on the scale, but I know where it came from and it can be a smaller number next week.

Onward and definitely Downward!

Where is Callie!!! She was suppose to be back on Tuesday from the cabin! Maybe as it is cooler there she decided to stay longer! Was quite warm today but a decent breeze which makes it more bearable. Suppose to get some bad T storms tonight. I plan to go to bed early as I have been staying up really late to watch baseball and it is catching up on me. I am really tired tonight! Susan, saw a little striped kitty arm so I found your little kitty! They are such a comfort aren't they.

Kid classes are going fine.
Adult water exercise classes are going fine.
Day job is going fine--met some big deadlines yesterday.

I have tomorrow off. I'm going for annual labwork early, going to try to squeeze in a swim at another Y, then home to get ready for a short but rare mini-vacation with T.

We will drive to Maine, stay overnight in a motel (nothing glamorous), then day-trip to a history club activity and see lots of friends there. We will both be speaking on behalf of a friend who will receive a nice award there. Unfortunately we have to leave and drive home right after the ceremony on Saturday night, because T's boss is making him be at work early Sunday morning. (He had cleared this rare long weekend plan with her in advance, and I booked 2nd night at motel. We'd planned on a leisurely trip home Sunday. Then she changed her mind. Grrrr.) But we will make the most of the time we do have.

The reason I am getting my labwork done is that even though the appointment for my physical isn't for a few more weeks, I will have a large number of food "danger zones" before then.

We will eat out this weekend, I have a company barbecue and also a company "fun day" outing coming up soon after that. T has a birthday soon. We have long road trips during our vacation. I will work hard at being good, but I know I will face many different forms of temptations. I am working on some strategies to cope with them.

My weight is good, and I've been staying on track pretty well. But I do not trust myself to "be good" and not mess up my labwork with a couple of over-indulgences between now and then. I was getting very stressed about it. I think it is a weird "perfection" thing. I know I will be very physically active during this time. Knowing I have to "weigh in" right after vacation will definitely help keep me in check. But I still don't trust myself...

Good Morning!

Here we all are sitting on the sofa while I spend twenty minutes on the laptop. You have to look close to pick Magic out on my black top LOL! Her ears are just under my chin. She is growing fast!

Ladies thank you for your love and support. It does help! I'm not overly worrying about displacement as my years of service would give me 40 weeks of severance including full benefits. I also have been unhappy in my current role so this could very well be a blessing in disquise.

It rained most of the night and is raining now. Everything is still lush and green, rare for this time of year here.

I had my mammogram yesterday morning. Tonight I am rejoining TOPS - Take Off Pounds Sensibly. I belonged to this group for a few years from 1999-2001 and have maintained friendships with many of the former members. They recently relocated to a larger facility and I think having a weekly meeting may help me stay more focused than online tracking only. I will still be following my WW points plan.

Time for a second cup of coffee this morning if I can get the kitties to allow me to move.

Enjoy your day all!

Joann, Great advise!! I am feeling so much better since I got off my one medication. Leg pain is almost completely gone! So thankful. Susan, sorry you went through a rough patch at the doctors. It is not surprising and very naturally. Crying can be a part of the healing process. Sending you loving hugs. It was a real hot day today. Suppose to have some major storms tomorrow to break the humidity. I have been asked out to lunch with some friends but I told them it will depend on the weather as I do not drive in the rain anymore. Hey Mari and Callie, Shell and the wonderful white dog lady. I am Terrible with names!!! Sorry. May we all sleep well tonight! Hugs to all.

Sheila, just saw your note about putting off moving. It took me a long time, but somehow I turned myself into someone who exercises every day. Just starting with one small thing and adding to it every week is a good way to make it a habit. Could you find some ways to make you enjoy the treadmill more? (watch a movie or something fun, like a tour of an exotic sport or location set to music?) Maybe reward yourself for getting on the treadmill a certain amount of time 3 days a week. Either increase the time or add another day after a week or two, and plan for another reward, and so on...

Oh Susan, I know what you mean about unpredictable waterworks. That has happened to me over loss of family members. It still pops up now and then. I'm sorry you have to go through that, and also worry about being displaced this fall.

The good news, is that you have freshly updated skills and work experience, and have made a lot of good connections.

Hugs to you!

Aw Susan, I know it's going to be difficult for a long time...moments will hit you when you start crying. emoticon

We often get barely more than 5 inches of rain a YEAR. And we rarely get rain so when we get it, it often is a deluge. Today we got 1.25 inches of rain in 30 minutes. The ground couldn't absorb it fast enough so we had flash flooding. Our place can handle this since we are prepared...the first year we lived here a flash flood knocked down a line of our fence but that area has been redone with telephone poles for fence posts and lots to cement.

We were tromping around in water that was almost knee deep, after the rain. emoticon

Checking in and catching up on threads. Had my annual woman care exam this morning and mammo tomorrow morning before work. BP was high at the doctor's this morning--white coat fever. When the gyno asked what's new since last year I started to cry sharing the "I'm a new widow" story.

She hugged me at the end. This widow thing sure is unpredictable. I was ok by the time I left. Just never know when the waterworks will start.

Still working 6 days a week, for now. It was announced this week that a nearby branch is closing/consolidating into ours and some of the employees may be displaced. I'll find out at the end of September if I am one of them.

For now, business as usual.

Marilyn thank goodness for R's quick thinking to free Milly goat!

Callie, how was the cabin?

Pat I hope you are feeling a little better now.
