Trying to do a little more so I brought my upper/lower body cycle to work with me and I'm trying to do 5 minutes on it every hour...sometimes more.

Yesterday was 20 minutes, so far today 20 minutes. :-)

Today I went for a walk with a friend I hadn't seen in nearly a month, and she commented that I looked like I was slimming down! I hadn't told her. That made me feel good; must be the muscles I"m building, because I actually haven't lost all that much weight yet. Still, very nice to get some encouragement.

I think links will go up June 21st..at least that's what I gathered based on the mail message.

I will miss out (as mentioned previously).

Mexican vanilla will be purchased (although I have a TON left from the last trip, but it's dark, and I don't have clear). Of course...that just means more baking... =)

Don't worry - I don't actually bake all that much, although I love to. My husband just isn't really into baked goods. Although he's an eater, when it comes to sweets and snacking, he'd much rather go get grapes than eat cookies. Tres Leches cake is a must for his birthday, though, and Mexican vanilla is a requirement. I have it figured using the recipe calculator. You DON'T want to know....it's worse than some of my pies. (Which along with cookies, I am EXCEPTIONAL at. See how I got into this mess?) Ah...down the rabbit trail I went.

I don't think there is one. But I might be wrong.
I think it will just start up on the Spark Solution (the official team) page.
During the first challenge we were instructed what to do a few days before hand and I'm thinking that is how it will be this time.
If anyone knows anything different please let us know.

Good luck sticking to your plan Sue.
I'm having a better food day today now that everyone has gone home.
We're having a family reunion Thus. thru Sat this week. emoticon Food and more food.
This is my life...people come to visit and fix food all through the summer. That's when I usually gain weight. I guess it's too cold for any one to visit in the winter. I stay on a pretty good diet then.
I'm doing better at turning things down at these gatherings.
Have a good day every one!

Well, we all have days where we eat a little more than we'd like. Just get back on track today and you'll be just fine.

Over the weekend, I finished reading the last chapters of the book. And am feeling good, especially about the increased amount of cardio and strength training I'm doing.

Today, my partner and I are starting our yearly food allergy reboot thing, where we cut out all potential food allergens for three weeks, then bring them back in one-by-one in order to identify any sensitivity to particular foods. It takes a LOT of commitment, and is challenging for me, because I don't have any food sensitivities. But she really struggles with her health, and this seems to help her. So I'm in it for the moral support.

All this to say, I won't be following the recipes in the book for a while, but I'll still be Sparking. The diet is very simple--mostly beans, rice and a few other grains, veggies and fruit, and no processed food of any kind--and is structured with full nutrition in mind, so it's right in line with our goals for getting healthier. Wish me luck!

oops. Not a good day food wise for me. I had it all planed out what I was going to eat but I didn't follow through.
Too many people eating all that food and I caved in and joined them.
At least I got up and did my exercises early this morning.
I hope the scale doesn't tell on me in the morning!
Well it was a good weekend and a good Fathers Day.
Dawby be sure and get some Mexican vanilla when your in Mexico because some of the recipes call for vanilla. The vanilla I've got from Mexico is great.
It's protein blueberry pancakes for me in the morning. I could live on those!
I hope everyone had a better day food wise than I did today!

I'll be doing most of week 4 this next week. It'll be a challenge as we will be in Mexico the following week (and I do not track on vacation). That means "clean out the fridge" time. The good news? Most of the leftovers I have are from the healthier options!

Today we have a family reunion, and tomorrow is father's day, which means when I get home I have to bake a pie, and I'm out of town again tomorrow. What does this mean?

I got up at 6:30 am to do today's fitness.
On a Saturday.
In the summer.

Heck, 6:30 is earlier than I get up during the school year (except debate season).

I figured I could take a nap in the car. (See, I also stay up really late in the summer.)

On the plus side, there were only three other people at the gym. One was on an elliptical. The other two were a couple of those "buff dudes" you see that are usually annoying and hog all the equipment you want to use ...and swear a lot. I was skeptical at first. The did pepper their conversation, but they were VERY respectful of the equipment and space. Their conversation was at an indoor voice, and what I DID catch of it was pretty entertaining. =)

Is anyone going to join the SS challenge June 24?
I'm going to start it all over again for the challenge.
I think I have this figured out food wise.
I'll be much more prepared this time around.
I'm going to make several things ahead of time and freeze them so it won't be so over whelming.
Have a great weekend every one!

Hello! It has been a busy week for me, but, I am happy to report that I am still sticking with it! I am proud of that. I haven't checked the scale b/c I don't want to get in the habit of doing that each day. This past Sunday I prepared a lot of portable or easy to put together breakfasts and lunches, so that helped. This might be TMI, but I got my TOM like 2.5 weeks early, so that was a bit of a challenge. Thank goodness for the chocolate fondue!!! Just enough chocolate to take care of that craving! Tonight I made pizzas, no, not in the book...but I made them healthy with spinach, mushrooms, two tablespoons of cheese and Canadian bacon. I was worried I would go over my calorie range, but I did not and that pizza was soooooooooooooo good! Tonight when I got home from work, I took my pants off without unbuttoning them, haha! Well, just checking in! Don't give up, girls! We can do it!

Thanks to everyone who's listed their favorite SS recipes; many of the favorites I haven't tried yet, so that gives me something to look forward to!!

I tried the pork tenderloin this evening. It was a bit bland for my taste, but we don't eat pork very often, so it was still something special.

I've got muscles busting out all over the place!! That's the good news. The bad news is that I have something like 800 calories to burn on cardio in the next two days. I'm going to try to mow the lawn with our non-electric push mower tomorrow and jazzercise on Saturday. There'll probably be a few brisk walks in there as well, and who knows? I might even wash the windows. emoticon

Marliis, I hope your heart is back to a healthy rhythm!

Great job Dawby!
I'm still trying to eat like I'm suppose to. I made the mac-n-cheese again a few nights ago and that lasted 2 days. I put a lot more garlic in it that I did the first time. It sure fills you up.
I haven't lost any more the past few days but have to admit that I've been backsliding a bit because of company and birthday parties.
I was hoping to see 130 by Mon. I am now hoping for at least 131.
I don't have trouble with the exercise part because that has been part of my daily routine for about 6 months now.
I do miss a few days here and there but for the most part I get at least 22 to 30 min. in per day.
I hope some more people from our group posts and let's us know how they are doing.
It's been a good week for me but I'm glad tomorrow is Fri.!
Have a good evening everyone!

Really? No one has checked in for two days?

Week 3 has been a bit tough for me. Although I enjoyed several of the recipes (others I won't try, because they involve foods I don't like), I do want to cook less and keep a variety going.

I did do the inside-out burgers last night, and I really enjoyed them, although I think I would put mushrooms in them.

Other foods I found good: the salmon, the pan chicken (the Carolina bbq was OK, not great), and the chili.

For exercise, it was pretty easy for me to add minutes to the cardio, although I can't run on the treadmill at the rates they want me to. Two weeks ago I got a stitch and had trouble finishing - and stopped a lot - I lowered the incline this time, adjusted the pace, and kept the same time. I didn't get beat up by it but still felt like it was a good workout. I have not enjoyed adding a rep to the strength training, but I hate that part of it, anyway. I'm doing one of the gym equipment programs from spark people instead, as it is easier to adjust for an issue with my left hand than what's in the book. I'm working the same muscles, but aside from lifting weights, what I really don't like is the clientele that I can't escape from the gym - no matter what time I go. Erg. I'm keeping at it, though.

I lost another two pounds from week two, and this week is showing progress!

I like the SS recipes. Most of them are really fast and easy to make. When we do not have to spend a lot of time in the kitchen is easier to stick to the diet.

Marlis,

Congrats on your good health numbers! That is awesome -- we know when we are feeling better and have more energy, etc. but it is always nice to have it confirmed by someone who can measure the important numbers! Keep up the good work. You have been a great leader for our group and I admire your perseverance. And a half pound is a half pound. I would be happy with it -- especially considering you probably gained another half pound at least in muscle with all you are doing.

Have a great day everyone! Move your body today and eat healthy!

Good Evening. I want to, at least, check in.
Only lost .5# this week, but the trend is downwards, and that is the goal.

Went to my anticipated doctor's appointment, this morning. He didn't like what he saw and told me that my heart is racing and irregular. Well, I had figured that out during my swim and even golfing, when walking up the many hills we have.
The good news was that my chest x-ray looked good. No fluid in my lungs. My blood test was so good, that the doctor called me at 6:30 PM tonight. He was elated and didn't stop talking. He thought whatever I am doing, is right on and asked me to continue it. The total cholesterol is way down, 163. My HDL is up, the LDL is down, Triglyceride in finally in the normal range. Thyroid is good. You name it. Best news I could have heard today.
He made an appointment for me with the cardiologist, because he is really concerned about my heart beat (the reason I went to see him). So, now, I am on 81 mg. Aspirin, and he prescribed some medication that will slow my heart down. No coffee, no tea, no alcohol, no exercising. I was able to talk him into letting me try to golf, tomorrow, with the promise on my part that I will quit as soon as it becomes laborious. No swimming, though, nor can I work out with my trainer. Well, my appointment with the cardiologist is on Thursday, and I am hoping for a stress test. We will see.

I, too, tried the protein pancake this morning with some fresh berries. I did not always stick to the meals in the book, but, I felt, I was already eating a very healthy diet. Tonight, I had a salad with all sorts of vegetables and 3.5 oz. of. wild salmon. I am worried about my weight not exercising. It means, I have to cut back on my calorie intake.

I will see.

Great job, ladies. I totally forgot that we have been together for two weeks already. Let's keep on keeping each other company and discuss the progress or failures we might encounter. I really think the support will help us all, and I don't think any of us has reached her goal yet.

Hang in there!

Hello! Congratulations to everyone for making such great choices! I can't believe the first 14 days are done! It was definitely a challenge to make all of those meals each and every day! I am proud of myself because I did what I set out to do, I stuck with it and I lost weight. This week I stayed the same, but last week was a shocker. I am continuing the plan for as long as it takes! I will, of course, make adaptions. I will not be making 3 different meals each day, I will be making things so I can have leftovers! I feel so good! My favorite dishes were the protein pancakes, the stuffed pancakes (yum!), philly cheesesteak, Meg's chicken, spinach-feta wrap, and more! There were only a few recipes I didn't like, or could live without. I tried the Carolina bbq chicken...not my fave! I did not like the breakfast cookie AT ALL!

Anyway, sorry this is short tonight, but I am tired and it's a work night! Keep going, girls! We can do it!

Hello,
I have lost 2 lbs. these first 2 weeks. I will take that seeing how I've been at a standstill for over a month.
If I keep going on that way I will be at my short term goal of 130 Lbs. in 2 weeks. That will be very exciting to me because I have had that (short term goal) for a long time.
I actually started back at day 1 today and had the bacon- Swiss scramble again.
My all time favorite SS recipe has to be the protein pancakes with blueberries.
I made up 2 batches of them this morning and put them in the freezer.
# 2 on my list is the Hot apple tart. If you haven't tried it you should.
#3 are the Quick Chicken enchiladas that I am going to make tomorrow again
#4 would be the Bacon-Swiss scramble
#5 Alfredo Pasta with Broccoli I freezes well and I thought it tasted better after I froze it and warmed it up. I will be making that again.
The one think I didn't rally care for was the breakfast cookie.
I did make other recipes but this list is getting rather long.
I am going to continue with this plan and see how it goes the next two weeks.
I hope everyone else will stay on board also and post when you can.
Have a great evening and happy Sparking!

I'm bumming out because I've actually GAINED weight on this program. Ug!!

But the good news is, I can really see my muscles becoming more defined. And I do feel better about myself when I exercise and eat healthily. So I'm sticking to it, in it for the long haul. The weight will come off eventually if I continue to make healthy choices.

How'd everyone else's weigh-in go today?

Hi Guys,

Checking in -- had a busy weekend and didn't cheat at all, and kept the body moving. It is hard to juggle everything with the cooking, exercising, keeping the house going and I am taking a stock investing course so that takes a lot of time as well, and then I have kids and grandkids that I get to spend time with. I have learned that my priorities are with my family first and foremost so I will not shortchange them or me in that regard. So, yes all the cooking is worth it because if we have our health we will be able to enjoy the other aspects of our lives that we cherish!

And yes I loved the Meg's Pan Chicken recipe. Still have the leftover issue but that's alright. What a wonderful problem to have!

Got to go work on my stock course. I commend everyone for sticking with the program!

Take care,

Sheila emoticon emoticon

I'm hanging in there - exercise is kicking my butt, but that's good, because it means I'm challenging myself.

Meg's pan fried chicken was GREAT as a cold leftover on top of a spinach salad yesterday. I did have a fast food dinner, as I had gone to my husband's band practice with him, and that's where HE went. It was 10pm, but I hadn't eaten dinner and had eaten VERY sensibly the rest of the day. After logging the food, I STILL hadn't even hit my minimum yet.

I am still having trouble balancing time for preparing food (I really do hate to cook, but I love baking - part of my problem!) and getting at least 10,000 steps in for my fitbit AND getting my crochet done. Summer is big for me on that, and I enter multiple items in our state fair (and generally take home multiple ribbons, too!). The big issue is that although crocheting allows me to keep my hands off food (Can't eat cheese puffs while making intricate white lace tablecloths, now can we? Unless we want sticky orange intricate lace tablecloths, of course.), it is a sedentary activity. Getting those NEAT minutes in is HARD.

On the other hand, I do get restless, so I give in and do something more active, which takes me away from my work...and makes me feel all guilty.

On a (mostly) unrelated note, I hate the strength training, BUT I have noticed that on those days my posture has really improved.

Just a quick check-in, tonight. I am so tired.

Had a very enjoyable day with a friend of mine (our husbands played in a two-day golf tournament and - WON!). My friend Sandy and I drove to Carson City to do some shopping, then had lunch that we brought from home - HEALTHY! - and then we drove off to the Governor's Mansion , that is the gardens behind the mansion, where we listened to the Carson City Symphony, a fabulous singer, the Symphony Chorus, and the Young Symphony. All of them fabulous. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I must confess, my husband wasn't hungry because he had a late lunch at the club, and I didn't feel like cooking. So, after having eaten only fruit and fresh vegetables w/hummus all day, I started nibbling on some Welsh Cheddar and some crackers, something I haven't done in a while. In other words, I had very little protein, today. Back to the grinding stone, tomorrow.

I am keeping this short, because I have an early morning doctor's appointment, tomorrow morning. I did not exercise, today, nor did I track my food. I might do it tomorrow.

Good Night.

Hello,
It has been a good weekend for me.
This morning I made the protein pancakes and put blueberries in mine and strawberries in my husbands. I think I could eat those every day.
This afternoon I made the Mexican pizza. It was good but I would call it a toastada.
Over the last two weeks I have found even though I thought I was eating healthy food, I haven't been eating enough of them every day.
When I eat the meals in the book I stay full longer and don't want anything until my next meal.
I found that making new food is fun and want to continue to make new recipes each week. Not a new one every day though.
I now I will see results if I continue to eat the way I have been with SS.
I hope to see everyone's results tomorrow.
Mine aren't earth shaking but I feel better than I did 2 weeks ago.
I wish everyone continued success in their journey.

I participated in group one and saw great results. Week three Instayed on track with dinners but got off on breakfast and lunches, week for was good most days but this weekend kicked my butt. I never made time to create a week five meal plan, and to be honest I did better when I followed the books week one meal planso I used that as my grocery list and decided to start o we again with week one.

I have one serving of the Protein Pancakes, three slices of the Better Banana Bread and three of the Spinach-Feta Wraps in the freezer plus a lot of fresh pineapple, apples and peaches so breakfast is taken care of. It's hot today and I had a heavy lunch (beer battered fish & chips...) so I'm doing the Trim Taco Salad for dinner tonight and lunch tomorrow, then going down the week one dinners with Southwestern Chicken and Rice on Monday and the not-so-Quick Chicken Enchiladas on Tuesday. I forget what comes after that but I've shopped for it.

This would all be easier if I had someone to shop, cook and pack lunches for me...

Hey guys!

Thought I'd check in -- having a busy weekend -- still on track with food and exercise. Had a fun time at the yard sale and was able to take healthy snack and stay on track. I'm going to go work out now and get that over with and hopefully do a little extra today. Hope everyone is able to get through the weekend staying healthy and active!

I've got to figure out what I'm going to fix for dinner and I'll look at the Spark Solution Recommendation and see if that's going to work for us or if I need to run up to the store.

I guess I really need to work out the weekly meal planning better in my life. I have kind of come to that realization this week. Okay, another life lesson here that I need to learn to be successful in the long run. So next week my goal is to plan for the week and now be on the European plan of shopping daily.

Hope everyone is doing well and wishing you all the best!

Good to see everybody check in and still being on track.

We took a Costco run this morning, to load up on fruit and vegetables. Had to rearrange the refrigerator to get everything in. Actually, we have a second refrigerator in the garage which helps when you load up on produce as I have.

After that, I went to the pool expecting lots of people. There was actually just one other person in the lap pool, and he quit after my 30th. lap. It felt so good to have the pool for myself, I swam another 20 laps. This is my longest swim this season, so far and it actually felt great. Still had breathing problems during the first 20 laps, but then, I fell into a pattern and it felt quit good.

Food was also as planned. For the 5% Challenge, another team I belong to, expects us to add up our daily sodium consumption. Can you imagine how difficult that is? In my estimation, you can just guess it. Sure, I look up how much sodium my condiments have, the vinegar I use, how much red salt my husband put on our salmon, etc., but, please, it just can't be very accurate. Well, if the goal was for us to become aware of how much sodium we eat daily, then the leaders of our group have won. So, for breakfast I stuck with just fruit and Kefir. For lunch I had sugar peas and radishes with hummus, followed by more fruit. The label will tell me how much sodium is in hummus. For dinner, it was a huge salad with my own dressing and wild salmon. Oh my.

Tomorrow and Sunday, my husband will be playing in a golf tournament, so staying with the diet will be much easier for me. Sunday, he will have an awards luncheon after the tournament, and knowing him, he will just have something to nibble on instead of dinner. So, I should be in good shape for this weekend.

Sheila, another pound gone. Good for you! Don't work too hard at your daughter's yard sale, tomorrow.

All of you, have an enjoyable, successful Saturday!

Marlis

I haven't been able to post for a few days. I've had computer problems, but could read your posts on my Kindle. They kept me focused. Thank you!

I enjoyed the Cobb Salad today and surprisingly I didn't get hungry after. I don't like Buffalo Wings or Buffalo chicken so I cooked salmon steaks instead. I have been so hungry for salmon steaks instead of fillets. I grew up in the Northwest and every summer we had fresh king salmon steaks. So even today - it isn't summer without. Thank God they are healthy, right? **Suzie

Hi Guys, Checking in for just a minute as I have to get to ed early and go to my daughter's yard sale (an hour away) by 7 a.m. Why am I doing this??? It will be fun when I get there and good to see my granddaughters as well. Good healthy eating today and moved the old body. Took a nap this afternoon -- needed it. So off to the races tomorrow! Sounds like everyone is still on track and cooking. I am taking healthy snacks and my lunch so I don't get off track. Plan ahead for the weekend!

Have a great day tomorrow!

Sheila

P. S. I lost a pound! Yea!!

I can't believe how quickly this week went! I'm getting more into the swing of cooking all this food and it isn't taking me quite so long to prepare each of the meals which is good. I'm hoping I can stick with it and keep cooking healthy meals and fit it into my 'normal' life. I'm getting ready to add my rice to the slow cooker chicken and while it's cooking I'll do some power yoga. I'm exicted to try it- it smells delicious!

Hello team,
Hope everyone is having a good Fri.
I'm more on track today. I got up and made the banana bread. I put my left over cranberries in it and I thought it was really good.
I don't know about the rest of you but I'm just finally getting into the swing of this. I didn't think I'd like doing all this cooking when I first started but now I think it's fun trying new recipes.
I didn't eat the way I should have 2 days ago and I was hungry all day. These recipes have a way of staying with you until the next meal.
I am a lot more organized now than I was when we started.
You're all doing a great job!

I played golf, today. The weather was gorgeous. Actually it hit 100* in downtown Reno, I had to take my dh to pick up his car from the Ford dealer, but it was 93* when I returned home. We are at an altitude of 5300 ft. and it is always up to 10* cooler than in Reno.

I just had one half of a serving of Oatmeal this morning, with a 1/4 grated apple, cinnamon, some half & half. I took a sliced apple with me to have as a snack as we played golf. Didn't feel like eating at the club, drove home to make a healthy smoothie and then took dh downtown. Tonight, neither one of us felt very hungry, so we just ate some cantaloupe w/Italian Prosciutto. Not the best as far as sodium goes, but we enjoyed it.

We will continue to have high temperatures through the weekend. Sunday, a friend and I will go to the Governor's Mansion for a Symphony concert, outdoors. Our husbands are playing in a golf tournament together, so Sandy and I will drive to Carson City (NV's Capital) just 30 min. away, do some shopping in the morning and then go to the concert. Should be fun.

Remain steadfast. The second week is almost over. Good luck!

Hello, Everyone!

I haven't posted in a couple of days...been busy working and preparing food. I wanted to report that I had emailed SparkCoach to ask about losing 11 lbs. last week, and how worried I was about it. I got a good response that basically told me that my metabolism really started responding to all the healthy changes I have been making and not to worry about it, but stay hydrated. That calmed me down a bit. It seems that things are leveling out this week.

I haven't been too excited about all of this week's recipes. I did love the turkey chili and the creamy english muffin. Oh, and the Philly Cheesesteak was delicious! I, too, have been having leftovers gallore! My fridge is packed, and I have a big LG refridgerator! We got it a while back because we needed a bigger one...I joked the other day that we need a bigger fridge, haha! Restaurant size, maybe!

Next week, my goal is to figure out how to do everything I do plus getting better about my exercise. I have gotten some, but not everyday. I do get tons of NEAT minutes at my job. I am a music therapist in the activity therapy department in a large hospital, so I move a lot throughout each day.

Anyway, here is my update so far...I am very proud of us! It is hard work, but so worth it! Tomorrow is day 12!

Keep up the good work, everyone! "Spark Cheers!"

PS/Feel better Leslie!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that the recipes have been kind of flat and in need of salt. I am not one to add salt to everything I eat and especially not before trying something, but I do season my food as I cook. I think most of the recipes have been good with a little bit of adjustment. I haven't made the granola since I have several bags of gluten free granola in the pantry, but I did do the cherry and pistachio parfait the other night and my husband and I both liked that.

Mmmm....I needed a snack today and made myself a yummy parfait as follows:

1/4 cup sliced strawberries
2 T fat free light vanilla yogurt
1 T of the quick granola
Repeat (once)

I'm normally not into that sort of thing, but it REALLY hit the spot and will hold me over until dinner (doing the salmon if it is thawed, leftovers if it is not).

Did the strength today as indicated and did exceed reps on all but one by as few as two and as many as 10. The one I didn't exceed, I did the same, so at least no backsliding.

My husband is on his own schedule. He doesn't eat well, per se, but does eat when and only when he is hungry, regardless of the time of day. (in a good way...he does not constantly graze, he just doesnt stick to "regular" eating times...if I cook dinner and he is not hungry, he will not eat) Yesterday he took a long motorcycle ride with a buddy, had lunch on the road, then came home and slept until 9 pm.....when he wanted pizza.

I love pizza.
So much.

If I could only eat 5 foods for the rest of my life, pizza is one of them.

BUT, I found him some leftovers instead. He has not tried the fried chicken or the pork tenderloin. He didn't like the slaw, but he did like the chili. He had at least two bowls.

So far I have enjoyed the recipes I have made, even the slaw which breaks some of my food mixing boundaries. However, as flavorful as they are, every single dish has needed both salt and pepper.

Hello team,
Let's just say LIFE is happening this week... I haven't stayed on track this week but I haven't given up. I think by the weekend things will be back to normal around here for awhile. I want to start week 2 over then and make some of the recipes. I too have left overs and have been eating them.
I'll write more tomorrow when I get the time.

Get well soon, Leslie. emoticon

My party last night at the winery was fun. The buffet wasn't all that, so I mostly just munched on veggies and had some popcorn when I got home. And I ended up winning two month-long passes to the YMCA in the silent auction.

My partner and I are working our way through two jazzercise passes right now, but once we're done with those, we'll be able to switch it up and see what the Y has to offer.

Alright, I'm off to make lunch--tuna steak and a big salad--then walk to the library (I'm working there this afternoon). It's a few miles away, so I'll get in a good bit of cardio!

Hi Guys,

Leslie, sorry you are not feeling well at all -- we all do have those days! I have had a tendency toward migraines in my life and just have not had any for a while -- it's been a couple of months now which is a record. Stress and wheat are my biggest triggers. In general since I found out I was gluten intolerant and got that out of my system my allergies went away and I can only think of having 1 or 2 migraines (which were much shorter and less severe). Anyway, the exercise I have been doing seems to have given me a sense of overall well being that I can't really explain. I have lots to do today - cleaning out my junk room -- does anyone else have one of those? I am a collector (antiques, auction stuff, you know, junk). So voila a junk room. Every once in a while I get rid of almost everything in it and vow to not collect anymore -- so this is one of those times. This time instead of collecting more I will dive into finishing my gluten free cookbook (its low cal by the way.) My vision collage is working.

By the way, I have 2 refrigerators full of leftovers from making all these recipes -- does anyone else have that problem -- so for the next few days we are having leftovers -- at least I don't have to cook. With just DH and myself there is just so much food left over!

Marlis, you are such an inspiration to me -- I can't wait for the pool water to warm up -- starting to wonder if it will ever happen. It's been cool here the past couple of days and today is so gloomy. Well, much to do -- got to run. Thanks for being an encouragement you guys!

Take care,

Sheila emoticon

I wrote a post this afternoon, but it disappeared in Cyberland.

Sheila, you are very talented to put a collage like that together. I don't know if I would still have the patience to accomplish something like this.

Let me be brief tonight, because I am quite tired, and have a lot of additional things to do.
Worked out with my trainer this morning and then went to the pool to get a swim in. I decided to only swim 24 laps, but wanted to see if my breathing problem is still affecting me. It went much better, but I will still go and see the doctor on Monday.

Glad to hear that you are all still doing well and watching your diet.

For breakfast, I had oatmeal with one half of a grated apple and cinnamon in it. I added about 2oz. of milk and some slivered almonds. I am always yearning for that little bit of crunch. For lunch I ate a serving of the 3-bean chili w/vegetables, I fixed the other day. It kept me going until dinner. Dh wanted to go out and eat Thai food tonight. I shared lettuce wraps with him and had a salad after that. No wine, no beer. Stuck to my water. All in all, a good food day.

Tomorrow morning, I will play golf again.

Have a pleasant evening.

I am really behind on posting since I got waylaid by a migraine Monday afternoon and didn't get out of bed until Wednesday morning. I lost 1.8 pounds last week and when I got on the scale this morning I had lost 7.5 pounds while I was sick. I know that most of that will come back as soon as I start eating and stop throwing up and believe me it was not worth it. Needless to say exercise has gone out of the window also. I hope to be feeling stronger tomorrow and will try to get in at least a little exercise.

Hi Guys,

I am staying within my calorie range and getting on the treadmill -- today cardio for 45 minutes. Spark Coach requested a Vision Collage so I spent quite a bit of time putting one together. I posted it as a blog, but the photo isn't that great. It is quite motivating for me as I combined my desire to be a writer together with my desire to lose the weight. I put three of my favorite writers on it and the skinny jeans I want to fit into as well as strong women on it and also one with that little black dress I'd love to fit into. Also, included motivational statements and a Chapter One and a The End for the completion of a book. I'm working on a cook book that I really need to complete (gluten free recipes). Stop by my Spark Page if you get a chance and see if you can tell who the authors are.

Had a good diet and exercise day and I'm proud of you guys for sticking with yours and resisting lots of temptations.

Take care,
Sheila emoticon

Dawby, I think you did fabulously!! That was a lot of different challenges going on at once, and you handled them all well. We're in it for the long haul, and so learning how to indulge in moderation is part of the picture. emoticon

I had a deadline this morning, so skipped my workout in order to get to work early. But I just did the exercise later in the day (more of the SparkPeople Cardio Blast), so I still got my work-out in.

Today I tried the sweet and creamy muffin for breakfast (my kind of breakfast!!) and the speedy turkey chili for lunch. I'm enjoying adding new recipes to my repertoire. Tonight I've got another party to go to, this one at our local winery, which is one of my favorite places to be on a beautiful summer day. I'm wearing a pretty new dress I got on clearance last fall and am feeling confident about my ability to stick to the healthy options on the appetizer buffet. (I'm going with a friend who is one of the healthiest eaters I know, so I'll just try to mimic what she's doing! emoticon )

I MOSTLY stuck to the plan of attack.

We DID end up with a table at the venue, so not as much time on my feet.

I DID indulge a bit at Zombie Burger. No fries wasn't a worry. Bun or not, when you eat something that topped with deep fried mac and cheese, you're in for the long haul. (Actually, I didn't order that, but that's the kind of fare they feature. That and Twinkie shakes called a "Tallahassee".)

Although I did go over on calories, that damage wasn't terrible. I think I did more to sabotage my own efforts earlier in the day. I could have made better choices at breakfast and lunch to hold me over. It was a LONG afternoon. Once I was in the car, no problem, but between lunch and leaving was TOUGH.

So far, I haven't noticed any drastic damage (the scale only showed a couple ounces change between yesterday and today...and today was lower). The AM cardio did kick my heinie, but I hit the gym at 8:30, like usual. Actually, I haven't had that good a workout off a bike in a while!

It's good to know that most of you have a Plan B when life just gets too busy.

Good job, Terry, even if the evening wore you out.

Dawby, just don't eat the bun, should you end up with a hamburger, tonight. No French Fries is another suggestions, although, I admit, when my husband orders one, I will always have 2 or 3 French Fries, because I never order them.

Sue, look at you and Strength Training! Easy does it. One day at a time. It gets easier, the longer you stick with it.

Well, I played golf today. It was a beautiful day, although it got hot towards the end. I am so grateful that as of June 1, we are starting to play at 8:00 AM. The rest of the week, I saw in the paper this morning, we will have temperatures in the mid-90s. I think Summer has finally arrived. The club served a lunch more to my liking, today. It was Mahi-Mahi, topped with Mango Salsa and iceberg lettuce (not my favorite anymore). I did not have a roll. emoticon

Off to get busy.

Great job on the strength exercises Sue! emoticon
Stick with your plan of attack Dawby and have fun!
Marlis, your doing a great job and your husband losing weight is an extra bonus!
My highlight of the day yesterday was seeing the scale go down and the rest of the day went down hill from there.
I had planned what to fix and my mom showed up with baked spaghetti she made and wanted to share. I measured out 1 cup full and had that. Later in the evening when I was going to fix a taco salad I had company show up then 2 more families showed up and they all decided to order pizza. I ate a half a piece of one of theirs. My husband ate a lot and regretted it this morning. He said he liked the food I've been fixing better.
The last person left a little after 9 and I was beat and didn't do my exercises. emoticon
I'm happy to report today is going much better. I had the Trim taco salad for lunch and hopefully will be able to fix the Alfredo Pasta this evening. I still have to get my exercises in then.
You never know what's going to happen around here or who is going to show up. I'm glad everyone wants to come visit but it gets kind of crazy sometime.
Wishing every one a good day! Keep on Sparking!

Good luck tonight, DAWBY. I'm not sure what kind of concert it is, but if it's feasible, you can dance hard enough (and long enough, even if it's in 10 minute chunks) for it to count as your morning cardio. Let us know how it goes!!

I have progress to report!! When I started the program last week, I could only get through one round of the strength exercises. This morning I did two rounds, plus two rounds of arm exercises. I'm getting stronger!

Today and tomorrow will be a challenge.

I am going to a concert tonight and out to dinner ahead of time.

Challenges:
-pacing my calories today to stave hunger but allow for a restaurant
-the restaurant COULD be Zombie Burger
-I might have trouble getting my fitbit 10,000 steps in (it is raining so dog walking is limited)
-it is at a bar
-not getting home until 2am will make 8:30 AM cardio difficult at best tomorrow

Positives:
-we leave at 5, so timing is not a huge issue, and I have plenty of filling and reasonable calorie leftovers
-since my husband is not going and @ ZB sides are extra, I can more easily keep calorie control.....if we do not go to ZB it will be much easier to not go overboard in general (Zombie Burger is uber special and a genuine treat)
-the concert starts at 9 (doors at 8) and ends at midnight, so I will at least be up on my feet for several hours (and grooving!)
-I was invited by the mom & aunt of a recently graduated student (who is also going), so it would be too weird to drink
-I can do cardio later in the day....or at 2am & stay up :)

So at least I have a plan of attack!

Today for exercise, I tried out the Coach Nicole cardio DVD that came as a bonus for buying the book. It came in handy, since I'm busy every night this week, so won't be able to make it to my normal exercise classes.

I haven't had fettucine alfredo in probably about 10 years, so I can't say how close to the traditional version the Spark Solution recipe is. I could definitely taste the beans, but that actually worked for me, since Pasta e fagioli was one of my comfort foods from childhood.

I finished up with a meeting earlier than I expected, so am going to take the opportunity to prepare the turkey chili we'll be eating tomorrow. If I'm lucky I'll even have time to fold the laundry!!

I thought I had posted this morning, but I guess, I did not.

I lost 1.5#, after losing 4# last week. So, I am not too unhappy but was looking for a solid 2#.

I am amazed at all the success stories, today. Way to go, girls! That is really, really amazing. Keep up the good work. I am so proud of all of you. We have to invite the authors of the book to our thread and let them read those success stories for themselves. It should please them.

I feel a little better this morning and worked out with my trainer. She was concerned when I told her how I felt after my swim yesterday. I might call my primary and have him set up our yearly appointment. He usually calls me, because I am so healthy, and he won't prescribe my cholesterol medication unless he sees me in person. Every time I go in, and I am serious, when I say that I only see him once a year, he asks me "and why are you here, today?" I keep on responding "I have no idea. Your office called me." Lucky me; so far, at least.

Have a busy day with laundry and ironing. I am on my fourth load. I rather be swimming or walking. We will have temperatures in the 90s all week. Tomorrow is golf.

Keep up the good work. It does pay off as long as with stick to the program and track every bite that goes into our mouth. Glad to have you all with me on my journey.

Four pounds for me...and an inch in a couple of key places - yay!

I did not go totally exercise-free yesterday. I don't really "count" my walks (except as NEAT), but I did some mini trampoline. I did the pork last night, and it turned out great. Tonight is the chicken, which sounds VERY good.

Congrats, everyone!

I lost the 1 lb this week but I will take it and I am burning off that next pound. Congrats to all on your weight loss and hard work and commitment. Just remember its hard to beat someone who won't quit! Babe Ruth. That inspires me so much! I'm proud of you guys.

Wow UCANGOHOME, that is a lot. If you normally eat a lot of processed food, my guess is that a lot of that weight loss is from flushing the salt out of your body (since it causes water retention). All the same, I bet that feels good!!

I started the plan the day after I got back from vacation, so I can't really say what I've lost. My weight was wonky last week since I'd just spent two days in a car eating a fair amount of processed food. But at this point I'm within a pound of what I weighed when I left on vacation.

Looking forward to a healthy week!!

Um...I don't know how this is possible, but I promise, I have checked it, and checked it...I dropped 11 pounds last week with sticking to this plan. I am excited, but worried at the same time. I did cut quite a few calories in my daily life and I have been extremely active. Also, I am a big girl. I know it isn't good to lose that fast...but I guess I'll take it! Any insight would be appreciated! Have a great day, everyone

I lost 3 pounds this week!

I finally broke the plateau. It took a long time but I think the trick was that I finally stopped being stubborn and accepted the fact that I was going to have to exercise. I don't love it yet but I like it better than I did. I am feeling energetic this morning and of course happy with the progress. **Suzie

I am so thrilled that we are all doing so well. I am feeling a bit better tonight.
Dh asked me after dinner how I am doing with my diet. He ate a lot of the stuff I fixed, and exclaimed: "I have lost three pounds with your food plan." I wished I had. We will see tomorrow morning.

Best wishes for a successful second week. Let's keep up the momentum!

Hey guys,

I had a great no cheat weekend and worked out both days, so I am sticking with the program. I am working the plan and admiring what all you guys are doing as well. Marlis, you are amazing, all your workouts will pay off in the end. Wow! My daughter, Kelly and my 2 granddaughters came out and the girls swam but the water was still too cold for Kelly and me. Kids never mind the cold water. I guess we should be more like them. At any rate, after they went home I took a much needed nap and then got up and did a nice workout on the treadmill as it was raining here. At least I didn't have to water the garden or my strawberry plants I have in pots on the deck. All in all a nice weekend! See you guys tomorrow!

Take care,
Sheila emoticon emoticon

I am happy to report that I made it through week 1! I feel so much better! I have been sticking with the menus in the book as closely as possible. The cooking and hours spent in the kitchen have been kicking me in my butt! I keep reminding myself why I am doing this. I want to be healthy. I actually went to a wedding last night and was able to pre plan. They were having a pasta bar, so knowing that, I had switched the macaroni and cheese night with pork tenderloin night. This worked nicely. They didn't have whole wheat pasta, so I only took about a cup. I also swithced my light beer that I was supposed to drink in the afternoon at work (haha!) with my Saturday night snack. I did not eat cake, even though I wanted to. Instead I had put 1 weight watcher's mints in my purse for dessert. All in all, not a bad day.

This morning we had the protein pancakes, which were pretty tasty, to my surprise! Had Meg's chicken tonight and loved it. I am becoming a fan of Panko!

I cannot tell a lie...I did step on the scale tonight--4 or 5 times because I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I will write more about that tomorrow!

Well, I hope everyone is doing alright! Here's to WEEK 2! Go for it! emoticon

I loved the better BLT and the curried tuna salad sandwiches also. I have to admit that I couldn't stand having food going to waste. I ate the leftovers by substituting them for the planned meals. I am not sure we have to follow the plan without deviation, but we do need to get relatively the same nutrients and calories. We also need to try the new recipes and new foods and flavors.

The exercise routine is getting easier. As I said earlier, that is the hardest part for me. Overall I am pleased with this first week. I learned a great deal and I think I lost a few pounds. I know I feel better! **Suzie

Thanks Grandma (feels funny calling you that...ha ha), the weather hit not too long after I wrote my last post on here and the electricity did go out but it just now came back on. We had high winds but they weren't that bad, we got NO hail, and we did get much needed rain. So it was a good storm.

Glad you had a good week. For each of us, there is some adaptation but that's what makes the plan good. We can adapt it to fit our needs. emoticon emoticon

Another good day for me. The whole weekend went well. I turned down 2 invitations to go to lunch . One yesterday and one today.
I'm finding that 2 meals work for me with a couple of snacks in between. I'm 5'2 and over 50 so I'm not to eat as many calories.
I made the pancakes AGAIN this morning. I really like them. I had the fish this evening. It was a big hit.
I've been making a smoothie every evening to get all my fruit in.

Sue, I have a lot of food left over from this week also. I hope it doesn't go bad before I can use it.
Marilyn, I hope the bad weather bypassed you.
Marlis, I wish it was warm enough to go swimming here. It's 66 here right now. 85 sounds wonderful!
Good job losing the Lbs. last week!
Be sure and post your weight tomorrow so we can see how may pounds our group lost this past week! emoticon

I decided to swim earlier this morning, figuring that the pools will be crowded, as the colleges are out for the summer. I am not sure about elementary and high schools. I was the only person, until a couple showed up that had just finished playing tennis. Only she swam, while he was on the cell phone. After they left, I was again the only one around. I had a tough time with the first 20 laps. Just ran out of steam and breath. But I worked through it and did another 20 laps and felt better about it. However, at home, I still felt wiped out for some reason. I figured I would do better after eating something. I made the "Better BLT" on page 172. I had everything in the house but the reduced-fat sour cream, and no yogurt or Kefir. I used some low-fat cottage cheese instead. It would probably have been better with the sour cream, but, other than that, it was quite tasty. Just want to warn you, you probably have to eat it with a knife and fork. At least I did, to avoid having it on my white shorts.

Took it easy the rest of the day; so far, anyway. If I feel up to it, I might take a walk after dinner. No startling weight loss so far, because I had lost a few pounds last week, by the time we checked into this thread. We will see.

I hope you all had an enjoyable day. It's 85* here, and I love it!

I'm checking in early today since we may lose internet because of some interesting weather coming our way.

I liked the curried tuna. I'd never used curry before but plan to use it often now.

We'll be going to the grocery store on Tuesday and then I'll try to stick more closely to the menus the rest of the week. Now that I have the condiment purchases out of the way, my grocery bill is more normal too.

I'll be continuing this way of eating but is it going to be so much easier when I can plan the menus myself so that my produce purchases and use will be in line with what I can use up before things spoil. I'll probably be making all the recipes in the future since I've enjoyed them.

I'm glad the sushi worked out well, Dawby. I've actually found that Japanese is a good bet for eating out but staying healthy.

I've also tried the Curried Tuna, and thought it was tasty.

In general I'm finding this weekend a little more tricky than during the week, primarily because it's involved more socializing. I'm also straying more from the book recipes in an effort to use up what food we've got before the next trip to the store.

It's all good, though. Am staying within my calorie range and I went to a Bollywood DanceFit class yesterday, which burnt a ton of calories. Today's my rest day on exercise, though we'll probably walk downtown for dinner tonight (about 2 miles round trip).

ETA: this week's groceries cost me about 30% less (& closer to normal spending). I had a better idea of how often I actually needed to cook, AND thought of uses for what I do have left. Those of you shopping for this week: that is good news!

The sushi was not the disaster I expected it to be. I did my best to log, and the calories aren't as bad as I thought - it's not exactly the Chinese buffet, after all. =)

I took my time, which had an added bonus: When we do have sushi, it seems to disappear quickly - this made it last. I even had enough room in my calorie range to splurge a bit on dessert. Whew!

I have the grandkids and my daughter coming tomorrow to swim and I am making the vindaloo recipe I got from the site. I am doing a modified version of it to take some calories out and will let you know how it goes. Just in case I have chicken nuggets on hand for the girls as they are probably not into Indian cuisine. I love it -- but that's just me. I do a lot of mung bean soup, etc. and I am sure they wouldn't go for that either.

Anyway, make it a great one tomorrow! emoticon

Great work sticking with the program everyone! I'm enjoying the kick start of eating these healthy foods and incorporating the veggies in different ways. I'm looking forward to trying the pancakes tomorrow as blueberry pancakes are one of my favorites. No weight loss yet, but I did get a compliment today that I'm looking good from a neighbor and that helped to boost my motivation. Thanks for the smoothie recipe Marlis- I can't wait to try it. emoticon
Leslie- I did try the curried tuna and it was very good and not difficult to prepare. I also get bad headaches and find it's best to rest or take a very light walk. A few days of rest will not sabotage your efforts!

Has anybody tried the curried tuna salad sandwich? I was thinking of trying it tomorrow for lunch and just wondered what others thought about it. I made the panko breaded fish tonight, but instead of putting the tomato salad on the fish I mixed it in with the sauteed zucchini and had a very tasty side dish.

I have not done very well with the exercise this week because I tend to have more migraines around that TOM, so hopefully next week will be better.

Yesterday I relied on Spark Solution servings that I had leftover from other days and today I made Spark Solution meals that allowed me to use up produce I had from my last grocery list. So I wasn't exactly using the menu plan from days 5 & 6 but I was using the menus. I'm eating better than ever and feel very good.

I also have developed a taste and interest in more healthy foods than I had before.

Terry, you should be able to freeze the pancakes. I would just suggest to put some parchment paper between them; it will be easier to separate them. My daughter-in-law always freezes pancakes (sans yogurt, though) and then just warms them up in the toaster.

Suzie, great that you were able to stay within your calorie allowance. That is why tracking is such a great help to stay with the program. Exercise challenged? Just keep at it, and with time, you will NEED it on a daily basis. It grows on you. emoticon

Sheila, great loss, pound and inches. Keep it up and you will be rewarded.

Sue, we all have our bad days, but from what I am reading, here, everybody is making adjustments to be able to stick with the program.

Dawby, Sushi is my husband's favorite, because he went to Japan on business many, many times. Actually, I love it too. So and so often, we need to go to a Japanese restaurant to get our 'sushi fix'. I no longer eat "all you can eat" when we go, but will order some roll, and will only use the low-sodium soy sauce. I also love to order Edamame (Soybeans), which is good for you. When it is cold, I also love to order Miso soup, but you better drink a lot of water with it all, to flush the extra salt out. The scale might be up the next day, but if you increase your water intake, it will take care of itself. To avoid extra calories, order Sashimi, as you can avoid eating all that rice that comes with Sushi.

We had a lovely day, playing golf with friends. The weather was just perfect. We had a bite at the club, after golf. Dh had a tuna melt, I ordered 1/2 spinach salad with berries, onions and a little bit of Feta cheese, with the dressing on the side. The flavors complimented each other so well, that I hardly dipped my fork into the dressing. We might just have a serving of the bean/vegetable chili, tonight, that I cooked, yesterday.

More, tomorrow.

Did you like the Mac-n-cheese Sue?
I'm finding several things I like the 2nd time around better. I had left over mac-n-cheese for lunch and thought it tasted better today than yesterday. I put some red pepper flakes in it this time.
Sheila, my husband will eat the food I make but he hasn't got on the exercise band wagon yet.
I can't see that happening. Glad for you your husband will give it a try.
Dawby, I've never had sushi so I can't help you there. Hope you have a good evening when you go out tonight!
It's been a rainy icky day here. I hope tomorrow is better. emoticon

My husband eats like a horse so many times we eat separate entrees because I will not go with his foods. --we are talking about a guy who has ice cream every day. He's respectful of my health focus and is fine with separate foods at times. Most of the time we eat the same thing but sometimes I set a boundary on what I will eat. Now he's talking about wanting to start working out

Keep sparking.

Had a good start for the day - got the strength in, a spark approved breakfast, and leftover spark for lunch.

Then, my husband decided he wants sushi for dinner. I wish he would give me more advance notice. I could plan/anticipate better and NOT miss the astronomy meeting. (Although it is cloudy and we don't have much to discuss, so I'm not missing TOO much.) I really hope he is not a saboteur.

We have not had sushi since I started using spark people. Any advice on how to appropriately track this?

emoticon on the weight loss everybody!!!

Yesterday was a little rough for me BUT I mostly held it together and stayed on track. Luckily, I'd done my strength training and a little cardio first thing, so I still got that in. By lunch I was feeling blue and craving something rich and starchy, but instead of throwing in the towel, I took a little extra time (I work from home) and made the Mac-n-cheese recipe from the book. It did the trick as comfort food, while still letting me stay within my calorie range.

I indulged in some chocolate mousse last night, but still came in within my calorie range for the day (though just barely). And today I'm right back on track.

Hi Guys,
Just wanted to say hi and see how everyone is doing. I lost 1 lb. and an inch around my waist and hips! When you are over 60 it is harder so I am ecstatic and looking forward to losing the next one. I have added resistance bands to my daily routine and I love using them. Great for beginners. The strength exercises in the book are a bit much for me at my fitness level, but I continue to do some of them. Of course, I will continue with my 40 minutes of cardio 4+ times per week.

So pleased to lose a pound. I have felt like the girl looking in the candy store window for a while, but now I know I have a plan that is working too.

Blessings to all of you,

Sheila emoticon emoticon emoticon

I am doing well this week. Still challenged by exercise every day, but I will learn to love it. I also ate at Applebee's this week. Chose one of the WW shrimp and veggie dinners. I enjoyed the food, staying within my calorie allowance (although the sodium was huge), and eating out. I am having great difficulty dropping pounds but I am staying motivated and trying new things to make it happen. To one more successful day! **Suzie

Good morning,
My husband will eat any thing I make him with the exception of foods with peppers. (I've been sneaking them in on him though here lately.) He doesn't care if the foods cold or if I burn it
if I make it he'll eat it.
This morning the pancakes were a big hit! I put fresh blueberries in them. I'm going to make more and freeze them for when I have company. Do you think it would be o.k. to freeze them with the yogurt in them?
I was suppose to go to a Strawberry festival today but we had a bad storm here last night and it's still raining.
I was suppose to have company from Oklahoma today but they got stuck in bad weather yesterday on the way here and stayed in a hotel last night and are just going to head back home instead of following storms all the way up here.
Did my exercises already.
I hope you have good golf weather today Marlis.
I wish every one a good day and keep on Sparking!

Terri, does your husband eat exactly what you are eating?
My husband and I make our own breakfast and lunch; sometimes he will eat what I suggest for lunch. However, for dinner, we compromise. Tonight, he wanted an Albacore Tuna Loin, that he had purchased recently. A 4oz. serving w/sauce only had 160 calories. I only ate 3oz. and made that brown rice/quinoa/lentil medley, again, to go with it. It paired very nicely. I also added a salad with spring greens and 1/2 avocado. I had enough calories left to have that 1/2 avocado.

I looked up the pancakes everybody talked about. It sounds delicious, and will be on my menu this coming week.

This morning, I fixed a 'Three Bean Chili'. Although the beans and tomatoes all came from cans, there was a lot of chopping to do. Lots of onions, broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini and garlic. all finely chopped. It cooked for two hours. Although the recipe calls for 6 servings, I made 10 servings out of it. So, now I have some in the refrigerator and some in the freezer - a quick meal when I don't have time to cook. I wrote down all the food values as I added everything to the pot. Still have to figure out how much a serving is.

Enjoy your weekend, my friends. We will have beautiful and finally warm weather in No. NV.
This lady will be on the golf course, tomorrow. emoticon

Today I had my other breakfast cookie and for some reason it tasted better than the one I had yesterday. Maybe I'll give it another try after all.I made the macaroni tonight. It was different than what I'm use to but I'd make it again.
All in all the day went well for me.
Can't wait to see what the scales say Mon.
Tomorrow morning I'm planning to have the pancakes.
Every one seems to be doing a good job.
My husband is teasing me about the food I'm making he always says "What do we get to eat this time?" He hasn't complained about any thing yet.
Good luck over the weekend. That's the hardest time for me because that's when every one wants to go out somewhere for lunch. I think I'll have pass at least for this weekend. I'm on a mission to lose a couple of more pounds this next week. emoticon

Had a good day!

It's nice to be on cardio again (I had a problem..). I have even worked on adding the routine of taking a walk after dinner (on top of the daily dog walk, which was cut short today, because the back of my heel was bleeding....the issues of summer!)

The Mac and cheese was good...but needed seasoning. I guess I have a salt addiction on top of my sweet tooth. The green beans and tomatoes rounded the meal out nicely. I would have enjoyed it better ere I not being stalked by a spider as I ate. One of the cats caught on and tried to defend me, but that riled the dog, who's scared the cat, so I had to scarf what was left and exit the dining room quickly.

I do hate strength training, so I am not looking forward to that. Now that it is summer vacation, and I am spending a LOT of time crocheting, it has been REALLY hard to get those NEAT minutes in. Today was laundry day, so that helped, but tomorrow although I have an astronomy meeting, it will be cloudy, so I will not get as much walking in asI normally would for that.

Hi Every One! On Day 6 and I am really enjoying the meals! This evening went to Applebees thou and the waiter was very patient with me. Because I made sure I was in the calorie range before I ordered. He started laughing when I told him I wanted to sub this for that and that for this! Then we got into the conversation of SparkPeople and the Spark Solution. I went to get my mri today and they weighed me I am down 3 pounds so far. emoticon
