Hey Lively Girl,

A modified Jumping jack is the arm movement and stepping out instead of jumping up and down.
So yes I am very Spunky and I am Disabled and if I jump I am likely to cause more spinal damage.
So their you have it.

I love jumping on a trampoline. I'm not really sure if that counts as an exercise, but I love it.

Good morning!

Canmera, I agree with the other posts that if the emails are a distraction, change them into a reward. If you do 5 minutes of some activity, you can read a couple emails, then 5 more minutes to read some more, its a possibility.

I usually wait and sit down for a block of time in front of my computer and look through everything at once. I know that I can possibly miss something that was posted but it really could be an all day thing to go through the emails as they come in. It's just so interesting and motivating to see what everyone is up to.

Good luck today all, lets be a success!

Start out by doing 10 minute implements. It's easier to take breaks and do a 5 or 10 minutes walk several times a day. Even doing a bit every 1-3 hours works for some. emoticon emoticon

Canmera, forget about all the emails! Get up and walk around for a few minutes and the read a couple of emails and then go back to walking around a few more minutes. Before you know it you will have 30 min of movement! It does get easier but you have to push yourself. There's ALWAYS something that is going to be a stumbling block! Just step over it and keep moving! You will be glad you did! Good luck on your journey!! emoticon emoticon

I wish I could answer this with some kind of positive idea. However, I sit in front of my computer rather than doing exercise. My breathing has been really bad of late and so has my rheumatoid in my hands.
I would like to find a way to become more motivated in the exercise dept. I need to do this if I expect to lose weight. Yet I find it rather challenging.

I also find that so many emails make it challenging as I feel I need to answer each one right away.
I will try harder today to start keeping a daily routine of doing some exercise besides house keeping.

My go-to is a DVD, too. When I really don't feel like working out I pop in one of my oldest DVDs, one that I know front to back, know what to expect, know the moves, and yet it still gives me a good, heart-pumping workout.

Lots of great ideas that I plan on using when I need a boost!

My favorite exercise is cardio or yoga, at home with a dvd. I'm not much on exercising in public. I really like weight loss yoga but some videos are done with trainers who don't really know yoga, they just can make a video so you have to watch out for those. My favorite is Biggest Loser Weight Loss Yoga with Bob Harper, he is so sincere! Plus you can select components to your workout and customize your time and your level each time you do the workout.

My all time favorite guy is Gilad! I practically have gone through my fitness life doing his programs on tv and buying his videos. What a dedicated dude!

If I don't make it to the gym or don't feel like going. I can usually force myself to take a short walk. Although the last time I did that it hurt my knees. I like doing water aerobics or lifting weights. I have an elliptical trainer and I will get on that if nothing else works emoticon The pool is my favorite because it doesn't seem like exercise.

If I could swim all year or "play" on a trampoline those would do it for me. It really has to be something that is more fun and playful for me.

Realistically though, what helps the most is meeting my boyfriend up at the gym. I have gotten into my pajamas and said, "I am not going but then when I get that text that he is headed to the gym the desire to see and talk with him helps me get back into gym clothes and get my workout in." It would work with just a friend too it just happens to be my bf in this case.

I actually had one of those days today, and did my exercise at 10pm at night. Me and my little man were at my parents all day and by the time we got home, got him in bed, got my hubby supper I just wanted to lay down and go to bed, but I hadn't missed a day since I started and I tried not to think. Don't over think it, don't dwell on how much I didn't want to do it, just gritted my teeth and did it. I might have to save this post though and look through it again next time I have a day like that.

So far, I haven't cheated since I started last fall, as far as the food goes. The exercising is a different matter. I actually like exercising. I love walking, lifting weights, swimming and many other types of exercise. However, I work nights, sleep a few hours before work, a few hours after work. I am raising a severely autistic granddaughter and have to be here for her. So, I only have about a four hour window each day to get everything I want done. Sometimes, I skip the exercise to get other things accomplished. The one thing I am able to do, provided it is not raining, and it rains a lot in the mid afternoon here in Florida, is walk. I love to walk and I am able to take my granddaughter for a walk with me. If I am by myself, I usually walk around 6-7 miles. When I wait until my granddaughter comes home, I have her up to 3 1/2 miles now. It is the only form of exercise she gets so it is extremely good for her too.

What doesn't kill you will make you stronger

I may fall down, then I get back up, brush myself off, and get back into the race.

I don't have a particular activity, but what I do is tell myself that I only have to 5 minutes' worth of the exercise (if I'm working out alone) or only have to stay through the warm-up (if I'm planning to go to a group class). Usually by the time five minutes has elapsed, I have my head in gear to continue with the planned workout.

If I am partway through a workout and still struggling, it helps me to set very small goals for myself. For example, if I'm running up a steep hill, I tell myself that I just have to make it to the next house/driveway, and then I can walk. It helps me a lot even though I rarely ever do stop because it breaks the goal up into smaller segments, mentally, that are more manageable.

During my prayer and meditation time early every morning, I ask that God direct my life today and to allow me to be of service in any way I can. He must need me to be strong for something because MOST days, I get up and just stick a tape in and do it. I typically do a 45-60 min cardio with weights workout 5 days a week, with yoga the other two days. emoticon

I've got to agree with SMART4ANDREY, some days we are not meant to push. Got to listen to our bodies. They know when we really need a rest day. On those days, I try to be gentle with myself because I know that tomorrow is another day. Today is meant for living and loving it.

it depends really. I've been dealing with heel pain the past few weeks. So when it feels better, I walk. When it doesn't, I try to do my Chris Powell DVD which doesn't involve a lot of pounding on my feet. On days I just don't want to do anything, I try to play with my son. And if I'm really not feeling it. Like sickly feeling, etc, I just don't and take a day off.

It is a great topic...My way of dealing with not feeling like doing exercise is to continue the habit of putting on my pedometer...every day. That way I know I'm getting some walking in. If Icheck it during the day, I get motivated to walk more. Next I choose one house cleaning, gardening or winter "maintenance" task to do. I count doing laundry and ironing, too. Even though I have stopped tracking nutrition (to see if I can do this thing on my own), I always track fitness. For me that is a motivator, too.

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men." - Colossians 3:23
"And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to GOD the Father through Him." Colossians 3:17

Great topic! When I don't feel like exercising, I either put on my bathing suit or go to the family room, turn on the tv and sit on my recumbent bicycle - either way gently leads me to exercising.

My biggest problem is when I go to Kauai to visit DH & DMIL where I don't have ready access to those things!... This really involves creativity...like this trip

Found a Zumba class for tonight. Will be taking short walks the rest of the time and add on anything else. My motivator for actually doing these things - tell my DH my plans - he will gently nag me!

I will take a walk around my neighborhood (with no headphones) and enjoy the sounds and smells. Somehow, without the headphones, it doesn't seem like exercise, lol. Crazy I know, but it works. Now that it's Fall and my favorite time of year it's a real treat.

Hmmm, that's a tough one ....
a tie between go for a walk and get on my recumbent bike...
probably go for a walk.....
BUT, in all honesty - if it's that bad of a day and I don't have it in me to exercise - not exercising usually beats out the going for a walk. Sad, but truthful.

When I feel I "don't" or "can't" exercise, I will try to get on my bike, take one of the bike paths, and enjoy the scenery, say "HI" to other bikers, walkers, or whatever, and that usually helps a lot. I enjoy the sights, and saying hi to others. By that time, I am ready to take a long bike ride.

I tend to make myself walk. I go to a local park and walk the field and not the walking trail. If I walk away from my car, I have to walk back. It seems like a no brainer but I set my phone to go off in 10 mins and if I still am not feeling it, I can just walk back to my car. I have never walk right back to my car. Sometimes, it just the getting started, that stops us. Dance or do squats during commercial breaks are good, too. emoticon

When I can't force myself to do a workout DVD (or Yoga or Tai Chi) and I can't get on the treadmill or down the road for a walk, I garden. I end up walking, reaching, stretching, pulling, and pushing. It's great exercise without being "exercise!"

I mainly walk with a little running in between, but when I dont want to walk, I will just go back to bed after the husband leaves for work & sleep an extra 30/45 min. Then I feel guilty about not walking so I try to get in a walk at work! It helps my feelings some, but then I think "I could of had twice the steps if I would of walked this morning", so I am REALLY trying to just stay up & walk! emoticon

I am going through this rut right now. I have been doing that for the past 3 days and its terrible! I like to dance. So sometimes I will just turn on the radio in my house, blast it really loud, and just sing and dance around like a weird-o lol but it gets my heart pumping and makes me feel a lot better all the way around. I am always smiling and just happy after I dance for a while! I even dance while I am vacuuming or doing the dishes. It just makes doing the chores a little bit easier as well!

Hope this helps!

I was just going to your blog as I received your message about this topic. emoticon

First of all, I always plan my exercises for a week, and I make my plan realistic and specific. So, it's not just to be active for 10-60 min, but exactly which exercise I will do. If you visit my page you'll see an example. I also have a WIDE variety of exercises, so I don't get bored. Turn it into a game. Sometimes I even make a pile of all exercise videos I have and randomly pull out one. AND JUST DO IT. Don't think about, don't let your inner voice to get you off track, don't put it aside for later. Worse case scenario, when nothing works, just get out of house, go for a ride, go to buy that one item of whatever. Good luck!

I'm presently looking for an accountability partner. Would you like to team up with me?

I hate to admit it but knowing you have a problem is the first step, right? If I'm in a real funk and don't want to do my workout, there's nothing that I will motivate myself to do. However, I can tell my husband and he can motivate me to do a workout with him (usually HIIT or weights) - or I can look at my dog who wants nothing more than to go for a walk and I'll give in. Sometimes I need the motivation from an outside source and that's where surrounding yourself with people who believe in you helps!! (luckily it doesn't happen too often)

Some days I wake up and I don't want to exercise, some nights I go to bed I don't want to exercise in the morning:).
So if I don't want to I just don't as simple as that, I'm not on a time frame here.
I don't want to push my body into stress, it's fat but it's the only one I have so I love it.
And most on those days, when I don't workout in the morning I catch up later if I want to.
You actually need to listen to yourself.
And if you skipped your workout don't punish yourself, don't check it out as a bad day, eat junk food and hate yourself afterwards.

Sure it doesn't apply if you're a beginner, cause you need to build you behavior and only then you can ignore it once in a while.

But he has ok'd walking and hiking..and being up here in the Adirondacks, it is the perfect time of year for it!. I get my fill of incredible beauty, get exercise that is most pleasurable, and best of all...time with friends and family...and it is all FREE!

Without a doubt for me right now when that happen it's a small walk that get me going. That's basically all I'm able to do at the moment with some strength training, but knowing that it's just a couple of minutes and that I'll feel great afterwards makes it easier to get up and do it. And the fact that there's no preparation of any kind needed to walk, makes it easier also.

We all have a day where we just don't want to exercise, even though we know we need to. But life gets in the way at times, we get tired and just want to sit and relax in front of the TV. Which then sometimes leads to snacking we don't want to do. So when you hit one of those days what is the exercise you have no problem with getting up to do. Maybe it is taking a walk, yoga, or maybe doing a hard core workout. Just whatever you think I really don't want to exercise today but I won't mind doing this activity to get in my fitness minutes.
