I make and effort to enjoy life as I go along. Many things that happened to me in my first marriage, made me look at life differently. I say that unless you have been in a situation, you really do not know who and how it effects them. My past expereince has made me enjoy life and appreciate the wonderful man I am married to today. If I find myself getting a little miffed at him over something. I tell myself, that is such a little things that really will have no concern on our life so just roll with the flow. I try to remember to thank him evesryday for carrying for me and making my life a happy one

Keep on track

Wonderful affirmation! I think the basic idea is "mindful living". When you're present in the moment, things slow down enough to enjoy them - to smell the flowers. What you wrote, in the post just below mine, Amber, reminded me to take time as I'm doing my grade evaluations. I just wanted to get them DONE, but now that I think about it, I should just take the time to enjoy each final "interaction" with my students. ;-)

Happy Saturday!

Yeah I know what you mean. I have a hard time with that too. I always feel like I need a few hours a day to do 'whatever I want' and God help me .... I raised a child who loves to do 'whatever he wants' for hours a day. lol

I did hear something a few things many years ago which, when I think of it, helps me out.

Well it might be THREE things .....

In The Road Less Traveled .... M. Scott Peck describes how ANYTHING we do can be done with love. I think in his book it was a description of someone gardening. It was a leisure activity but what was interesting to me was the intersection between this mundane activity and a loving experience which I had before that point only attributed to romantic love. Which ... would of course lead to enjoyment.

Then years later I started listening to Marianne Williamson's talks. She was less specific than Peck in the activities but more specific in what it meant to 'love'. She said no matter what situation we are in, again - no matter how mundane, we are there to love. Whether we are sweeping our front porch, at work, or in a loving relationship - our purpose is to express love. Then of course she goes on to describe what that means. Again, while it is not the same as the romantic love experience described in romance novels or which I think we have sometimes been taught in this culture to anticipate - it is an idea that I believe would lead to enjoyment in every aspect of life.

Then there was a book called Spiritual Literacy - Reading the Sacred in Everyday Life - I am not sure I still have it - I will have to look later today. It was sort of a dictionary about how every little thing could be a spiritual experience. Which, would also make it enjoyable.

There is also the work of Thomas Moore now that I think of it. He wrote a book called The Re-enchantment of Everyday Life ... which I also think I've let slip out of my hands ...

Hope you have a great day!

i sometimes get annoyed if i think i am not "enjoying life "enough", but i think i try to race through my day instead of enjoying simple moments or focusing on sharing happiness with others i see.

Life is for enjoying. It is not a race to see how much you can get done. ~Jill Clark

I will get done everything I really need to do today if I focus on being kind to the women and men who cross my path.
