I also joined Spark because I am tired of being overweight. I am tired of the mental profile I have of myself not matching my actual body. I know how beautiful I am and I want to shine inside and out. I love being active, and I love the new ways of being active. I really love how Spark is helping me recognize every effort, big or small, I am making towards my goal. I really need support and hope this site is the place for me

I got delayed almost a month because of an illness but now I am ready to start to learn and get started. When I checked out this site I really liked what I saw. All of the different trackers and articles and so many people working together. I am really looking forward to getting started

I joined for 2 reasons. 1) We have a Wellness Program at my work which put us in touch with the benefits of Spark People & 2) I wanted a way to "track" the food I've eaten. My husband is diabetic and wanted a way for him to "track" all his data. After researching several well-known sites I opted for SparkPeople and love the simplicity of tracking my food eaten each day. 2 days & I have already gleaned a wealth of information of my eating habits. I loved earning SparkPoints just learning about this helpful site. It is also very heartwarming to find likeminded people on this journey in the SparkCommunity

Hi All,

I joined because I have tried everything else, with some luck, but I have always gained it back and more. I love the idea of all the support and love to look at my nutrition at the end of the day. Did I have enough protein? Too much fat? I'm still in the honeymoon stage, but I am cautiously optimistic.

I joined because my weight is going up and I need motivation and I don't want to join a gym. I am looking for exercises on here to do that is simple and easy to do, and I am also trying to watch what I eat and limit my intake of food and increase my intake of water. I would also love to make some new friends on here as well.

After many years of good health, some of the pesky aspects of aging are starting to creep up on me. Can't turn the clock back, but eating right, in the right quantities (this last is the hurdle I need to surmount), is one thing we can do to make life better. I like the "can-do" spirit here, and am ready to join you and give it a shot!

I joined because I found this site by accident but once I looked it over and saw so much energy and encouragement coming from its pages, I thought, this is for me. There is so much advide and so much support and information and it's all free. Free. No fee to join and I was shocked. I don't have the money to maintain a membership. I appreciate all Sparkpeople team and the founder does for those of us who are serious about losing weight. I really want to do this. I am committed. I like the way you start out. I am only on my first week and I learned just in the first few days how much food I was eating. I had not idea but thanks to Sparkpeople, instead of starting a new diet plan of cutting the calories I just kept a record of my food intake. It was terrible! Around 4,000 a day. I was shocked. I then did something about it. I started cutting out foods I didn't need. Things that weren't healthy. And I started exercising. Walking. Exercise tapes and a trip to the gym. The exercise tapes were walking but they were not easy, slow walking tapes. I got just as much exercise as workout at the gym and all I had to do was walk in front of the tv and follow along. So after two years, I was eating better and moving my body doing exercise and this is only the first week. Thanks Sparkpeople. I'm motivated.

Over 6 years ago, I weighed 190 and was at my top weight. I met a friend who was just leaving for her weekly WW meeting, and although I was a Lifetime member from years ago, I never really learned how to maintain. I managed to lose 40 pounds....... it took a year, and I have maintained pretty close to my goal for 5 years.

One of the reasons I decided to do it, is because my doctor told me if I didn't lose and start excersizing she would put me on diabetes medicine, because I was high normal... I started eating healthy, more fruits and vegetables, and cutting out mostly bad carbs, and eating lower fat. My blood tests showed that I was much better, and so far ok. Also my cholesterol went down, and they could cut my meds in half. And my Blood Pressure medicine in half also. I know that I need to do this for my health.

I feel that Sparks People is a great group, and I know you can do this....... You will feel so much better, and maybe not have to take the meds.
Oh by the way, I love Kitties too!!
God Bless!

I joined today because I wanted to be able to maintain my weight watcher goal. I have maintained for five years successfully and unsuccessfully. I have trouble Maintaining within my 2 pound limit. So what I'm wanting to do with Spark people is to lose at least 5 pounds so I can be at a more comfortable way for my monthly weigh in.
Maintaining your weight is probably the hardest thing to do. It is a life time goal.

I want to lose weight and live healthier. I want to set a positive example for my kids. I joined Spark People for the resources to help me reach my goals. I need to be held accountable! I hope this is enough. I am afraid I will struggle with time. I've been fortunate the past few days that I've been snowed-in and have had the extra time. I'm afraid that once I return to my normal routine I won't make the time I know I need to.

I joined for the weight loss tools- the trackers, the videos, etc. Also for the motivation--I could definitely use a little "boost" now and then. I've hit a point where I just can't stand being this fat anymore. I'm done with it. -And hoping to make like-minded friends.

I joined to have added motivation. Fellow employees and I used to do a "Biggest Loser" every couple of months and we no longer do it. I find I work a little better at my personal goals with a bit of competition or someone keeping me motivated. I lost 20lbs in 2011 and then maintained in 2012. I still have weight to lose. I cant seem to get motivated.....Argh. emoticon emoticon
