Peanut, don't rush back north til it warms up. Brrr... Was -22 degrees here in the Glens Falls area when I got up (according to the news on 3 channels; yeah, I had to see if someone would give me a higher number!). Apparently, the Albany area is shooting for the longest unbroken stretch of super-cold February in its history of weather recording. Beating the pole vault record is good. But I'm not sure I want this weather record to be broken.

Snowbirding in FL. Wearing my NY winter coat this week because of those northern winds blasting all the way down here. But then I think of those of you braving those single digits and below. Keep your chin up. Spring will be here soon.

Sunshine does lift the spirits!! :)

PC, turtle-pace is the way to go in losing pounds. Slow. Steady. Sure.
In Lent: to give up something or to add to normal routines. That might open up some options?

Snowing now, so I guess I will be dredging to church in my snow boots for Ash Wednesday, now I have to figure out what to give up for Lent, don't get me wrong, I am so blessed with my life today, except for this weight, but it will come off slowly

I spent most of my life in the NYC area, now I'm Upstate NY which usually means colder and snowier winters. It's come to the point that I keep an eye on the sun/moon altitude to help lift my spirits. This week NY altitude is around 35 degrees, whereas in mid winter we were closer to the teens. Spring is acomin' even if the temps don't reflect it YET! emoticon Hang in there!

You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face.

Mistakes are the portals of discovery.

Don't be afraid to give your best at what seemingly are small jobs. Every time you conquer one it makes you that much stronger. If you do the little jobs well, the big ones will tend to take care of themselves.

It is never too late to be what you might have been.

True, Don!

Thinking about seasons and preferences reminds me of how I always disliked winter yet still prefer living here than escaping to the South. I wouldn't trade our Spring through Autumn seasons for a fairer winter.

We've been spoiled. I think most of us older folks can recall winters this brutal happening all the time. Where is some global warming when we need it? :-)

Yikes, PC!
NYC is a wind-tunnel!
Better cover up well Ash Wednesday.
Let's hope the same clothing need (covering up/layering) isn't necessary for the Easter Parade!!! Surely we must focus thoughts on those tulips, yes?!?

In Albany, an annual tulip festival always depends on tulips coming up in time (and not too late), so as we approach Spring I always hope the tulips and weather time themselves in coordination. May 9-10 of 2015 will be the 67th annual Tulip Festival. I've only gone down (I'm 55 miles north of it) a few times, but oh! walking the pathways of that park full of bright tulips is a fantastic way to say goodbye to winter, hello to spring!

We've got double-digit negative windchillss here by Lake George, and get excited when the actual temperature goes above 0.

Bring on the tulips!!
