Need to do my quota of firewood for today in the hopes of finishing the last tier of kitchen stove wood outside. It is very cold so I am not sure I will get it all done, WISHING YOU ALL A VERY HAPPY AND BLESSED NEW YEAR. Tonight if you are going out to celebrate be safe and do not drive if you are drinking--have a designated driver.

thank you to both of you. I thought of the battery when I was out, but didn't have the paper with the number in my purse when I went to the grocery store or library.

I have a book, that I will get out for the new year and share with you.

LIVELYGIRL2 and LAPERLE I want you to know I'm with you, sometimes when we have the colder weather we tend to stay in curl up in front of the fire or the TV and with that are energy is depleted and we don't have the drive to exercise as much as we normally do and then you put the holidays in that mix with all the rich foods one doesn't usually eat and then we see the scale go up, first time in years the scale has gone up for me, I think getting over surgery and not bouncing back as fast as I hoped for contributed to the gain, I'm still in the normal range but the high end so there is no wiggle room left (sigh) oh well I will just have to emoticon as I know emoticon when I put my mind to it... so I'm with you gals and will continue to cheer you on your journey, hope you got the batteries and the DVD player works when hooked up to your bedroom TV, here's hoping it all comes together for you both... emoticon emoticon

For Everyone Else

Good Afternoon Team

Let's have a great week accomplishing our goals that are before us, we CAN do it together!

Also wishing you a great year ahead, May you have a Happy Peaceful and Blessed New Year 2015 filled with God's Abundant Blessings..

LIVELYGIRL2 , It is probably a combination of both. I know when I get really busy and stressed I eat too much "junk" and don't always fit time for exercising into my schedule. I do get exercise (with the firewood, etc) but I also need to do either a strength training or a cardio workout daily. I am hoping that I can hook up my dvd player to the TV in my bedroom so that I can do exercise tapes on that. Have been using my laptop, but it is developing issues and I do not want to continue using it.

LIVELYGIRL2 the battery for the SAT is #2032. You should be able to find this battery at WalMart, any drug store or a lot of the supermarkets. Fortunately, I find that the batter in the SAT is very easy to change. I have a heart rate monitor (that takes the same size battery) that is very difficult and takes me a long time to change. Good luck with the new battery. I find the SAT makes tracking exercise so much easier--if only it would track most of the time I spend on the firewood.

good, Judith. I'm considering what I will do. I haven't figured it out yet.

So my SAT battery died about 5 months after I got it. I still haven't found it. So, if someone posts the number: I will attempt to find a new one. I feel off the wagon, or wasn't so consistent, since the end of August. I put on 5 lbs.

Today I had some salad and squash. I did eat lots of goodies. Some of them are cheap and pointless, but some of the special treats are special and worth it. emoticon

Most of today is going to be a rest day. I am looking forward to the New Year, and will plan to "hit the gas" to get back into an exercise routine and hopefully, also get back on track to eating more healthfully than I have during the Holidays. Hope everyone is having a good, restful weekend.

LAPERLE: Happy you got all the furnace firewood in, that's a huge job completed, good job, I'm sure you are happy it is finally done! Hope you can get the rest in soon for the kitchen, wow you sure keep busy, it almost makes me tired just thinking about all that work, with cutting stacking and then bringing it in, the good part is actually using the firewood, emoticon emoticon I love a wood burning stove, I remember as a young child sitting at my grandparents cottage in front of their wood burning stove, I loved watching the flames dance! it almost made me want to dance along too! emoticon

Certainly do know how busy things can get this time of year. I love all the Holidays, but am also glad when they are over and things can go back to normal or as close as possible to normal. Have finally got all the furnace firewood in, so that leave only the wood for the kitchen stove. If I could get another tier stacked while the weather is so mild that would be wonderful, but if doesn't happen I will keep bringing it in for the big pile as long as possible. Hope everyone is getting back to normal after enjoying their Holidays.

Sorry Team, this past 2 weeks have been extremely busy with Ministry obligations and Church and Family activities, I wasn't able to keep up like I normally do, since my kidney surgery I haven't totally bounced back like I was hoping for. Thanks for your understanding.

Hope you all had a most Blessed Christmas, also wishing you all a Happy and Peaceful New Year 2015

My Christmas was spent with family, really just getting re-settled back home and unpacking gifts and getting back on track here...

Hope everyone had a great Christmas. Because of the weather we delayed our celebration for a day, but it was great when we finally did celebrate. Even got some help throwing in some of the furnace firewood to work off a few calorie which had be consumed at the dinner table. Hope everyone's celebration was as good as ours.

Haven't done what my Spark Activity Tracker considers a workout in a while. I have been carrying in firewood, stacking it, etc. which I do consider a workout since I worked at it for 45 minutes this morning. After I get all the firewood taken care of and beyond the Holidays then I will have to return to what the tracker considers a workout as well, but right now time will only stretch so far.

I did get a workout on Saturday, and will be walking to a bunch of errands today, but Judith and others, I have not been consistent with exercise since the end of August. It started being once or twice a week, then less

I did walk around the house once when the kids were lapping, while reading, but hardly exercise. .

Have just made the decision to postpone our actual Christmas celebration with my DH and her family until Friday. They live and hour and a half away from us and would have to travel over some less than ideal secondary roads, in weather that is predicted to be frightful. Their safety is more important to me that actually celebrating on a specific day. as long as we hold Christmas and its meaning in our heart, we can celebrate it any day (and every day) that we want. So, I just got a little extra time to finish all my projects and knit my DGS some warm mittens. What 11 year old (his birthday is today) doesn't need all kinds of mittens? I think I can do two pair if I don't waste time.

Thanks for the warm thoughts. Yes, we are really into Christmas and love the One whose birthday it is.

I was tired, because I took care of two twin boys for a long day Friday and then a party. But I've known these boys for 1 1/4 years, so I really love them. However one of them got sick and mom couldn't come home. I treated him as if he was my own, but feeling badly for him. He is getting better now.

Which means I've been behind with workouts, but finally got one in Saturday.

LIVELYGIRL2 hope you are having a great weekend. If you celebrate Christmas I hope that you are able to step away from the chaos that can be created and instead experience the Peace and Joy of the Blessed season.

I would also wish the same for everyone else who celebrate a religious Holiday this time of year regardless of what holiday they celebrate!

Ah, the last weekend before Christmas. So much to do, but first I need to make a trip to my oldest sister's home this afternoon. She is still working, not because she has to, but because she enjoys being a legal secretary. Also, those she serves would be lost without her care and guidance. For this reason, she is busy during the week and my weekend with craft fairs leaves me little time to spend when she is available. I could choose other ways to get her gifts to her, but it is important to me to spend time (even just a little) with her.

Hope everyone is getting the last minute things done, if you are a celebrant of the holiday.

Wish that I could share my biscotti with both of you. I usually only make it once a year at Christmastime, but it is one of my favorite and I find it easier to do than a lot of cookies.
Had to meet family from both my DH's and my family to exchange gifts. It work for all of us if we co-ordinate our schedules and meet in the parking lot of a wholesale club that everyone shops. It meant driving 45 miles to and from the club, but at least the deed is now done, and I did get a few last minute items that I needed.

Hope everyone is having a good Friday and looking forward to a great weekend.

Spent the day on a marathon cooking spree, but I now have all kind of Christmas goodies for gifts. I make biscotti every year,, and have done 4 different kinds as well as 2 different kinds of cookies as well as some spiced mixed nuts. Most of the recipes are from Spark or other healthy websites so they are healthy in moderation.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Thank you my friend, it is such a relief...one thing I'm so thankful for is, even though I'm on a disability pension and can't work like I once I have the strength to Volunteer for a few hours each week and teach which I love so much, and the ministry I do at Church a lot of it can be done from home and people can come to me, yes, I am blessed indeed...

I am officially on holidays, had my last group today with enjoying our closing luncheon until the new year, I don't teach again until January 6, 2015. Looking forward to celebrating Christmas with my family. A Christmas bonus for sure, JUDITH. One of the things I dislike about winter time is never being able to trust the weather. Needed to meet my daughter in Augusta today, and to do a few last minute errands. The weatherman last night said that although cloudy there shouldn't be an precipitation before late afternoon. Well, even before my chiropractors appointment I had some drizzle on my windshield. The temp was right around the freezing point and the roads did not seem to be freezing so I took a chance and went anyway. I had no problem at all--my prayers were answer as to our both being able to make a safe trip and get our errands done, but I dislike the uncertainty. There are a few steep hills encountered in the 45 mile drive for me that could cause problems.

Hope everyone is staying safe today,

I am still in my robe. I won't say what time it is...
Well last night I made Christmas cookies for American Heritage Girls. Today I've been making goodies that went in the goodie bag for Wednesday. I rubber stamped plain bags with decorations. These bags claimed to be lunch bags, but they are kinda big, I hope I can find more things to insert, or I'll have to go to the store, or store or ask another lady.

Another beautiful day here, but a bit colder to start than recently. Yes, JUDITH, I did get me orders done except for painting the chickadee which I will do later today. Now, need to start bulldozing out the house to get the clutter taken care of and company ready. It really doesn't seem like there are enough hours in a day, or at least enough energy to get everything done.

I do enjoy interacting with people here. Hope everyone has gotten their week off to a good start.

LIVELYGIRL2: Happy you are enjoying all the things I share here, appreciate you taking the time to read my posts and to comment, Blessings on your evening and week ahead!

LAPERLE: thanks for sharing, it's great you have the forced hot air to keep your place warm especially in this colder season. I can see the woodstove would save you a ton of money on your heating bill as oil can be costly, way back in one of our homes in Hamilton my husband and I had oil and space heaters, oh my, sure ate into our heating bills...but not as bad as electric heating which has to be the worst for heating bills...13 acres of land sounds emoticon Hope you got your orders filled for your baskets...have a great evening and week ahead...

For Everyone Else: as always I cheer you on your journey, keep up the great work, let's have a great week ahead meeting some goals, we can together 1 step at a time! emoticon emoticon

Had the most awesome Friday evening with friend's, it was our annual Christmas Party-Fellowship at my place, everyone brought food, we talked, laughed, enjoyed each other's company, exchanged gifts and had a beautiful evening, watched a Christmas video with carols sung in background and background pictures, what makes it so awesome is Jesus is in the centre of our fellowship...I love this time of year, celebrating the Birthday of the King!

Hope you all had a great day...Blessings on your weekend... emoticon emoticon

JUDITH, we do have an oil furnace, forced hot air--no fireplaces, but the big wood furnace is in the cellar with a square grate connecting it to our living room. The wood furnace is also tied in to our oil furnace ducts so a little heat from it does get to other rooms. Our woodstove in the kitchen, is the type with a water tank, oven, etc. so it serves as heat plus most of the cooking I do in the winter. I do have all the "modern" conveniences as well--electric stove, microwave, toaster oven, etc. I have a couple of electric heaters on the second floor where the bedrooms and bathroom are located since the heat from the downstairs only feeds up there through grates in the floor. Needless to say on really cold days the second floor is cold since I only use the electric heaters only when the rooms they are in are actually occupied. I grew up in a house similar to this, and after building two new houses we sold them and moved here as it has 13 acres of land--giving us a little distance from neighbors. My husband grew up out in the country and felt boxed in by neighbors in our last new house. Hope you are preparing for a fabulous weekend. In addition to my seemingly never ending work on the firewood, I have a few more basket to weave for orders and gifts.

Stay warm and safe everyone.

LAPERLE: Thanks for being my friend too. Appreciate your support. Thanks for sharing, it explains it a lot, I get the picture of the farmhouse and why you need that much firewood to heat the house, question, besides firewood do you have gas/electric heat too? I realize that it would be enormous to use only that type of heat as it would be far too costly, just wondering if you use both to heat or if you use firewood for certain rooms and the traditional heating for others, you mentioned wood stoves do you have fireplaces in other rooms, some of these early period homes had fireplaces and used wood burning to keep their homes warm in winter. Sounds like a lovely home. I've been in these homes from the period you mention and they are so beautiful...

Wishing you all a blessed Thursday, keep up the great work... emoticon We Can Together 1 day and 1 step at a time... emoticon emoticon

Yes, JUDITH it is a huge job to get the firewood in. We try to heat our whole house with it during the coldest weather--we do have an oil furnace--but our house is an old farmhouse built in the late 1800's and has some but not adequate insulation. We have over three cord of wood recently delivered for the kitchen wood stove, and a lot more than that for the wood furnace. The wood for the furnace was "log length" until I hired a friend's son to cut and split it for us. My DH used to do it, but he has COPD. Even when he was better able to do it, he never did it until he had to. (As our daughter said recently "dad was never a squirrel") Last year I was trying to help him get wood in after it was covered with ice during January and
February. I decided this year it was going to be inside long before it needed to be burned. I may be working outside now when it is getting cold, but at least we are not desperate for it (having already got a good bit inside) so that I can pick and chose my days. I do have as much as possible covered with tarps until I get it in.

Hope you are having a good day. Thanks for being my friend.

Have been working very hard trying to get outside firewood in before the latest winter storm hit. (It started about noon today.) The problem was that no further wood could be put into the cellar until that which was already in was stacked out of the way. I worked feverishly for a couple of days stacking, and then this morning was able to put quite a bit from outside into the cellar. Now I will have to stack that before I can get any more in (and although what is outside is partially coved it will probably freeze together a bit and be more difficult).

My Spark activity tracker is tracking the work I am doing with the firewood--indicating general exercise--but I need to reclassify it for it to really count. Today's sessions got reclassified as Other exercise--moderate intensity. Does this sound right or has anyone else got an idea what to call it?

Hope everyone is having a good day and not experiencing the weather we are.

Today is the first time in ages that I have been able to get back to Spark. I bought a treadmill to help me with my walking. My doctor told me I have an under active thyroid which may account for my weight gain.

Today is the beginning of the rest of my life.

Busy day ahead. Have some baskets to paint with simple designs, others to clean and then sign and tag them all. This is the count down for the final craft fair of the year. Unfortunately the weather doesn't sound like it will co-operate, but at least the fair is very close to home and DH will drive me to and from the fair.

I, for one, completely understand, JUDITH. December is one of my busiest months so I will probably check in here daily, but as far as participating in challenges, etc. I will take the month off. That is not to say that I will not try to keep my eating, and thus, weight in check, but I will cut out the formal record keeping. I just can't add any more stress to what I need to do. Hope everyone is having a nice day.

Judy,
I'm happy to do it..I am going to try to chat here at least a few times a week. It's a start.

I am finishing up with Christmas decorations,,,I put up 2 trees..(they are only about 2 ft. high), but I leave the lights, and decorations on each year..as it makes it alot easier. I put them in different rooms..I like that. I get these candles that light up when you turn the switch on..I get them at the dollar store, and that way you don't have to worry about real candles...I have quite a few things that require candles, so I really like these and they last 240 hours.
It is very cold this morning..13 below with wind chill of 29 below...brrrrrr...perfect weather for a snowman... emoticon
Have a great day everyone!! Stay warm!!! emoticon

Evening Hello,

Thanks Barb for starting the Team Chat Cafť` Thread for December, it's nice to see you posting with us in this forum... emoticon

Sure has been a cold day, we got snow over the weekend and it has been below freezing temperatures...In spite of the cold temperatures we got a mix of sunny and cloudy skies, the sunshine made the snow glistened and almost sparkle, very pretty...

Hope you all are having a wonderful day...

I encourage you all to post your final results on our November Challenges as the Spark Goodie Awards are coming out on the 1st of your week and our December Team Challenges are coming out December 1st but being posted later this evening.

As always I'm cheering you on for a productive week ahead!
December's Challenges are being posted this evening, hope to see you all onboard for another productive month ahead... emoticon
