I can hardly wait to try the mushroom soup. It looks delicious and it's been cold (40-50s) here lately. Eating up leftovers first... then soup!

its my recipe. they just have to worry about THEIR copyright..and when you put one public on spark you give them the rights to the recipe. Thanks for making it private i appreciate it.
its only the ones that are put to the public that you give the rights to spark on, not anything you put on a team. we are a small group....i dont worry about anyone here.

I've gone ahead and made it private. I did somehow miss that you were working on the recipe for a magazine.

I think that posting it in a public thread counts as publication for copyright purposes, so if one of the conditions for the contest is "not published anywhere else," you should have waited until the contest was over before posting the recipe anyway.

The mushroom soup has just been submitted to Taste of Home for contest and publication..i do ask that anything i clearly post (as i did) that i was working on for the magazine, you ask before you enter into a public database, and that you use my name only because its an original recipe and people love to take others and submit them to the magazine.We agree with the magazine that the recipes we develope arent printed anywhere else, and once they are in the sparkrecipe database they are then public and Spark can use them in cookbooks, etc. I didnt post it until I had it to the editor, though, so i'm hpoing i'm safe on that.
I wouldnt have posted it so soon but i said i was working on it and people asked for it.....next time i'll just wait till its gone to the test kitchen!
Flattered that people like it so much!

There's a search bar above the menu you described. You can enter your search terms, then when the initial results come back, you can click on the advanced search button and fill in the minimum or maximum amounts for various macros to narrow down the recipes.

Add/Calculate Recipe is where you can enter your own recipes to the database. Just as an example I added the cream of mushroom soup recipe from a recent thread to the public database here: recipes.sparkpeople.com/reci
pe-detail.
asp?recipe=3425002&ff=1
I hope the author doesn't mind, and I would be willing to add the username to the description.

I created a category for keto recipes as I found them - either specifically labeled as Keto, or as recipes that in reading through I realized they were essentially Keto recipes or could easily be modified as such (like maybe a low carb veggie dish that used margarine, and with a simple switch to butter or olive oil etc, one could make the recipe more keto friendly.).

Interesting to see this thread in my email today. I just came in from a visit to a dietician. She was peddling her standard 3-5 servings of carbs per meal and telling me how to modify it to 2-3 servings. It was a bit of a struggle to get her to focus on that I wanted a more ketogenic plan, as did my integrative oncologist. She did make some additional suggestions and I need to go back to Trackers and try to remember what I did the last time to re-set my macros and maximum daily calorie ranges. (Being on an extended fasting kinda messed up my mind so I'm more forgetful than I was.).

So anyway, ya'll are welcome to look at what I have assembled in there but keep in mind I haven't made most of these recipes. They were just some that I saved as I tripped across them elsewhere in SparkRecipes or some might even be Holly's recipes??

I was able to follow those links, and see the recipes, including yours. So you were able to add recipes for all to see and search for?

What I saw on the top of that page was a menu for:
"BROWSE RECIPES"
"SEASONAL & PARTY"
"ADD/CALCULATE RECIPE"
"MY RECIPES"

Recipes are found on SparkPeople's sister site, Sparkrecipes (link near middle of top of page; it's the rightmost link before the social media links).

You can enter your own recipes or search the database for recipes meeting certain criteria. I just did some testing and if you click on the advanced options when doing a recipe search, you can set the macros for over or under specific limits to find keto recipes. That's a new development. There used to be much more emphasis on low fat in the advanced search options, which why I wanted to know about people's collections. You can save recipes to collections or save single recipes to your recipe box. You can also modify recipes (called a makeover).

Here are the results of a search I did: recipes.sparkpeople.com/reci
pes.asp?fo
od=chicken+thighs&anyall
=ALL&a
mp;c1=0&c3=0&c5=0&c4
=0
&prep_time=0&total_time=0&amR>p;c2=0&calories_operation=&f
ib
er_operation=&carbs_operatio
n=1&am
p;carbs=5&fat_operation=
0&fat=
12&protein_operation
=1&protein
=20&sort=number_of_ratings&pg=

The results may not be strictly keto, but they're close enough that the choice of sides and any possible desserts could easily make for a keto meal, and in all cases, the calories from fat should exceed the calories from protein.

Here's a recipe collection that I've been working on for a while; it's low carb baked goods : recipes.sparkpeople.com/Cook
books.asp?
id=609183

BTW, out of sheer laziness, I'm inclined to save single serving recipes like mug cakes as food groupings for tracking purposes. I'll keep the actual recipe in my local recipe software.

Until a few years ago Keto groups were just barely tolerated on spark people. We had to lay low because they thought we were promoting an unhealthy way of eating. We promote eating well below the suggested daily amount of carbs.

I think we've gotten a little better than just tolerated, but not by a lot.

I'm not aware of a where the recipes are on Sparkpeople. Can you provide a link?

Do keep in mind that Holly and I are volunteers.

James

You can use the search tool on Spark to find "keto" things, then add them to your personal cookbook. That may be of some help to you.

And I have found if I like a recipe, but it's not enough "keto" for me, you can personalize it (remove non keto items, maybe put some more keto friendly item in" then save it to your own cookbook.

Recipes are so personal - there are thousands of choices. My personal Spark cookbook has a ton in there. That being said... I cook off the seat of my pants a lot. Just with keto items. I made a turkey soup that was delicious the other day. Just turkey, veggies, and water and spices. Yummm.

Does anyone here have collections of keto recipes on SparkRecipes? I'm interested because a) recipes on SparkRecipes simplifies nutrition tracking and shared collections would make finding suitable recipes in the SparkRecipes database makes it much easier, and b) I'd rather not enter a recipe if it's already in the database.

I also think it might be handy if the Team Leaders were to maintain a curated list of such recipes.
