There is a wonderful reason why some call this "older" times in our lives the golden years. My DH and I feel extraordinarily fortunate. Both are children are employed in careers they love, we keep in touch even though we are 1/2 a continent away from our son and 6 hrs. drive from daughter.
My DH has always been a tennis player and keeps fit playing several times a week. Since I lost my weight almost 8 years age and started yoga, we have been enjoying good emotional, mental, physical and spiritual health. I know I am blessed. Thanks for your support.

Lost 65 lbs and maintained since 2006.

You are such an inspiration!

I'm going to be 46 this year and have come to realize that there is SO much left ahead of me, especially since more time is opening up for me as my kids get older!

Thank you....

Thanks so much for sharing these thoughtful ideas. They express things I am gaining understanding of through my life and yoga.

Thought I would share a new word or two..."Hauora" and "Hozho"

Take from Wikipedia -

"The Hauora, is a Maori philosophy of health and well-being unique to New Zealand.

The Hauora has been compared to the four walls of a whare (communal house), each wall representing a different dimension. All four dimensions are necessary for strength and stability."

"There are four dimensions of Hauora;

Taha Tinana (Physical Wellbeing - health)

Taha Hinengaro (Mental & Emotional wellbeing - self-confidence)

Taha Whanau (Social Wellbeing - self-esteem) and

Taha Wairua (Spiritual wellbeing - personal beliefs)

So here was a new concept that uses the term "well-being" not once, but four times. What a compact and lovely word!

It reminded me of the word "Hozho" which encompasses the Navejo (or Dine) Concept of Balance and Beauty.

Hozho includes the consideration of the nature of the universe, the world, and man, and the nature of time and space, creation, growth, motion, order, control, and the life cycle.

Most sites agree that Hozho is a term quite impossible to translate into English.

The physical representation of Hauora is easier for me to hang my hat on...or "in" as the case me be.
