I do not really know. I think I would like for my family and friends not to weep for me, but to have a celebration.

I believe funerals for for the living and not the dead. I personally do not want a fuss. I like a peaceful time where my friends and family can be together and enjoy each others company. We have a burial plot but I have been thinking more of cremation. My body will not know what is being done to it. I will be in a better place with my family and friends that have moved on.

Keep on track

I don't really have too many thoughts about my funeral. But, I really want to make sure I live my life in a way that my presence will be missed.

My Mom wrote a poem to be read at her funeral , it goes like this When I die as I know I will, Carry my bones up on the hill. Dig a hole and plant the sod and leave the rest up to God . I think I will have that read at my funeral too ! I dont want to much fuss but I would like to write love letters to each person that special to me , Actually I should do that now ! lol . I like the song I Believe I can fly :) and also How Great thou Art ! . The other day I was actually looking at eco urns , I thought that would be great its a biodegradable urn that comes with a sapling. Okay so listen for 175 pound person you would need 5 urns ! at 70 bucks apiece now if that doesnt make u want to lose weight ! also it comes with the sapling okay so suppose you dont die right away ! the sapliing probably will but if you plant it before hand you have huge trees ! to dig up ! loooool anyways I put the kibosh on that idea !

I would want instead of a funeral, a 5k walk/run to help an organization in need. After the 5k, just a party and people having a great time!!

I want to die at home and have my body kept on dry ice for a couple of days for friends and family to come say goodbye. I would love to be buried in a shroud in the ground in a forest to return to nature.
I want a memorial service with the following music: This is my Father's world, Children of the Heavenly Father (old Swedish hymn) The Parting Glass (an Irish folk song). I love Amber's idea of having my books taken by friends and family as a keepsake. I would love for people to share any stories they want. I want lots of hugs, laughs, tears as needed and a celebration of a life lived with joy and zest.

Lost 65 lbs and maintained since 2006.

At the church I want a piper to play Amazing Grace and Sleep Dearie Sleep.

I want to have the traditional Irish wake, which is always the best party of the year. Cry before or cry after if you feel that way, but not at my wake. I want people to drink, have a great time, and tell all the most outrageous stories they know about me. And I want them to party and have a great time in memory of me. Trust me, I'll be smiling from wherever I am if the police have to be called to my wake!

I've been pulling the questions from the day from different websites that I've found but I remembered one that I wanted to ask.

I had a friend who had planned every detail of her funereal down to the music the would play and the things they would say.

I can't say that I would recommend following her letter of the law but it got me wondering.....

A funeral - or any sort of ceremony where people say goodbye to people who have passed away - is also a chance for the deceased to say goodbye - have their last word.

So I got to wondering .... what would I want at my funeral?

Well, for starters, we don't have funerals in my family so it would have to be some sort of a wake or memorial service.

These are the things I would want:

1 - I'd like to have a little film festival where Breakfast at Tiffany's, Kill Bill I & II, Moulin Rouge, and Stranger Than Fiction were played.

2 - I'd like to have a birthday cake. It's my favorite food. Also, lots of Asti Spumante and Sangria.

3 - On my urn or my gravestone I would like the quote I have been clinging to for the last 20 years - 'It is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye' - I hope to someday live up to it.

4 - I'd like to have Klimt's & Theberge's art displayed in some way. They are my favorite artists.

5 - I'd like everyone who came to take 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 of my books and I hope they enjoy what will undoubtedly be an antique by the time I pass away.

6 - Mostly I would like people to have a good time but I suppose it would be my idea of a good time - with books, movies, music, and art ....

What would you like to have at your funeral - or rather, what would be your way of saying goodbye?
