Finally getting a few minutes to check in here, and I just want to assure everyone that even though I may not post here every day I am still thinking and praying for the wellness of all of you. I have been very busy with people coming for basket classes. I have had a lot of days spent with one person her working on a basket or bracelets. It takes up time and give me companionship, but one person takes up as much of my time as it would if I had five or six people here which equals less time to spend on the computer.

We have had very heavy rain here today, but it seem to be tapering off now,

Same here, Judith, I feel like I found another little Spark Family here with good people who really, and truly care and can say a prayer for me once in a while. The world can be such a rough place, it is wonderful to know that so many of the good people are found on Spark. :)

Hello friends!!!

Judith, I always keep you and your beautiful spirit in mind when I need a little emotional boost. I am not sure you realize the impact you have on people, even when you are not always present. It is nice to know there are people like you, who radiate love and kindness. It is a nice thought that everyone we love will be reunited in the Lord eventually. I am always praying that my family will see the Lord's work in their lives and get that moment, where they realize He is for real :)

Eileen, I have to do like you and take care of me a bit, with limited computer today, and some more rest instead. The internet can eat you alive if you let it, lol.

I had my doctors yearly check up today and the blood pressure was great, now waiting for bloodwork results with cholesterol and vitamin B levels. Hope all is okay. She thought she heard a heart murmur, but is not going to send me to a specialist to have it checked out until she hears back from me about my sisters heart condition. There was something that was found accidentally, so the doctor wanted to be sure of what that might be before she preventively send me to a cardiologist.

emoticon all for your Prayers, today was a better day for me, I will be here but on a smaller scale at least until my health improves which it will. The long trip 3,000 miles away did not help the stress from Dad's illness and eventual death... I'm fine with this as I know my Dad is safe and I will be reunited with both Mom and Dad when God calls me home...So all is good, just have to get my blood work back to normal and get right meds to deal with the MS and Arthritis and that will happen...You all are so kind and supportive.... emoticon

Just stopped by after a long week of basket classes--only one person at a time, but three people in all on three different days. Got my wood cooking stove cleaned finally on one of the off days, and managed to mow my lawns today after the student left. I definitely agree that contact with all of you here on Spark is what is helping me stay accountable with my nutrition and exercise. Without all you wonderful support I would probably go back to my bad habits. Support for each other is so great. Judith you know that you have my prayer support at all times in your dealing with your health issues.

Need to finish up here and get some sleep. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Evening Hello Team,

Here is a bit of an up-date on what is going on with me and why I haven't been on here as much as I once was.

I saw the Doctor today and as a result I am going under a battery of mega tests, my Arthritis and Neuropathy has flared up which has caused me mega pain and spasm, please pray for me, because of the flare I haven't been sparking as my usual, I'm so sorry...I know this will pass and I will be back to my usual self...

Eileen, this is really sad that your class mate did not get to see the finished product. So wonderful of her children to help put everything together. I think it is a fantastic idea, since not everyone keeps in touch after school, but sometimes we think about them and wonder what happened in their lives. Via Facebook I was able to reconnect with a few dear class mates, and we always try to keep each other updated if we hear anything about a common friend. But it looks like most of us were thrown all over the place. Hard to keep track.

Did a wonderful evening walk with my husband and my daughter today. So I definitely got my cardio in. It was a great time, too.

Schnootie - I did reconnect with a few of the classmates at the reunion. Since this was the 55th class reunion quite a few of the original class member have passed away (including my husband). Yes, we were high school classmates. The really great thing about this reunion was that one of our members came up with the idea of putting a booklet together on the lives of the class members. Each classmate was asked to send a brief accounting of their life together with pictures. Of course, not everyone send in anything, but the resulting booklet was about a 1/2" thick and will make some interesting reading as I have time. Each page has education beyond HS, work experience, family, high school memories, etc. The saddest thing connected with this booklet was that the member who originated this idea, lost her battle with leukemia earlier this year and did not live to see the results. Her children and grandchildren finished the project as a tribute to her.

Good morning, my friends,

Judith, so glad you are slowly sorting out everything. I am surprised that you were able to continue supporting your Sparkfriends as you did. And happy, of course. Just post when you can, and take it in stride.

Eileen, nice job on keeping steady with your weight. Any interesting stories to tell from the reunion? Were you able to reconnect with long lost class mates?

Dogs are wonderful little alarm systems, lol. I can understand both your points that night time protecting might go a little too far (poor mail man, hahah). I was always bad at being home alone, probably because I just watched too much TV when I was younger, and always think of certain creepy scenes when night falls. When we moved to the US and bought a house, my husband started out with night shift, so it was only me and the girls and my labrador puppy at home. Over the years I learned, that the puppies will alert if they hear anyone even walking by that is not supposed to be there, they alert to things I should be checking out. They can even hear the neighbor with her dog coming around the corner on their walk before we even see them. They don't always bark, but they look out the window. So now, I don't worry a bit. If I hear a sound and no one gets up to listen or bark, I don't even check it out. Ah, bliss to have puppies.

Judith - Your mom's dog sounds like she might try to protect everyone. I am not sure my dog would try to protect others, but she sure keeps me informed of any strange noises. Of course, that is good when I am home, since my hearing is bad (and I take my hearing aid out at night). In the motel, I was just glad that she stopped quickly. A classmate had the room next to mine, and said that they heard a dog once, but only briefly. She really is a great dog. I was extremely happy this morning to weigh myself and find that I weighed the same this morning as I did before I left for the reunion. Of course, I was tired after getting home yesterday, that I eat very sparingly of mostly fruit and other quick grabs and drank plenty of liquid.

Today is much cooler than it was last week. It truly feels like fall now, but it is a beautiful sunny day. I love this season so I am happy.

Eileen, I am catching up, seems since I was away and before with my Dad so ill and then passing I've got behind with news, was trying to keep Team going with Team Fitness Challenges etc and then just basically catch up with life I have not kept up with day to day comments here...I am sorry to hear you had problems with your arm but happy the treatment helped and you have more movement, this is good, I knew the reunion was in the works but didn't realize it was this soon, happpy you were able to attend, nice you found a pet friendly hotel. I smiled when you told me about your dog thinking she had to defend you, reminded me of my Mom's dog when I looked after her, I used to have paper delivery and this 1 morning she heard the guy putting the paper between the wall and door handle, she was air borne off my bed howling and growling jumping at door, the poor guy dropped the paper and I could hear him running down hall of my condo, she sounded like some ferocious wild dog but in reality she was a yorkie/zoo needless to say I cancelled my paper for the time I had her, I didn't want to be waking at 3am with that carry on and I'm sure my neighbors were ever so grateful! emoticon

Schnootie - Yes, the chiro did help although it is still sore, I can now lift my arm over my head. I had a super time at the reunion, but I must comment that Pixie DID go. The motel where the reunion was held is dog friendly, and she made many, many friends. She greeted everyone she saw. and one man with a motorcycle offered to give her a ride-it was declined by me!. The downside of her being with me, was that during the night there were many strange to her sounds which she thought she needed to protect me from. I spent most of the night keeping her quiet so that she did not disturb my girlfriend from childhood who was sharing the room with us. I did not get a lot of sleep, but she did finally calm down and sleep. I will definitely sleep tonight.

I didn't go to church this morning, and actually haven't in months. The little church I have been going to on and off is really great and actually posts their sermons on their website. I think I should start listening to the series. As a matter of fact, I will have to try and see if I can download them to my phone. I have a 40 minute commute to work, and have my phone plugged into listen to Spotify anyway. This will have to test :)
So off to walk in the park with the lazy poodle. I will keep you all in prayer while we hoof it through the wilderness :)

Eileen, did the chiro help? Hope you have an amazing time at the Reunion, and hope Pixi is not going to be offended for long that she didn't get to come with you :)

RHOOK... grandbabies, what a blessing!! I hope the Baptism festivities were as wonderful as possible, and did the baby cry in church? Some just sleep through it. I work 3 days a week and we are open at the Veterinary practice 7a to 11p and weekends 8a to 5p. I told my boss to use those three days however she needs me as long as I have every second weekend off. So I work all shifts, always 8 hours. Although if I work the last shift 2-11 p, it can happen that we have to stay late. We sometimes get emergencies in that result in late surgeries etc, and the reception staff stays until everyone is settled, and receipted out and safely on their way home. So sometimes we get out closer to 1 am. I don't mind, when I work, I work.

Judith, how are you doing? Are you taking good care of yourself? Are you regrouping, and resting up when you need it? Sending you some love.

Just a quick stop by to wish everyone a great weekend. I will doing my workout in a few minutes and then getting ready to leave for my class reunion.

Pixie, my dog, know that something is going one and she is watching me to make sure that I am packing her "stuff" as well. I have to laugh, but I know that she is devoted to me and doesn't like me to leave without her.

Ute I work 2nd shift also. I don't like it but the money is good and it's a paycheck. I do my prayng and talking with God on my way to work and home as well. Start it with a prayer to St. Joseph, patron of worker and talk with many others throughout the drive. Hope you have a great weekend.

Have not been here for a few days, since I have such a long TO DO list. To answer questions about basket class, what we made was a small basket done on a wooden base with dividers attached to the base that makes it a four section basket. It has a central handle formed by one of the dividers. A fast beginner basket which is so useful, that I have made so many of them for sale or to fill in a class when someone wants to weave something easy.

I had a emergency chiropractor appointment this morning, since somewhere along in the work during the past days, I triggered a neck/shoulder/arm problem. I am going to my 55th high school class reunion this weekend, and really wanted to be as pain free as possible.

Ute, I will do just as you did on your walk praying for anyone who needs prayer, but I usually do it while I am driving long distance. It makes me pay attention to my driving and I pray that I have a safe trip as well.

Hello my wonderful friends!!! I took my Bunnypoodle to the park this morning to get our workout it. She only does about 30 minutes, but that's okay. I found myself praying almost the whole way, trying to think of everyone that could use a little prayer boost, and since Bunny and I were alone with the trees and the birdies, I took the liberty of talking aloud. She thought I was talking to her, and it helped me put my thoughts and words in order. To all of you a wonderful day, I am going to leave to go to late shift now. Will be out anywhere between 11 pm and 1 am, so if I don't check in again, I am thinking of you all.

Jut a quick stop here to let everyone know I am fine, but busy. I think that the postponed basket class of the last few weeks, is actually going to happen today. Also want to let everyone know that the idea of adding a few more calories to my nutrition is actually working. I am not being so strict with the measuring, just being very careful to weigh the important things, and the scales are dropping.

Another busy day so this will be brief. I have a choice between spending a lot of time on the computer, or doing all the things that need doing this fall. Need to get the work done.
I will not shorten my workout time or the time I take to prepare healthy meals, so this is where the time has to be cut.

Eileen, thanks for explaining that. I saw it on some of my friends feeds, and always wanted to know what that's about.

Judith, I hope you feel the Lord's presence today and your soul is beginning to heal. I thought about you a lot these days, and was so happy to see that you posted encouragement for your team and your friends. You truly are a special lady. ((((HUGS))))

I am still getting over my cold. I thought it should be over by now, and I did sleep a little later, go up, made a really healthy and yummy brunch for me and hubby (he asked for pancakes, so I modified an already healthy Spark recipe by adding flax seed and ground quinoa plus a healthy fruit salad to top it. He really liked it.... I try to take care of his heart as well as mine). Then I put on my workout music and attacked the dishes and kitchen counters. When I was done, my head was all stuffed up, and I literally felt weak. So, I am going to listen to my body and not overdo it today. I am going to devise my plan for the 2014 Fall 5 % Challenge that is starting some time next week, and drink my fluids. Later I have to start cleaning out my daughters room that is going to be guest room and make a garbage run. But I will rest in between. No need to drag on that cold.

SCHNOOTIE - You asked what the Glow Getter award is. I have the Spark Activity Tracker and it is set for me to get 6,000 steps a day as a minimum to earn the Glow Getter award. I have been getting a lot more steps than that recently, so I am on a streak achieving the Glow Getter award each day.

Just finished working out for a little over an hour and I feel so energized. I had been doing the first three 15 minute sections of the Jessica Smith WALK ON DVD, but on a recent rainy day added the final 15 minute section to try it. It is a 15 minute "dance party" and I just love that last section so much, I am not sure I will ever not include it in my workout. It is fast paced and leaves me sweating buckets, but isn't that what exercising is supposed to do?
I guess there will be days when I will be pressed for time, but if this 73 year old lady can do something so energetic most days that she works out and love it in the process, why shouldn't I?

I don't mean to gush over this, but it makes me feel so good.

SCHNOOTIE be gentle with yourself if you are not feeling well. A little bit of walking probably won't hurt along with the stretching, but anything more could make it a longer time before you are completely well. Our heavy rain of this morning has stopped and the sun is not out. Hooray the humidity is gone finally for a few days of cooler weather. I love it this way.

Finally a rainy day here. I don't usually like rainy days but since we really do need it after a long spell without, I won't complain. I am trying to get some material dyed for a class tomorrow, and am having trouble with the right colors. Hopefully what I am dyeing right now will be OK.

I did re-figure my calorie range, Judith, and found that I had to alter the setting from Sedentary (which I am usually not) to more active. It put me in a slightly higher calorie range, with the low point of this new range at about the level of calories I had been aiming for. With adding a few more calories, I saw the scales drop a pound yesterday. I think this may be the answer that I was looking for.

I had read quite a bit about not getting enough calories and the scales stalling for that reason, but I am not sure that I really believed this until this most recent development for me. I guess time will test this theory.

emoticon SCNOOTIE - I have seen a quotation that goes something like this--"The only time one can fail is when one completely gives up." I know that is not the exact quotation but at least it gets the point across that as long as you keep trying you haven't failed.

Judith- Thank you for your suggestion as to the Spark program to figure nutrition. When I first joined Spark I did figure what I needed for calories, and I have tried to stay in the mid-range of what was figured. Perhaps I need to either refigure based on my current activity level or try to eat in the upper range of calories estimated. I find that it is so hard to decide just how I should rate how active I am. I know right now I am getting at least an hour of actual exercise (mostly walking or walking DVD's), but total fitness as recorded by my tracker is usually about double that. How active am I is the big question??????? I hope this doesn't sound like I am whining--it almost does to me.

It continues to be very hot and muggy here. We are supposed to have cooler weather by the end of the week, but until then some of the outside work has been put aside.

Knock, knock... hello all, it has been ages since I have been active on Spark. I seem to come by, and flutter off again. So much so, that I have hit my all time high of 219 lbs this year. I know better (I bet you all know what that feels like, right?). I downloaded that Spark App to my new phone, since I now actually have enough space on it. My daughter also moved back in part time (we are halfway point between her apartment and college) and she just lost a lot of weight by moving and eating smart. She is quite the inspiration. I also found the Spark Recipe and Spark Vegetarian Recipes apps for my phone, and successfully made some wonderful meals. I am tracking my food, and just found your September Challenge, which I find amazingly encouraging and inspiring. I am all in. Thanks for letting me a part of this. I know I came into the challenge a week late, so I don't expect any goodies, but just knowing that there are people who are in this with me, makes me wanna...... well, put on my Superwoman cape and yodel from the rooftops. Love to all!!

Have made tracking my nutrition and doing my workouts as top priorities. Since I don't seem to have enough time to do everything I want to, I will try to keep messages brief. I am wondering if I am eating enough calories considering my lifestyle as having eaten more this weekend I seem to have kept myself from gaining more that a half pound--and my weight fluctuates that much anyway. I just can't seem to lose cutting calories so I think I will try adding a few.

Playing catch up today after a super busy end to last week, and then a long drive to and from a party yesterday. I am tired, but the lawn was not done at the end of the week as usual so have done the rider part of the lawn. I will relax while it is really hot this afternoon and plan to finish the push mower part of the lawn this evening when it is cooler.

Evening emoticon Team,

Been nursing my Kitty who had surgery this morning, she came home at 5:30pm and has been restless most evening, she is quiet now so a little Sparking...

So sorry this summer has been quite the one or with being MIS alot, first with Dad gravely ill then passing and me heading out for the service 3,000 miles away, then the massive wind and rain storm here that took out power and after an earthquake in adjoining city which I didn't feel but it has added to our crazy weather.. So it sure has been quite the time for me the past 3 months..

Just want you to know that I stand with you and will get back on track, in the meantime let's keep Sparking on together..I encourage you to join the September Challenges, lets work together on getting fitter..

Judith, I would encourage you to try taking a class or two if you know a teacher. It can be daunting at first for some people, so I would say start with a simple one. If you have a patient teacher she can help over the rough spots. It has been more than a hobby for me since it was my income for 30 plus years. I could never have fully supported myself doing it on the scale I did, since I was a wife and mother first, but it allowed me to be a stay-at-home mom who brought in a considerable chunk of the family income when it was necessary. My DH was self-employed too, and it just seemed that when his income was down mine was up. I think faith may have helped, since I believed if I tried hard enough the means to survive would be there. I still believe that.


Anyway, I love being creative and feel that I inherited my ability since some of my ancestors were basket makers. I can't say if was passed down since it skipped a few generations. I do love to encourage people to try basket weaving. You may fall in love with it as I did. Even if you don't at least you might learn to recognize what makes a good basket.

Eileen, the Baskets you make and help others sounds like a wonderful hobby, I love crafts of all kinds but never have done basket weaving, you have almost sparked in me to give it a go. Hope you have a great day... emoticon

Am finally taking a few minutes to get caught up with some e-mails. Yesterday was one of those days when I just never seemed to have time for it. I had an early hair appointment, did my workout and then had a basket friend/student stop in to discuss a large basket she wants to make. It involves a lot of color which had to be ordered, and I wanted to be sure just what colors and where she wants to use them before I ordered the wrong thing. It was nice to have her stop for a visit, but it meant that I didn't get through all the e-mails. I can always do them when I have long stretches alone.

Hope everyone has September off to a good start. We are off to a hot start here (unfortunately for those who started school this week)
