Thanks for sharing your notes. Where did you see this documentary? I am going to check to see if it is available on Netflix. It is available for instant play.

This weekend I watched a documentary called 'Hunger for Change'. I thought it was really interesting.

These are some of my notes from the documentary:

* MSG & free glutamates have 50 different names that can be used on food lables.
* MSG & free glutamates excite fat programs in the brain
* Scientists use MSG to make mice fat - the protocol for making mice fat so that we can experiment different weight loss regimens on them is to feed them MSG
* The combination of Aspartame and Caffeine creates an excitotoxin effect in the brain that kills brain cells and it is this 'brain cell death' that causes the jolt as much as the caffeine
* Diet coke causes carb cravings

**A good sweetner to use is Stevia
** It's a good idea to clean out your system to get rid of fat soluble toxins. You can use chia seeds, green vegetables or any vegetable with chlorophyl, flax seed, aloe vera, parsley, cilantro - all of these clean out your system
** Parsley cleanses the blood supply
** Cilantro binds with heavy metals and removes them from your body

As far as changes in perspective or thought processes the documentary suggested the following:

*** ADD FOOD - don't necessarily think of the changes you are making as restricting yourself from eating food but think of the changes as ADDING food. Expand rather than narrow your food choices.

*** Obesitiy is not the problem, it is the solution. It's the solution to stress, feelings, re-emerging past hurts, and also ... the fact that the typical Western diet doesn't really provide us with the nutrition we need so we are in fact actually biologically hungry ALL the time.

*** It was suggested that if you are upset you shouldn't eat.

*** Dehydration, stress level, and sleep deprivation are reasons why people eat too much and each too much food that isn't good for us

*** Cortisol and epinephrine are stress hormones

*** Sleep gets rid of stress hormones so 2 things happen - sleep will get rid of these hormones .. which is cool if you have a natural level ... but if you don't... you will always want to sleep to get rid of your cortisol etc which will lead to inactivity and perhaps some stress eating as well

*** Stress hormones also cause you to retain fluid - up to 2 pounds a night

*** Laughter helps with stress ... :)

*** Visualize the body you want - your subconscious doesn't speak the language your speak - it doesn't speak English (or whichever language) - and our subconscious is really what helps us make things happen - so speak to it

*** Love is the most important element for losing weight or really doing anything successfully.
