Have you asked your vet about this? Wish I had the magical words to help you ! I know she is very lucky to find a "forever" home.

Not sure if she was an outside cat, but I have to presume she was at one time since we got her at our local shelter and she has FIV. Right now, we still just pick up her food bowl when she's done. She'll try to cover it even if there isn't any food left. I know domestic cats do this, I just don't know if there is a way to break the cat of the habit, or if I should.

I just saw this. Was this an outside cat? Never had that with any of my many cats. What did you end up doing??

My cat tries to cover her food if she hasn't finished it. I know this is a natural instinct. Does anyone have any advice as to how to break a cat of this habit? My cat will scratch on the floor - she's instinctively trying to cover it with "dirt", I presume. She'll also pull a small area rug in the kitchen over her bowl
Right now, we just pick the bowl up off the floor. Does anyone have any other ideas as to what to do? Thanks!
