Gray, and 93 percent humidity right this minute. Thankfully it isn't hot. We had a couple of thunderstorms yesterday, but not bad enough to shut computer down and stop working.

I'm glad R could b with you for your appointment, Marilyn!

Glad the project is going better than expected. I know the questions are for your job but sometimes it's nice to be NOT connected to email/text/phones emoticon

Luckily we found shade to park under and the wind was over 30 mph...but we had to have the car windows and doors open while we waited 25 minutes. I would not have liked that if R weren't with me...I don't sit in parking lots with my doors open and windows open, by myself.

The farrier moved his afternoon appt to in the morning, which will be better.

Pretty worn out because R and I are doing so much but we are getting a lot of things done.

OMG, that sounds miserably hot. Uggh. Wishing you all the best with your doctor visits. That is how all the appointments are here, too.

I have someone helping with my project (She's in TN, I am in MA). She is delightful and very sharp, but sends me questions about every 2 minutes... Sometimes I get so busy trying to keep up with answering her that it makes me slower emoticon

Pace yourself and know I'll be here when you've finished with those deadlines.

Today was 110 and tomorrow will be 111...the farrier was coming this morning but had to cancel and will be coming a 3pm tomorrow...I'm so glad that R is here because I'm having such trouble with the heat. I don't think I could handle the horses and being out in that heat tomorrow afternoon, by myself.

It's been 6 months since my cancer surgery and I have a follow up with the doctor tomorrow also. They said when we get there we have to call them and then wait in the car until our appt and it's going to be 111 degrees tomorrow. emoticon

Once again, so glad R is here.

Having lots more hot and sticky weather here, may get thunderstorms this afternoon. I'm sitting with a fan blowing on my legs, so not too uncomfortable.

I have some crazy work deadlines this week and next, will stop by when I can.

Today was 100 (still 97), with a heat index of 109 emoticon

At midnight it has still been in the 80s.

I love my AC!

I haven't been sleeping very well but will sleep better once R can be here all the time. I have to get up in the middle of the night to let the dogs out but with R here, he will go to bed before I do and then get up much earlier so I can sleep through the night.

Appraiser was coming on Friday and now he MIGHT come of Sat...I can't wait until our old house is appraised.

So far today, the weather is nicer than I expected. 84 with a RealFeel of 90, and 67 percent humidity. I'm happy to stay in the shade and drink lots of water, but not uncomfortable. Hooray! I always picture that it will be much worse. We had a big thunderstorm just after supper last night. The thunderbooms put me right to sleep! I had a long, unexpected nap, probably because I hadn't slept very well the night before.

I kill them with a long handled hoe but that's risky because they have a long reach. I need to find a better, safer way to kill them.

R is here and the humidity is getting to him, too (it's already gotten to me, I think I'll be hot forever). I'm so thankful for our ceiling fans and AC.

We have been really happy with our $36 water bill lately but R just talked to the water dept and they said our meter must be broken because that's the base rate, if you use no water. The lady said they would probably have to absorb what they didn't charge us, over the last six months but from now on our water bill will be at least $86 or more.

I'm wouldn't even know how to find someone to help out here and feel like it's safer for our animals if I do the work. Not to mention that COVID is raging here in TX I don't need anyone coming on our property...it's a safe zone if I don't let anyone come on the property and I want to keep it that way.

Hopefully R will be here for good, in the not too distant future.

Stay cool and safe! emoticon

It is soo hot today. Went to morning Mass then came home and stripped down to just a shift . Have all the shades down to keep the sun out. Thanking God for central air conditioning and ceiling fans. Suppose to be high humidity and hot all this week. So thankful I do not have to go anywhere. How did you kill that rattle snake Mari? I would have been scared to death if I heard that rattle. Sounds like you are working too hard . Is there any way you could hire a local teenage boy to help you out? Keep safe and stay cool everyone. Sending hugs to you and Jo-Ann.

Sammy has a pool year round and he'll even get into when it's pretty cold. He also likes to be out in the rain.

I'm wearing myself out here, in the heat. Today Dale brought me some fried chicken (who cares if it's not healthy, I ate it up!) and cantaloupe, corn on the cob, squash, cherries, and grapes from the farmers market..the chicken, grapes and cherries made for a very tasty and easy lunch for me.

We could use some clouds and rain.

Glad you are feeling better JoAnn! Here we have day after day of extremely hot temps, with humidity, which makes the heat index about 10 degrees hotter. Our weather maps keeps saying a heat advisory is in effect. I spent a long time hosing Sammy off, which he loves. His pen does have big shade trees and he has his water trough that allows him to lay down in it, so he's handling the heat just fine.

That heat sounds awful, Marilyn! It is still 97 percent humidity here, but only 65 degrees right now. Today is supposed to be stormy, but after that some of the humidity is supposed to go away... I actually slept better last night. T didn't snore as much, and my head wasn't stuffy, and I actually slept through the night, very rare for me. I haven't finished my morning coffee yet, but I am feeling so much perkier today :-)

I can stay awake all night if R gets into one of his snoring fits. I have to take my pillow to another room so I can sleep, which I don't mind, at all. Also, when I am having trouble sleeping, I get up all through the night for bathroom breaks...I think nerves cause me to do that.

We are having severe heat warnings...over 100 degrees with an added 10 degrees to the heat index and it's going to be like that for the rest of the week. I'll be in and out checking the animals during all of this. I'd love if we'd get rain, it's so hot and humid.

Good luck with your project.

It is another gray, humid day here. It is only 65 degrees, but 97 percent humidity. Sticky. It rained some in the night, so that should help some with our drought.

I have a big work project that was delayed getting to me. And so, now everyone is eager for me to finish it, even though I got it late. So I am cranking away on it.

Last night was one of those "I can't sleep nights". Just as I was about to drop off, a skunk sprayed outside, very, very stinky. Then, I had to get up several times to tinkle, very unusual for me to be up and down so many times (probably due to water retention and the humidity). And then T apparently perfected a crazy loud snore that is something like a cross between an annoyed bison and Scrooge McDuck. Sheesh.

Hopefully my coffee will start to kick in soon! emoticon

Confession time ladies!!! I have been eating tooo much. Gained five pounds. Yikes. My granddaughter was here this week she loves to bake, It has been really humid so I have to stay in for the most part. Trying to listen to music I can dance to and marching around the house. A dear friend of mine is dying of cancer. Really miss not being able to see her. Praying that the Lord has mercy and lets her die in her sleep.

Another morning with 97 percent humidity, but not too hot so far. Yesterday, the humidity went down some, then it remained overcast so it didn't get too hot most of the day. (When the sun comes out, things get steamier and stickier.) I hope today goes the same way!

This house would need it's screens replaced before we could open the windows but I get so much outdoor air that I don't mind not opening them. Plus, with wind would blow dust into the house, so like Pat, I do better with the windows closed. Love our AC though!

Pat, I had thought your cat that passed was an only cat. I'm so glad you got the two orange kitties. They are so good for your mental and emotional health...pets make us smile and laugh.

R has scooped the horse shelter area while he was here but he left early this morning so I had to do it and it really does make me feel good to work hard like that, even in the sweltering heat. I just have to be very careful, because it's just going to get hotter from here on out.

Pat, I didn't realize you still had any cats since one of yours passed away. Tell us about them emoticon

All the animals are so happy here. The formerly feral cats have a really big room with ceiling fans (and AC) and windows and things to climb on and hide in...so much room to run around. The dogs love their yard with trees and squirrels!!!! Sammy and Milly Goat like their areas and the horses have trees, with lots of shade and two big pastures.

I rested, sort of, with R here, since he did most of the heavy work but I'm still worn out because we spend so much time at the Nissan dealership...HOURS! Our little Chevy Spark has 170,000 miles on it so we needed to get R a new car for his 1000 mile round trips. We bought a brand new 2019 Nissan Sentra and now I won't worry so much as he drives back and forth.

Hi, checking up on everyone!! Gorgeous weather the last two days . In the low 70's great refreshing breezes and no humidity. Fran and I drove to Penna. Dutchland where we stopped at a stand where there were no other customers so we stopped put our masks on and got some beautiful strawberries, blue berries, tomatoes ,mushrooms. Fran picked up a blueberry crumb pie which I told him he would eat it All himself. I picked up some whoppie pies both chocolate and pumpkin for our youngest daughter who loves them. They are the little ones in a pkg of three each kind. She is the one picks up all our food for us so this is one way to thank her.

Pat!!!!!!!!!!! Big hugs emoticon

JoAnn, I think you are making the right decision to not teach at the Y yet. This thing is not over and it's ramping up again. Here in the Abilene area, it's not as bad a most places...we did have some days with no new cases but this week we are having a new case or two a day. El Paso never really stopped socializing so their numbers are still high every single day.

I checked the internet and for my bangs, I twisted them tightly, in front of my face and then cut across...that gave me feathered bangs...I'm going to do that from now on. Then I did the rest of my hair. I pulled my hair into a ponytail in front of my forehead...kind of made my hair look like a unicorn horn. Then I cut across the ends and that gave me some layers...now I'm happy because my hair is lighter and not weighing me down but it's still a shoulder length cut with layers.

I'll probably do this from now on. I'm very hermit-y and have trouble going to the hairdresser because THEY TOUCH ME!!!! emoticon So now I don't have to be touched. emoticon

We are going to replace our little Chevy Spark, which we love, but has 170,000 miles on it and R does not need to be driving it through the mountains and 100+ heat to visit me so Monday we will go test drive a new Nissan Sentra. The appraisal of our old house is still in a log jam so we have no idea when we'll be able to close on it. If R could just move here now, we'd keep our Spark for many more years.

Cases are slowing down, but still on the rise here, Pat. My city (and others nearby) are on the state list of worst hotspots.

I totally agree with you Jo Anne. I got my hair cut last week. You had to wait in your car and they would call you on your cell when you can come in. They immediately wiped the door down and there were only three other customers spaced ever four seats all of us with masks on. I felt very safe and was so glad to get my much needed haircut. We are not going to the food stores or doing any shopping whatsoever. I thank God for our daughters who are doing all our shopping and are extremely careful themselves .

My Y will be reopening with limitations at the end of the month, reduced hours, reduced water ex. class size, etc. But this is one of the hotspots in the country, and the areas around me are still some of the worst in the state, with cases slowing down a little but still rising. I told them I am not ready to come back yet, it is too early. I really miss the pool and the people, but I think things are reopening too quickly.

I know one crazy trick for cutting hair straight. When I had bangs as a kid, my mother was terrible at cutting them so I decided I would do it myself. If you carefully put a piece of Scotch tape across, just below where you want to cut, you can use that as a guide. It worked every time. These days, I bet there are all sorts of tips on the internet and youtube. The funny thing is I haven't cut my hair in many, many years. I braid it and put it in a bun.

The toilet has been installed and we really like this plumber. He installed the same toilet and put in a new shut off valve just like another plumber (and his two helpers) did last fall, and he charged us $130 while the other plumber charged us $315. Nothing I could do about the other plumber's high price but know that I would never call him again.

The plumber today will be our plumber from now on and we had a lot of fun visiting...he used to be a rodeo clown, he has really bad knees like R and I do, just all kinds of fun things to discuss. We are going to have him come back soon to lay water lines from what we have now to the horse area so I'm not running long, heavy hose with I fill the troughs every 3 or 4 days.

Happy Monday! The garden sounds great, Marilyn. We have some pretty pink roses that smell nice, and a few dark red roses that are lovely but don't have much scent. There's one more rose bush that will bloom later. Most of the flowering trees and shrubs are done now, but there's still a lot of pollen in the air.

Hoping the plumber makes it tomorrow. It's sweltering here...holy heatstroke Batman!!!

I now have 6 cherry tomatoes growing on my tomato plant and my 4 potato plants are looking good. The radishes and cucumbers I planted in Dale's garden are doing well...I've been eating the radishes. Turnips should be ready soon and those will be a treat for the horses and Milly Goat.

Now the plumber is going to try to get here on Monday...it'll be so nice when the old toilet is replaced because makes noises and the parts are so old that it can't be fixed.

Our weather is supposed to be 100 degrees for the next week with nary a cloud. emoticon

I use a little program now that will put the scanned copies in a scanned copy folder...it also lets me name the pages as I scan them so they aren't named a long string of numbers...that program saved my sanity.

Have a wonderful weekend, too!

This scanner is very different from the one I use at work. I would not recommend me as an IT department, lol. Often your scanned copies go into Pictures folder or Documents folder.

The gov't is going to get part of stimulus money back when we pay our taxes. Woohoo!

2 weeks of Farm Fit Extra!

Yay for plumbers and toilets!

Have a great weekend!

I'm the printer/scanner person here, JoAnn and almost every time I have to use the scanner it's like I have to learn how to use it all over again. The hardest part of using the scanner for me is finding where the scanned copies are on my computer. emoticon Hope all goes well and hooray for getting your stimulus funds...go buy stuff...ha ha

R leaves at 4am and then I have two weeks doing everything myself again. It's quite a balancing act but I'll just focus on the day he's going to get back here.

I have 3 little tomatoes on my tomato plant, my 4 potato plants are doing good, I have some turnips growing and the radishes I planted at Dale's have produced radishes...I'm a farmer!

A plumber is going to try to be here tomorrow or Tuesday to install our new toilet.

You are rocking the Farm Fit workouts, Marilyn! Yay for good reports from the doctor.

My stimulus money transfer went through correctly, hooray!

We have a combination printer/scanner, but I don't think we have ever used the scanner. T needs to use it tonight for some legal paperwork. I tried it this morning, but didn't have any luck. Hopefully it is just some setting that needs to be adjusted. Stuff like this makes me really tense, but I am better at it than T. But I did find the instructions that came with it. I'll read and try to work my way through it. Uggh.

emoticon about the zombies!

R and I have done our taxes with direct deposit for years so everything happened smoothly for us, without us having to do a thing. What a mess for everyone else...I hope it all went through ok, for you.

I've lost weight without trying and my blood pressure and pulse were a healthy low...I've never had to take meds for them but worked at making sure I didn't...now those things are even lower. Got my bloodwork results today and they are stellar, best in decades. So all this hard work is paying off (if it doesn't kill me). I'm so worn out.

My thyroid med dose does need to be lowered because it's a bit too high now...being too high can cause problems sleeping (which I've been having) and can cause tiredness...I'm hoping once I get settled on the new dose, I'll be sleeping better because I really do need a good night's sleep with all the work I'm doing.

I can't even get my 10,000 steps in because I'm working so hard but I know the actual work I'm doing must be as good as lifting weights and walking...my results show that. Still, I can't wait until R is here for good and I can use the treadmill and my weights instead...I'm feeling overdone with my FarmFit workouts emoticon

Hope you made it safely past all the zombies on your way to and from your appointment, Marilyn!

We got what looked like a spam debit card in the mail. It turned out to be our federal stimulus money. If they didn't have a direct deposit bank account for you, they sent it this way. Lots of people have been throwing them out because they don't seem legit and government said they were mailing checks. I'm not sure why, but they are getting the names wrong in many cases. T's last name got changed to mine! They listed him as the primary name on account with the incorrect name. I'm not sure what information the government shared, how or why. Sheesh.

Anyway, once I decided not to throw it out until I verified, it took me an additional hour to activate the card, open an account, figure out how to transfer it to my account (if you don't do it a certain way, there are unreasonable fees charged and it involves complicated process to withdraw in several increments, multiple trips to a bank....)

Now I just need to check back later to make sure the transfer shows up in the bank account.
Feels like I put in a full day of "work" and I'm just starting!

R did the same thing with his ortho doc, who we really liked...he'd take the first appt of the day but the doctor would get there 2 hours late every single time emoticon

I've learned to tread carefully around here because these cowboys don't want to be nagged. The first guy we had coming to give an estimate for our porch hadn't showed up after two hours so R texted him about his status, very kindly, and the guy went ballistic on text. Needless to say, we didn't reschedule. emoticon

Jobs are plentiful around here so I think it's easy for workers to be lax because they have more than enough work...this farrier is a nice guy and he's warmed up to me so things might get better...I just don't want to burn this bridge too soon. emoticon

I'm glad the farrier is good at his job. Maybe you can get him trained. Or maybe you can call him to confirm? I had a doctor who ran late all the time. I got so I would only take his first appointment of the day, but even then he was late.

I hope you get some rain soon, Marilyn. It is strangely foggy here today, and the weather has been cooler than normal all spring. We did have a couple of nice sunny, low humidity days last week, but it was overcast and chilly yesterday. Next we will have our first 90-degree weather of the season, and it will be hot and humid 3 days in a row.

Things are quiet here. Nothing exciting to report so far this week!

That is so scary JoAnn! I think he was scoping the place to see if he attracted attention and then if he didn't, he's have started taking things. Glad you were able to scare him off and the cops know about him...how do people drive around without tags on their car? Although, I'm sure the cops have bigger crimes to take care of then missing car tags.

I'm glad you are safe and that guy is gone. He knows your house is no longer an option!

I had a little adventure yesterday. I confronted and frightened off a would-be burglar. Crime is up in our area because so many people are out of work and also because jails released criminals because of the crowded conditions and concerns over the virus.

I live in a somewhat busy area, so it is not unusual to hear noise. The bank next door has had big lines of people waiting to use the drive-up teller. The cars sometimes line up the street. Sometimes people turn around in our driveway. Anyway, I heard a noise, but didn't think much about it, since the day before there was a guy adjusting a dumpster loaded onto a flatbed truck out in front of our house. But something made me get up to look when I heard a second noise.

Someone had backed his car in far into our driveway. He had the hood and trunk and doors open. I went out and startled him when I asked what he was doing. He kept saying his car broke down and he put it there to fix it. I asked why he didn't pull into the parking lot next door or just do it in front of the house... I told him he had to go--he was trying to get out of there quickly by then.

He didn't have any license plate on the car. I called the police dispatch and gave them the color and model and they sent someone right away to check the area--the cruiser drove by twice, but the guy was long gone by then.

My car wasn't visible from the street, but he must have seen it after he pulled in. I think he was making noise with the car to see if anyone was home. Maybe he was only intending to break into the shed and take whatever smaller items he could grab.
