I'm glad you both like the quote. This can apply to so many things in life.

That is a great quote from Aristotle ...... I don't find very many people I can talk to but that might be my fault .... I not a real sociable person.

Only to an extent. Once it gets to where someone tries to attack me in any way then I stop it. I just don't debate about such a personal thing. And that's how I feel. Now if someone want to have an open DISCUSSION, that's another matter. I will discuss it all day long. It's actually one of my favorite subjects to talk about when it's w/ someone who is not close minded. This type of thing brings to mind my all time favorite quote. There is so much wisdom in this quote that it blows me away. "It is the mark of an educated man to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it." Aristotle.

Excellent question and excellent idea for a forum.
I belong to a small group of friends.... 4 of us, all mothers of daughters and sons, all teachers or retired teachers, 3 married to original husbands, one widowed after 4 marriages and finding the love of her life. My DD calls us the 4 moms, we talk about everything including religion, but from a very unique status.
My friend who was widowed decided to be very forthright with the rest of us about her experiences with grief. We were and are so grateful. However, she feels her husband is still very much in her life in the memory of his love, in the art they shared and that his spirit is close and communicates with her. Therefore, his name has become a great shorthand way to talk about our spiritual beliefs.

Lost 65 lbs and maintained since 2006.

I do discuss religion with family and friends In the business world I did not bring up the subject, but I do listen tho their opinions. I do not comment on their views as some are only looking for someone to disagree with them to make their point.

Keep on track

Very little. Religion is a very sticky suggest,it is just like politics.

That's a big question. The general answer is Yes. Though, to be clear I don't belittle or challenge anyone's beliefs or systems. No longer connected to a religion, I'm more likely to acknowledge my spiritual beliefs to a friend... we are all one, God is the almighty power that flows through us all, there is power through prayer and word. I attended a Unity church for a while and felt very inline with their teachings. Religion, sex, money and family.. four conversation topics to be cautious about entering into , I've learned that the hard way.

I've always loved question of the day threads ... and so I am stealing the idea.

QUESTION:

Do you discuss religion with friends?

ANSWER:

Well, yes and no. I live in the middle of the Bible belt so there are people I like that I really can't discuss religion with. I can't tell someone who believes they are saved and going to heaven that not only do I not think they need to be saved but that I don't believe in heaven or hell in the traditional way. So there are people I just don't say anything to. I try not to at least. My Father went from being a member of a non-denominational church called Unity Church of Christianity, which is a new thought church, and became a Catholic. Which, I still think is weird. But, he does enjoy the little get togethers held at the Catholic Church in their neighborhood. I don't care much for the Catholic Church but I try hard not to say anything.
