I couldn't have summed it up better myself DDORN! I'm a big fan of all-in-one meals. emoticon

You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face.

Mistakes are the portals of discovery.

Don't be afraid to give your best at what seemingly are small jobs. Every time you conquer one it makes you that much stronger. If you do the little jobs well, the big ones will tend to take care of themselves.

It is never too late to be what you might have been.

LOVE crockpot cooking! Especially for soups. But SO many different things can be created in a crockpot. And the slow & easy cooking process brings all the flavors together so well.

As far as gravy it all depends on what one puts in the recipe that makes a difference for calories.

My favorite soups are to start with a basic broth, beef, chicken or vegetable and start adding yummy veggies and legumes. I like to get dry beans and soak them overnight to save money and avoid the BHA in canned stuff. I boil up the beans with lots of onion & garlic and toss in the crockpot with whatever veggies are handy. Lentils are good too and don't need to be soaked overnight. Usually things like carrots, tomatoes, celery. Sometimes squash, bell pepper, broccoli, kale, cauliflower, pumpkin, spinach, green beans, peas. Whatever strikes your fancy. Jazz up with spices and you're good with a week of soup. Yum!
