I try to get exercise in during the work day (walk to someone's desk to ask a ? instead of responding by email, taking the stairs instead of elevator, taking as many bathroom breaks as i can get away with before getting in trouble, etc). It never seems like much to me, but I am doing what I can each day. I also have 2 dogs that i walk every morning. I take time for myself and go to a zumba class once a week. i fit in exercise where i can.

I am less sleepy today after work. I think this week I should try to do some exercise.
I am thinking though that fitting exercise in might be the problem...
I wake up at 6:30 and would 8-5. I sometimes leave the office anywhere between 5 and 30 minutes after.
I get home after 6 and eat dinner. I am thinking I should exercise around 7. At 8 I shower and get ready for bed at 9...(I know, but my body seems to like sleep)

So...even if I got 30 minutes a day would that be enough? I am used to working out for almost an hour most days. hmmm...
And then on the weekends...I work at my second, part time job.
:/

I agree with the pack It takes some time to get readjusted.
Eat healthy and start slowly again.
Then if you were like me I had to do some time management. Cleaning and chores and working out after work or on weekends. Creating a schedule helped me
good luck

I agree that it takes times to adjust to new routines. I find it helpful to try to just get in 10 minutes of exercise at a time, several times a day. It adds up quickly and gives you a boost. When I don't get up in time to exercise before work, and it is after work that I have to get it in, I try to come home, take 30-40 minutes to just decompress from the day and promise myself that I will get 20 minutes of something in. Yoga is a good option when you are just too tired to jump into a cardio or weight lifting.

Good luck.

emoticon on the new job. It may take some time to get things adjusted, but in the mean time - wear your pedometer and count your steps. Since you said the job has a lot of standing and sitting I'm sure you are getting walks in too.

Just hang in there and again emoticon on the new job.

congratulations! That's wonderful and I'm so happy to hear that you like it. That's so important.

Don't worry about the exercise right now - you'll get back into it. Starting a new job is a source of stress, even if it's under good circumstances. So, be patient with yourself and allow yourself to enjoy your new surroundings. I'm SURE once you're settled in physically/emotionally you'll get back to exercising.

We don't have to do it all. Congrats; I'm happy for you! Pat emoticon

I bet you're right that you'll adjust in a few weeks and not be as tired. A new job can be a real mental challenge.

In the meantime, maybe start really small. Can you walk for 10 minutes after work?

I was hired for a job in an office, and so far I really like it. However, I have been exhausted after a work day I am not motivated as much to exercise. (it is 9 hour days so maybe that is why?)
I figured that this might change in a few weeks as I adjust to that, and fully understand everything I am doing so it isn't such a mental workout for every task.
I like that my job is a mix of standing and sitting. Some days I am sitting more-like today-but other days I am standing/walking more doing things like copying, distributing the mail, moving around to different tables ect. so it is somewhat active.
Right now I haven't exercised in a while...and think I should get back to it soon. However, at the moment there are blisters ect. on my feet from my shoes I want to let heal.
I am not sure if the fatigue is mental, physical or even eye strain? I am also working 2 jobs (the other is just part time) so no wonder I am tired....but I go to sleep early and get 8-9 hours of sleep.
So how do I get into this routine again with exercising after work even when tired?
Also, food is not a problem at work. I bring my own meal and snacks, and often I find myself undereating at work rather than overeating....
